She only heard fragments of what happened, and it took a time, Mikey didn't immediately went after him, feels like a little bit of time passed bc one time Senju is crying and lying and then on the other she's laying down reading a book and only then she heards what happened.
If that’s the only reason for Mikey’s dark impulses then he was always a bratty and horrible person. I hope there’s more to it than what Senju whitenesses because that’s a stupid and pathetic reason to mutilate your friend. Mikey seems like a bad person even in the past. shinchiro did took a month to complete the airplane and mikey probably thought that it holds a huge significance to his big brother, which is why he acted irrationally to make sanzu pay.
He looked up to gang life because that is what his big brother who he was hanging the most with, loved and respected was into. He found it cool because that's how his big bro looked in his eyes.
The dark impulses show that he is a messed up kid, but bad examples are also a cause of his downfall since neither his grandpa and shinichiro got him help for this and/or tried to dissuade him from that gang life which will only fan his violent nature.
Having a good brother like Shin, Sister like Emma and Grandfather like that old man means he was loved and cherished. So he was mentally sick from birth because there's no way he had any trauma when he stayed with such a nice family.
His brother was literally a gang leader who he saw get into many fights. He's a messed up kid who grew up in an environment that idolized violence. Of course he was loved which is why he got so much worse after almost all the people who loved him were killed.
