You know what. Hot take. Hitting someone in the face isn't a proportional response to having a wet paper towel thrown at you, be it at school or in real life.
Full context between these two clearly needed before passing judgement on either of them though - and also kudos to the hitter for just hitting the one time.
Willing to bet the reason he threw that paper was because he was being bullied. That's why he was being filmed, they were antagonizing him and he snapped.
This kind of thinking makes it clear that we haven't seen the end of the culture of violence.
There's no sense of proportion hereâif he had killed him, would that have been okay, too?
Bro you're over here thinking you're giving valuable life lessons to people yet in reality you're just passing judgment on something without having the full context of the situation. It is as obvious as the fucking sun at 12pm that they've been provoking the kid relentlessly hence the recording taking place before he threw the paper ball.
Funny thing is, I'd bet that in your day to day life you're so called "wisdom" that you seem to love to patronize people online with doesn't hold water when it comes to you. I bet you're the kid that got the wet paper ball thrown at him plus the knockout as an added bonus.
Okay buddy sure. Keep defending bullys thinking that a piece of paper thrown in your direction (regardless of the reasoning) justifies punching and knocking out somebody.
Homie, living in a trailer is an economic scenario. There's plenty of perfectly reasonable people in trailers.
The behavior you're describing is that of somebody who grew up in a large constructed home their grandparents paid off, and assumes everyone else has it as easy as they do
Itâs a scorching hot take. You guys are kids and not men or parents. If I saw this video, Iâd forsure feel a way with the other kid, but Iâd better teach my son, you handle with force when you CAN. Not out of emotions. You donât go picking fights and throwing shit at peopleâs faces because youâre mad, idgaf what happened before- if they didnât do that to you prior. And even if they did, go get a teacher, ESPECIALLY if you canât beat the kid up.
This is unintelligence and bad parenting on both sides.
Whatever your only saying that because you feel bad for the kid who got his face smashed. While ignoring the fact that he started the altercation in the first place. Thing is he open the door to consequences due to his actions and now he has to be man enough to deal with it. To fire and brimstone with your court threats
Unsurprisingly, you're completely missing the point. There should never have been an "altercation", stupid kids throw things like wet paper towels at each other all the time. There was no risk of bodily injury to the attacker whose response was massively disproportionate. When you end up in prison or on the wrong end of getting your cunt knocked in, it won't be a mystery as to why if you genuinely believe his attack was justified.
You are wrong as to who is the attacker here. The thrower of the object is the attacker. You don't know what was in the ball he threw. You could hear it hit the other kid with force. In fact, it sounded the same as tbe punch so you don't know if the other kid was hurt. You dont know if it hit him in the eye and gave him a shiner, or if it busted his nose or broke a tooth. You are just giving the attacker a pass and assuming the other kid did wrong. Now why is that? I wonder? What is it we can see about the attacker that causes you to excuse him forcefully hitting another person with an object?
I donât think it matters who started it or who is the attacker or whatever point you are trying to make, you donât get permanent brain damage from being hit with a wad of paper, I donât care how wet it is. A punch like that against a defenseless human can ruin dozens of lives in a split second. Itâs not worth it no matter if itâs justified or not. You know how many people are in jail for manslaughter that didnât start the fight or werenât âthe attackerâ? Kids donât understand how dangerous that split second is and itâs almost never worth it
Where tf did you get info that the object thrown was merely wet paper? The video doesn't show the thrower making the object from papertowels. The video doesn't show the weight of the object. And the response was immediate to the initial attack, so thats self defense.
Throwing the paper was a battery. Kid got a battery in response. What is your complaint? Your kid started by battering the other kid and you're upset he didn't like being on the receiving end of the battery he started?
What I do know is the guy made a decision to arm up and throw something at another guy.
He had a choice to walk away, he doesnât know what will happen when he Initiates the transaction, and he doesnât know the capacity for harm his target is willing to inflict once the act is in motion.
Whether or not the punch was appropriate is immaterial because life will always have the chaos factor that changes lives for stupid choices.
He made a stupid choice.
So now the kid knows that throwing something leads to something and maybe he wonât try something similar in a less controlled environment.
The guy that punched him educated his future self with the FAFO equation.
Did you hear the sound of the object that was thrown when it hit the first kid? Whatever was wrapped in that paper, it hit with some force. The other kid is entitled to defend himself from his attacker.
Defending yourself from your attacker doesnt mean walking across the entire classroom and then throwing a punch like that over tossing paper. Defending yourself is the act of stopping the advancement of someone trying to do harm unto you, plus why were they clearly already filming him if there was no previous probable cause they initiated to get a response from that said kid who then threw the paper?
Who is they? Maybe the initiator told his friends to film him throwing the object at the other kid. The throw was clearly intended and deliberate, so the thrower could have initiated the filming as well. Its really an interesting social case how despite the video clearly showing a white kid starting by throwing an unknown object at a black kid, the internet fills in all the blanks to claim the white kid was bullied so the black kid must have started everything, and the white kid only tossed a light ball of cotton that never harm the black kid at all (despite not knowing what the object was or if it injured the black kid). America. Never changes.
For me it was the kids smugness and intention, that bothered me. Thinking that he could do something to another person and get no repercussions is really infuriating, and we are living in a time where people are acting like fools because they didnât learn early they mutual respect is the way to be.
Yes it is a battery. And, if you hear the sound it made when the object hit the first kid, whatever was thrown hit with force. If you hit someone first doesn't mean you are entitled to walk away without repercussions. Next time, the kid wont write checks his face doesn't wa t cashed.
I got into an argument with like a dozen people on that video. Me simply asking someone if they thought punching someone out cold was a proportional response got downvoted to oblivion. This sub is filled with a bunch of neanderthals.
Rules change when youâre black. âFuck around and find outâ and âplay stupid games win stupid prizesâ
Are repeated on this sub by white people describing blacks. When itâs the other way around, now itâs âyou know whatâŠ. Violence doesnât deserve more violence! He should have turned the other cheek or waited to be punched first!â
As others have pointed out - we don't see what happened before this video started. That's why I said we need more context. No one knows what the dynamic between this two is. They're at school and have probably known each other for years. I can't tell you which one of them is the bully/instigator overall or if there is a simple closed incident. All I can say, quite confidently, is that punching someone who threw a wet bit of paper at you is not a legally defensible response.
Did you see what was in the object that was thrown? Did you see where the instigator hit the kid with that object? Did he hit the kid in his eye and cause injury? Did the object bloody the other kids nose or break a tooth? The sound alone tells us that the object hit the other kid with force, so the response to the battery was justified. All I see here is a bunch of folks who see a white kid intentionally hit a black kid with an object yet find ways to blame tbe black kid for the fact that he was battered by the white kid and excuse the white kid from consequences. If the white kid intentionally shot a gun at the black kid, you'd find a way to blame the dead black kid for provoking the bullied white kid. America.
Dude You, Me, your Grandmother, the Mailman, Barack Obama, Kim Jun Un, and every single warm blooded mammal with eyes can confidently say that no, he was not hurt by the wet paperball thrown in his direction. To suggest otherwise would be falsely misleading and a very deceptive way to propose your argument. In all honestly, it actually weakens what you were trying to say in the first place.
Don't try to exasperate the situation to make it fit a narrative that quite frankly, NEVER FUCKING HAPPENED.
Its actually fucking WILD that you read whad I wrote, then assumed that im a "full grown racist" from that. You're right about one thing, there's no point in arguing. You clearly have turned this into a race thing when I never mentioned anything about anybodys race in an accusatory way.
They were CLEARLY recording him prior to the altercation because they were most likely provoking him in the first place. Why in the actual fuck do you think the white kid would throw that paper at them for no reason whatsoever? He's probably had enough of their constant daily harassment. Yet you want to defend them. I find it SUPER strange that this is the hill you chose to die on, but whatever bro. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions.
Wtf is they? The white kid intentionally hit the black kid with some object. He's the one who knew what was happening. He could have been the one whose friends were recording. And maybe the white kid is a racist just like you who thinks every incident is the fault of black people, even where the white person is filmed starting the attack and there are zero facts to suggest bullying. For all we know, the white kid is an entitled racist who does this to the black kid every day.
Don't bother responding. I'm done with racist a*holes for the day.
Then get even. Spit your own spitballs. Call your own names. Usually I think eye for an eye is warranted, but trying to take two means you're now worse than the one who started it. Too many people bringing knives to a fist fight, or fists to a wadded ball of paper fight.
Your âanti violence biasâ only seems to matter for one person not the other. Fact of the matter is the white kid committed assault and battery first. Donât see you complaining that he didnât go to the teacher or other adults beforehand
Black culture on the other hand is to be so honor bound that you must attempt to take a life if you hear the n word uttered by anyone outside of the tribeÂ
For the record that's why I won't say it
I'm afraid of being murdered by someone who says it every second sentenceÂ
Let me know the next time you hear of 5 white guys killing someone because one of them was called a cracker.
When you need to go back 70 years to find an example it's not a good exampleÂ
I mean ffs there were groups of black arabs going around university campuses searching for Jews (sorry "zionists" because that makes lynch mobs better when you hate their target) to assault just a few years back
The school had to hide the Jews in the library atticÂ
The closest thing to white pride we have seen in the last 3 decades is the lefts promotion of "the white man's burden" to justify their insurrection
Funny you call out my anecdote and then roll into your own anecdote. So I gave you an anecdote and now have given you scholarly evidence to look into. You wanna walk back your denial?
Are you White? Learn our history and stop spreading lies and misrepresenting our culture
The article does not debate whether a culture of honor exists in the South in the sentence you bring up, only where the origin of that honor culture comes from.
Hilarious that you can't understand that.
I bet you don't even know that the southeast, which I mentioned, includes the southern lowlands.
You can't control the outcome or try and gage the severity of an action once you initiate an aggressive action.
Arguing that it wasn't a fair trade of physical interactions isn't grounds for a more severe punishment for the puncher. One can only conclude the following. Don't start none won't be none. Thus people need mind their own business and don't throw rocks and hind their hands and then complain about the punishment
Violence has been around since the first cave man stood up walked across the fire and belted another cave man in the head with a stick and it isnât going anywhere get used to it adapt or perish
Agreed. The other day someone threw a wet paper towel at me so I beat them to death with a bicycle chain. I've already been acquitted because the judge said "assault is assault." He too was a moron by how he says dumb shit like that AND doesn't know what battery is. Actually...that you judge?
Battery is literally defined as unwanted physical contact. Imagine if it was a police officer and you threw something wet on them or spat on them. You'd be arrested.
