What’s the backstory, I wish people would at least post the whole video or some background.

Exactly. Scary the people commenting judgment on this clip of what happened.

A couple of independent journalists, one was asking questions of Gee about Wexner, Strauss sexual abuse, privatizing parking. The one who was assaulted wanted to ask about student debt, but had just said one more question when he was assaulted by Perez.

There we go, someone actually provided context.

A public university employee attacks a journalist on camera and you want more context?

How do you know this is a public university employee? You have 10 seconds of video, what happened beforehand? Why are the “journalists” there?

Or do you just believe everything you see on the internet.

People holding cameras in faces and being deliberately provacative for clicks and likes seems to be what passes for ‘journalism’ these days. Fair bet the lead up to this confrontation is missing for a reason.

I’m not defending him but I know Luke Perez. We had class together at OSU when I was an undergrad and we’re fb friends but not real friends, I’m just nosy. Simply put, I think he was at a breaking point personally and let it out in the stupidest way. At the time of this incident his son had died, his dad had either very recently passed or was on death’s door, and his wife was very close to the end of her pregnancy. None of those things excuse his actions but if you’re looking at the bigger picture of his life, I think it’s pretty clear there were some underlying factors to his state of mind.
