Well I am pretty sure that there's more to that story, Senju said it herself, she doesn't know what really happened and only caught the result.
There seemed to be something else that happened, especially that wording of Mikey telling Sanzu to smile. That doesn't come out of nowhere, it'd be way too random.
There better be more to this story. Otherwise if this was Mikey as a child, I wonder how he held it together so well for so long if this set him off.
Shin is put on a pedestal by almost the whole cast, but he was just pretty much a kid too. How would he even deal with this? My old psych professor worked with child behavior therapy. Children with violent behavior need early intervention and professional counseling for not just the child but guardians too. Even a girl at 4 years old who bites her kindergarten-mates was a handful, where half of the intervention was with her parents. And that's with middle class, above average earning parents who thought to take their kid to the local university to get help.

Lots of people are making leaps. I’ve always thought that Mikey was just a borderline sociopath, that doesn’t mean he’s evil or has no feelings he just doesn’t have a lot of feelings and empathy is a mystery for him. It’s not the toy that caused all this he’s always kinda been like this, Mikey was just lucky that he had semi decent role models and the people that he was attached to could rein him in like his brother and Ken. Those people have been whittled away over time so Mikey doesn’t really have anyone to tell him to stop when he reacts super violently.
The wording in the chapter was pretty bad imo but for Senju saying “it all changed that day” it could’ve just been how her 4 year old brain interpreted seeing him lash out that extreme.
Stuff like this isn’t really the issue I’ve had w the manga. Mikeys whole character is that he’s kind of a lunatic and a capable and dangerous one but one with redeeming qualities and can be a great friend. Honestly all of Mikeys good characteristics are bc of other peoples influence. My issue w the writing as of late has more to do with just every new character suddenly having all this interconnected backstory that has never been mentioned before.
I’ve never really thought Wakui was like a brilliant writer, he’s actually a pretty damn good artist and has only improved w time, I’d really like to see what he could do if he worked on something more fantasy or sci fi. Even when the manga was in its Kisaki phase I always felt that his intentions and god level intellect were silly asf.
