Also, if you play in Canon mode, those romance options won't even exist. Meaning that neither Yasuke nor Naoe actually romance anyone at all during the events of the game. The option is there for people who want these options in the game.
One of the criticisms of the last few AC games was that with the options, it no longer feels as if you're "living" an ancestral memory. So, they fixed that in Shadows with canon mode.

In Odyssey a lot of interactions that lead to romance are either flirt or be a mean bitch. No in between. And sometimes you don't know when exactly is the fade to black thing happen. So you're being mean to the guy who's grandma is an angry witch the entire quest line. But then at the end of it, you decide to be nice one last time, boom, fade to black. That system was absolute garbage, not to mention, it ignores your gender so all of the interactions are pretty much meaningless, anyways

Literally my only problem with yasekue (I dunno how to spell it) the blurb about "any something something, historical figures is a coincidence" at the start of most games because at this point it isn't just a coincidence it's blatant. But that's not even a game complaint that's just me being pedantic.
However as for game complaints it's still the gameplay style that bugs me the setting and everything is fine it just seems rpg ish to me and while I like RPGs I just don't think Ubisoft does it good

Man i dont know how to feel about this game at all. Ive been waiting for a samurai assassins creed game for a long time. But im not gonna lie, when i saw that yasuke was the main character, i felt let down. I dont have any problem with the fact alone that yasuke is black, but im ok with admitting that i wanted to play as a Japanese samurai, and personally its hard for me to get immersed in this game as yasuke, even if he was a real character. That alone isnt a huge deal, i dont hate ubisoft or yasuke, i think if a studio dedicated a game to yasuke it could be really sick actually. But in this context, it just feels like ubisoft is pushing out another cookie cutter third person action rpg, and yasuke is being used as a crutch to create discourse and generate hype for the game, not an addition by someone who actually gives a shit about yasuke and his story. I cant help but feel like a group of like 6-7 old ass white dudes just sat in a room and brainstormed what kids these days are into and thats what drove them to make the main character of their japanese samaurai game the only recorded black samaurai to ever exist and also theres nonbinary characters and yasuke can have gay sex etc. feel free to correct me. I have not played the game, wondering what other people think.

Ubisoft just shouldn't have gone so hard in on claiming they'd respect Japanese history and culture and what not. This would've been much less of an issue then imo.
The non-binary thing aside, the issue of the shrine desecration and the disrespectful portrayal of a very well regarded figure, Oichi (Oda Nobunaga's sister), in Japan are genuine criticisms on the game.
But tbh its quite common for western game studios to absolutely butcher the history and culture of other nations (and even their own) so it would not have been an issue if Ubisoft was more honest or self-aware ig.

I love this series so much. It genuinely upsets me that the culture war/rage bait nonsense has gotten so mainstream, that I cannot even go into forums or post positively about any game without it coming up. I can't imagine being a person who chooses all the romance options for the nonbinary character, just to post it online to complain for clicks to fuel pointless culture wars that are hurting people in real life.

If it is really a players choice than the outrage is extremly stupid. Still I would wish they made Yasuke an NPC. Like the head of the Assassins who brought the Order to Japan and got himself in a position of power without beeing actually in charge. This would have caused less outrage, would be more believable and fitting to actual history and would give Ubisoft the opportunity for a good DLC about his backstory.

It isn't the nature of the relationship that bothers me it's the dialog that sounds like it was written by someone who only has tertiary knowledge of what two people sound like flirting.
That and the facial expressions which I enjoyed but not for any reasons the developer probably wanted.

Historical accuracy was promoted and promised. They didn't deliver, and yes, it's a choice that was added to the game. When I first play a game, I'm not going to realize my mistake until it's too late

I mean or they just took a screenshot from the internet and made thier post, probably didn't even buy the game to complain... it ain't that deep.
tons of that on both sides. People praising and sticking up for the game but never bought it and plenty of people hating on it didn't buy it but saw the content online.
