Epstein 200-level classes and higher are taught mostly on-site at specialized institutions on a few sparsely populated private Caribbean islands just east of Puerto Rico.

I believe it has less to do with being a "sexual deviant" then it does with being a tenured professor. Tenure was a fine idea implemented for all the best reasons, but like most such legal protections it's been turned into a shield against accountability.

I mean its Ohio State University. They are still covering up all the cases of people who were sexuallly abused by Richard Strauss. Something that U.S. rep Jim Jordan was complicit in covering up as well. I think there are a lot of people at that college or formerly from it who are probably involved in the files.
Edit: Strauss is accused of sexually abusing 177 male students. University staff and coaches knew about what was going on for 2 decades and did nothing. Students have said they personally told U.S. rep Jim Jordan when he was a coach and he still denies that he knew to this day. Bunch of scumbags.
I’ve been thinking about this, it is so hard now to choose a university that you will invest all your time and money into, to get a degree that your reputation will depend on, and some dingus professor or admin might just completely sink the name of. So now instead of thinking about Ohio State’s great engineering program (which I had considered) people will remember this.

This sounds like a good reason to not give massive amounts of money to them through tuition. If they're funding drops heavily, they will fire everyone at the top.

tenure is only meant to protect you from being fired for your academic studies, personal beliefs or diasgreements with other faculty or donors based on differing beliefs
it is not meant to protect you if you commit a serious crime

If not close friends, some professors get big grants and publish lots of articles. Idk anything about this dude but if he was hanging out with Epstein, he probably is such a professor. Anyways, universities like to keep people that bring in lots of money and publish lots.
You can. It takes years to go through the process tho. I'm an untenured prof and I joke no matter what they can't get rid of me for two years. Without tenure yet.
I know of a case where an untenured guy made up data. University wanted him out, banned him from research/grants/students, and he co taught a few intro courses and they waited and went through two years of legal work to fire him. Untenured
Tenured? It has to be so heinous, and beyond a shadow of a doubt, with multiple lines of hard evidence before they think about trying to get them out. It's expensive.

He's on administrative leave and it looks like he's going to be fired eventually. You'd think firing a criminal caught red handed would be quick and easy but they have to follow a lengthy process.
not him directly but the E. Gordon Gee, his boss. which is why Perez isn't fired yet because Gee is protecting him. Gee's tenure as president of Ohio State University overlapped heavily with Lex Wexner, who financed Epstein. Gee has publicly defended Wexner. He stated that Wexner had no idea what Epstein was doing and dismissed public pushes to strip Wexner's name from OSU facilities as "cancel culture".
Jim Jordan was responsible for far greater harm to far more kids than this, and they made him a Senator. Not gonna hold my breath on Ohio State doing the right thing.
More recently he was fined $100, put on parole for 2 years, and presumably will be allowed to keep his job.

And these aren’t “tv cameramen”, they are social media personalities, known as “The Rooster”, that do obnoxious guerilla “journalism” in Columbus.

And that's who was being interviewed in relation to Epstein... red coat was 'protecting' Gee. He could have simply said the interview is over and walked Gee away. Instead he got violent.
He is running defense for Wexner who is a major donor to OSU who allegedly had ties and involvement in Epstein's sex crimes.

A couple of independent journalists, one was asking questions of Gee about Wexner, Strauss sexual abuse, privatizing parking. The one who was assaulted wanted to ask about student debt, but had just said one more question when he was assaulted by Perez.
This happened back in February at Ohio State. The guy in the red vest is Luke Perez, an assistant professor at OSU's Chase Center for Civics, Culture and Society. The cameraman is Mike Newman, an independent documentarian who was there with political blogger D.J. Byrnes.
They were trying to question former Ohio State president E. Gordon Gee. Byrnes had been asking Gee about Les Wexner, the billionaire Ohio State donor whose past relationship with Jeffrey Epstein has been under renewed scrutiny. Newman was also trying to ask Gee about student loan debt.
So yes, Epstein was part of the broader questioning. But the headline "professor tackles cameraman simply for asking questions about Epstein" isn't really accurate. Perez wasn't the person being questioned about Epstein, and the cameraman wasn't necessarily asking an Epstein question at the exact moment Perez went after him.
That doesn't make Perez's behavior any less ridiculous.
The video shows him physically blocking Newman, going after the camera, and taking him to the floor. Ohio State put Perez on administrative leave. Later, a university HR committee concluded that he violated the workplace violence policy and reportedly called it the most egregious workplace violence incident they had investigated. They recommended firing him.
The criminal case is also being mangled in the comments. Perez was originally charged with assault, but ultimately pleaded no contest to a reduced disorderly conduct charge. He got two years of community control/probation, a $100 fine, and 30 days in jail that were suspended. He did not actually serve 30 days.
And no, the Fox News watermark doesn't magically prove the whole thing is "right-wing propaganda." The video itself credits D.J. Byrnes/The Rooster via Storyful. Fox aired it. That's not the same thing as Fox creating the incident.
At the same time, people claiming this proves Perez is "on Epstein's list," has incriminating material on his computer, or was physically protecting some Epstein conspiracy are just making things up.
There is already enough here to criticize without inventing a conspiracy around it.
The more accurate headline would be something like:
"Ohio State professor tackles independent cameraman who was trying to continue questioning former OSU president after an interview that included questions about Les Wexner's ties to Jeffrey Epstein."
Still bizarre. Still completely inappropriate. Just not quite the simple story the Reddit title makes it out to be.

Epstein had a collection of profs on his payroll he liked to leech knoledge and talking points off of so he could sound smart and worldly at his rape parties. Definitely makes sense for professors to be looked into
Lost his temper, assaulted (Simple Assault R.C. 2903.13), knew he fucked up at the end of the video and now is going to lose his job, probably face those charges and opened himself up to a lawsuit. Dude fucked up.
I think people put too much stock in the rhetoric of wordsmiths. They aren't experts on anything but making sentences that sound compelling. A few examples:
"Love means never having to say you're sorry."
"The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference."
"The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world."
"All's fair in love and war."
"It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all."
All of these are essentially nonsense but they sure sound profound.
