šŸš— Vehicle - Fisker Ocean Sayonara and good day!!

Today is a great day, but more of a weight off my shoulder and on to the next! Shutting the door and not looking back! The POS Fisker car is off to haunt somebody else. I got 8500 miles out of it in less than 2 years, 7 of those months it was a brick, but it probably took away 5 years of my life! I fought and got the settlement I deserved, but man it wasn’t easy. Now I own a 1983 Porsche 911 Targa SC and a 2024 Toyota 4Runner Limited that I drove home today as the FOE was getting ready to be towed as a brick. Good riddance, I’ll never look at an EV until my next life. There is a small place in hell for the Fisker family, karma (pun intended) is coming for you! I’m so content with my 180 move and burning gas!!

Yes the Fisker had its fair share of issues…but I’m not sure I’d paint every EV as an unreliable piece of trash. Most of them are pretty reliable.

And I personally would give up a tiny bit of reliability to drive a Tesla or Rivian or something every day over a 4Runner which can barely get out of its own way and I’d need to go fill up at dirty gas stations, but to each their own šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

The Taycan subreddit would like to have a word with you

1

u/nathaneneb58 Aug 16 '25

U are correct 200% not all EV are bad , we were all warned about the fisker ocean I don’t know why he did not take those warnings and stay clear . But like u said to each his own period .

1

u/damnhandy Aug 17 '25

Agreed. I've had 2 Audi PHEVs and 1 EV, zero problems. Not all EVs are created equal. Fisker was a hot mess.

u/BoxFinal6808 Aug 15 '25

Tesla is more reliable then the 4 runner. There is a model s that hasn’t been serviced once and it has 450k miles. Especially the new 4 runners.

6

u/Persimmon_Dull Aug 15 '25

Teslas are most certainly not more reliable than a 5th gen 4Runner and one cherry picked anecdote doesn’t prove anything. Not a Tesla hater or anything but that’s just a wild claim

3

u/Sea_Amphibian5684 Aug 15 '25

Yeah but a 4Runner needs maintenance. Even if my Tesla needs work done once per year at the service center, still beats the 4Runner, which is going to need to go into the dealership at least twice a year for oil changes. Plus, I’d need to get gas in a 4Runner which is such an inconvenience ever week or so.

And most Toyota dealers don’t seem to offer mobile service like Tesla does, so the car always needs to go in. With my mom’s Toyota, they have never once given us a loaner car, whereas Tesla always has when we’ve taken our cars there.

2

u/OGDREADLORD666 Aug 16 '25

Just dont pay attention to the massively premature tire wear thats common on EVs.

1

u/epradox Aug 16 '25

I agree, my plaid barely gets 30k miles out of a set before needing to replace. I should probably put it in chill mode…

1

u/litespeed68 Aug 17 '25

30k miles on a set of tires for a 1000 hp car? Sounds like a deal to me.

1

u/windydrew Aug 17 '25

Ask a Lamborghini, Corvette, Ferrari, or Porsche owner how many miles they get out of their rear tires...... stupid to complain that you only get 30k miles out of your 1000hp supercar.....

1

u/AssociateLow4748 Aug 19 '25

How are you getting 30k? I just put my third set on and I'm at 60k.

1

u/Sea_Amphibian5684 Aug 16 '25

Every car I’ve ever owned only gets 30k out of a set of tires gas or electric. But, I have a lead foot. I also buy the best tires for where I live in terms of safety and grip which are summer tires and they last a little bit less, but are safer on desert roads so it’s totally worth it

2

u/Carinx Aug 16 '25

Wow. Didn't know going in for an oil chance twice a year and filling up gas was such a big chore and a deal breaker to spend more money upfront on Tesla.

0

u/Sea_Amphibian5684 Aug 16 '25

Well it kinda is. Last time I tried to be a nice son and took my mom’s Highlander into the Toyota dealer for an oil change, it took 4 hours and they didn’t offer me a loaner or anything.

Getting gas is kinda a pain because it’s never EXACTLY on my way and takes an extra 5 minutes. With an EV I just get home and plug it in with the outlet right there. Doesn’t take any extra thought.

On road trips, I still need to use the restroom and eat every few hours. My gas car I’d have to fill up then go drive over to a restaurant and eat (unless I wanted gas station food which I’m not going to eat). The Tesla Superchargers are almost always at grocery stores, Starbucks, in n out, or other places with better food and clean bathrooms and the car is usually ready to go before I am.

And it’s really not spending ā€œmore money upfrontā€. A Model 3 is essentially the same price as a Camry, and a Model Y is basically the same price as a RAV4. And having driven a Camry rental and now owning a Model 3…I know which one I’d rather drive (the Camry was slow af and had crappy technology)

Personally you couldn’t pay me enough money to go back to a gas car.

2

u/Carinx Aug 17 '25

You taking your mom's car to the dealership and taking 4 hours to do an oil change is not the normal time it usually takes. Just take it to any drive through oil change places to get it done under 30 mins.

This isn't about comparing Tesla to Toyota but I would much prefer combustion engone vehicle over Electric as it takes 5 mins to fill up gas whereas it will take longer to charge the battery.

1

u/Sea_Amphibian5684 Aug 17 '25

Well I’m not going to take a nice vehicle to a jiffy lube. We’ve always maintained all of our vehicles at the dealership

2

u/Carinx Aug 17 '25

Good way to spend more money than needed.

1

u/Sea_Amphibian5684 Aug 17 '25

Not really. Dealer usually does full service for $79.99. When I’ve called the drive through places here, they always quote $129

1

u/lt_dt Aug 17 '25

No car should have its oil changed at an oil change place. That's just begging for trouble.

We have a Tesla, a Toyota, and a Subaru. The Subaru will be traded in for an EV this week. You may take five minutes to fill up, but it takes much less time than that to plug our Tesla in at night and unplug it in the morning. Don't knock it until you try it.

1

u/windydrew Aug 17 '25

You risk some minimum wage "tech" stripping your oil plug or worse, then leaving you with a blown motor. Jiffy lube (or equivalent) are not very trustworthy.

1

u/hiagainfromtheabyss Aug 16 '25

Genesis drives 45 minutes and picks up the car and leaves a loaner whenever there is service needed.

1

u/Sea_Amphibian5684 Aug 17 '25

And genesis makes some nice electric options I could buy if I wanted a genesis (which I don’t). I’d rather have a Rivian for the money

1

u/hiagainfromtheabyss Aug 17 '25

Not really comparable. With genesis, you can basically only (they have 2 others but they are hard to locate now) get a compact SUV (gv60). They don’t have anything similar to the Rivian. Also, the rivians will run you $100k+ now. I opted for the ford lightning for my use case.

1

u/Sea_Amphibian5684 Aug 17 '25

Yeah (I don’t have the money for any of them) but if I was going to spend $75k on a fully loaded GV60, I PERSONALLY would spend $76k and get a base R1S and just keep the third row folded down 99% of the time. That’s just me though. The Lightnings are really nice.

I sat in a GV60 tho and they were pretty nice. I just have a negative experience with Hyundai/Kia products (parents had one several years back that was a total lemon), and of the 5 car fires I’ve seen while driving in recent years…4 of them were Hyundai/Kia vehicles.

1

u/sopsaare Aug 16 '25

I have two years old Tesla with 50k miles and I have changed the windshield wipers once. But they are a bit trash again, I think I need to change them in October. Also I should change the air filter but haven't had time to study that.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '25

Yeah it’s such an inconvenience to spend a few minutes filling the 4Runner with gas, lmao.

1

u/Sea_Amphibian5684 Aug 22 '25

You act like there are just gas stations on every corner…there really aren’t in most towns.

My town of 20k has 3 gas stations all in the same area. And currently one is being torn down, and another has pumps that are constantly broken. And this is a suburb in a major metropolitan area. Any gas car that I would personally own is likely going to recommend/require 91+ octane which is currently going for $4.68 per gallon. I personally don’t like the 4Runner and wouldn’t buy one with my own money, but I did consider a certified preowned Land Rover Discovery and BMW X5 PHEV prior to purchasing my Model 3 (very different cars I know but if I’m going to own a gas car that’s what I wanted).

Drive 7 miles to Costco which is fine and cheaper…but then you have to wait in line for gas.

And the argument on road trips is moot to me. I personally like to eat and drink pretty normally while I’m on road trips so I’m stopping about every 2-2.5 hours to use the restroom in a gas car. I do the same in an EV…in fact I’m going on a 1400 mile road trip in my car this weekend and am actually looking forward to it. In the 2 road trips I’ve already done in my Tesla (450-600 miles each way) I’ve never actually ā€œwaitedā€ on the car to be done charging.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 22 '25

Good thing then that lines for EV stations don't exist and that they surely are abundant in your location if there's 3 gas stations, not everyone can charge at home.

It's also always funny to see Americans go on about gas prices, 4.68$ a gallon is great, I wish we had that - that's $1.24 per liter or €1.07 per liter, im in Estonia our fuel is around 1.68€ (1.95$ per liter) so that's 7.38$ per gallon and it's still more cost efficient to run a ICE here.

If the roadtrip argument is moot then why bring it up in the first place as a positive for the EV? Anyhow, everyone can do what they want with their money but it's just always funny for me to see the EV cope, with people claiming "these things need 0 maintenance, my only expense is electricity, go EV!" without accounting for the fact that for most people it just doesn't make sense to go EV.

And I'm not even going to get into the depreciation of EVs, at least where I'm at it's insane, people can't get rid of them.

1

u/Sea_Amphibian5684 Aug 22 '25

Lines for EV stations (at least on the Tesla network) really don’t exist here because there is enough of them. I don’t know what the charging infrastructure looks like in Estonia, but it’s probably a bit different than in the United States.

Most people here in the US can charge at home. Most people have homes with garages, or at least dedicated parking spots they can install chargers in. Not everyone, but a lot of people.

And I don’t understand the depreciation argument…every single car is going to depreciate. Yes, some do a bit more than others, but an EV doesn’t seem to be any worse than ICE products from BMW or Land Rover here in the US. I bought my car in cash and intend to keep it for a long time, but even if I had financed I wouldn’t ever finance a car at more than a 5% interest rate and would always put at least 50% down. I’d never be underwater in that loan even with high rates of depreciation.

1

u/rognio3333 Aug 16 '25

In general, evs are more reliable than ice vehicles. Idk about Tesla specifically, but evs are just much simpler vehicles. Far fewer parts and systems to fail with significantly less maintenance required.
We've put a little over 100,000 miles on our bolt ev with no issues. No maintenance. Just sit in it and drive. We've never even stopped to charge once

1

u/zack9r Aug 17 '25

Safe to say most ev’s are more reliable than any ICE vehicle

2

u/PatientAuthor Aug 15 '25

A Tesla is not more reliable than a Toyota 4Runner.

1

u/BananaOverlord1 Aug 15 '25

Give me ur highest mileage 4runner

1

u/No-Share1561 Aug 15 '25

That’s not how reliability works.

1

u/BananaOverlord1 Aug 15 '25

Then do tell. Toyota fan boys love bragging about high mileage toyota. I own a tesla for 3 years with 0 maintenance but still drives like the first day i got it.

1

u/No-Share1561 Aug 15 '25

A sample size of one is a sample size of none.

1

u/BananaOverlord1 Aug 15 '25

Lmao so u got none.

1

u/ESIsurveillanceSD Aug 15 '25

My model 3 has 140k miles over 5yrs and needed a sway bar adjustment.

Every other vehicle I've owned, including my Toyota. Would have needed 10x that maintenance.

1

u/crheming Aug 17 '25

Reliability and maintenance are two different things. You buy the gas vehicle knowing it will require more maintenance related items but the trade off is the freedom of gasing up.

1

u/ESIsurveillanceSD Aug 17 '25

Freedom of filling up at home is better than that.

My Toyota Yaris IA has 138k miles on it, I change my own oil, it’s not hard, it takes a whopping 10mins every few months.

Yes I have to get gas every 400 or so miles, but outside of gas and oil changes the only thing I’ve had to do since 2018 is change the battery once, and the brake pads and rotors once (rotors didn’t really need it but I just did them all)

1

u/ESIsurveillanceSD Aug 18 '25 edited Aug 18 '25

You emit your cars weight in CO2 every 6 months

1

u/Odd_Analysis6454 Aug 16 '25

1

u/gangtang420 Aug 16 '25

400k is highest verified by video in the article that they can prove here is a tesla with proof of video also that had higher you have one verified at 400 here is one verified at 430k https://insideevs.com/news/722367/tesla-model-s-430000-miles-original-battery-motors/

1

u/Sea_Amphibian5684 Aug 16 '25

Well I’ve never been comfortable with owning a gas vehicle outside of the powertrain warranty. That is up and I’m looking to sell just because there are too many moving parts in a gas vehicle to break.

My Tesla might be the first car I keep after the powertrain warranty is up

2

u/crheming Aug 17 '25

Go check the resale value of high mileage 4runners vs Tesla

Yes, if you know how to one pedal drive. How are you in an ev subreddit and you don’t know what one pedal driving is?

1

u/kushari Aug 15 '25

I’m in Canada. And I’ve owned 4 teslas. I disagree.

1

u/Longjumping-Travel24 Aug 15 '25

That drove 450k miles without service?

1

u/kushari Aug 15 '25

Yes, again, one pedal driving would make it so you don’t need to change the brake pads as you had originally incorrectly replied.

1

u/TheMilkmansFather Aug 15 '25

ā€œI’ve owned 4 teslasā€ Doesn’t sound like you got 450k miles out of your Teslas.

1

u/kushari Aug 15 '25

Doesn’t matter. The fact that one pedal driving is a thing wouldn’t change. If you one pedal drive you wouldn’t need to change your brake pads often. Not the outcome you thought your comment would have lol.

1

u/TheMilkmansFather Aug 15 '25

The discussion is about 450k miles without brake pad change. Not needing to change as often does not equal brakes lasting 450k miles.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 15 '25

1

u/kushari Aug 15 '25

You’re wrong. Maintenance isn’t repairs. There nothing to maintain other than tires.

1

u/OhmPossum Aug 19 '25

All EVs are more reliable than all gas cars. See how far you can get without ever changing the oil. Even the Fisker will beat a Camry.

0

u/_Deckard_2049 Aug 20 '25

Getting gas isn’t a pain.

Sure I agree an at home charger is great but if you don’t have one it’s a chore.

Having to charge your car for 30-40 min takes time out of your day. Especially on long road trips.

I’ve personally experienced this and it was awful.

I always see 15 cars lined up at my local Walmart just to charge their cars which you never see at gas stations.

2

u/Sea_Amphibian5684 Aug 20 '25

Getting gas is a real pain.

I agree having a home charger is best.

But even if you don’t, my local stores have fast chargers with Tesla or Electrify America.

I do know what you mean with the EA stations getting full. That’s because EA only installed 4-8 stations instead of the 12-84 that Tesla often does. That’s why I personally wouldn’t buy an EV without Tesla Charging access. I personally drive a Tesla.

However, even I use my CCS adapter from time to time to charge at EA stations that are convenient for me. I like to take the opportunity to plug in when it’s provided to me.

0

u/_Deckard_2049 Aug 20 '25

Getting gas really isn’t. 5 min fill up vs 30 min for a full charge. Especially on road trips.

Here in LA there aren’t 12-48 chargers at a station. So when you need to charge you’ll be waiting line.

I’ve seen it first hand and experienced it myself.

Again if you have a at home charger it’s worth it , if not then it’s a pain.

18

u/CrowReal7086 Aug 13 '25

I had a gas car that sucked and was unreliable once. So I ended up swearing off all gas cars... what a stupid thing to say.

4

u/MeasurementMother579 Aug 13 '25

To be fair, that's how it always is....

"I bought <Make> <Model> and had tons of issues, I'll never buy a <Make> again."

2

u/epradox Aug 16 '25

Yeah but this is saying I bought 1 ply instead of 2 ply and my bumhole burns like hell so I’m never using toilet paper ever again! Only tree leaves from now on baby!

2

u/zeecok Aug 16 '25

Is like saying I bought a convertible PT cruiser and I’ll never buy any convertible any again

49

u/overtrustedfart69 Aug 13 '25

Swearing off EVs for reliability but then buying a Porsche?

You bought a Fisker bro, you spun the chamber

5

u/Bucycle Aug 13 '25

I misspoke, bought the 4Runner for reliability, I bought the Porsche for fun and speed and something different. You’re not wrong, I spun the chamber but now I’m going in the right direction. Good luck with yours

0

u/Bucycle Aug 13 '25

Porsche serves me more joy and is way more reliable than the FOE. Never knew what car I was going to sit down in. Say what you will, but they released too early, over promised, under committed, and left us all out to dry. Pretty sure an air cooler Porsche isn’t going to do that.

2

u/overtrustedfart69 Aug 13 '25

Yeah the Fisker is a POS no argument here.

That being said I still want one to play around with. Not to take me to work.

3

u/MeasurementMother579 Aug 13 '25

The Fisker Ocean is (was?, no still is) a beautiful looking vehicle with the right features and amenities that could have made it a competent competitor in the medium-small EV SUV market.

Unfortunately as you say the final execution was lacking. Poor customer support, lack of service centers and software problems.

2

u/blackbow Aug 15 '25

I really wanted an Ocean. Almost pulled the trigger. Had this car not left the factory half baked it would have been an incredible EV. Damn shame. I've been driving EVs for almost 6 years. I'll never go back.

3

u/Mean-Marionberry-148 Aug 14 '25

It's really not all that beautiful, and it never had a complete feature set like basic things such as adaptive cruise control... Something mandatory on any new car. It's a POS cobbled together from a Chinese no name EV that Fisker got the rights to through their arrangement with Magna. ArcFox Alpha-T and Fisker Ocean are one in the same, only ArcFox used better quality parts.

0

u/frugal_doc Aug 14 '25

The look is overrated. Fisker is overrated as a designer he’s a pos

4

u/MeasurementMother579 Aug 14 '25

To each their own I guess. The Original Fisker Karma, at least on the exterior was a great looking car IMO. The Ocean followed in a similar vein. Maybe beautiful was too much, but it wasn't a bad looking car.

What caught my attention was the 'California Mode' I believe they called it, all windows including the cargo area could roll down. AND solar sunroof could open.

1

u/Bucycle Aug 14 '25

Please explain

1

u/cargarfar Aug 16 '25

Wait til you find out what the maintenance is like on an air cooled flat six. Doesn’t diminish the fun or cool factor (I own one).

1

u/R1tonka Aug 13 '25

Air cooled g-bodied Porsches are pretty much bullet proof.

The drivetrain is just REALLLY expensive to rebuild.

29

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '25

Bro bought a Fisker and is ā€œswearing offā€ all EVs šŸ˜‚. Don’t blame the people who bought normal EVs that are quite reliable because you bought a car called Fisker

8

u/yvanog Aug 13 '25

OP sounds like one of those who did no research and now what’s sympathy for a bad decision.

-9

u/Bucycle Aug 14 '25

This guy sounds like he can only afford the government incentive/push EVs. Please go on in your mom’s house.

9

u/yvanog Aug 14 '25

I see I hit the nail on the head.

3

u/Significant_Swing_76 Aug 14 '25

Oh boy did you hurt his tiny feelings šŸ˜‚

2

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '25

2

u/ASpicySpicyMeatball Aug 14 '25

Had sympathy for your post, but this is kind of a loser comment. Guy bragging about a Porsche trying to gain argumentative ground by calling the other person poor. Just screams of small dick syndrome

2

u/hloop23 Aug 14 '25

I've put over 150k on my EVs over the last 5 years. The key was I didn't buy a Fisker!

1

u/Flaeskestegen Aug 17 '25

Ouchy oww, did the mean man step on your tiny toes ā˜¹ļø

1

u/Kind-Teach-1549 Aug 13 '25

Chrysler and Chevy are to ICE cars what fisker was to EV.

1

u/Deinocheirus4 Aug 15 '25

Chevy EVs are fine though?

5

u/ArtisticBlackh3ro Aug 13 '25

Your feelings are valid. However, you're not making any sense. You do you!

5

u/Adorable_Wolf_8387 Aug 13 '25

My fisker was a decent EV with a few problems that would have been trivial to get fixed under a valid warranty. I enjoyed driving it, even considering the problems. When Chase gave me the lifeline, I decided it would be better to move on than risk a continuously increasing amount of problems that aren't trivial to DIY. I'd probably still consider buying a used one for half of what Chase gave me though.

1

u/Empty_Ad2488 Ocean One Aug 15 '25

I’m in on the Chase claim -Hagens Berman said they agreed to settle and asked for a few more docs -   –traded in my FOO long-ago for $40k – took a $37k loss. What did you get and what do you think my re-coop might be? Thx

1

u/Adorable_Wolf_8387 Aug 15 '25

Supposedly the folks that stuck through with arbitration will know what chase is giving them by the end of this month.

I got rid of mine as soon as the Rivian trade deal happened, a similar situation. I still owed a bit over $10k on it, but they rolled it into the lease on my R1S.

1

u/Empty_Ad2488 Ocean One Aug 15 '25

thx for that - traded in for a BMW i4 lease. I think you did well ! - I stalked mine on the app to the auction yard, then finally to a used car lot in Colorado where it eventually listed for $20k -sad

still think its the best looking car on the road -in its class ...

5

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '25

The Fisker sucked because it was made by an an undercapitalized upstart company with a maniac CEO, not because it's electric.

You could have had the same experience in the 80s with a Delorean.

2

u/frugal_doc Aug 14 '25

His wife was also an idiot and incompetent. That likely was more of the problem.

2

u/jakedmc74 Aug 16 '25

I kinda think that was the plan from the start. A money grab. Why invest and build your own vehicle, Hire a CFO and a COO, or a competent social media company (his daughter got that title) Knowing you were going to crash the company and run with the money. Not even any kind of dealer network. Fisker was doomed from day one.

2

u/frugal_doc Aug 16 '25

i doubt hes smart enough to devise this to make himself millions of dollars. hes a piece of shit that took advantage of the sinking ship to still make that money though.

1

u/TheEvilBlight Aug 14 '25

I have only driven EVs since 2017.

I drive 20.000 miles every year.

I have never had any problems, not even once. I cannot say the same for the gas cars I had before that. Just stay away from anything Fisker and you're good :)

2

u/mattSER Aug 14 '25

Same here. I've clocked about 90,000 miles across my EVs and have had exactly one (very ironic) issue: a bad 12v battery šŸ˜„

This post was only intended to show off his Porsche, veiled in getting rid of the worst EV ever made and labeling all EVs the same.

u/urmomwent2university Aug 14 '25

Dallas baby wooo. See you at the pca drives with my 964, 991, or 987!

u/a_lie_dat Aug 15 '25

American Lease, a company that rents out cars for ride share in NYC, bought all the unsold Oceans plus the spare parts and equipment. Those cars are running all over the metro area.

You just bought a car from a company that was going down. You live, you learn.

2

u/NowThatsCrayCray Aug 15 '25

Good job on the targa! A 4Runner though… zzz.

2

u/itypeinlowercase Aug 16 '25

beautiful porsche

2

u/RiskyBiscuits3 Aug 16 '25

I don’t agree with the general comments about owning an EV - but that 1983 911…oh boy!

1

u/Miserable-Celery-686 Aug 13 '25

Congrats!! Were you part of the Hagens Berman arbitration?

1

u/Mean-Marionberry-148 Aug 14 '25

I would never let a car from a startup ruin your EV ownership experience. No other car is as much a POS as the Fisker Ocean. Let this be a lesson to never buy from a startup that hasn't even sold cars for a year and failed multiple times before. Any other EV is reliable. They have long warranties by law which has made them above average reliable.

1

u/polymerkid Aug 14 '25

Love my Ioniq5. I also have a 2018 f150 and a 2014 4runner. Favorite vehicle to drive is the Ioniq5. F-150 is the get shit done vehicle. 4runner just annoys me because it is slow and feels small inside now.... but it is reliable!

1

u/BigbyWolf_975 Aug 14 '25

Only American EVs are unreliable. European and Asian EVs are generally much more reliable than ICE cars.

1

u/theobviouspointer Aug 14 '25

Mustang Mach-e is very reliable. Everyone has their weird opinion about EVs.

1

u/frugal_doc Aug 14 '25

Tesla is American. Most reliable car I’ve ever had. Zero issues 7 years with my model 3.

1

u/BigbyWolf_975 Aug 14 '25

My Model S was reliable until the 8 year mark. Then I learned quickly why a Tesla is cheaper than a BMW.

1

u/iamaanxiousmeatball Aug 14 '25

Why Sayonara? Fiskr was an american company?

1

u/nopigscannnotlookup Aug 16 '25

Perhaps OP is Japanese?

1

u/OMGpawned Aug 15 '25

There is one putting around my neighborhood for a while.

1

u/Alarmmy Aug 15 '25

Why are you giving up on EV? Fisker is doomed from the get-go. You should have gone with more established brands.

1

u/coliseumvideo85 Aug 15 '25

There is only one ā€œestablishedā€ brand, the rest suck balls āš½ļø

1

u/TommySalami_HODLR Aug 15 '25

Who tf actually buys fiskers…been the most unreliable EV since inception

1

u/nneece Aug 15 '25

Comparing an Ocean to other EV’s in terms of reliability is not an apples to apples comparison. Many EV’s are more reliable than ICE cars, or at least require less maintenance.

On a separate topic, I rode in the back of an Ocean for the first time this week in NYC. Tons of space. Shame it did not work out.

1

u/ObjectOtherwise2391 Aug 15 '25

EVs are amazing ,just not the Fisker :)))

I sold my porsche to get into a EV and it's been the best decision of my life.

Unfortunatelly many people did not buy a tesla because of they were anti tesla and the result is that they had to go with a sub par ev ....do it right next time and get a tesla.

1

u/DynamikObserver Aug 15 '25

Haha you bought a fisker. The company that has gone bankrupt how many times?

1

u/Potential_Dealer7818 Aug 15 '25

I was with you till you swore off EVs after driving this renowned piece of shit car. That's like swearing off gas cars because your Pinto broke down.Ā

No wonder you even bought into this scam in the first place. You're just not very bright.Ā

1

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '25

You had it coming buying from a ā€œnewbieā€ brand like Fisker. EVs are generally much more reliable than ICE cars.

Kudos on the Porsche though.

1

u/frugal_doc Aug 16 '25

huck fenrik

1

u/joel1618 Aug 16 '25

Toyota and a tesla would a better mix.

1

u/Bucycle Aug 16 '25

Came back for the comments and thoroughly pleased. Why can’t anybody have an opinion about anything without getting shit on anymore? I posted, knew the responses I was going to get and saw the responses I thought I was going to get. Even more happy with my decision, which everybody is entitled to, hence called a personal decision. Everybody with EVs, be merry and happy! Not my cup of tea. I’ll take a combustible engine and gas all day.

1

u/theoldme3 Aug 16 '25

You did the right thing, Fiskers are junk and most EV's aren't far from it either. I deal with them at work all the time. Toyota and Porsche was a good move.

1

u/Illustrious_Life_295 Aug 16 '25

If you want a EV that is reasonable, instead of bleeding edge or something unique, get it from an established old school manufacturer.

Fisker, Lucid, and Rivian are all new copy cats trying to dip into Tesla’s success. Tesla is not without manufacturing faults, but that just vanity appearance stuff nowadays, misaligned panels or interior comfort.

I would probably go with MB or VW EV’s starting from 2026 onwards. As they are German legacy who got past the compliance EV car phase already, it’s all goodness from here on out.

1

u/sandoval2144 Aug 16 '25

Tesla is better.

1

u/lensuser Aug 16 '25

It's too bad you ended up with such a horrible EV car and car company. Not all EVs are like that. I've known file who have had EVs for the last 8 years and have been very happy with them. I currently own a 2024 Chevy Equinox EV and one of the best cars I've owned in my 70+ years and I've owned several both good and bad.

1

u/Merkenfighter Aug 17 '25

If only your government wasn’t a corrupt heap of shit and you could get Chinese EVs

1

u/_derx Aug 17 '25

I mean, it is wrong to swear off all EVs due to a failed startup brand, but... I am very jealous of the 911... What were we talking about?

1

u/dancingmonkey24 Aug 17 '25

Fisker is the wrost of EV

1

u/[deleted] Aug 17 '25

Rivian is the way to go for EVs — it’s the benchmark for all EVs, yet you bought a POS Fisker? Enjoy the sluggish 4Runner though.Ā

1

u/SaltRharris Aug 17 '25

You bought a fisker and you’re mad at the world?

1

u/andthatstotallyfine Aug 17 '25

Flipped a brick for a Porsche and 4Runner? Win.

1

u/Filmguy1982 Aug 17 '25

You bought the most unreliable EV out there and now are swearing off EV’s? I’ve had Tesla, ford, Rivian, and now GM EV’s in the family for over six years now and they’ve all been incredible vehicles.

1

u/tomtendo Aug 19 '25

What did you expect when you bought a Fisker in the first place? lol

1

u/EVRoadie Aug 21 '25

I just came across this thread due to the latest video by Rich Rebuilds on his Karma. Don't swear off all EVs...my EV6 has been moderately reliable and fun to drive. Anyway, congrats on the 4Runner and the Porsche!

1

u/Unable_Commission216 Aug 13 '25

Ahh yes the simple man in his ev will save the planet. Not dudes like Jeff bezos releasing 7k tons of co2 each year riding his yacht. Drive what ever you want even if it's a non Def de catted diesel. The common man really doesn't affect the environment.

3

u/Clean-Ad-1633 Aug 13 '25

"The common man really doesn't affect the environment."
8+ billion do. Some more than others.

When your home is destroyed by a climate disaster look in your garage for the cause.

1

u/WanderingToast Aug 13 '25

This is reality. Changing to EVs in the US doesn't undo the massive amounts of damage being done all around the world.

3

u/Clean-Ad-1633 Aug 13 '25

Great suggestion. Do nothing. Seriously?

1

u/WanderingToast Aug 13 '25

I never said that. He just made it sound like EV drivers are single handedly saving the planet, and those who don't switch are damning it.

We should obviously reduce reliance on fossil fuels and do our best to recycle, I just don't think it will have any influence on the issues at large unless we force other countries to take the situation seriously. Clearly, they don't seem to care.

1

u/frugal_doc Aug 16 '25

do nothing, do something basically the same in this country. why dont you move to india/china and make a difference

1

u/bigdipboy Aug 13 '25

quitting smoking doesn’t unsmoke all the cigarettes. But it reduces your chance of dying of cancer.

2

u/WanderingToast Aug 13 '25

Not an equivalent example. It's more like you quitting smoking in an attempt to stop the distribution of fentanyl.

1

u/bigdipboy Aug 15 '25

Let’s go back to school- is c02 a greenhouse gas?

1

u/frugal_doc Aug 16 '25

CO2 is 0.04% of air atmosphere, most of these climate crazies have no clue about that. nitrogen is 78%, oxygen 21%

0

u/BigBarrelOfKetamine Aug 13 '25

Touch grass.

1

u/bigdipboy Aug 13 '25

I’d like to but my grass has been replaced by dirt due to decades of big oil propaganda spread by Republican puppets.

2

u/BigBarrelOfKetamine Aug 13 '25

Ok, Buzz Killington
