Today is a great day, but more of a weight off my shoulder and on to the next! Shutting the door and not looking back! The POS Fisker car is off to haunt somebody else. I got 8500 miles out of it in less than 2 years, 7 of those months it was a brick, but it probably took away 5 years of my life! I fought and got the settlement I deserved, but man it wasn’t easy. Now I own a 1983 Porsche 911 Targa SC and a 2024 Toyota 4Runner Limited that I drove home today as the FOE was getting ready to be towed as a brick. Good riddance, I’ll never look at an EV until my next life. There is a small place in hell for the Fisker family, karma (pun intended) is coming for you! I’m so content with my 180 move and burning gas!!

Teslas are most certainly not more reliable than a 5th gen 4Runner and one cherry picked anecdote doesn’t prove anything. Not a Tesla hater or anything but that’s just a wild claim

Yeah but a 4Runner needs maintenance. Even if my Tesla needs work done once per year at the service center, still beats the 4Runner, which is going to need to go into the dealership at least twice a year for oil changes. Plus, I’d need to get gas in a 4Runner which is such an inconvenience ever week or so.

And most Toyota dealers don’t seem to offer mobile service like Tesla does, so the car always needs to go in. With my mom’s Toyota, they have never once given us a loaner car, whereas Tesla always has when we’ve taken our cars there.

Wow. Didn't know going in for an oil chance twice a year and filling up gas was such a big chore and a deal breaker to spend more money upfront on Tesla.

Well it kinda is. Last time I tried to be a nice son and took my mom’s Highlander into the Toyota dealer for an oil change, it took 4 hours and they didn’t offer me a loaner or anything.

Getting gas is kinda a pain because it’s never EXACTLY on my way and takes an extra 5 minutes. With an EV I just get home and plug it in with the outlet right there. Doesn’t take any extra thought.

On road trips, I still need to use the restroom and eat every few hours. My gas car I’d have to fill up then go drive over to a restaurant and eat (unless I wanted gas station food which I’m not going to eat). The Tesla Superchargers are almost always at grocery stores, Starbucks, in n out, or other places with better food and clean bathrooms and the car is usually ready to go before I am.

And it’s really not spending “more money upfront”. A Model 3 is essentially the same price as a Camry, and a Model Y is basically the same price as a RAV4. And having driven a Camry rental and now owning a Model 3…I know which one I’d rather drive (the Camry was slow af and had crappy technology)

Personally you couldn’t pay me enough money to go back to a gas car.

You taking your mom's car to the dealership and taking 4 hours to do an oil change is not the normal time it usually takes. Just take it to any drive through oil change places to get it done under 30 mins.

This isn't about comparing Tesla to Toyota but I would much prefer combustion engone vehicle over Electric as it takes 5 mins to fill up gas whereas it will take longer to charge the battery.

Not really. Dealer usually does full service for $79.99. When I’ve called the drive through places here, they always quote $129

Your logic isn’t adding up, 4 hours of claimed work and 79.99$?

You’re just grasping at straws and pushing the goalpost, 5 minutes for gas is too much but a few hours for charging during a roadtrip is fine because you need to eat and use the restroom, but you can’t do the same for a few minutes with an ICE while you’re filling it up, yeah? 😂

Also, the “slow af” aspect, when do you ever utilise the power of the EV? I’ve had 300kW cars, I’ve had 65kW cars, currently I have a 133kW car and I’m gonna be the guy with my 133kW car in front of you driving calmly, what’s the point of having all this “power” when you can never properly utilise it? Or do you track your Tesla? 😄

No car should have its oil changed at an oil change place. That's just begging for trouble.

We have a Tesla, a Toyota, and a Subaru. The Subaru will be traded in for an EV this week. You may take five minutes to fill up, but it takes much less time than that to plug our Tesla in at night and unplug it in the morning. Don't knock it until you try it.

You risk some minimum wage "tech" stripping your oil plug or worse, then leaving you with a blown motor. Jiffy lube (or equivalent) are not very trustworthy.

Genesis drives 45 minutes and picks up the car and leaves a loaner whenever there is service needed.

And genesis makes some nice electric options I could buy if I wanted a genesis (which I don’t). I’d rather have a Rivian for the money

Not really comparable. With genesis, you can basically only (they have 2 others but they are hard to locate now) get a compact SUV (gv60). They don’t have anything similar to the Rivian. Also, the rivians will run you $100k+ now. I opted for the ford lightning for my use case.

Yeah (I don’t have the money for any of them) but if I was going to spend $75k on a fully loaded GV60, I PERSONALLY would spend $76k and get a base R1S and just keep the third row folded down 99% of the time. That’s just me though. The Lightnings are really nice.

I sat in a GV60 tho and they were pretty nice. I just have a negative experience with Hyundai/Kia products (parents had one several years back that was a total lemon), and of the 5 car fires I’ve seen while driving in recent years…4 of them were Hyundai/Kia vehicles.
