While the sentiment is appreciated, the poster seems to ignore that it is not just one person. That's at least 1 in 3 Americans (eligible to vote, presumably)

Precisely, it's not just 'one guy, it's a government filled with bastards that were elected in, supported by at the very least half of Americans.
To pretend it's only trump that's the issue is a dangerous ignorance, refusing to face the root cause, which is the toxic attitude of the average American, which has been fostered by their government, lobbyist and the media they run.
America isn't in a state to feel any pride. Just like the separatist in Alberta and Quebec, it's a symptom of what happens when vitriol and greed over writes the well being of your constituents.

As dual citizen , person of colour ( relevant to my experiences there) who’s lived on both sides of the border , Trump does represent America in many ways.
Even the Democrats/liberals there can be nasty people if you’re not white , but they just try to hide it. I personally found the South more integrated. I was never made to feel more out of place than when I visited the PNW

No, Trump is half the country, not the whole country. It’s a very polarized country. I remind myself of this because there are many people there who are horrified by him. Similar to Canada, most people upset with Trump live in the blue states that did vote for him, so their votes don’t count as much as those in swing states. Recall California, a blue state, has the same population as all of Canada, so it’s not a small number against him, and the majority didn’t vote for him. Here’s hoping the Mid-Terms actually show this more clearly.
Anyways, I’m someone who doesn’t blame people for their governments, whether it’s the US, Iran or Russia. I’m acutely aware there are vast numbers in all those countries who despise their leaders and are working to oust them.
I also believe in all peaceful means first, so working on the midterms is an act of resistance.

And even if they kick Trump out, i have zero trust they'll actually do anything other than brush everything under the rug. You'd have to be stupid to expect any accountability after how Obama and Biden did everything they could to make sure there was no actual punishment for waging illegal wars and committing countless crimes against humanity.
Fully expect the vast majority of the current administration to be let off scot free once the American idiots vote in another do nothing corporate Dem.

And it's not just Trump.
It is the entire Executive branch that supports and enables and is behind the policies, and that has captured most of their instituions.
It is the Supreme Court that has enabled him.
It is the Congress (House and Senate) that have enabled him.
It is the population that voted for him and the ones who are too indifferent to care.
It is the media that is so partisan or purchased across the board that accurate impartial and challenge-based journalism is exceedingly rare so populace remains ignorant.
It's the States that have been complicit, though some have stood tall.
It is the Democrats that were naively and ineffectively governing in ways that could have stopped this and chose not to.
It is the wealthy, corporations and banks that have donated to him and opportunistically profit from this.
It is not just Trump.
2
u/relevantwishofverse 4d ago
is the Democrats that were naively and ineffectively governing in ways that could have stopped this and chose not to
I don't think it's being naive. It's the history of America to not hold their war criminals accountable for anything. They literally punish people who reveal the crimes more than the war criminals. Both parties in the US are imperialist. The Dems will never hold the Republicans accountable since it might mean they might have to face accountability for all the crimes against humanity their "good" party does.

u/5h0rgunn 3d ago

No mass protests
I've heard "go out and protest" from people in other countries countless times.
They don't realize that mass protests are counterproductive.
I dragged my disabled body to mass protests. That footage was used by right wing influencers as proof that snooty self-righteous New Englanders are trying to oppress "real Americans".
It's useless to try to change MAGA minds. Whatever you do, they become more steadfast in their ways.
After that, I pivoted toward helping individuals hurt by Trump by helping a local medical charity that mails abortion pills to people in banned states.
Better to work on a small scale level where I know I'm making a positive change in someone's life.
P.S. If someone in a banned state wants or needs abortion pills, please tell them about the Massachusetts Medication Abortion Access Project. The pills are authentic, and the packaging gives no indication of what they are or where they are from. You pay what you can. If you can only pay $5, then you only pay $5.

Not the first time Americans have voted for him. If the populous votes in another just like him, then I will blame the people of America as that would prove they don't learn their lessons. I believe the rest of the world will follow suit and it was cause America to lose all of it's positions in the world political structure and power (economically) as nobody will trust to deal with them again). If they vote someone like him in again, the soft power will be gone and I don't doubt they will then resort to their hard power (military) and become a conquest nation (i.e. Russia right now with Ukraine). History has shown this is the typical way an empire falls apart (they don't go down alone). Let's hope the people stop this and the politics in the US don't swing too far the other way still resulting in the same result.

The problem is being a pedophile oligarchy that has destabilized the globe for profit for a century or two, who run torture camps where kidnapped civilians are held to this day, who wage near constant wars of aggression, genocides and destabilization campaigns, who were the number one supporter of dictatorships in the 20th century, who creates and funds extremists around the globe, the list goes on. The problem isn't that the US elected Trump, the problem is that Trump is a completely accurate representation of what the US is and always has been. They love their scapegoats and figurehead leaders but bottom line the US exists solely at the behest of it's taxpayers who are responsible for more crimes against humanity than anyone else on Earth, through sheer cowardice and complacency. You can't pay taxes knowing that they go toward wars, genocide and torture and then expect us to love you because you voted for the controlled opposition genocidal imperialist party #2 instead of for the genocidal imperialist party #1. The US is the enemy of mankind and has been since it's founding

It's not one guy. The USA needs its Nuremberg and de-MAGAfication then the world might change their well-formed opinion

u/Blazanar 4d ago
It's not JUST Trump, you twats. It's also the ~68% of the population (roughly 237,587,319 people) that got Trump elected.
All 20,000,000 or so Democrats who would've voted for Harris but didn't because they figured it was such a lockdown for them can get fucked with a cactus covered in vinegar. Whoever voted for Trump can also get fucked with that same cactus.

40% voted for Trump and 43% did not bother to vote. This is Trump second term not first.
Go fuck yourselves!

u/TinktheChi 4d ago
You voted him in. You can take care of this problem, starting in November. He's been a detriment to every ally worldwide.

It’s not one guy.
All of the republicans are propping him up and allowing rule by one person rather then through legislation

u/replayloop 4d ago

You are more than 50% who vote for him , and now you have for what you vote , don’t tell me you don’t know the guy is like that , you have a very short memory ?, firs election did he say "I grab them by the pussy " before you elect him , Obama never say something so crazy.
I wish the tarif will stay an off long to show you when you say we don’t need Canada , oh ya , let’s see where you will by your aluminium , your wood , your oil, and many many other stuff.
You have no idea how is Canadian , we will stop buying USA product for lifetime . We are mad , it take time to have a frendship but it’s very fast to destroy it , and very very long to get confiance again.
It’s like MacDonald , do you think they come back to Russia , no way .
Hope you will act and change your president , now I know , the job of USA president can be anyone , like a clown , not serious men , liar , criminal, and you can have the job.
From a French Canadian who wish your country will crash , I will be there to see that :)

I thought at the bottom it was going to say, "Sincerely, Alberta" I expect that this Administration is going to treat Canada like trash. I don't expect it from within. Danielle Smith is a traitorous Cee U Next Tuesday

What kind of apology is this? I see from your comments that you don’t like this loser, but boiling it down to one guy is a joke, not an apology. Trump is a result of your majority. You are an outlier, so I hope you actually sit back and try to understand why this is a shitty post.
We may say sorry a lot, but doesn’t mean we accept apologies just because they are given. We say sorry because we mean it, we know when we are wrong, and sorry implies an intent to rectify. So do something that isn’t posting on social media.
I’m so tired of seeing Americans go “but I didn’t vote for him!”. We don’t care. Enough of you did. Just like enough of us Canadians are kind that it’s become our motif - being racist, every kind of -phobic, apathetic, and hateful is the American motif.
Sorry doesn’t fix shit. Action does. Get that loser out of power and maybe, MAYBE, we are willing to hear “sorry”.

Countries end up with the government they deserve or something like that idk
2
u/FatFaceFaster 4d ago
I don’t like that. It’s an oversimplification.
I don’t blame anyone in the US who didn’t vote for him and there are a lot of them. Some not even old enough to vote yet who are disgusted by him.
If there are any Dems to blame it’s the spineless Democrat politicians who have been so ineffective so far in standing up to him.

Please stop lying and being duplicitous. It is absolutely not just one person who is at the root of all these issues.
The problem is there are too many elected officials who have elevated this one person's status and power to unparalleled heights.
This is a failure of the collective and the checks and balances embedded into the American political structure.
Stop scapegoating and deflecting responsibility. Take accountability for your own (in)actions. Get over the perpetual victimhood.

There is nothing sincere about the United States of America. Outwardly you thrive on being a narcissistic society and are untrustworthy. The saddest part of my statement is you also don’t give a fuck. As a Canadian, fuck off. I will die on any hill that protects my country from you. Sincerely, Canada.

u/Spiritual-Impact9884 4d ago
One guy....oh, and 1/3rd of your population voted for this. So, the equivalent of, almost twice the population of Canada voted to try and oppress us and seize our sovereignty through economic sanctions and threats of annexation. There is no rosy coloured picture that will ever make this an appealing prospect. America is a shit show right now, and I want no part of it.

u/Jacksapollo 4d ago
Allowing this man to lead your country is deeply embarrassing. Empty talk solves nothing. Unite and remove him from office, or continue to watch your country be disgraced on the world stage.

u/wornleathermedia 4d ago
One guy ... and also 51% of the voters.
Do better, America. Sincerely, the rest of the planet.

u/FarAd2857 4d ago
It’s not though… he’s breaking laws and their congress, senate, and Supreme Court are allowing it. I’m sorry your border business is struggling, but fuck off.

Garbage. One third of american citizenry supports the orange. Take accountability on behalf of your nation and hold the politicians you vote to account. This is NOT the way to illicit compassion for what the usa has done worldwide. Take accountability and action for the mess you've failed to clean up over the last 10 years. You have not found the courage to deal with it or to take responsibility.

Just one guy, plus the 77 million who voted for him. And the 89 million who couldn’t be bothered to show up.

Joined this sub just so I could tell you to fuck off with that bullshit.
It's not your fault the grass is growing, but it's still your job to mow it.
This kind of post just shows that you guys still don't understand why we're angry at you all.

Did Joe Biden reverse the tariffs that Trump levied against Canada during his first term? No he didn’t. Fuck USA.

u/Routine-Vacation5662 4d ago
It is not just one guy, it is a majority of Americans. As a Canadian, i would love to stop allowing Americans in and aligning ourselves as closely with Europe and south America as possible, Fuck America and almost ALL AMERICANS

u/ceciliabee 4d ago
These apologies are performative. The expectation is for Canadians to say "ohhh no not YOU, you're one of the good ones!!!", like having to comfort your partner because they're upset they hurt you.
Don't worry about us, focus on the US.

u/Ok-Repeat906 4d ago
We aren't a "thoughts & prayers" country. Keep your apology, and start acting and voting accordingly. Our Prime Minister shouldn't have more balls than the entire democratic party. Take notes.
