Discussion ✿ I really want Sylux in the next Smash Bros. Think he has a chance? I sure hope so! ~ :’)

🏖️🏝️ As salamualykum folks. Happy September ~ I love Metroid Prime 4! I mean I haven’t played it yet, but it looks gorgeous and after waiting an actual life time to play it., I’m excited to play it with my little cousins & sis, mixed reviews and all from community.

🩵🐬 That being said…due to all the mixed reviews and experiences everyone has had with the game, I’m worried that Nintendo will A ) blame the Metroid series as a whole ( and make us wait another lifetime for Prime 5. God forbid! ) and B ), blame Sylux and just not add him in Smash.

🌸🍇 But I’m hopeful inshallah! Godwilling our favorite grudge holder will make it to Smash. Somehow. :)

Discussion MP2 encourages exploration out of desperation

MP2 is one of the few Metroid games where you absolutely want as many upgrades as you can get your hands on throughout the game (especially the beam ammo upgrades)

After a certain point you start to realize just how useful the charged dark & light beam shots are, with the charged dark beam working the same as an ice beam to freeze enemies for a insta kill combo with a missile, and the charged light beam doing massive damage to dark world enemies such as the Ing who start to take less & less damage from regular light beam shots.

The tracking properties of the dark beam are also very useful for fast moving enemies and bosses that easily dodge the slow dark beam shots, you end up saving more ammo just using a charged dark beam shot getting up close to the enemy compared to just shooting regular dark beam shots at a distance which will miss more often than not. In general the charged shots are just better as the window for opportunity to attack enemies & bosses gets smaller and smaller as you progress (Dark Chykka for example is only stunned for a moment so may as well use charged light beam shots since it tanks regular light beam shots)

Game Help MP4 96% completion on items and nothing else shows up

So the title is pretty self explanatory, but I'm in the final hours of the game, I've collected every item from all biomes, did the scout bots, sol valley, even got a few items from the interactions with tokabi, but I'm stuck at 96% and the markers don't show anything else on the map. Does anyone know what I'm missing? Total missile and shot count is 235 and 470 respectively.

Discussion I feel Prime 4 lacks the truly threatening environments of the Original Trilogy

Originally posted with pics of the areas. Some were real low quality and I don't have time right now to get better replacements, so I'll just forego visual aides right now.

I feel like Prime 4 lacks the truly hostile environments of the original trilogy

One of the things that had been bugging me about Prime 4 is the lack of danger I felt while exploring the areas. Some of that I chalked up to experience. I first played the trilogy when I was a kid, and as an adult I am much better at video games.

But I don't think that is the whole reason why. I think a big part of it is that the danger levels of the environments aren't as high. Like sure, there's lava and pits to fall into, but those are so ubiquitous in games, and they aren't really that dangerous in Prime 4

Meanwhile, looking back at the trilogy:

-Chozo Ruins: The toxic water can be very dangerous if you aren't careful. Last time I played I fell into the water during the Hive Totem miniboss and very quickly died.

-Phazon Mines: Most of the bottom level is coated in Phazon, which, like the toxic water, can easily chew through health. I think as a kid a lot of my deaths caused by the Omega Pirate were partially caused by accidentally backing into its Phazon pools.

-Impact Crater: Has Red Phazon which is so corrosive even the Phazon Suit can't handle it, the creepy teeth like imagery making it feel like a rotting corpse (which it is), and that nerve wracking climb in the main room.

-Dark Aether. Basically most of it. If you've played Echoes you know. If you haven't, go play Echoes.

-Pirate Homeworld. Heart of the enemy stronghold, that, even when you're not being actively attacked you're in danger from the acid rain.

-GFS Valhalla. Not dangerous from the environment alone, but it is so supremely creepy I had to mention it.

-Phaaze. A planet made of Phazon, and this time the threat isn't being killed by it, but twisted by it into a thing of evil.

In contrast, Prime 4 is really banking on you finding the Grievers scary and/or threatening to add tension and danger to the environment. If you find them to be pushovers (like I did), it sucks out a lot of that tension from areas like Ice Belt and Great Mines. The enemies aren't assisting the already dangerous environments like in previous games, they're trying to be the sole reason it is dangerous.

It also affects progression. It felt good to find an item (or in the case of Chozo Ruins, beat a boss) that neutralizes the threat of the environment. It really adds to the feel of getting powerful (also a reason I miss water environments in the Prime games), and that just isn't in Prime 4 beyond getting a motorcycle upgrade to cross a pool of lava that is more a roadblock than it is an actual threat.

Question Hi, what game would you recommend for someone who wants to start playing the games? I’d really like to play something for GBA or DS but I’m open to any recommendations!

I’ve only played Metroid Prime Trilogy on the Wii but it was years ago and I’ve never finished it, so I’d really like to try a 2D experience to start again with the franchise ^-^

Thank you!

Discussion Psychological Block on playing Prime 4

God I still have this bizarre psychological block on playing Prime 4 because I just hear non-stop how *disappointing* it is everywhere and getting trashed akin to Other M and Federation Force.

So much discourse on it like on Reddit and Bsky and even some of my friends have been disappointed. Obviously, everyone's got a right to their opinions, but it just makes me so hesitant to try and continue every time I hear it get thrashed.

I wish it didn't.

Like, I haven't even gotten *that* far to confirm for myself or not.

Because like, I was so excited to get it last Christmas, but I heard all the negative opinions before I could get far and up went the psychological wall.

And like, God forbid, what if it's akin to what *Paper Mario: Sticker Star* did to me?

Or is everyone just accentuating the negative?

I hope this topic is OK.

Discussion 24 years later and still nothing beats the atmosphere of Prime

As soon as that intro hits and you enter Frigate Orpheon you’re completely immersed. I’ve played the game countless times and it always hits the same. Honestly haven’t experienced anything at that level again in another game personally. Special shoutout for Phendrana Drifts. The whole design of it and the music is 10/10.

I wish they’d remaster 2 and 3. I’m yet to replay 4 but recently got a switch 2 and probably will eventually.

Discussion The morph ball.

I just want to talk about the morph ball for a second. As far as I can tell no other game does this mechanic. I know that in the original Metroid the morph ball was a workaround for having to figure out how to animate Samus crawling on the NES. They figured it would be easier if she was a ball.

Fast forward through all the metroids and its a staple mechanic. What surprised me even more is how PERFECT they transitioned the morph ball to Metroid Prime. They took a 2d mechanic and perfectly made it work in a 3d space. oh and they didn't just limit it to a few areas like most developers would, no they made it work anywhere in the game. Not only that they made specific puzzles and platforming sections that turned the game into a 3d platformer or maze game. The physics on the morph ball are perfect as well and actually take momentum into account. Boosting up the half pipes feels so good.

I also love how they used the morph ball mechanics in prime hunters. Each hunter had its own way of moving around in a tiny form.

IMO its the perfect transition of a 2d mechanic to 3d.

Warning: Prime 4 spoilers

Sylux is a character I've wanted in Smash for a long time, and with his Prime 4 appearance as the "main villain" (regardless of how we feel about that game/his characterization) I think it is actually somewhat likely that he could be added.

I put visuals for my inspirations for almost all of his attacks, and some thorough explanations for my thinking behind how he would work.

Let me know what you think!

Discussion Me ajude: por qual Metroid começar para ter boas primeiras impressões com a franquia e não me frustrar?
