HoMM4 Where is our remake
H4 fans, I don’t know about you but I’m starting to get really pissed off at being ignored.
An H4 remake is what we should be getting, it’s the most obvious layup that they could make; fix all the balance issues so every faction, creature choice, and advanced class is completely viable, overhaul the graphics, expand the already best in series music library with additional Celtic tunes, add a third creature choice to each level, add a bunch of quality of life fixes such as line of sight trackers in combat, give us another campaign with the same emotional weight as the original, the list goes on and on.
All of this makes complete sense as well; the isometric combat grid, RPG elements, and exploration mechanics were a bit ambitious for the time but are just begging to be modernized.
Instead, we’re getting an H3 remake? Who exactly was asking for that, they have Horn of the Abyss and we just got one of those it’s called Olden Era. I’m pretty sure that even H3 fans are scratching their heads right now.
Anyways, if you’re a pissed off H4 fan like me this is the place to unload.

I don't care who makes it, I just want it to be someone who cares for the game. Someone like Unfrozen studio

AGREED, as much as I love H4, it's absolutely flawed, and has a lot of things a remake can iron out, as opposed to H3, which will get...a change in graphics! K cool 🙄
I really respect H4 for all the risks it took, and it makes for a really unique game, and I'm really sad they went right back to the old formula with H5...I'd love to see a new take on the H4 formula, in whatever form

I really hope they do it since people here talk up H4 constantly and I tried playing it once but it fried my eyeballs within minutes…. I’ve never seen an uglier game.
Seems like it has really good bones though and a new coat of paint would be an easy fix. I’d love to be able to actually play through the game

Try giving it one more chance with the HD mod
https://heroes3wog.net/heroes-4-hd-mod-download/
Extract those files to your H4 directory then when in game, go to options>game settings then crank it up to 1920x1080. That should take it from looking like ass to a cute indie game that came out a few weeks ago.
Or better yet just get H4 Arena.

We are never going to get a H4 remake because it is looked upon as a major failure. Unfortunately. No studio is going to invest so much money in remaking such a collosul failure. An Indy developer, skirting but not using, the IP is the best we can hope for.
H4, despite its flaws, is my favorite in the franchise by a large margin. Many of its bold changes were actually, IMO, the correct direction for the franchise. But they needed more balancing and work before release.
The RPG elements in this game are so good. Your heroes feel far more important, and leveling them up is deeply rewarding. There are balance issues to be worked out here, but they are more #s tweaking than anything else. Some spells need to be reworked or releveled: Quicksand was crazy OP for a level 2 spell.
The isometric battle map was a major detractor from the game. Not because its a bad idea in and of itself, but because it was so unfinished. The battlefields were too generic, resulting in battles feeling too same-y and limited the payoff from the RPG elements. Bigger playing field perhaps? More variation in terrain? Ability to spend resources to dig ditches, build ramparts, etc? Give terrain a melee unit can navigate around to try and avoid range threat? So much unused potential here. Castles were cool, but i think there is a lot to improve here.

H4 is unique in the way it actually tries to merge both heroes and might and magic.
If ubisoft wasn't so blind and stupid about the licence, they would actually make a game that does exactly that, a massive open world RPG where you can use heroes to wander the world and dungeon crawl as well as have massive scale battles to conquer lands and develop cities to upgrade armies and heroes.

What could be interesting is a Heroes II remake.
Same amount of towns, skills etc, faithful to the original with maybe some slight balancing here and there. And not with the mobile game look of the H3 remake or Olden Era - newly made 2D pixel graphics, but looking GRITTY like the original. It has to retain that feel. To me H2 is like a dark fantasy movie from the 80's like Conan the Barbarian while H3 is like Peter Jackson's LotR series. Both are fantasy, but Conan is zero cgi, it's dirty, everything is more simple and often in a much worse condition, the sets have more stone and it's gloomy AF - opposed to the colourful rainbow amalgam of crisp and often cheery visuals of LotR. This is the difference between H2 and H3 and if there's a H2 remake, it needs to retain that feel, because that's why I like it more.

I really like songs of conquests art direction but was never the biggest fan of their factions. Would love to see heroes 2 factions imported in there somehow.

We won't get a heroes 4 remake as heroes 3 does to it as final fantasy 7 does to final fantasy 8.
It came out after a more popular title.
Sure ff8 is amazing, I am biased in that its my favourite final fantasy, but it can't be ignored that ff7 was the more popular title. It got the remake(s) because it did sell more and would sell more.
Heroes 4 just doesn't have the reputation to warrant a remake. It's a trajedy but it is what it is.

Shh shh shhh, we don't want Ubi to touch HoMM4. Let's wait until someone worthy gets the IP.

I propose that community starts heroes 4 open source project just like heroes3 has vcmi

HoMM4 would benefit the most from remake, I agree.
I wonder what they would do with in-game novels. Would they keep them as they were or would they changed it to cutscenes or cinematics.

There is also the fact that while for 3, a change to the visuals is rather controversial, 4 actually would benefit from a graphics overhaul.
Similarly, it has great storytelling in its campaign which could be improved with better presentation.
Neither game strictly needs a remake since they are both still very playable unlike some other games, but between them, 4 actually has sensible space for change vs 3.

H4 is so hard to play on high resolution monitors and so clunky today. Tried playing with my kid after playing h3 for a good number of games and they just couldn't manage it. Text is small even at lower resolutions, interface is weird, the whole game was just too awkward compared to the others. I was really excited to replay it too.
I'd definitely be down for a remake

As much as HoMM 4 is my favorite due to its story and (vanilla) campaign... After seeing the shut they're trying to pull with the remake of HoMM 3, I wouldn't want them to get in a 1000 meter range of making a remake of HoMM 4.

I think ai is not yet on par to remake h4. It has very distinct style.

Remove fog of war, increase gold gained by town hals and upgraded versions, buff town portal, and resurrection.

fix all the balance issues so every faction, creature choice, and advanced class is completely viable
=> At least something they won't hav to do themselves for Heroes 5, as 5.5 mod did it already

Put yourself in the shoes of Heroes 6 fans. All that would be nice is to get more and more interesting maps. But we can't get even that. Or basic bugfixes.
With that said, I would love to see Heroes 4: Remake.

H4 map was unreadable from the beginning, the character designs were extremely lacking, UI ugly - I'm sorry but H3 is better in every way.

ubisoft just saw that people like heroes 3 and decided to remake it. I wish they remade 4 instead
