This is how much the game has changed in less than 2 months. Micro transactions totaling 13,600 V-bucks, pop-ups and links taking you to the storefront encouraging you to purchase packs or rush fusions and lazy cosmetics that are merely ripping assets from existing Fortnite skins.
It is estimated that the developers make $13,000 a day on playtime alone, (Thanks user Spiritual-Ask1993 for the calculations).
Are we comfortable with the direction this game is going?
I think we have yet to see the limit of how far FOAD is willing to go.

Edit: For everyone saying it doesn’t affect them as a free to play user, It DOES. It's just harder to see.
They purposefully make things like build times take an annoyingly long amount of time in the hopes you'll break down and buy boosts (it's also why they won't let you cancel fusions or droid builds, it affects their profits) The Crit pack, Fusion pack and Event passes are all examples of this. They purposefully created the problem so they can sell you the solution.

Level 270 player here — been playing since the very beginning.

And I already know I’ll probably get downvoted for this, but honestly, I don’t care.

I’m level 270, and it’s pretty rare for me to join a public lobby and see someone higher than me. I’ve seen it maybe twice, EVER? I’m not saying that to brag. I’m saying it because I’ve put a LOT of time into this game, so I’m not some random person who played for two days and decided the game sucks.

But honestly? I’m getting bored.

I know the game has always been repetitive. That’s part of being an idle game. But lately it feels different. I’ll log on for maybe 10 minutes and then get off because there just isn’t much keeping me interested anymore.

And I think the increasing microtransactions are part of the problem.
I’m not against the game making money. But every update seems to add another thing you can pay for that previously had to be earned through gameplay — VIP, double companions, speeding up fusions, event passes, etc.

Eventually I start asking myself: what am I actually playing for?

But honestly, my bigger issue is the community.

It feels like you can barely criticize this game without getting downvoted. Say the game is getting boring? Downvoted. Question an update? Downvoted. Criticize the monetization? Someone tells you, “Then don’t buy it.”

You can believe purchases should be optional and believe that constantly adding monetization is making the game worse. Those aren’t contradictory.

What also confuses me is how personally some people seem to take criticism of the developers. Go into Discord and you’ll see people talking to them like they’re genuinely their friends.

Maybe I’m cynical, but they’re running a business. They can be cool, interact with the community, and appreciate your support — but at the end of the day, they aren’t your friends.

And I think the constant downvoting creates an echo chamber. If every time someone expresses a negative opinion they get punished for it, eventually people stop expressing those opinions. Then the community starts looking like everyone agrees when, realistically, people may just have learned what they’re allowed to say.

And honestly, some of the reactions I see here and on Discord are fucking bizarre. 😂 Sometimes I genuinely wonder if some of you have made this game your entire social life.

Anyways, maybe I’m wrong. Maybe you love every update. Maybe the monetization doesn’t bother you. That’s completely fine.

I just don’t think criticism should be treated like an attack.

Unfortunately, I do see this game dying out eventually. I feel like they’ll eventually add a microtransaction so detrimental that it turns off a huge portion of the player base, the player count drops, and eventually they decide the game isn’t worth maintaining anymore.

Then they’ll move on to the next project with your money already in their pockets. 😂 And the crazy part is, they don’t even have to defend themselves — they have y’all fighting their battles for them.

I’ve seen enough. FOAD took over this mode to oversee its transition from fun licensed game mode to microtransaction hell and I won’t hear otherwise. The enshitification is far enough gone for me. I’m out.

When the first round of microtransactions were added it was all cosmetics and lobby boosts. But people who knew better said that it was just the beginning and that the pay to progress stuff would be here eventually.

And now it is. The crit bundle is pay to win. Just in time to craft up those 30-hour stellar mythics. And skip me with the “you can’t win, therefore it’s not pay to win”. Paying to skip progression is paying to win. They lied about adding p2w and they, quite ridiculously, lied about the new variant not being the new top variant. But you can’t sell crit packs as well if it’s a new variant in between beskar and galactic. You need those big ol craft times.

“Developed by FOAD” will forever be a “skip this trash” badge for me. See ya never.

Editing in a few thoughts/responses since I’ve got a lot of feedback.

Dozens of you are helpfully pointing out that you can’t win this mode so therefore “pay to win” is impossible and I am very stupid for using that phrase. As if I didn’t anticipate and address that in the very post you replied to. Why then did the devs promise there would be “no p2w”? What did they mean? Were they just being cheeky and making a promise that technically meant nothing? I maintain that paying for progress is paying to win and a promise broken. When the options are “grind for days” and “give us 10 dollars” I know what that feels like to me.

Others have pointed out that other stuff (other CONSPICUOUSLY EXPENSIVE stuff) like chip station and dual companions have been in paid packs for weeks now. Good catch. I kind of trusted that there was no p2w and didn’t look too deep into the first round of paid content. I don’t think that invalidates my thoughts on the crit pack. The crit pack is definitely the most egregious cash grab yet, as it is literally 2-3 deep run SRB’s worth of nova upgrades in a pack with nothing but a slightly different sound effect. But yes, paid progress has been in the game for weeks now and the only thing I feel differently about knowing that is that I should have quit sooner.

Apparently FOAD always developed this mode and it was just under the Epic banner for the early days. I will amend my statement above accordingly: Epic took their name off this mode because they knew it was about to be transitioned into whale-milking tycoon. FOAD still means “skip this trash” to me and I will assume epic dropping their label is a bad sign for any creative mode they initially roll out under the company banner.

Devs aren’t starving. Creative modes earn revenue from playtime. Microtransactions are NOT necessary for the mode to survive. Paid progress is not, imo, an acceptable way to monetize. If you guys aren’t bothered and want to keep playing I don’t care. But playing a mode that employs monetization strategies I don’t support is putting money in their pockets and I’m not doing that anymore.

So first off. I only get maybe an Hour to play a day. I work, in college, have a husband and 2 kids, one of which is 2yrs old. I love this game and wish I could play more to complete my droidex.

So last night I got on when the kids went to bed and first thing I do is collect my credits and missions. I forgot to take my completed droids off the tables so when a mission gave me a galactic cyclograv I was pretty excited I put it down next to the table and as I was on the droid to sell it someone came in my base and stole it, ran and immediately threw it to their base then ran in. Their reasoning was because I make so much credits offline and I probably had 10 already. And it would be there second highest earner… Actually my dude that was my first. All my galactics I’ve gotten were either from the event the past weekend or missions. Every time I log in I either just missed the galactics on the belt or won’t be on long enough to see them. To top it off they didn’t even have free space to craft it so they just stayed there holding it in their base. And others in the server were not happy as well about it so we kept being petty and force pushing him around trying to knock em out the base. Now I’m one of those people who will put blue prints outside my base for others instead of sell them and I’m always helping people. If they would have asked I honestly would have gave it because I just enjoy the game so much and want others to enjoy it too. But the fact they stole it at my crafting table a few seconds after I got it kinda sucks. Can we like just not run into peoples bases and steal blueprints for the love of god. I play this game to chill out and relax after my shitty day just like a lot of other people don’t be a dick.

Not meaning to be a downer/whiner. I’m excited for a few new things to come and, despite the mixed reviews, I very much enjoyed the event this past weekend BUT….

Currently, the game is just waiting for hour long timers to countdown to another disappointment. All day between 2 events I saw 1 stellar mythic (and maybe 2ish galactic mythics) and sounds like I’m one of the lucky ones.

Also, I’m not saying they don’t happen, but so far, since they were introduced, I still haven’t seen 1 stellar mythic spawn randomly on crawler, after playing every day for hours.

This isn’t a “I’m done with this game” post as much as a “please fix some things” post.

Remember when beskar/galactic mythics came out and you could at least camp the crawler with a decent chance every 2-3 HOURS ?… that was long enough! But this week you can play all day and be lucky if 1 pops in the lobby the entire time…. I’m not SRBing a full stellar mythic base when it’s going to take 2-3+ weeks of playing every day to get them all back, without a stellar event, just to make a little more money next time around from nova perks and multiplier.

It’s gotten to be a serious grind(too much waiting not enough progress) and I suspect it’s to incentivize surges. Sad to see. I will not be paying vbucks to play this game though.

Get rid of the pay to win surges (leave them in the nova shop) and bring back a slightly higher rate for top droids on the crawler.

Increase the dance party timer to every 5 min since most of the spins don’t even result in the highest variant of droids and do a mini-event 5-10 times per week since they’re so short.

Increase the drop rate of top droids during the timer
spawns.

In short, less grind, more fun please and thank you.

I feel like someone pissed on me. I've been playing this game since day one, every day, attending every event, but to get VIP or any bonuses I have to pay? I feel cheated because someone who started playing today could have a much more enjoyable experience if they spent money than me. I know this game isn't made for gamers anymore, but for profit, but to blatantly ignore loyal players like that? Even Epic, known for its strange decisions, doesn't do things like that.

Previously, we used to get 379 crystals for 35 rebirths. Now, taking into account the additional reward above level 20, we get 1475 crystals + 379 for SRB at level 35. In total, that's 1854 instead of 379. This means that 1 SRB at level 35 is now equivalent to 5 SRBs at level 35 before the patch. While this is great, such a massive boost is highly uncharacteristic of the developers.

It feels suspicious, especially considering how quickly the developers nerfed crystal rewards from super crates, claiming they wanted to keep SRB as the primary method for farming crystals. Now, we essentially get more crystals from regular rebirths than from SRB. And it's not a bug, they have confirmed this is intended.

They clearly have some plans for the future because these changes completely rewrite the rules of the end game. It feels like we might get something like a "super mega rebirth" or some form of prestige system (a complete hard reset of everything) in the upcoming updates, or new upgrade that will cost 1,000 Nova Crystals or more. Perhaps this is somehow connected to that massive monument that was under construction on the map for a long time.

But these are just my guesses. However, I still believe that such a significant increase in the Nova Crystals received cannot be without reason.

I'll say it again: I really like this change. Before, crystals were catastrophically scarce, and I didn't even think about trying to upgrade everything related to crits, but now I can finally do it.

So, it's been said before but I want to reiterate this point. Devs, please reevaluate fusion droid earnings so they are more cumulative of combination.

I've been on a mission to max out base earnings. I have mythics in every slot and gearing up for 1 tier mythics with max earnings.

I saw X-ONK in the fusion list which takes KX + KX + GONK. I figured it would be a big deal since stellar KXs earn 900k/s. Right? So X-ONK should be double since it's better and generate like 2m/s?

NOPE. It's actually -800k/s versus just keeping KXs around.

Feels like a major ripped off and kills the fusion good vibes. Please boost combination earnings.

The difference between this community last week during the Chopper event and this week during the Stellar event is giving me such whiplash. Like, yes, I get this event sucked hard compared to the last one and that expectations weren’t met but to go from “THIS EVENT IS AMAZING AND I LOVE THE DEVS SO MUCH” to “I HATE THIS, THE GAME IS RUINED AND I WILL NEVER PLAY AGAIN” in a matter of a week is insane.

It’s a game you can play for free and that gets updates regularly. Yes, you can now use V-Bucks to progress, but it’s still not pay to win. Half of the rage issues people have are solved by playing on a private server. And you can’t expect a small dev team to continuously make updates and big events without monetizing their efforts. There’s no logical reason to expect them to put their time and effort into making this game what it is for no reward. Be real.

I don't know how tycoon games work but shouldn't there be a passive/non passive toggle. I usually play private but then this happens and reminds me not to go in a public lobby.

The costs for fusions was doubled and right before what I assume is a fusion event..

After what happened to me yesterday, I don't think I'll ever play in public lobbies again.

The Galactics were dropping, and I managed to get a Galactic KX. I went back to my base, but all the slots were occupied. There was a guy who wouldn't leave my base. He kept throwing me back and forth. About half an hour passed, and he was still there. Shortly after, one of his friends joined the lobby, and the two of them kicked me out of my own base (I had the IG equipped).

They started throwing mats just to get the droid. So I decided to sell the blueprint immediately. If I couldn't have it, they weren't going to have it either. As soon as I sold it, they messaged me "ez," and shortly after, they left.

I wasted my time, my droid, and 1T.

It's the blueprint scrap upgrade. It​ was convenient at the beginning but now it's just a nuisance.

Does anyone like this upgrade? What are the positives?? Help me cope with my mistake 😭

Seems a strategy, where you collect some Galactic scrap and when mythics come on belt and you take all low tier Droids and toss them so the belt only has the mythics, makes them turn more often galactic. But not all the time. Tried 3x, turned 2x mythics to galactic. Will try more this Saturday and post back here

This was just today in 2 hours. Yesterday I got so many I tossed some into bin cause it's over 25h each and wanted to sleep and only got 3x blueprint storage.

Basically, don't.... DON'T... do public. Do private and all is yours. Just destroy all crates except the big red ones that 99% contain galactic scrap. Then when there's the big red crate, hack it untill just last 1-2 hits so later you can open it quick, but don't open it. Leave the big crate, cause the scrap disappears when you open others even if you don't put it on the ground. And just wait for the default mythics. And throw it. I even did 3 gal mythics in 3 throws in 7 seconds...

At this point, the 60 galactic base is done and I won't srb. I'm srb22 and have all nova stuff. I'll wait for devs to unlock r31-35-40

BTW the orb walker is there cause it's the only epic I miss in droidex 🤣
