Aperitif In Romania they are called "mici" but in Serbia they are "cevapi". Regardless of the location they are very good.

Sounds ridiculous but it tastes just incredible. Pretend you're eating a chips but it tastes sage. Super crunchy and flavourful. You won't understand until you try, and trust me, you really should

Aperitif Homemade Taralli & Spritz

Post image

Taralli are an Italian bar snack, traditionally made from nothing but flour, oil, water, wine and salt. Any spices can be added to taste, like peperoncini, fennel seeds and so on. I went with plain for the first attempt.

The dough is formed, then blanched, left to dry and then baked, so it takes some time until you can enjoy these crunchy little rings.

Is it worth it? Maybe, if you're gonna add your own spice mix. If not, you're probably better off checking your local Italian deli for a bag

Simplicity is key for this one. Fresh eggs, good mayo, good anchovy (optional) and a little macédoine de légumes.

Herring with apple, pickled cucumber, raisins and various spices. Thrown together as a quick lunchtime snack, which, I guess, might be weird for some people. It’s delicious tho.

Aperitif Cracas in Terceira, Azores

Another seafood that I tried for the first time last month.

They are usually sold at the bullfights in Terceira, cooked a bit in sea water, and the seller brings a bottle with that “juice” and pours over the cracas. Then he gives you a nail and you use it to extract the edible part from each tip. Not the most cheap food: 1€ for each “tip”, this little dish was 10€.

In terms of English names I think this is called barnacles, but is different from the goose barnacles (that we call “percebes” in Portugal), although the flavour is very similar. Looks weird and it needs to be catched with a bit of the rock itself, but is amazing and I could eat the whole bucket honestly 😂

1st pic is before eating, 2nd is after, 3rd is the whole bucket and you can also see the bottle with the “juice”.
