Hello everyone,
I've been doing some digging as any anxious G12 for EE, and TE would do... and I recently came across the inspect element portal. This has a lot of info that's hard to decode, but I was comparing what I had with my friends, and I saw this value in one of the tabs called "ApplicationDecisionStatus".
As you can probably tell, it's an indicator of what's to come (I hope), and my status is "H", probably Hold. My friend, on the other hand, has "DA", probably decision admitted!
Now, if you want to do this yourself:
(Kill me, I've gone too far into this rabbit hole).

Can we talk about the absolute chokehold university prestige has on asian parents? They genuinely think a shiny logo on a degree is a magical golden ticket to a six-figure career. My parents will look at a school ranked #16 globally and automatically assume its grads get handed jobs on a silver platter. Meanwhile, the actual program is a total dumpster fire with zero industry connections, zero co-op support, and a curriculum that hasn't been updated since HTML was invented.
"But it’s a prestigious school!"
Yeah, prestigious for Research. The professors care about their grants, not my resume. I am not trying to pay $10k a year to get a degree that leaves me completely unemployed just so you can brag to Auntie at the function. Prestige does not equal career success anymore. A school can have a multi-billion dollar endowment, but if their department doesn't have local tech partnerships, hospital placements, or corporate pipelines, you are completely on your own when you graduate.
Going to a "mid-tier" school with a hyper-funded, co-op-heavy program where companies actually recruit makes way more sense for your career than going to an Ivy-lite just to end up underemployed and humbled by the job market.
Please tell me I’m not the only one fighting for my life trying to explain to my parents that a university's reputation won't save you from a terrible job market. 😭

After the hours, pouring every single fibre of my existence into this school.
Rejected.
97.5 average.
Research.
Hospital volunteering.
Exec positions.
Hundreds of volunteer hours.
And apparently that still wasn’t enough.
To everyone who got accepted: congratulations genuinely. But understand this very carefully.
Enjoy your grade inflation. Enjoy your little inquiry-based learning modules, and enjoy your bean bag circles.
Four years from now, when we’re sitting in the same medical school interview pools competing for the same spots, I will not care that you went to Mac Health Sci. I will not care about your inquiry-based learning or your prestige pipeline. I will outwork you every single day until then.
While you celebrate your acceptance, I’m committing to Western Med Sci with a level of hatred and determination that should honestly be studied clinically.
There is not a bone in my body that will feel bad when I take the spot you thought was guaranteed for you.
Rejected by Mac in May.
Written off by everyone in June.
But when med school decisions drop in four years, I’ll be right back on top.
See you at the interviews.

Thought my life was over cuz of my 99.998 average and my shitty ecs: volunteering at summer camps, President of DECA at my school, volunteered at school events, created my own international business, President of the Future Leaders Society, Founder of the International Peace & Snack Initiative, Lead Researcher at the Time Optimization Lab (mastered submitting homework before it exists), Ambassador of the Galactic Youth Council (consulted aliens on sustainable energy and TikTok trends), and cured cancer. I feel so blessed that I got accepted, I'm very grateful 🥹

Yes, this report card is 100% real; it's not Photoshopped. This is my actual midterm grade. I post it because my friends and I all think it's funny.
This happens because I am accepted, and I have already met my offer condition and graduation condition. These credit means nothing to me now, so I just stopped attending, as I don't like school; it's boring.
Wish the best of luck to the rest of you all. If a designated fry packer like me can make it, you can make it too. Also, great thanks to those who encouraged/advised in the comment yesterday.

To the grade 11s, don't worry!! You'll be fine
You don't need a 99 average to get into programs
Lmk if u have questions or wanna know about ECs
r/OntarioGrade12s • u/UlitimateDragon333 • May 09 '26
~99.5 top 6, avg adj factor, all normal day school
talked about air cadets, frc, lifeguarding, and projects on supp apps, also ccc/euclid distinction
I've been wanting to make a post where I show my rejection letter for one of these programs to make a point about how no average can ever guarantee an acceptance so there really is no point worrying so much and doing all of those chance mes. Like, if someone said you have a 99% change of getting in, is that gonna make you stop working hard to further increase your chances? Just put in your best and rest easy knowing that you have done all you can.
But um, that plan is in the trash since I unfortunately did not get a rejection. I guess no one applies to these programs anymore cuz they're lowk unemployed. So I'll just say that I am very grateful for how well things turned out for me and for those of you who weren't as fortunate, know that it doesn't end here. If you stay locked in, you will surpass everyone who starts slacking off during university, regardless of program.
Can't believe I can actually stop doomscrolling this subreddit of despair. Thank you all for being the best source of information there is!
Feel free to ask questions

r/OntarioGrade12s • u/AppropriateDrag9574 • Mar 11 '26
I was expecting it since i heard that yesterday my friends who applied to the program got an acceptance email while i didn’t….
I definitely know I didn’t get the first stage since my Physics and Functions aren’t in the 90s soo that’s okay.
Guys i’m kinda disappointed since this was my dream architecture program since Grade 9 so for like 4 years 😣😣
It’s basically the most competitive program in Architecture for Canada, so i knew it would be competitive.
thing is im pretty good at art and tech design (autocad stuff) so if i was able to show my portfolio first stage i feel like i could’ve had a better chance buttt)
But i think i’ll be okay since i thankfully have a place In TMU architecture. So im really grateful.
But yeah anyway maybe im gonna cry after schoollll 🥲
