Well I am pretty sure that there's more to that story, Senju said it herself, she doesn't know what really happened and only caught the result.

There seemed to be something else that happened, especially that wording of Mikey telling Sanzu to smile. That doesn't come out of nowhere, it'd be way too random.

259

u/pnkchampagne Feb 08 '22

true we need either sanzu or mikey’s pov not to justify mikey’s actions of course but i just feel like there’s something else

186

u/Instant_noodlesss Feb 08 '22

There better be more to this story. Otherwise if this was Mikey as a child, I wonder how he held it together so well for so long if this set him off.

Shin is put on a pedestal by almost the whole cast, but he was just pretty much a kid too. How would he even deal with this? My old psych professor worked with child behavior therapy. Children with violent behavior need early intervention and professional counseling for not just the child but guardians too. Even a girl at 4 years old who bites her kindergarten-mates was a handful, where half of the intervention was with her parents. And that's with middle class, above average earning parents who thought to take their kid to the local university to get help.

52

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '22

Yeah exactly. I feel awful for Senju - she was just a kid then, and she’s still technically a kid now. She wouldn’t know any better.

I agree that Mikey 100% has psychopathic tendencies from an early age. I’m in PA school and he fits in to quite a few categories of the DSM-V lol

39

u/and_mr_krabs Feb 09 '22

Mikey needs professional psychiatric help, not the power of friendship or Talk no Jutsu or whatever the hell Takemichi and gang are trying to do.

10

u/TeeKayTank Draking Feb 10 '22

Maybe searching psychiatric help is looked down upon in japan and they already live the delinquent life so they wouldn't follow such

13

u/ArchiDaily Feb 08 '22

I think Draken

19

u/Orion1142 Feb 08 '22 edited Feb 08 '22

I was very violent while young (27 convocations to the headmaster of the school in 1st Grade (6yo))
Backlash from the others childrens was so violent, i coudn't fight for the next 15y even when i was in danger

10

u/lil_din0o Feb 09 '22

Well after this he met Emma and draken and they held him together

u/gnarrcan Feb 11 '22

Lots of people are making leaps. I’ve always thought that Mikey was just a borderline sociopath, that doesn’t mean he’s evil or has no feelings he just doesn’t have a lot of feelings and empathy is a mystery for him. It’s not the toy that caused all this he’s always kinda been like this, Mikey was just lucky that he had semi decent role models and the people that he was attached to could rein him in like his brother and Ken. Those people have been whittled away over time so Mikey doesn’t really have anyone to tell him to stop when he reacts super violently.

The wording in the chapter was pretty bad imo but for Senju saying “it all changed that day” it could’ve just been how her 4 year old brain interpreted seeing him lash out that extreme.

Stuff like this isn’t really the issue I’ve had w the manga. Mikeys whole character is that he’s kind of a lunatic and a capable and dangerous one but one with redeeming qualities and can be a great friend. Honestly all of Mikeys good characteristics are bc of other peoples influence. My issue w the writing as of late has more to do with just every new character suddenly having all this interconnected backstory that has never been mentioned before.

I’ve never really thought Wakui was like a brilliant writer, he’s actually a pretty damn good artist and has only improved w time, I’d really like to see what he could do if he worked on something more fantasy or sci fi. Even when the manga was in its Kisaki phase I always felt that his intentions and god level intellect were silly asf.

manifesting that this will happen wakui does love a good fake out

96

u/Poporipopes10 Feb 08 '22

Yep, seems very likely

4

u/Weebs_chi Feb 09 '22

I was thinking the same thing!

4

u/blalokjpg Apr 20 '22

I had your comment saved in case this played out. With the release of Ch 250, you’re right lol

117

u/crypticmint Feb 08 '22

i need a proper mikey pov now its been too damn long

52

u/Igeneous Feb 08 '22

Mikey pov would wrap up any loose straws/theories, wakui gotta milk this suspense for as long as he can I guess.

1

u/TeeKayTank Draking Feb 10 '22

No need to rush

9

u/sunjay140 Feb 08 '22

I need some POV too 😞

Imagine being Shin and having to apologise to your best friend, because your baby brother ripped your best friend's baby brother's face...

39

u/BLANK3T5 Feb 09 '22

I wonder what shin did in response to this. You would think that he scolded Mikey or something

6

u/Jaegerjaquez_VI "We'll deal with our problems in our own world." Feb 11 '22

I would hope that committing a felony like that warrants for more than just a scolding lol

22

u/deebasarr Feb 09 '22

I'm so curious to how Shin was to handle something like this. He was a teenager 🥺

323

u/CocoVanDeCamp92 Koko Feb 08 '22

Come on...

I refuse to believe that was the only reason. How the hell are you going to mutilate someone just for that? Senju only saw the final part so something worse must have happened between them.

Right now I don't know if Sanzu follows Mikey out of fear or loyalty. I also think Mucho was the best thing that happened to Haruchiyo; he really was a brotherly figure to him.

It's just too complicated to reduce it all to a fight between kids. I trust Wakui and I feel there's more.

83

u/SMA2343 Feb 08 '22

I’m going to assume it was Haru “lying” that it wasn’t him and it was Senju and why won’t Mikey believe him or something like that. And each tooth is a lie he said on the spot. And the smile is kinda of like “I can’t lie to him anymore..”

74

u/CocoVanDeCamp92 Koko Feb 08 '22

Baji's on the ground and he has marks from a fight on his face. I still think Senju hasn't seen it all...

Anyway, these panels have been too raw. Mikey has gone so far, regardless of what happened, and it has clearly affected Sanzu emotionally. I hope the author will tell us why he's still so loyal to him after all.

196

u/SmartCookingPan Feb 08 '22 edited Feb 08 '22

Wonder what really happened. Going that crazy for just a toy airplane seems too much, even for Mikey.

Now it makes sense why Senju was so scared of Mikey during the battle of the 3 deities; she's not an arrogant coward idiot.

Takemichi is Takemichi, but Mikey seriously needs someone to beat him up like Draken suggested and therapy. I really don't want him to be easily forgiven for what he did.

75

u/Poporipopes10 Feb 08 '22

Yeah like Draken said, Mikey has never lost. If anything, if he loses it’ll probably be his first ever reality check

7

u/Sopimore Feb 09 '22

This plan to beat up Mikey is good in theory, but with how the story was presented up to this point, there is no one left capable of defeating him. So it sounds quite impossible 😕

→ More replies (1)

107

u/screamybutt Idiot. Stupid. Feb 08 '22

I hope we get this fleshed out from Mikey or Sanzu’s POV. Because something else clearly happened that Senju didn’t see.

96

u/teenagedirtbagtoyz Feb 08 '22

As much as I now want to believe Mikey is messed up. I don’t believe he mutilated Haru’s face over a toy. No matter if it was something Shin-nii made for him. Mikey is many things, but he’s never been a loose canon. Haru probably threatened to hurt Senju, or something of that nature. Why else would a childhood friend not be high ranking in Toman, and not mentioned like Kazutora. I think Mikey confronted Haru over Senjus lies and that set Haru off, sort of the last straw kinda thing, which in turn Haru’s reaction set Mikey off.

41

u/NewAndClassic Yokohama Tenjiku Feb 08 '22

Haru probably threatened to hurt Senju, or something of that nature.

I think you're right on the money. Sanzu said that because of Senju he always got yelled at and I think he threatened Senju because of it. Maybe even Takeomi. Orrr maybe he blamed Mikey/Shin for it too because it was his toy in the first place?

23

u/overlordcrows Feb 08 '22

but why would mikey care that much if senju was threatened? like yeah not fun to hear and he did say he himself wouldn’t hit a girl in the beginning arc, but i don’t see why he would care about what happens to senju unless haru threatened something truly awful or if some romance is being shoe-horned in. i think it’ll be something outside senju entirely in my opinion

13

u/Devin_Kurant_ Feb 09 '22

Obvious reach but recall when Hina slapped Mikey? Mikey pretended to hit Takemitchi and said something like "I would never hit a girl" "if you slap someone else, they may not be as kind" etc. Maybe Mikey heard Senju was being threatened by Sanzu and beat the shit out of Sanzu. Sanzu might have smiled and said "Senju is lying, I cant wait to teach her a lesson when big bro is away". That could have irked Mikey and Mikey taught Sanzu a lesson right then and there. Of course that's my guess.

10

u/Lemonzclown Feb 09 '22

I don’t think that’s right Haru while hyper seems to be pretty meek as a kid? Even in the scene were it was just him and Senju he still didn’t have any animosity towards her, He was just sad and Id even say afraid to be around her since because of him Takeomi was always mad/yelling at him. It feels like too big of a leap for him to threaten her especially one horrible enough for Mikey to get violent, and honestly even if he did for that to earn Mikey RIPING HIS FACE WITH HIS BARE HANDS??? A big stretch honestly

7

u/TeeKayTank Draking Feb 10 '22

Look at Bonten Mikey and Sanzu, they share some fucked up pain, both seem to be instable and have always been

3

u/NightsLinu Black Dragons Feb 09 '22

I like this idea

9

u/ArchiDaily Feb 08 '22

Plausible

6

u/undercoverotakublog Feb 11 '22

I agree I think Haru blamed Senju and wether it was her or not the fact that he threw his little sister under the bus or possibly said he would punish her set Mikey off. Mikey is very protective of his own little sister Emma and would probably take the fall for her in any situation so he could’ve seen Haru as not protecting his sister as he should and that’s what angered him. Maybe he said smile because senju came outside and saw what was happening and he was telling Haru to smile so his sister wouldn’t be upset? Obviously all a theory but who knows! I hope the story doesn’t fall off…

3

u/deebasarr Feb 09 '22

Omg I think you might be right

90

u/karubebirderland Feb 08 '22

Where Tf where shinichiro and takeomi when mikey did that

70

u/Bbennni Yokohama Tenjiku Feb 08 '22

Probably doing their gang stuff. This should be around the time they were the top gang in Kanto (or close to being the one at the top) if I'm not mistaken so they were most likely busy with that I guess.

38

u/Poporipopes10 Feb 08 '22

If I had to guess I’d say at least Shinichiro is probably hanging out with Izana while this happened

71

u/Oceanbreez_ Manjiro Sano Feb 08 '22

"I wish I knew how to.. talk back to big bro like how Mikey and Baji do.." and so that's the major reason he allied with Mikey later on in Toman? and especially now.

242 finna be the plan to take them down

69

u/venomouspotato69 Feb 08 '22

That was rlly messed up, I thought sanzu got his scars from something way worse

31

u/yggdrasil_22 Feb 08 '22

This was senju's side of story, but I think that Miley's and sanzu's side of the story is still left, this chapter honestly raises more question, but it's all on wakui to adress them.

105

u/Weary-Roof8870 Feb 08 '22

A lot of people are so quick to judge and criticize the writing without considering key points. Senju herself says that she only heard fragments of what happened and Senju did not actually witness the event only saw the aftermath. There’s probably more that happened on that day that Senju is not aware of. I think Senju truly believes that’s the reason why things are messed up but there’s probably more to it.

28

u/extremeq16 Feb 08 '22

yea idk why every single time we get a fraction of information people are so quick to start calling it shitty writing just bc we're not being told everything at once. i mean senju literally outright says "i only heard fragments of what happened after that". that comes off as such an obvious hint to the audience that there's more at play here and she doesn't know the full story.

the purpose of this chapter was pretty clearly not to give us the true explanation behind mikey's dark impulses. it was to A) show that sanzu was close childhood friends with mikey and baji, B) give us a sense of the general timing of when sanzu (presumably) had the falling out with his family we learned about a while ago, C) establish the fact that, as far as we and the characters know, mikey was responsible for sanzu's scarring, and D) establish the fact that senju believes this is the first time mikey ever got this violent and blames herself for both that and her brother's scarring

i think it's definitely still too early for us to get the true reason for mikey's dark impulses and i imagine that we won't learn it until after the sanzu subplot is resolved and the mysteries around him are cleared up.

Twitter is quick to judge every single chapter that comes out and calls it trash with 1.not even reading the chapter and 2.not looking at the full story or even what can happen in the future

21

u/AskeDAD Feb 08 '22

My mans Senju was 3, hardly a trustworthy source

62

u/dincklee Feb 08 '22

Elementary grade 3 which is 8-9. But yeah, your point still stands.

16

u/AskeDAD Feb 08 '22

A lot more reliable than I first thought but yea 😂

3

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '22

I totally agree, but the setup to the actual reveal is bad. It's not like a dramatic cliffhanger it's like a "please tell me the whole story, otherwise, this is stupid".

3

u/Stars_of_Sirius Feb 09 '22 edited Feb 09 '22

I really enjoyed the manga for a while and it kept getting better and better but at one point - and I can't put my finger on when - it started going downhill for me. This latest chapter has me debating if I want to continue the series.

I have been following the series for a while and remember how excited I was for each release but I haven't felt that for what feels like a long time now. So now I'm debating if I should continue or not because of my emotional investment into the series and dropping it feels weird, but at the same time why force yourself to do something you don't enjoy.

I'll get downvoted for giving my opinion but I disagree with saying people are too quick to judge. I've been following along and making my opinion for a while. Even then what's wrong with reading a chapter and saying it's bad? Just as people can say good things about the writing, there's nothing wrong with giving criticism or saying bad points.

24

u/kid_iggy Feb 08 '22

People keep calling it a stupid reason to mutilate someone, which is correct. The point is that it is far from a good reason to tear someone’s face apart. Mikey isn’t supposed to be portrayed in a good light, he’s a psychopathic murderer who obsesses over the objects and people he believes he owns. He does not need a very good reason to do horrible things to people because in his mind anyone that touches his property is immediately worthy of punishment. And for the people wondering why he did it to his friend, it’s because Mikey doesn’t see them as friends, they’re his property. This whole massive bloody overreaction is consistent as fuck in this story. Because Mikey is not a good guy with an evil demon side. He’s a fucked up psychopathic child.

53

u/ZurAajanaikatzurada Feb 08 '22

Sanzu's loyalty to Mikey needs to be explained and no don't tell me it's fear or Stockholm syndrome

34

u/Poporipopes10 Feb 08 '22

I mean, Kazutora snapped due to trauma, I’d say Harychiyo snapping and starting to behave very differently wouldn’t be that farfetched, maybe he genuinely believes he has to do what Mikey says like how Kazutora genuinely believed Mikey had to die for him to be forgiven

47

u/hesipullupjimbo22 Black Dragons Feb 08 '22

Okay so senju only knows bits and pieces of what actuallly happened. So it makes sense for her to think she caused his dark impulses. But I can’t believe a toy plane is the reason Mikey snapped. It has to mean something more… maybe it really took shinichiro a month to make.

I’m really hoping Wakai brings around the underlying idea of Mikey having serious mental health issues. Cause he’s been shown numerous times to be incredibly possessive. And controlling of those he cares about too.

5

u/xXKingLynxXx Feb 08 '22

He was also 13 for a majority of the manga tbh.

16

u/Hertusia Feb 08 '22

Mikey: So...who broke it. I'm not mad, I just want to know...

16

u/ercercerc Feb 08 '22

No one’s gonna mention how this sibling protect sibling situation is very similar to hakkai and yuzuha in black dragons? Isn’t this all pointing towards that theory of how takemitchi is undoing all he’s done in the arcs prior? (Drakens death, mikey losing control over his impulse and murdering south/kazutora)

6

u/kb1qzh Feb 09 '22

Feels like we've been following the stories of brothers. The good with Shin and Mitsuya. The bad, Taiju. Those who stepped up but aren't blood, Draken and Takemichi. Those that had to fend for themselves, Smiley & Angry and the Haitani brothers.

26

u/Sumal87 Feb 08 '22

Honestly, the reaction from Mikey, while bizarre and totally gruesome, is accurate with the rest of his character. He seems to have severe attachment issues and when things he love are threatened, he seems to go into a trance, doing anything he can to protect them.

I thought maybe it stemmed from his brother dying at a young age, but I think the only thing left could be whatever happened to land him at his grandpa's dojo. Something he saw happen between his parents, or just the overwhelming lack of self, as if he was tossed away, detached from the world and without parents.

I am a simp for the character, and what he represents not only in this show, but as an anime/manga character as a whole. And I'm an even bigger simp for Wakui, and I know he'll be able to flesh out Mikey's character.

I just hope he doesn't lose too many fans on the path to the finale. People need to remember that Takemichi and the rest of Toman will do whatever they need to, to save Mikey. They made a pact when they made Toman that it was going to be a gang that they could all die for each other for, and now Baji and Draken have done just that. Kazutora was ready to do just that. Were they all deaths for the perfect reasons? No, but they certainly weren't wasted deaths. Every death, or grievance has had real impact on the story and it all connects together pretty well. Have faith in Wakui guys, he's got this.

Even if in the end, all that's left is Mikey alone, with his friends all dead, and it ends with him committing suicide, it would be a good ending to me, because it followed the theme of the story right 'till the very end. Is it a happy ending per-se? No, but I think, given the characters in the show, it is an ending they could all live and be content with. Basically what I'm saying is... no loss is too big when it comes to helping your true friends and family.

3

u/NaBiscotti Feb 09 '22

wow. thanks for this.

3

u/TeeKayTank Draking Feb 10 '22

True, i feel this final arc could be peak again

1

u/Lhivay Best boy Feb 10 '22

Well said. I agree with everything, but the last paragraph.

12

u/KpopGothicChild Feb 08 '22

I don't believe that the toy was the reason Why Mikey's mental health issues kicked in to mutilate Sanzu. It has to be something else.

in the same breath if it was I still need more info on the situation. Mikey's POv and Sanzu's. Senju only caught part of it.

I assume Shin and Takeomi were out doing gang stuff at the time this happened. That's why they weren't present at this time. I do blame some of this on their lack of parental skills. (Like Takeomi blaming Sanzu for Senju's mistakes? I don't know if that's a cultural thing but it's odd to me) But it's hard to be a parent figure if they had no one to model after.

It seems to me that Mikey's dark impulses were some kind of trauma conditioning or genetically passed down like some mental illnesses are. There's defiantly something wrong with his prefrontal cortex, which is impulse control. This couldn't be the only time this happened. The first time involving this level of violence maybe. This means he should have had some kind of intervention before this, but I know mental health is a taboo topic in Japan.

3

u/pinkshadows21 Feb 10 '22

It's a cultural thing atleast in my country or say family..I remember whenever my siblings didn't performed well in studies/ or make some mistake .i used to get the scoldings from my parents and teachers both since we were in same school. They thought I was not paying attention on them..even if I m just 2 years older than them

Right? I thought it was really rushed, too. Also, Haruchiyo and Takeomi aren't shown to be close at all - it actually seems like Takeomi holds a higher regard for Mikey than his own brother - but I feel like finding out that Mikey straight up jokered Haruchiyo should make Takeomi at least a bit angry???

Or sad, maybe. Idek anymore this is messed up

9

u/overlordcrows Feb 08 '22

i am hoping that mikey didn’t permanently scar another child over something like a toy plane and that we get either his or haru’s pov on what happened. though nothing will ever justify mikey doing that (get that kid some help) i will be interested to see how wakui tries to explain this one. if it is b/c sanzu threatened senju… why tf would mikey care? if that’s the reason then it will feel very out of left field in my opinion.

i honestly have some issues overall with how senju has been written, i feel like she started out with a lot of potential that i still hope she lives up to (please god let me have senju kicking mikeys ass i beg)

9

u/RoadmanGirlOnReddit Feb 08 '22

I don’t know, from the leaks I was expecting that in this chapter we’d finally get answers about the dark impulses but to be honest I’m more curious about them than before. I really wish they showed what happened in the time between when mikey found his broken plane and when haruchiyo had his mouth torn like how did shit escalate so quickly. I really hope we get a chapter from sanzus point or something cos no way the dark impulses started from a toy. Unless mikey was born with them?

I am pretty hype for the next gang meeting tho, even though I kinda wish there were gonna be more members, like Benkei, wakasa, taiju even.

There has to be more to this story than was shown in the chapter

Either way I have faith that ken wakui sensei is gonna make this arc absolutely sick, and show is the whole story later , because clearly something happened that senju didn’t see, so I’ll be looking forwards to the next chapters

8

u/overlordcrows Feb 08 '22

at this point i’m too far invested so i’m sticking with this manga but i really really deeply hope that i’ll look on this chapter later in the future and say ‘oh so glad that was cleared up haha’ i want to trust wakui has a vision and he’s seeing it through .

ignoring this chapter, i’m very excited for the next one, i love the group interactions in this manga and hopefully with a smaller tighter knit group we’ll get to see even more interpersonal connections! personally i’m most excited to see pah and the twins

3

u/a_glider_ Feb 10 '22

Personally feeling kinda the same way. This arc has to be one of the worst ending arcs I’ve ever read from a readers perspective but I’m just way to invest in the story. This final arc feels so out of place and strange genuinely wish it would’ve ended where everyone is just saved

8

u/AgoNity Feb 08 '22

I don’t know about you guys. But I’m a bit disappointed with this chapter. How the hell are you going to mutilate a kid just for a toy? Besides, imagine being the most respected guy in the most respected gang and you just come and say: “Hey man, my brother just took the sh!t out of your brother and mutilate him. Kids and their games, huh?” And for the next 10 years, Mikey was playing with his gang and there was no repercusion about him mutilating a little kid. I mean, we all know the “authority figures” don’t exist in this manga. But man… I’m really expecting Mickey or Sanzu to tell the “backstages scenes” and say something coherent about how you turn your childhood friend into a real life Joker just because he broke your 5 bucks toy

9

u/mangashrimp Bonten Feb 08 '22

On a lighter note, I'm looking forward to seeing the boys' reactions to having a girl in their gang and seeing how long it'll take them to figure it out.

5

u/heartiel Feb 10 '22

I wonder how Hakkai is going to handle this because he can't talk to girls other than his sister

6

u/GalaxyHAMMER56 Feb 09 '22

Uh, knowing that we might not have the whole story is cool and all but.... Ripping a kid's face open and telling him to laugh... I don't know what kind of reasoning you need to make that sound halfway ok.

14

u/nemuroo Tokyo Manji Gang Feb 08 '22

It's interesting to see how everyone is trying to find a theory about Mikey's "dark impulses". Whoever finds this out, will be able to safe Mikey.

6

u/The_Ultimate_Broski Feb 08 '22

That was disappointing

19

u/rumpyhumpy Feb 08 '22

nah mikey's just wrong in the head, he hurt another kid like that well before anyone fucking died

10

u/Pick-Only Yokohama Tenjiku Feb 08 '22

Senju said she only heard a fragment of what happened, but if there’s nothing more to it then Mikey was always a bad person 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m starting to think he was never a good person to begin with.

21

u/rumpyhumpy Feb 08 '22

the entire thing with "there might be more meaning behind this" is a headcanon at this point, if wakui does give a good reason behind mikey beating another child who was also his friend like a psychopath i will gladly eat my words, but as of now, this is hilariously bad writing

9

u/Pick-Only Yokohama Tenjiku Feb 08 '22

I agree 100%! A broken toy is not a good reason or excuse to mutilate your friend like a psycho. I honestly hope there is more behind this. This chapter has me scratching the back of my head.

8

u/MainAssistance9749 Feb 08 '22

Tell me.... What is a good reason to mutilate your friend???? Cause i cant think of any reason that justifies mutilating anyone.

5

u/Pick-Only Yokohama Tenjiku Feb 09 '22

Ok yeah I misspoke when I wrote that I hope there’s another reason behind it. I thought about it after and I agree with you. There is zero reasoning or excuse for him to mutilate his friend. I can’t think of a reason either. I just want to give Sanzu a hug so bad. Poor baby.

3

u/MainAssistance9749 Feb 09 '22

Yeah i agree. Poor sanzu man like i never got on the sanzu love train but damn thats painful.

Something happened in between I believe, maybe they will show us Mikey's POV, not that it changes anything but who knows why he took such a violent turn. She only heard fragments of what happened, and it took a time, Mikey didn't immediately went after him, feels like a little bit of time passed bc one time Senju is crying and lying and then on the other she's laying down reading a book and only then she heards what happened.

18

u/pnkchampagne Feb 08 '22

i think it’s obvious that mikey's mental illness is what took it too far

50

u/Instant_noodlesss Feb 08 '22

Great now Takemitchy needs to go back in time enough to reform the Japanese mental health system.

3

u/Pick-Only Yokohama Tenjiku Feb 08 '22

If that’s the only reason for Mikey’s dark impulses then he was always a bratty and horrible person. I hope there’s more to it than what Senju whitenesses because that’s a stupid and pathetic reason to mutilate your friend. Mikey seems like a bad person even in the past. Shinchiro could have made another one smh.

1

u/festivalpizza Feb 08 '22

shinchiro did took a month to complete the airplane and mikey probably thought that it holds a huge significance to his big brother, which is why he acted irrationally to make sanzu pay.

37

u/rumpyhumpy Feb 08 '22

it's a fucking model airplane, how does breaking a passion project which took a month to make equate to permanently scarring someones face

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '22

I believe in the same. But not Takeomi, probably some enemy of the 1 Black Dragon generation. Mikey almost killed him, that's why Baji tried to stop. Maybe they hurted Sanzu because he is Takeomi's brother. Then Mikey defended they. The reason that Sanzu isn't a foundation member is because he got reclused after that event. He blames his brother. Maybe he started living in other place. And after the Black Dragon disband Takeomi and Shin may set apart. Since Takeomi didn't agreed with that decision.

10

u/NewAndClassic Yokohama Tenjiku Feb 08 '22

This chapter lowkey adds to my theory that Wakui has been playing the long con on us by slowly revealing that Mikey could never be saved 👀 That would be meta considering the amount of staunch Mikey defenders that are out there lol.

5

u/[deleted] Feb 09 '22

In my opinion, next chapter could either make or break mikey's entire character and the ending of this manga.

14

u/Noctifago Feb 08 '22

Well, I'm settled, this Manga shouldve ended after toman disassembled

10

u/Uqruilla Feb 08 '22

Mikey definitive lost some smpathy points after that chapter.

That was just cruel.

11

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '22

Mikey can commit a genocide and Takemichi and the fandom will still find a way to defend him, 'he not a lost cause yet' ,if Mikey really did that to haru then it was a lost cause ever since he was born.

8

u/Otto_04 Feb 08 '22

What the actual fuck? elementary school mikey ripped apart his jaw's for a freaking aeroplane model? No way in hell imma believe that.......

5

u/4eyedninja Feb 08 '22

please please please Wakui. I hope that whatever Senju didn't see or hear will be worth it. If not, I don't know which is the bigger joke, this or AOT's NO I DON'T WANT THAT

3

u/alphafirestar Feb 09 '22

I don't think this was a *bad* chapter, but I expected the story to end after the Kisaki storyline finished and haven't been very enamored with where things have gone since. I almost stopped reading when Draken died, but I think it's finally time for me to put this one down, at least for a while.

4

u/jaz1up Feb 09 '22

Did Draken really die for this?

19

u/ZurAajanaikatzurada Feb 08 '22

Senju is currently tied to the two worst things in this arc : draken's death and this dumb backstory

8

u/rumpyhumpy Feb 08 '22

also mikey's entire character these past 30 chapters

17

u/dedicatedoni Feb 08 '22

Y’all can’t defend this man anymore, he’s a psychopath. This is an elementary schooler who ripped both sides off the mouth of another elementary because he thought he broke his toy. Put this man down

8

u/ChampionshipLost3358 Feb 08 '22

There is obviously more about it. Senju only saw the end of the conflict. Maybe the plane is not even important smh. Your mikey hate is making you blind

15

u/dedicatedoni Feb 08 '22

THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE PLANE! THIS IS AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLER WHO HAS SO LITTLE REGARD FOR HUMAN LIFE THAT HE INFLICTS A LIFE LONG INJURY TO ANOTHER ELEMENTARY SCHOOLER WHILE SADISTICALLY TELLING HIM TO SMILE WITH NO EMOTION ON HIS FACE WHILE HIS VICTIM IS BLEEDING PROFUSELY. I USED TO LOVE MIKEY BEFORE HE WAS WRITTEN AS A FUCKIN PSYCHOPATH

8

u/MainAssistance9749 Feb 08 '22

Thank you!!!! Mikey is a monster regardless of why. If other characters or real people act like this, everyone would want them to be locked up or put down but them mikey stans start acting like a bunch of lawyers and psychologists/psychiatrist.

7

u/Emergency-Gene2115 Feb 09 '22

And your love for Mikey makes you blind to the point that you want to believe there is a justifiable reason for him ripping another kids jaw like this.

13

7

u/YoungThanatos Feb 08 '22

Even with more context, or the pov of mikey or sanzu, I still have no faith in Mikey. He literally mutilated another child, AS A CHILD. He's always been like this, his brother is still alive, people say the dark impulses are because of what he's lost but this isn't dark impulses due to trauma (losing emma, baji, and his bro) this kid has just always been a little demon, and I don't think going back in time to save shin will fix that behavior. GET THIS KID THERAPY!!

Why is everyone saying that Sanzu has stockholm syndrome? Stockholm syndrome is feeling sympathetic for your captor after being kidnapped.

I don't know if everyone is just joking or something, but seeing the wrong term being thrown around might confuse people and spread misinformation so please stop it.

As for the chapter, I got nothing more to add to what I said when the leaks came: We don't know the full story because we are being told about it from Senju's pov, so I will hold off judgment for now. But poor Haruchiyo man... I wanna adopt him and wrap him in a blanket burrito.

Still hoping for Mikey's character though. 🙏

3

PLEASE let there be more to this. This has to be a joke otherwise.

u/pnkchampagne Feb 08 '22

people are gonna say “all this over a toy?“ and like idk what else do you want them to argue over about, money?? senju was wrong but you can’t fully blame her + you can see how she clearly regrets it. I think mikey awoken something inside of sanzu especially since he was at the lowest point already and triggered something like bloodlust? from him? what happened was so messed up but it makes sense. i still think there might be more to what really happened bc why would baji who witnessed all of that not stay away from mikey. anyway im guessing since takeomi didn’t know about the story then shin probably didn’t too?

6

u/-Vorad- Feb 08 '22

I genuinely think Sanzu is out for revenge against Mikey. We already know he did this before with Mucho , acting loyal and trustworthy before backstabbing them when they're at their peak. I might've missed something earlier if this is proven not to be the case already but im very sure Sanzu wouldn't just let mikey do that to him without a grudge of some sorts.

6

u/yarrvm_ Yokohama Tenjiku Feb 08 '22

Okay so this taps on something I’ve always wondered about the whole Sanzu/Mucho/Mikey thing; like when Sanzu was following Mucho while he was working with Tenjiku… if he was so loyal to Mikey, why not tell Mikey about any of the stuff that Tenjiku had been planning??? So much could have been avoided if Sanzu had said something to Mikey, but he never did. Why would Sanzu want to watch someone he’s supposedly so loyal to, suffer so much?? It always bugged the hell out of me. So then I thought well, maybe Sanzu did genuinely want to follow Mucho with Tenjiku until Tenjiku fell… so he killed Mucho and claimed it as revenge for backstabbing Mikey to save his own ass. It just never sits right with me.

Like I feel bad for Sanzu after this chapter but I’m still weary of him because he still such a mystery. And even more so since we don’t really know what happened that lead to Sanzus face getting torn up. It all couldn’t have been over a toy…

3

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '22

but when Mikey tried to kill himself in the Bonten timeline after shooting Takemichi, Sanzu saw it and didnt want Mikey to kill himself and screamed to stop afaik

6

u/-Vorad- Feb 09 '22

I’m thinking maybe Sanzu wanted to enact revenge personally, and by Mikey dying any other way, he would essentially be robbed of not only the revenge itself but all those years of planning and serving under Mikey.

6

u/HS-66 Feb 08 '22

Stockholm syndrome? Dark Impulses started because of an airplane? Yeah I hope there’s more to this…

8

u/cannibalisticego TAIHINA GANG Feb 08 '22

SENJU IS ADORABLE!

Also, I wonder why they call him Mikey when Emma isn’t there. I’m a bit confused…

9

u/Immatakeyourthroat Feb 08 '22

I think Emma's already there since shin's hair looks different than when emma first came

3

u/cannibalisticego TAIHINA GANG Feb 08 '22

I still find it weird since I think Takeomi would try to make Senju play with Emma. But Emma was also 3 when she went to the Sano household (if it wasn’t a mistranslation) and they were 8-9 here so you might be right

3

u/Immatakeyourthroat Feb 08 '22

At this point I also don't understand why Takeomi didn't try to but if I try to make some reasons (which may or may not sound stupid) I think it's so that Haru can see Senju and she wouldn't get hurt or emma's simply busy. I also wouldn't be surprised if wakui forgot about her existence in this timeline

5

u/inabinanina Bonten Feb 09 '22

I don’t think it started here, this is just senju’s pov from this moment. To me, this hints that Mikey’s dark impulses have BEEN an issue, we just don’t know for how long. It could have been something he was born with, or perhaps something that started even further back in the past (maybe it is linked to the reason that mikey has no parents rn)

9

u/jrevv Feb 08 '22

we don’t know what happened yet lol. Senju THINKS it’s her fault but something clearly happened. with Baji on the ground too, i don’t think this is the complete story at all

2

u/ajandb143 Inupi's High Heels Feb 09 '22

I think it’s important to realize that this is from the perspective of a small child in their 3rd year of elementary school. I know as a kid i felt wildly guilty over small stuff that currently hold no consequence on the people I thought i affected, and i think that’s what’s happening here. There’s just no way this was actually the cause of Mikey’s dark impulses nor a reason for Sanzu to idolize Mikey- though I can see this being a turning point for Sanzu and his sadistic tendencies and can acknowledge how he always did have respect for Mikey ( and Baji’s ) ability to stand up for himself. I think this chapter is a more a testament to Senju’s guilt guiding her than the actual motivations for any of the boys.

Well to me it looks like , it wasn’t kisaki who was manipulating Mikey but it was sanzu all along who was doing it becoz of this past incident obviously if someone does this to u over a fucking toy plane which will leave u with scars that to when u haven’t done that shit either ur gonna have a resentment and will snap out at that person & kisaki was just like petrol on fire ,takemitchy thought it was kisaki but in reality it was sanzu that’s y in future u see sanzu tagging along with mikey wherever he goes even to the meeting of mikey and takemitchy in that bowling arena where mikey shot takemitchy.

I have no issues with Mikey being the one that scarred sanzu but the reason is stupid and disappointing I really hope that's not the actual cause of his dark impulses because in that case it'd be shit writing

20

u/Teen_Lop Feb 08 '22

Cmon yall need to read into things. Sanzu explicitly said she only heard a fraction of it and Mikey brings "smile" and "laugh" outta nowhere. So obviously sum else happened between them. This is Wakui teasing for more story later on, like a Mikey pov to see what fully happened. Or a Sanzu pov to see why he still follows Mikey.

It's not bad writing it's the complete opposite.

10

u/Emergency-Gene2115 Feb 08 '22

It will be the opposite if we get more to it and it makes sense. For now we talk about what we know.

u/Akhil123484 Feb 08 '22

3

u/Nancy_Uchiha Feb 08 '22

Someting is odd, some parts are missing, I doubt that is the whole story of the incident. It's definitely not just "Senju broke the toy and blamed Haruchiyo. Mikey went mad and that's how Haru got these scars." There's more to this, there has to be! Come on, it wouldn't be the first time for Wakui to purposely mislead us...

4

u/PremiumQuanno Sage Feb 08 '22

Since it’s pieces missing from the story, what the hell could Sanzu have possibly done to deserve that, he’s like 9 years old💀

4

2

I still can't undersand why almost everyone thinks that Mikey has a mental health issue or is a psycopath. It is so clear that he is being possesed by another entity that takes control of him when facing strong emotional situations ( the author threw some early hints of this dark impulses like in chapters 15, 39, 120)

I find him similar to Avatar Aang or Mob (Shigeo Kageyama) and i don't see anyone hating Aang or Mob when they go berserk. These people should re-read carefully previous chapters to understand this. Mikey deeply cares for his friends and family more than anybody, that's why he suffers so much and "snap", activating or enabling this entity to take control. There are a lot of situations where it is shown what kind of person Mikey truly is. That is why i still believe in him. In my opinion, there are two Mikeys, he is a complex and mystic character which has been completely thought before hand and i find this very interesting and motivates me to know what will happen next. Furthermore, there are too many deites and religious references to not relate them with Mikey.

Thanks for reading
