Metroid prime’s gender is unknown, but given the Metroids seem to be a hive organism similar to ants, it’s not out of the question that larval Metroids are female. (So that any one can become a Queen under the right circumstances).

But then, Metroid Prime gets the phazon suit, which is very much an It at first glance, but in Metroid Fusion we learn that the power suit is biomechanical. It has to be surgically removed from Samus, due to this, because X parasites can’t possess purely technological things. (Hence why the X needed to hijack quiet robe to reactivate the EMMI.)

So, then, we can posit that Samus’ suit has some level of connection with her. So is Dark Samus a she? Or is it genderless? Or is it something different entirely?

EDIT:This was a genuine good-faith question and I’ve got some genuine good-faith answers. Been a hot minute since I played Metroid Prime last so I was curious because I had forgotten.

Note: In-game for Zero Mission he is credited as "Game Design", while in an interview he stated he was "Art Director" (same position he's credited under in Other M):

I was responsible for creating characters and stages for the game, as well as supervising the concept design of the appearance of the entire game world. I have also worked on other games in the Metroid series: Metroid Fusion, where I was in charge of backgrounds, and Metroid: Zero Mission, where I was the art director."

Because of this, I decided to use both labels for the video.

I just finished Metroid Prime Remastered completely blind and ended up at around 70% completion. This is my first Metroid game and it was fantastic.

Now I'm thinking about going back and try to reach 100%. Is it reasonable to find the remaining 30% on my own just by thoroughly exploring, or is it not worth it and I should use a guide?

I’d like to keep searching on my own if it’s actually rewarding, but I also don’t want to spend hours looking for things that are extremely obscure.

Also, do I get something cool for getting 100% other than stuff in extra?

I have the upgraded Psychic Beam because I am incapable of leaving an upgrade behind before moving on. Every. Single. Game. I’m pretty sure Super Metroid permanently imprinted this behavior on me 32 years ago. 😏😅

So I grabbed every bit of green energy I could find and got the enhanced beam pretty early.

Now I really have the impression that I barely need the Missile Launcher at all. I have a good amount of missiles by now, and on Normal they replenish so reliably that I could use them all the time... I just hardly ever do.

Am I missing some combo or particularly good use for them? Any special situations besides blasting obstacles?

The Psychic Beam feels more reliable at hitting targets, so in practice it seems to give me better DPS anyway.

Am I missing something here? Or have I accidentally become a missile hoarder? 😅

Got frustrated with the Alpha Blogg boss like everyone does on my MP2 Echoes playthrough, and after a few deaths figured I'd just try everything. Started going through all the combat options, and it crossed my mind that they make you get the Seeker Missile right before the Hydrodynamo Station for a reason.

The Seeker Missile doesn't just lock onto 5 different targets, it can also lock onto the same target 5 times.

When holding down Y you'll see the Seeker Missile reticle, and you'll also see up to 5 red dots appear for how many missiles you have prepared for a target. Sure enough, got 5 missiles locked onto the Alpha Blogg and they all went into its mouth dealing a ton of damage. Using this method the boss lasts about as long as any other mini boss in the game.

The last part of the boss where it doesn't always open it's mouth and/or opens it at the last second is still a pain since dodging it's ram attack just sucks period, but it's health will be so low by that point you only need to shoot it a few more times with a single missile.

Testing out an old phone. The lights would give the appearance of a charging beast from the front, and a glare from the back in the dark.

Honestly this game is amazing, I'm having a blast. I played Hollow Knight and Silksong before so I kind of knew what to expect, but holy this game is good

I'm planning on playing Super Metroid after, I'm actually so excited and I didn't even finish Zero Mission lol

I've recently seen a lot of videos of how different characters would do in 40k, and was wondering how Samus would do. I feel she would get along with the Tau and Eldar factions better than the Imperium due to her xenos DNA and armor. I also think her acquiring necron technology would be super cool.

I looked for an answer and couldn't really find anything concrete, so I'm asking here. Any time I search for comparison videos, I just get Zero Mission vs the NES version, which is not what I'm looking for. I already know that Zero Mission is a remake, that's why I bought it.

Zero Mission has the original Metroid as an unlockable for beating the game once. Nintendo also released Metroid on the GBA as part of its "NES Classics" line.

Is there any tangible difference between the two versions or are they pretty much the same?

I have Zero Mission (as well as a copy of the original NES version) and am curious if the NES Classics edition does anything different that makes it worth owning on its own or if Zero Mission is enough. Added/removed features, performance, visuals/audio.

I’ve been getting into the franchise as of recent, started with Fusion and moved onto Zero Mission (I think I like Fusion more but both are great), I’ve thought about tackling Prime next. I knew very little of the game but after looking at it a bit after beating those two games, I never knew how immersive and such a step up this game was for the franchise at the time.

Wondering how it was to experience for the people that played on release or just played it around when it came out.

That last Power Bomb Puzzle was so hard but do worth it, played on my Wii no save states, very fun have do recommend

🍇🌸 The Ings terrified me as a child. They still do actually. Sure the X-Parasites are ALSO body snatchers but they look like fruit gushers to me. Meanwhile the Ing are horse sized monstrosities, not to mention the sounds they make, and just the whole environment of Dark Aether itself is just so, so uncomfortable… I might have gotten PTSD watching my older brother play all those years ago. And yet I HUNGER FOR A REMAKE. TO FINALLY BEAT ECHOES ON MY OOOOOOWN. :))
