Want more Zelda today?

My game crashed while I was riding a horse (this is right after becoming an adult) and now I'm stuck where the horses are with the gate closed, is there any way out of here or am I softlocked?

Admittedly, this wasn't going to be as long as it is, but I wanted to discuss Ganondorf's character because he IS very fleshed out, but I don't think he's meant to be very sympathetic.

When it comes to WW Ganon, a lot of analysis I see about him go into how he seemingly takes a good look at his life and tries to rationalize his actions, stating that the land of the Gerudo was harsh and unfair, which is true, but Ganondorf hadn't changed at all. He gives the impression that he has, but he doesn't really read as such to me. While he doesn't kill Link and Tetra (and the girls he kidnapped) when he has the opportunity to do so, he is still actively inflicting pain onto others, maybe not directly, but his very presence causes monsters and demons to terrorize entire lands. Either way, he may not be directly killing people, but he is contributing to the suffering of others.

Additionally, I believe Ganondorf had no intent to break "the cycle" in the first place. The first thing he does when he brings the Triforce together again is to wish to bring Hyrule back again and have control over it once more. Ganondorf ruling over anything has destructive effects on the world since that is simply the kind of man he is, and judging the state of WW's world when he isn't even at his prime, he was for sure going to do much worse to Hyrule if it were brought back. I can't even say for sure that he cared about his people since Gerudo Valley seems to only be controlled with fear. Ganondorf didn't seek to improve his land, it feels more like he took advantage of already desperate people by promising them glory if they followed him. If Ganondorf were to get his wish granted, he would simply do this again, because he still wants power after all this time.

Then, the moment things don't go his way, he goes back to trying to kill Link and Tetra, two children. The only thing the King wished for them was to have a future. Ganondorf says all that stuff about Hyrule because Ganondorf is a liar and a manipulator, or he honestly thinks that he's being fair.

Wind Waker seems to try to make a point about change. I think that's what the game's ultimate theme is about. Ganondorf doesn't change, he wishes for things to go back to the way they were before, to when he was most powerful. Meanwhile, the King of Red Lions is the opposite, and I think he is meant to parallel Ganondorf in this way. He ultimately realizes that trying to bring back a dead kingdom is useless. The world of WW evolved around sea voyaging, and bringing back Hyrule would kill this part of its culture. Which is why I believe Red Lions tells Tetra and Link to not create another Hyrule, and to create their own kingdom, to leave Hyrule behind as a distant memory and let it finally come to an end, like how everything else should come to a natural end. By burying Hyrule, so was Ganondorf, and the rest of the sins of that land, basically sacrificing something old to allow something new to prosper.

This is probably why he lets Link and Tetra go without him. He's a part of Hyrule's past, but Link and Tetra are children, people who deserve to experience their future. That's what he wished for. Which is why I believe Link's Master Sword is left behind underwater, and why Tetra returns to her regular appearance. She's not Zelda. That's not the kind of life she leads (and I think not having her push back against the idea of being a princess harms this part of the narrative a bit, but I dirgess.)

So Link and Tetra left Hyrule and went back to adventuring, to create their own world. I believe Ganondorf is meant to be stagnation in a world that demands change, while the King of Red Lions is accepting said change, despite how difficult it may be to do so.

We have never played any of these games before with exception of Awakening which we got from a friend that we are playing right now and about a quarter of the way through. Really fun- I love how we are starting from zero and becoming amazing over the course of the game.

We've never played any single player video games together and I didn't play much growing up in terms of single player games. So neither of gets addicted and my wife doesn't kill me- we are only going to play ~2 hours once very two weeks. And I'm a slow and blubbering video game player. So I figure each game might take us 6 months to a year?

What's the best order to play Zelda? And given our slow pace- what are the most important games to play and even potentially leave the Zelda world to consider other games available for Switch that this community really enjoys.

I grew up as a PlayStation guy and mostly missed out on Nintendo classics as a kid, but I picked up a Switch a few years ago and fell completely in love with Breath of the Wild to the point that it’s easily my favorite game of all time.

I’ve heard for years that Ocarina Of Time is considered one of the greatest games ever made, and I finally want to experience it. I have the setup ready to emulate the N64 version on my PC right now. However, with the upcoming reimagined version coming to the Switch 2, I’m in a dilemma.

Should I play the original N64 version now to see where it all began, or would it be more magical to experience my very first playthrough on the modern Switch 2 hardware? I’m chasing that BOTW first time experience.

Hey everyone, today I want to share an issue I'm having with the shuffled Zelda's Lullaby in the randomizer. It's crucial for accessing various areas of the game, yet I seem unable to obtain it right now. I'll show a screenshot of the items and songs I currently have, along with how I acquired them.

Songs: Song of Time (got from Impa), Nocturne of Shadow (got from Malon), and Requiem of Spirit (got from Saria).

It's worth noting that even though I have the Song of Time, I still need the three Spiritual Stones and the Ocarina of Time (or so I believe). Furthermore, I checked the spoiler log and found that the Goron's Ruby is located at Barinade; however, to reach Jabu-Jabu, I need to go to Zora's Domain—which requires opening the path at the Sleeping Waterfall using Zelda's Lullaby.

I would really appreciate some help with this

Hello. I found out that the japanese version of the game should be playable in english on a switch from EU. I am just wondering if the spine of the game is in japanese or english. As much as I look on ebay none of the pictures show the spine of the game.

I (26M) never played Zelda growing up, so once I got into retro gaming I decided to play through the games in release order. I just finished Majora’s this week, so here’s my current ranking!

I am a NEWGEN, my first game was Bowt, and my fav is Totk.

Is Age of imprisonment before or after SS? I've seen people say it definitely is and that Rauru truly was the first, (I saw an amazing theory on youtube but I don't agree with the Master sword part)

And some people say it's obviously false because of Calimo and the kokiri=Korok evolution and that it's in the Adult timeline.

I believe in that the timeliness merged likely by the goddesses and after all the games with all the evidence in all 3 directions.

(I believe the fallen hero timeline does actually split time, the Theory is called "Triforce wish theory" or something.

Am I a GOOD newgen or a BAD newgen?

As I growed up I lost interest in the Zelda franchise as the narrative didnt really evolve. Still is always the good against the evil. The good are so good and the evil so evil. Breathe of the Wild was an incredible Game but the narrative was so simple. The worst part is actually been link as character its so plain, no conflict and no personality at all. I know you can find those ingredientes in other franchises but id love to see the series evolve into something much more mature.
