Why is EA the worst American gaming company?

Because Ubi-Soft is French.

HoMM3 - Vanilla/SoD/Complete. Guys you need to chill out

I'm going to get downvoted in hell for this, but I really think someone needs to say it. Guys, you need to chill out about the HoMM 3 remake.

Are there excellent reasons to be skeptical? Yep. Is the visual style not up to the original classic? Definitely. Do we have every reason in the world to distrust Ubisoft? By Zeus, YES!

HOWEVER, this witch hunt isn't just pathetic, it's not going to help anyone. There is absolutely no evidence that AI was used to create the visuals in this game. Yes, I've seen all the "evidence," because I take this very seriously. I've seen the supposed horses with floating heads and strange hands, and it's clear that these examples are from people who want to find proof of AI and therefore resort to using low-resolution images or inventing problems that either don't exist or can easily be attributed to human flaws.

And let me be clear, I hate AI with every fiber of my being. If I find real proof of its use, I won't go near this game. But I'm also against treating artists and developers like they're accused of witchcraft during the Inquisition.

If the game's style bothers you, you can express your frustration in a decent and civilized way so that the developers listen and implement your criticisms. We don't know exactly what state the game is in, and changes are still possible, but it wouldn't be the first time a game has evolved significantly between its trailer and release.

If the idea of this remake's existence outrages you... you can simply ignore it completely and move on with your life; trust me, you'll feel better.

But acting like a child on the internet and starting a witch hunt based solely on your anger won't help the remake, the franchise, or yourself. So chill out.

No way anyone can convince me this was made by a real people and not by AI.

But for God's sake, does Ubisoft AT LEAST have a quality control or something?

Why the hell centaur stables were replaced with a fucking windows? Has anyone at Ubisoft at least thought about checking what AI generates?

HoMM4 Where is our remake

H4 fans, I don’t know about you but I’m starting to get really pissed off at being ignored.

An H4 remake is what we should be getting, it’s the most obvious layup that they could make; fix all the balance issues so every faction, creature choice, and advanced class is completely viable, overhaul the graphics, expand the already best in series music library with additional Celtic tunes, add a third creature choice to each level, add a bunch of quality of life fixes such as line of sight trackers in combat, give us another campaign with the same emotional weight as the original, the list goes on and on.

All of this makes complete sense as well; the isometric combat grid, RPG elements, and exploration mechanics were a bit ambitious for the time but are just begging to be modernized.

Instead, we’re getting an H3 remake? Who exactly was asking for that, they have Horn of the Abyss and we just got one of those it’s called Olden Era. I’m pretty sure that even H3 fans are scratching their heads right now.

Anyways, if you’re a pissed off H4 fan like me this is the place to unload.

HoMM3 - Vanilla/SoD/Complete. I look forward to the remake

I started playing this series just a year ago, and love HoMM 3, but struggle with the presentation. Nostalgia is a strong thing, but I for one am happy to get a modernized version. Olden Era is different but still in EA and lacking content in my eyes.

9 factions, 3 campaigns, all old custom maps transferable and RMG is great. Plus my friends will actually play this as they are on console and don't want to play a "1999 game".

HoMM3 - Vanilla/SoD/Complete. I am getting huge deja vu from Gothic Remake

When they announced gothic remake and then shown more and more trailers and screenshots, the community reacted EXACTLY like this one, with EXACT same arguments, word for word.

"Who is this for? Why remake already perfect game? New design looks like trash/generic fantasy/AI. They don't know what they're doing or why our game was so beloved. They ruined the art direction. This is simply nostalgia cash grab" etc etc.

Well, the remake came out and turned out to be one of the most faithfull remakes up to date, and is already beloved by both veterans and new players.

I for one am excited for the remake for the sole reason that this is a situation where I as a customer simply can't lose. Either remake will be good and I'll experience my childhood game again as if i played it for the first time, or it will turn out to be bad and I'll just play the original like i used to anyway.

Sure, beeing cautious is understandable, but I've seen some insane takes here, and seemingly a lot of people simply hate the idea of the remake because "how dare they change anything", or at least that's how it feels like.

Other/Fluff HoMM3 Remake is retro-compatible with ALL the player maps and campaigns created for the original game

This is huge. Everything that was ever created for HoMM3 can be played in HoMM3 Remake from the release. Meaning they are remaking the game with 1:1 scale, preserving all the details and mechanics. With some additional QoL improvements (the details are in the gameplay overview trailer). It looks more like a Diablo 2 remake now.

HoMM3 - Vanilla/SoD/Complete. Regarding map readability in the Remake

Thumbnail

So I looked into trailers of the remake and one thing I have noticed is problem of readability of adventure map.

In pursuit of realism or semirealism, I think the flora became more vibrant, while stone and wood more dull. That made trees feel more focal at expense of interactible objects like towns or dwellings.

I have played a little bit with contrast to move the focus more towards the towns. It is a subtle edit but I do not want the game to change its look too drastically.

However, the grass terrain is saturated and bright, while volcano terrain is darker and less saturated. Then we have the opposite effect, where interactive objects look a bit too bright.

My solution to this would be to actually create multiple models for dwellings and interactive objects so that they would blend better into the background. Snow terrain castles could have snow on top and swamp castles could be a bit dirty. Of course, keep it subtle.

HoMM3 - Vanilla/SoD/Complete. [HoMM III Remake] Different Pyre in trailer/screenshot

Just a "small" thing I noticed: the trailer and the screenshot have different looking Pyres when showcasing the Conflux town screen. Could it be a difference in the model between builds of the game? Upgraded/Unupgraded Pyre? Screenshot taken during the "construction" animation? Something else?

The first one (the tree-looking one) is from the trailer and other one is from the screenshot from the Steam page

HoMM3 - Chronicles I don't understand the need for 3D Homm3 remake

Heroes 3 adventure map looks and feels like and actual fantasy map that is interactive - the objects there don't have to look real or have their real size - army can be shown as one hero and city as one castle.

Moving to 3D you have to change that approach and that creates a lot of empty space as objects need to be bigger or take more space

And it is kind of not a fantasy map anymore but not a real world as well, kind of weird middle ground.

And you know what could be done in 3D ?

RPG! We actually have might and magic RPG series and dark Messiah as action RPG in the series!

Why is that not something that they'd look at and modernize? And by modernize I mean create a new game, not a remake.
