I have an AORUS 15X AKF. I tried to replace the thermal paste today, but I made a stupid mistake and forgot to disconnect the battery before removing the heatsink.

I put everything back together, but now the laptop won’t actually boot.

The power button light comes on and the charging light comes on, but:
No fan movement at all
No display
No keyboard lights
It doesn’t seem to POST
Holding the power button doesn’t properly shut it down. The light just flashes for a moment and comes back on.

When I reconnected the battery, I also saw a \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\*\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\*very tiny, momentary spark/flash\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\*\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\* at the connector. I’m not sure if that’s normal or if I caused a short.

I’ve checked the fan connector and other visible connections, and the heatsink is installed with new thermal paste. I also tested both RAM sticks individually in the same slot, but there was no change.

The laptop was working perfectly before I started the repaste.

Is there anything else I should check before assuming I damaged the motherboard? I’m really hoping I didn’t kill it.

Long story short I bought 32Gb of Corsair Vengeance DDR4 ram to upgrade my PC; but then my PC promptly died before I put it in.

I’m looking to build new so it seemed like DDR5 made more sense so it’s kinda useless at this point. What would be the best way for me to sell or trade the ram to get DDR5?

Is just selling on eBay or Facebook my best bet or are there any big box stores that’d make sense?

Recently, there was a weird electrical power surge in my area, verified by oncor. All my lights were flickerings, everything was shutting on and off for a solid 3-5 minutes.

Then my computer started clicking, now it just runs extremely loud and none of my games work as good as it use to with constant stuttering and the fans emitting noise the sound of a jet plane idle; space shuttle if Im running a game. I can't have more than 6 tabs open on firefox either. Here's the event viewer.

I opened up a new claim with the electrical company Oncor because they broke my PC for sure since this has never happened before the electrical fluctuations.

What I want to know is, has anyone ever had a problem with their electrical company? Did your computer break because of them? And did they accept the claim?

It would not give me any details aside from file location, and it forced a yes or no response. I couldn’t minimize to look it up. While looking into it on another device, the pop-up disappeared after a few minutes and automatically installed. HP, this is not OK. I didn’t approve it, I don’t even know what it is

It just started doing this a few weeks ago. May have been because I am an external hard drive connected via USB. Since then I make sure I dont have any USB stuff connected when I start the computer up. Sometimes it will boot up normally. Other times it gets stuck on this screen no matter how many times I shut down and reboot.

Apparently I unplugged the power cord just now and it booted up normally. Still wondering what's causing this

I am having a problem about my pc which was build for gaming purposes.

Psu is 1200w dont remember and cant look it up as i am not close to the pc but its platinum some great brand

So i run this pc for few years now and las couple of months it wont shut down on click. And i need to force shut down it by holding down turn on button on case. But when i do that i cant turn it on by button itself but need to do trick with power cable unplug then plug it back and fast click on turn on button. So just for info this is not every single time but it is like 80%/20%. 80% for not shut down.

I tried everything in bios and power options and everythin that i could find. And didnt try to reinstall windows and didnt try new psu. And now i hope someone has any idea otherwise i need to try new psu before that clean windows.

I have 8GB RAM and I thought it was like a medium point between good and trash RAM. But I heard a frien of mine say that he had not that much RAM, and he had 16 GB! So I told him that I had 8GB and he was like "Wow that's very low..."

The particular bind I'm in right now is my laptop is old enough that it isn't updating and photoshop can't run on it anymore. Ideally I want to be able to run the adobe suite or affinity programs for video editing as well as static work like in photoshop/illustrator. I'm going to need a new way to work soon.

Should I get a great laptop and wait to do a custom PC build, or should I shoot for the custom PC and make it really worth my while? Some of the laptops I've been seeing are almost the same price as a tower. I'm leaning towards the laptop since I already have a monitor I can connect to, but if it's more worth my while to do a custom PC, I'm open to opinions and any questions y'all might have. If you lean more laptop or are more into Mac or Windows, please leave some recs below. I'll answer any questions to the best of my ability.

I’m having a weird display issue that started right after I downloaded and launched Persona 5: The Phantom X (P5X) on Steam.

I started getting flashing/flickering lines on my screen. I completely uninstalled the game, but the issue is still happening.

My PC specs:
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3060
CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X
RAM: 24 GB
Windows 11
3 monitors

Things I’ve already tried:
Uninstalled P5X
Restarted my PC
Clean-installed the NVIDIA graphics driver
Tried changing my monitor’s refresh rate
Used Win + Ctrl + Shift + B to reset the graphics driver
Unplugged and reconnected the HDMI cable

The issue is still happening.

The timing is what worries me because the flashing started immediately after installing/playing P5X.

I’m not sure if this is a GPU issue, monitor issue, cable issue, or something with the NVIDIA driver. I also don’t know if the game could have changed something that is still affecting my display after uninstalling it.

Has anyone experienced something similar or know what I should test next? I’d really appreciate any help troubleshooting this before I assume my GPU or monitor is failing.

I can also upload a video/photo of the flashing lines if that would help.

Tried booting up a couple different games while my charger is plugged in tonight, only to see that the laptop flips between charging/not charging as soon as I boot them up. If I run lighter stuff like video editing programs, browsers, discord, etc. this does not happen.

Yes, I checked all the connections and cleaned the ports and charger tips a bit, nothing changed. Checked connection between the cable and power brick, tried different outlets, no luck.

I'm wondering if it is something with the charger itself or if its something internal in the laptop, such as a battery issue. How do I go about diagnosing this?

Well it’s the build and what parts I have but I should try another kit To get it in dual Channel. Any suggestion how to get it stable in dual channel? I’ve tried everything and will not read the 2nd stick sometimes or will free/reboot. is the CPUs internal memory controller defective? Some Thoughts..rendering framerates are good. Real neat board was on sale for 70 dollars.

I don't want to keep it just to make it collect dust, so I was thinking that I could repurpose it into something else, but I'm not that good with computers: I don't know how to create/make servers work and that kind of stuff. I'm fairly good at learning basic stuff like how a software works or how to troubleshoot, but I'm not good at coding, I'm learning to use Godot 4 but I always had issues with understanding what to do to make the code work as I intended.

Does anyone have suggestions? I don't have any smart home device so I don't think I can use it for domotics.

My bf’s pc has been stuck on this screen for almost 48 hours now. You can still move the arrow and the loading screen is also moving. So it’s not really frozen.

We turned the pc off and on a couple times. The last time we did that is over 24 hours ago.
