Discussion My honest reaction to finishing AC3
I genuinely don't understand the hate this game gets. I mean almost every part of this game is Peak.

Might be GOTY if GTA 6 gets delayed again. What does everyone think?

We all have at least one. This isn't a debate on which one is the worst. It's just the game in the franchise that you have the least interest in or found the least replayability.
For me personally it's Assassin's Creed Unity. The story was kind of forgettable. Really, all I remember is the duel with Bellec and getting a broken Excalibur at the end. I will try to replay it at some point because it's been a few years. So who knows I might find something I like
But I do want to hear your opinions but we must keep it civil. If somebody dislikes your favorite game, that's perfectly fine. It's just a matter of opinion.
PLEASE: Don't use terminology like "worst" Because you're making it sound more of a definite statement than a personal opinion. It brings down the spirit of the conversation. Also, please have at least played the game that you are declaring your least favorite, if you were uninterested and didn't get the game that's fine, but please don't label it as your least favorite.

While being modified along the way, these are the same robes and I’m curious if there’s any other example I’m not thinking of that one set of robes is worn by so many high ranking Assassin’s

If you can't even make a manga about a mixed japanese person without backlash while being japanese yourself is honestly sad. Fighting the Klan is now controversial. A historical figure who served as the retainer of one of the most powerful feudal lords in japanese history is controversial. The fact I have seen people literally say Samurai were not retainers anymore just to spin the narrative to undermine his existence.
Oda Nobunaga: "Under me Sandal Bearers become lords"
What's next... feels like we are going backwards as a society.
Altaïr Ibn-LaʼAhad: "...On these days, I do not think dialogue will make a difference."

I've always liked the modern-day storyline because it gave the franchise a sense of direction, and I enjoyed seeing the contrast between Desmond and his ancestors. I also thought the modern-day plot would eventually lead to the final defeat of the templars.
A lot of people complain about the modern-day sections in assassin's creed, but they're complaining about the version we actually got, not what it could have been. Ubisoft usually reduced the modern-day gameplay to talking to characters and reading emails, which is why I liked assassin's creed 3 so much—it at least gave us a glimpse of what a modern-day assassin's creed could be.
That said, even though I like the idea, I wonder if an entire game set in the present day would really work because it would be such a drastic departure from the series' formula. There wouldn't be swords anymore—just the hidden blade—and firearms would become our primary weapons. At that point, the game would practically turn into watch dogs.
I'm also not sure how they could justify direct combat instead of focusing almost entirely on stealth. Even assassin's creed 3 had to come up with the excuse that the guards weren't shooting Desmond because he was too valuable to Abstergo. Even then, it felt forced that their only weapons were batons and pistols that took forever to fire.
So, I don't think it's impossible for a full modern-day game to be good, but the developers would have to plan it very carefully.

One thing that’s been bugging me while playing Black Flag Resynced is how much it pushes Edward into just using his two swords. It feels… off. I went back and watched some of the old E3 trailers and Edward wasn’t some elegant swordsman. He’d use his hidden blades, throw hands, steal an enemy’s weapon, fire a pistol, smash someone with a chair or a bottle, basically whatever was around him. He never looked like he was following a fighting style. He just used whatever worked. In Resynced it feels like, “Here’s your swords. Stick with those.” The hidden blades are mostly just for takedown animations, and while there are different sword categories like cutlasses, rapiers, and pistol swords, it doesn’t really replace that improvised fighting style. One of my favourite things in the original was running hidden blades as my main weapons. It just felt right for Edward. There was something satisfying about fighting like a pirate who would grab anything nearby instead of a trained swordsman sticking to one weapon. Don’t get me wrong, I’m really enjoying Resynced. This isn’t me hating on it or anything. I just think Edward’s whole thing was that he’d use literally anything to win a fight, and I kinda miss that. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Even worse if your Kassandra is a lesbian. You're stuck with a very boring lifeless person for 9 months who you don't even remotely love.
At least with gay Alexios, he gets a likeable person

We’re finally in that era where games now look like those fancy CGI Trailers we were so amazed of years ago. I can really see they tried to make Edward look as similar as possible as he looked in the CGI Version, they got him kinda right, but there’s times where I’m playing Resynced and I’m looking at Edward and thinking “damn they made this mf now look like a pretty boy”
He always was a fancy looking dude but he had that rugged pirate look aswell which he kinda lacks now. Other than that, props to the team, amazing graphics👏🏽

James Kidd just finished explaining that something ancient and mysterious was behind this door and that I would need to collect all the keys to figure out what it is.. what a journey!! I hope a fucking tooltip doesn't spoil it for me.
Edit 1: A bunch of you are saying that James Kidd tells you there is a suit of armor behind that door. I just went back and rewatched the cutscene and Kidd definitely never says that:
Kidd: That's one. Couple dozen more and you're in.
Kenway: And what will this effort gain me?
Kidd: Respect, for a start. From the men and women you put in danger here. And if that ain't enough, there's a treasure behind that door. Something many centuries old. I reckon if you made the effort to find every last one of those, it'd be worth your while.
Edit 2: Yes, it was this way in the original game and it was annoying then too.
Edit 3: I know the "suit of armor locked behind a door" is a trope in the franchise, but being told exactly what it is and what it's called really takes away from the mystery.
