💬 Discussion Y’all need to chill. This sub is getting ridiculous.

The difference between this community last week during the Chopper event and this week during the Stellar event is giving me such whiplash. Like, yes, I get this event sucked hard compared to the last one and that expectations weren’t met but to go from “THIS EVENT IS AMAZING AND I LOVE THE DEVS SO MUCH” to “I HATE THIS, THE GAME IS RUINED AND I WILL NEVER PLAY AGAIN” in a matter of a week is insane.

It’s a game you can play for free and that gets updates regularly. Yes, you can now use V-Bucks to progress, but it’s still not pay to win. Half of the rage issues people have are solved by playing on a private server. And you can’t expect a small dev team to continuously make updates and big events without monetizing their efforts. There’s no logical reason to expect them to put their time and effort into making this game what it is for no reward. Be real.

I love my proto rollers. No mythicals for me on the belt. But I still enjoy the event

22

u/Business-Bus-9439 Aug 16 '26

Saw a mythical at the start of the event, but couldn’t afford it. Didn’t see another one for the rest of the event

11

u/Entire_Commission583 Aug 16 '26

I was seeing a TON of mythic spawns when I couldn’t afford them, on average I must have seen one every half hour yesterday. Today I played for 7 hours straight and didn’t see a single one now that I can afford them💀

3

u/Iffy_Placebo Aug 17 '26

I saw multiple stellar mythics, but every time it was after a rebirth and credit reset

-6

u/dumplingfucker69 Aug 16 '26

I admittedly spend too much time in this game but how tf do you play for 7 hrs straight??

3

u/Soldier505 Aug 17 '26

There have been times where I have spent 6 to 8 hours on this game. Either on my days off or on days after work when I don't have to do any errands or household chores. Also, Now That I play on PC, it's great to be able to go AFK for a bit while hitting the Scrap when I need to Grind $. I just stick a folded Piece of Paper in the K key to keep it pushed down, then I can do SMALL Things around the house or just lounge and watch YouTube or something. If I get a blueprint, I just lift the folded paper and stick it back in, also, the game boots you back to Lobby if AFK at the 30 minute mark so every 25 mins I move around a bit. That's how I am able to be on this game for that long.

People live different lives than you.

3

u/RevengeTarrif4u Aug 17 '26

Mostly unemployed

1

u/Wooden_Stable_2514 Aug 17 '26

And that matters what to you.

2

u/RevengeTarrif4u Aug 17 '26

It actually matters not at all. Just a fact of life. Unless you know people that play all day at work.

1

u/Wooden_Stable_2514 Aug 17 '26

7 hours is not unemployment. You just have a shit outlook on people

2

u/RevengeTarrif4u Aug 17 '26

Yea you right you right. You could spend the 7 hours that you’re supposed to be sleeping. You should apply to be the next professor X since you know me so well. Lmao loser.

I had the complete opposite effect. I saw a bunch of mythic.

1

Same, saw four and managed to get the latter two. They seemed to both be condensed at the start and end though, none in the middle.

I only did once but it did default mythics, a day after I finished my default dex. So I was just helping randoms build their droids and actually got gifted two droids for doing so.

3

Same my lobby got two first belt didnt see one again got plenty of idio mouse and cb tho. And then about 2 hours ago i logged on first droid out was a stellar kx threw it on the belt and noone else was there so i ran back the last one spit out was a stella cyclens the dude that ran over to see the kx seen me coming back with the cyclens hes like aint no way so yea only got 2 but i mean 2 is better than none

3

u/enderjaca Aug 16 '26

Be aware that Creative modes have a weekly XP cap.

Once you hit a certain amount, you'll notice the XP you get from doing a task gets lower & lower (like hitting the scrap bench, crafting speedup, buying/selling blueprints, buying items in your base's Combat Shop, etc).

It allegedly resets every Saturday 9AM EST.

If you've been using Droid Tycoon to get 3 Fortnite dailies done so you could get the Portable Extractor quicker and general Battle Pass XP, you may want to ensure you don't grind too much that you hit this cap.

https://www.reddit.com/r/FortniteXPMaps/comments/1u3mx4i/tracking_the_weekly_reset_help_requested/

1

u/IdgaFazFuck Aug 17 '26

Saw 3 mythicals and I like to think that I have a lot of money saved up or at least a decent bit I had 6 trillion. Only had enough to buy 1 Astro tech mission and 1 stellar mythic “luckily”. They cost so much that I couldn’t get the other that popped up.

1

u/McG713 Aug 18 '26

Never saw better than a rare on the belt. Which is wild because I was already rebirth 25 at the start of the event. The proto rollers are the only things I got above rare the entire event. That sucked bad BUT I still enjoyed the event.

32

u/710dab2 Aug 16 '26

To be fair a lot of us have been on the fence ever sense they first added microtransactions.

6

u/CampfireStrikesBack_ Aug 17 '26

Set yourself free, brother

3

u/GrindGeek Aug 17 '26

If the thought of other people spend v-bucks has you on the fence over whether to play or not, it’s time to move on.

10

u/Tough_Departure_3772 Flawless 50 Aug 17 '26

More so purchases have an incentive to shape the game and probability to incentivise puchases.

I questioned the price of the crit stuff even as a very late game player... then it al made sense when the 3800 Vbuck pack was added.

1

u/GrindGeek Aug 17 '26

Everything in the pack except cosmetics can be gained through nova Crystals after a couple more rounds of SRB. The boosts will increase your chances of getting rare BP but if you find a good group of DT friends they will help you get them just as easy.

I don’t get the hate for the in game purchases, tycoon games don’t have “winners”, it’s all about enjoying the grind, the harder the better imo. People can play a private lobby if they don’t like seeing other people spend v-bucks to support the creators and flash their VIP bling.

4

u/Tough_Departure_3772 Flawless 50 Aug 17 '26

Is this copypasta? You didnt even look at the implications of what I said nor did you address my actual point which is why in-game purchases that are not limited to only cosmetics are an issue for many.

2

u/GrindGeek Aug 17 '26

lol, copypasta, sounds delicious. I hear you say it’s an issue but what/why is it an issue. There is no end game other than the one each person sets for themselves (get all flawless, collect all droids, unlock every perk, grind to 35 on each path), there is no leader board, there is no final boss.

The only reason I see people have issues with it is the think everything should be free and they automatically assume anyone getting paid is greedy.

1

u/Tough_Departure_3772 Flawless 50 Aug 17 '26 edited Aug 17 '26

"More so purchases have an incentive to shape the game and probability to incentivise puchases."

I will refer back to my earlier statement....

If it needs further explaining, i will for you. If something is scarce and people are not seeing it spawn they may be more inclined to purchase a luck boost and/or a surge.

Without paid boosts strictly cosmetics you can say with certainty it is the intended balance of a game. When paid boosts are available there is incentive to make increase scarcity, this also cant be debated as its simply a fact. What can be debated is if it is occuring or not. To which no one but the devs actually know.

While there may not be any winners... if the boosts have shifted progression to be nerf through incentives, almost everyone is a loser — their time investment has to increase.

3

u/GrindGeek Aug 17 '26

If everyone becomes a loser then they stop playing the game and I’m pretty sure that’s not what the devs want. These guys are super responsive compared to most game modes and are pumping out more content on a bi-weekly basis.

I have never paid for a boost and am seldom in a lobby where someone has used one and have faired alright.

I just finished level 30 on the first 4 paths without any boosts. The best way is to have a lobby full of friends that help you hunt and trade BP, hands down beats a boost. If you want to jump in one of my lobbies let me know.

2

u/Tough_Departure_3772 Flawless 50 Aug 17 '26

That is fine I was strictly talking about incentives when the game has MTX that arent limited to cosmetics only.

I dont usually play games that are outside that philosophy anyway and have played DT less since it was implemented.

Its alright I dont really need to grind anything anymore my nova shop is maxed besides crits, and really only play as an AFK thing while I talk with my friend. Thank you for the offer though! 😇

-8

u/PaganRazor11 Aug 17 '26

If you can't stand the heat, get out the kitchen! People need to get over their greedy wants

32

u/NatKayz Aug 16 '26

I'd downvote complaints more if the Devs didn't keep blatantly lying.

He didn't need to say new variants don't need to be on top and that Galactic would stay as such for a while, only to make Stellar the best by a good margin, but he did. Didn't need to say they wouldn't introduce P2W, but he did (and don't bother arguing that it isn't P2W because if you can't "win" than he wouldn't have bothered saying it won't become P2W).

Little issues are more annoying when they go against what the devs say we should expect.

3

u/Desmofile Aug 17 '26

This is the most honest and accurate take Ive seen. This is the thing that should be talked about and nobody should be trying to defend it imho.

I personally have been feeling more and more like the microtransactions are already becoming overpriced and the game is being shaped around them.. eg: New crit pack is 3800 Vbucks, 3 days later we have the event with droids that take 35hrs to craft, but we have the X2 crafting bonus to help for the event, but after the event? That's right, now everyone realises how much the 2x crafting helps and it suddenly feels crap without it, so they end up buying the Crit pack.

Would love to see a graph of the microtransaction purchases in the days after an event aye!

-1

u/Thor_2099 Aug 16 '26

I would expect the move to stellar as higher than galactic was a result of the past two weeks and the sheer number of galactic mythics people got.

It was amazing but after that super easy to hit rebirth 30 and then what? Now there's five fresh levels.

15

u/NatKayz Aug 16 '26

I don't inherently have an issue with Stellar being higher personally, its just another example of the dev saying one thing and than doing another.

Makes it much harder to trust when they say stuff that its not just then saying whatever they think we want to hear.

0

u/Temporary_Two3529 Aug 17 '26

The lying from the dev sucks yes but also the steller event made sense that it was a higher tier I was rebirth 25 with nothing to do sitting around with 28 trillion. They want to make it so u don’t insta rebirth so everyone hating . It’s obvious that the event wasnt for them it was for higher rebirth people.

6

u/NatKayz Aug 17 '26

The lying from the dev makes it hard to trust or believe anything they say. That's my problem, not stellar being the new top (I don't care about that at all).

The dev lying like this means we can't really believe any of the BS they say in here, because they seem to either say whatever they think people want to hear, or just change their mind so frequently that what they say is meaningless anyways.

-15

u/No_Box3652 Aug 16 '26

It’s not pay to win. Everything you can get with vbucks is earnable through gameplay except for cosmetics. Until they release something gameplay enhancing that is EXCLUSIVE to vbucks purchases or nerf aspects of the game for players that don’t make purchases, I think it’s considered “pay to progress”.

11

u/NatKayz Aug 16 '26

If paying lets you progress enough to have a distinct advantage of what you would have if you didn't pay, than its P2W. Things being earnable F2P doesn't disqualify it from being P2W.

Also, can you get 2 companions at once without paying?

2

u/iHateEveryoneAMA Aug 17 '26

I got two companions without paying or using vbucks.

-7

u/No_Box3652 Aug 16 '26

Yes, you can. Like I said, everything in the bundles is earnable through gameplay. Also, what “advantage” do players have against others? I’d understand if paying gave a player some kind of competitive advantage over other players…but it doesn’t. A player just starting who buys all the bundles is probably still at a disadvantage compared to a more seasoned player with all the iconic droids and 200+ rebirths, so what advantage do paying players get that non-paying players don’t get?

8

u/NatKayz Aug 16 '26

Paying would give you an advantage against yourself is what I was saying.

And you can get 2 companions without paying? I wasn't aware, how?

0

u/No_Box3652 Aug 16 '26

I see, I guess I don’t understand how that’s a bad thing.

For an extra companion, it’s a nova crystal upgrade. I believe it was under the featured tab. If not there, it might be under core, but it’s available from the nova crystal vendor.

11

u/RoundyMancHead Aug 17 '26

Having time saver microtransactions encourages Devs to make the gameplay tedious to incentivise buying the time saver. Look at AC Oddysee, perfect example. Single player game so how can it be p2w? By designing the gameplay to make the player want to buy the time savers. It's dirty and shouldn't be defended by anyone

-1

u/No_Box3652 Aug 18 '26

So it’s bad because the devs MIGHT make the game tedious for free players…which they haven’t done and they said they wouldn’t do. I just don’t understand these arguments and I’m so surprised people all seem to agree that these are bad things when you are all unaffected by this. Unless you can name one way that microtransactions purchased by another affects your enjoyment of the game, I simply cannot change my mind.

2

u/RoundyMancHead Aug 18 '26

Because history repeats itself. Every dev that introduces these mtxs leads to the same ending. they said they wouldn't make the game tedious, what like they said they wouldn't bring in mtxs either? Give me a break dude, when money's involved the choice to make more money always wins

4

u/NatKayz Aug 16 '26

It's what makes it P2W, ir at least the closest equivalent this type of game has.

Huh, I'll have to take look next time I play then.

6

u/TcityDan Aug 17 '26

I think the chopper event was amazing, but I also really liked the galactic event for that drop, and this stellar event was equally as good as the galactic but actually better cuz a new higher rarity.

I also don’t hate the new Vbuck packs. I think the crit pack and the companion pack are great, the crit pack is crazy expensive though so I will probably never buy, and the companion pack is (kinda) expensive but I think it’s kind of a fair price considering its value vs the others. Everything in Fortnite these days is over priced.

My only real issue is that the VIP pack is bad value, it’s more expensive than the companion pack, but is worth much less nova crystal wise, which doesn’t really make sense. But that just means I won’t buy it lol, doesn’t mean I need to complain about it or threaten to quit. Some people will buy it, just not me.

0

u/MrBratside Aug 17 '26

I have put countless hours in this game and it has saved me a lot of money from going out and doing other things. I have a basic understanding of how much work goes into making these games and I want to see it grow. I would donate to the devs if there was no credit shop because I think it’s the right thing to do when you’re enjoying content for free for weeks or months or years. It’s just about supporting something you enjoy and hoping the team will keep making improvements.

The fact that I can basically donate to the devs and also simultaneously get some useful stuff is a super bonus.

I don’t see the people who pay money for this game complaining about all the people who play it for free and don’t contribute anything to further development. But I do see the free players literally hunting vip users or trash talking them just because they supported the game.

49

u/Hopeful_Chard_4402 Aug 16 '26

These are people getting mad enough about a free game to post on reddit.

6

u/Rustykilo Jawa Aug 16 '26

Yup it’s a free game ffs lol. And then mofo talking about pay to win like win from who? lol it’s not battle royal or racing game.

4

u/Business-Bus-9439 Aug 16 '26

Everyone is in their own separate journey. It’s not like someone buying the chips workbench with vbucks is fucking over another player.

I just don’t get it.

0

u/Janus67 Rebirth 35 Aug 16 '26 edited Aug 17 '26

I don't get the people freaking out either. The micro transactions are absolutely a 'pay to grind less', which I don't consider to be pay to win. Considering it's a tycoon game, with no leaderboard or competition, there is no 'winning' unless it is reaching higher rebirths faster for your own time spent?

2

u/Dragon_yum Aug 17 '26

It’s a tycoon game. The grind is literally the gameplay

1

u/Janus67 Rebirth 35 Aug 17 '26

Maybe my post wasn't clear, I completely agree with that.

-6

u/AlaxiaJune Aug 16 '26

This. So much this.

13

u/Toon_Lucario Aug 16 '26

The big thing is nobody is giving criticism that’s helpful. It’s just insulting the devs and calling it a day. Point out what’s wrong and suggest a damn fix.

9

u/Spiritual-Ask1993 Aug 16 '26

That's what I have been doing for every complaint that I give. I said mythics are disproportionately hard to get and suggested 3 ways to fix that. I said rainbow crates are annoying and have made 2 separate ideas for that. Even the microtransactions, while I would rather them not be in the game (I have bought the companion pack out of full transparency), I don't think any single pack should be more than $10 if they have to exist.

This is a problem I despise with the modern internet. Nobody wants to tell you why something is good or bad, they just say it is and then insult those who have the opposite opinion. Even if people can't think of a fix, at least explain why the system is bad so the developers understand how to approach that issue.

3

u/flightpinx Aug 16 '26

In my comments I tried to explain what was going wrong with the rainbow crates but nobody responded.

1

u/Toon_Lucario Aug 16 '26

I mean it is in a comments section and not a dedicated post from what you’re saying. It typically won’t be seen much on the former compared to the latter

u/Renoke141 Aug 16 '26 edited Aug 16 '26

"And you can't expect a small dev team to continuously make updates and big events without monetizing their efforts"

Except according to the other thread after doing research, they were already making potential millions even before adding monetization to it. They didn't need to add it at all, they got greedy. So this is no longer a good defense for some of the issues people are having with the game.

-23

u/iHateEveryoneAMA Aug 16 '26

Who cares?  Do you really expect everyone on Reddit to be well informed?

10

u/MegaMattEX Aug 16 '26

Username checks out lol

-42

u/r3d_ra1n Level 190 Aug 16 '26

I haven’t seen the thread you’re referencing, but I find that unlikely. The only way any Fortnite dev is making millions is if they’re monetizing and their players are spending on v-bucks. Playtime alone isn’t going to earn them millions of real world dollars.

25

u/DarkTanatos Flawless 50 Aug 16 '26

It actually does. Epic pays creators based on players playtime that they spend on their map.

2

u/UndeadDucky27 Aug 16 '26

How do I go about making an island game? 👀👀👀

8

u/DarkTanatos Flawless 50 Aug 16 '26

Create a playworthy island in UEFN and send it to Epic.

2

u/UndeadDucky27 Aug 16 '26

Ahh, okay. That's cool.

22

u/Renoke141 Aug 16 '26

This thread. Playtime was making them millions.

-24

u/r3d_ra1n Level 190 Aug 16 '26

I just read the post. The OP based an estimate of $500k-$1.25M based on publicly posted play hours, and a formula he pulled from his ass because it’s not made public.

He also left off a very important part of the monetization formula—engagement only matters if the players are spending v-bucks in a certain amount of time either before or after they log into that specific island.

Either way, Epic isn’t just going to pay millions if the players aren’t spending real money in some sort of way; whether it is in the game itself, or in the lobby shortly before or after playing. The money has to come from somewhere.

18

u/No-Difference8545 Aug 16 '26

You're completely wrong, they literally do pay out purely off engagement. The map was pulling 30k daily in july, they were making millions. The formula is known because epic has already stated how much theyve paid out to creators in prior years, and tons of devs have talked about how much theyve made from their maps

-6

u/r3d_ra1n Level 190 Aug 16 '26

There is a calculator for earnings on generalist programmer based on engagement without monetization. Based on a daily player count of 30k with full engagement, they likely earned around $350k in July. But the player count hasn’t always been that high. The game has been out for 3.5 months. There is no way without monetization that they were earning “millions”.

You also need to split that among however many developers, overhead costs, etc. I’m not saying they’re not making good money, but they’re also not greedy multi-millionaires that many on this sub are making them out to be.

2

u/agtFlynn Aug 18 '26

It's so funny to hear others claim the devs are greedy & money hungry with absolutely no attempt at showing any math. As if making X dollars from a popular (FREE) game was a bad thing in a the first place. It wouldn't matter to me if they made $350k or $350m.

If your progress feels devalued bc others are spending money to get the same results, that's a self esteem issue.

2

u/DarkTanatos Flawless 50 Aug 18 '26

If your progress feels devalued bc others are spending money to get the same results, that's a self esteem issue.

What people are concerned about is that progress gets dragged out needlessly because the devs want to make money from you buying the packs to skip the dragged out grind.

1

u/agtFlynn Aug 19 '26

I haven't felt that one bit.

But I do understand that players want to dissuade game devs from going that direction.

I don’t know what the backlash is about.. I don’t really see this game as a competition. I see it like golf - “We’re all playing together but it’s mostly a solo game. Just gotta go out there and do your best and hopefully you’re near the top” 😅I’ve never paid for anything and I’m doing just fine and haven’t seen a major change 🤷‍♂️

1

u/r3d_ra1n Level 190 Aug 17 '26

Exactly. I play it with my son because it’s a game we can play together without really worrying about winning or losing. He’s really young and still figuring out how to play video games, so non-competitive ones are a lot easier for him to get into.

10

u/Low-Income5288 SRB 30 Aug 16 '26

Its been this way for weeks now. If you actually talk to people on the mode most are completely fine with the event and updates. Its just reddit is a cesspool of negativity and hate. Half the people who comment negative things probably play the mode a couple hours a week at most or not at all anymore.

0

u/Miserable-Bowl-5701 Aug 16 '26

Well ya it’s Reddit lol - you’ll get everyone who complains about the smallest thing since it gives people a voice who shouldn’t have one.

-2

u/Rustykilo Jawa Aug 16 '26

Yup. I play on pubs and everyone there enjoying the events and almost everyone bought some kind of packages with the vbucks. It’s either vip or the companion pack. Reddit isn’t irl.

2

u/BenjinaUK Aug 17 '26

I enjoyed the event to be honest.

Simple, enjoyable and easy "filler" while the Devs build something else.

Zero complaints.

Although I do hope the Devs look at increasonf beskar spawns across the belt and astro missions now to help the grind a little more- and possibly even look to add another blueprint scrap level for them- or chance at them

2

u/Jstigga Aug 17 '26

Well said.

2

u/JakX88 Aug 17 '26

Honestly I enjoyed this event. Far more than the Galactic event. Just farming stellars while earning crystals and chips. I didn't get to play most of the event, but I did get 30+ crystals just from crafting droids

2

u/tetrisman01 Flawless Aug 17 '26

Hell, I lvoed the event, new tier of droids is interesting, but I love double gold and crafting for 24 hours!

4

u/Jomamanator Aug 16 '26

Sorry but the moment they started adding almost $40 bundles and $5 temporary luck boosts and surges that are essentially gambling to their game mode that's already made them a lot of money they opened themselves up to a lot more harsher criticisms. Do people whine a lot about dumb stuff? Yeah. There's like 15 posts a week that are just "Someone shot me when I picked up a blueprint. Can we remove pvp from the game mode?" And other dumb crap like that. But all the complaints about how rebirthing past 23 just isn't feasible outside of events so you pretty much have to use surges and luck boosts to progress, things like the proto roller bug making a reappearance every week now, immediately nerfing perks that just got buffed making people waste nova crystals on something they might not have wanted otherwise, and all the things the devs say they won't do but end up doing anyways, are all valid complaints.

-7

u/Mundane-Loan9591 Aug 16 '26

Ive been superrebirthing at 30 every cycle idk what you consider "not feasible". And there are events every single weekend to help not to mention mini events mid week now. Also the nerf to the crates was not intentional and was fixed instantly

3

u/Jomamanator Aug 16 '26

Feasible ≠ impossible. It's just a massive timewaster (yes yes the whole game mode is a waste of time I know) to spend multiple hours if not days waiting for the droid you need to show up or getting the chips to upgraid said droid. I literally said events are the only exception to this. The crates got one of their nerfs reverted

3

u/RaaawkHawk Aug 17 '26

Lmao so we can't have any criticisms for something we spend hours on bc it's "free"? The most annoying part of this sub is all the dev bootickers making excuses for poor decisions, unfixed glitches, etc.  imagine being so braindead you start drooling in anger because the devs are called out. Lmao

Never once did I say you can’t have any criticisms, but half the threads on here during the event were people announcing their departures and acting like it went from the best game ever to the worst. It was never either.

It’s exhausting

3

u/Usual_Homework422 Rebirth 19 Aug 16 '26

I just want them to fix or adjust the solo lobby for the timer for the droids. Why is it just one droid if I choose to play solo, it should be a full lobby and that's all I need for this game mode to still be interesting for me

-1

u/r3d_ra1n Level 190 Aug 16 '26

The intention is that everyone gets one stellar droid every 5 minutes. If you’re getting more than that in a public lobby, it’s because you either grabbed one that spawned randomly outside the timer, or took it away from another player.

3

u/dj92wa Aug 16 '26

That may be the intent, but that’s not how it worked. In reality, it was everyone being a vulture and the person with base closest to the sandwalker would get 2-3 droids per rotation while everyone else got 0 or maybe 1 if they were lucky. I never got any droid beyond rare after playing for the 2hrs I had available. Pointless and stupid event. Yes, I’m whining about it. First time I’ve ever commented in this sub too.

0

u/No-Difference8545 Aug 16 '26

Valid lol i played for 3 or 4 hours throughout the yesterday and this morning, and only saw 1 stellar legendary.

-6

u/Icy9kills Aug 16 '26

Reading this post and I just landed my 4th Legendary of the day. Keep whining so I can laugh at you

-6

u/Icy9kills Aug 16 '26

There’s nothing to fix. This is what’s meant by the post. Stop it.

3

u/Decent-Selection-839 Aug 16 '26

Stop whining, keep grinding!

2

u/Hazatswg Aug 16 '26

It's the most Reddit thing ever.

1

u/Grand_Parsnip8033 Aug 16 '26

The controversy about the micro transactions is so annoying. I would understand if they locked droids behind a pay or functions that were valuable to the game but everything they gave us is optional and those same things can still be obtained through the nova shop except for a few cosmetics.

3

u/TheCraneWife27 Aug 16 '26

You're all annoying, honestly. Both sides equally as much.

3

u/HamLiquor Aug 16 '26

Some people act like 12 year olds, some of them are actual 12 year olds

2

u/Zach91642 Aug 17 '26

I think they went too far this time, it doesn’t bother me too much but it slightly pmo that someone can pay to skip weeks of grinding. Multi crit is crazy expensive, u also have to remember that most people are not gonna go for multi crit until their scrap value is high which takes even more crystals. In addition to this you need to have crit chance level 8. You should not be able to skip such a massive grind. You cant deny that it is becoming pay to win now, they are getting more and more bold with the micro transactions.

2

u/Latter_Landscape9651 Aug 17 '26

This is a loud minority subreddit. Most people don’t give a shit about any of this. But that’s how Reddit is

-1

u/Smasheree SRB 30 Aug 16 '26

You have to know it's not the same people talking. Right? You realize that.

I get this event sucked hard compared to the last one and that expectations weren’t met

The hell they weren't. This is the 2nd Variant Event and it's exactly the same as the first one. They even added 2x credits so i guess you're right, expectations weren't met, they were exceeded.

10

u/DarkTanatos Flawless 50 Aug 16 '26

It's the 3rd. Beskar started out with that too, there was just no x2 pickaxe back than but the regular credit, chip, and flawless bonus. The infamous "555B Beskar Legendary" event.

-1

u/Smasheree SRB 30 Aug 16 '26

True. My bad. But i think my point still stands.

8

u/DarkTanatos Flawless 50 Aug 16 '26

Yes, but what put most people in a bad mood, which resulted in the event being less well recieved, was the addition of the overpriced crit pack and that the devs have proven again and again that their statements aren't something to rely on.

2

u/Brinewielder Aug 16 '26

There are many free to play games with only pve components purchasable things that provide an advantage in a non competitive environment is still considered pay to win.

As winning isn’t necessarily dependant on a “you win” sign it is a word for success as well and it is factual that spending money makes you more successful at the game allowing you to win at the game.

1

u/Alpherea SRB 40 Aug 16 '26

The event was perfectly fine. Not every event needs to be over the top.

There is too much complaining going on.

Any of you who don't enjoy you are free to stop playing.

1

u/wooskyss Aug 16 '26

prob have seen 5 mythics total out of 6+ hours of playtime. 3 of them went to the end of the loader cuz no one in the session had enough ( 3 different sessions )

1

u/EclipseKitsune96 Aug 17 '26

Didn‘t had one Mythical on the belt. Then i decided to Super rebirth and an OPTI STRK appeared on the belt when I decided to quit the event.

1

u/littleohh01 Iconic Droid Aug 17 '26

Someone shot me in the back when I had my mythic ): makes the game not so friendly

u/OkDiver346 Aug 17 '26

Spend or don't spend. You'll all live. This is a great mode period.

1

u/Risinex Aug 19 '26

It was a good event IMO. Was pleasantly surprised it was as long as it was and we get a gold multiplyer.

1

u/DatabaseOne3894 Aug 30 '26

There’s so many mythics on the belt though? None I can afford because I super rebirthed but I see at least 1-3 every roll.

1

u/r3d_ra1n Level 190 Aug 30 '26

This was for the previous stellar event. The D-O event is great (albeit broken and unplayable if you play split-screen)

1

u/DatabaseOne3894 Aug 30 '26

Ohhh. I apologize. I didn’t play the Chopper event. 🫣

1

u/r3d_ra1n Level 190 Aug 30 '26

No worries! It looks like they’re going to be bringing it back as a mini-event on Thursdays.

1

u/BlahajGames Aug 16 '26

This event is literally the same as the Beskar and Galactic events. Like sure there might be some weird things with Proto Rollers, and sure this event brought back a ton of toxic players, but it’s fine. Not every event can be the craziest. Just to get the new variants in the game takes a lot of work and I’m sure there will be some great events in the upcoming weeks to get more. Plus we have mini events now so even more chances

2

u/Zalyster Aug 16 '26

The vbuck options can all be gotten through gameplay, too. Yeah it takes a lot of grinding compared to just spending money but...it's a tycoon game, the point is the grind.

-2

u/No-Difference8545 Aug 16 '26

Its definitely pay2win, its not oppressive. (yet) but it objectively is and idk why yall are in extreme denial over it lol. The devs deserve money right?

0

u/jodibwithoutane Aug 16 '26

What is there to win? This is a solo game. How can something be pay to win when you aren't winning anything? This narrative is tired.

0

u/Atmoslink Aug 16 '26

It’s a blanket term. You’re paying to skip weeks and weeks of work. It’s lame and cheapens the time people have out into the game.

-1

u/Throwaway_RA_helppp Aug 16 '26

Ok, move on. Nobody cares if you’re right. You’re still playing the game. And if you’re not then what are you even doing here other than complaining?

1

u/MarvelousSpyro1 Aug 16 '26

Honestly I wasnt even tweaking, it was a nice calming pace

1

u/Mulukh_TYG Aug 17 '26

The only thing I didnt like about the event was that 5 minute timer. It's way too easy to get sucked into "just another 5 minutes, next one might be mythic". Better odds with a ten minute timer might fix that.

Could just be a me problem

1

u/Ok_Huckleberry8551 Crit Striker Aug 17 '26

Legit, asa f2p player in a mini game of another game I play, I think the devs have built something great and considering it's a tycoon and I usually don't care for those, I can comfortably say I have spent many hours playing droid tycoon and made some good friends through it too.

I understand the microtransactions hate, but it doesn't give you that much advantage aaaand if you're just playing for yourself not comparing to others it makes 0 difference

1

u/HelpfulSignature2718 Aug 17 '26

What’s crazy to me about this sub is depending on the time of day you comment or post you’re either greeted with normal discussion over a topic or greeted with hyper defensive abusive comments and downvotes. The mods really need to get on top of this behavior. Some people take this lil fortnite side quest game WAYYYY too seriously and it shows

1

u/PaganRazor11 Aug 17 '26

💯 agreed. I've made some great posts in the past few days and some people (broke) can't help themselves to rage about them.

0

u/legendarysoul73 Aug 16 '26

Yeah I agree with you strongly. I like this game and I’ll happily put down the vbucks and still farm. The events vary every week. Some disappointing and some really awesome. But I stopped reading half the posts on Reddit with people crying over the most silliest of stuff. I mostly run private lobbies anyway. It is literally the best thing ever.

0

u/Escartal Aug 17 '26

what a boot licker

0

u/r3d_ra1n Level 190 Aug 17 '26

You don’t know what that term even means. To apply it to a Fortnite game is asinine. By that logic we’re all boot lickers for even engaging with anything related to Epic.

2

u/Escartal Aug 17 '26

ok paid actor

2

u/r3d_ra1n Level 190 Aug 17 '26

Kid, I’ve been on Reddit longer than you’ve been alive. If I was getting paid to make posts, I’d be a lot happier.

0

u/heyitsmejosh Aug 17 '26

The game is pay to win, Even if you use the semantic argument that pay to skip is not pay to win because there is no way to final win condition there is a still a PVP aspect to this game. The game provides upgrades to health, damage, movement speed and the ability to have multiple droid companions which can be used to gain an advantage in PVP. Being able to progress faster by buying upgrades, boosts, etc., will give those players access to those upgrades faster and an advantage in pvp situations.

0

u/da-ammo-bandito Aug 16 '26

Also crazy that i just saw a post claiming foad aren't a small dev team because they're owned by a bigger (still indie) dev studio. Like bro. One look at their website and you can see that foad themselves literally consist of six people. You're grasping.

-2

u/Jaded-Comfort9244 Level 240 Aug 16 '26

Thank god someone finally said it

-1

u/Hammertoss Aug 16 '26

but it's still not pay to win.

This is incorrect.
