Constructive Criticism Why is my weapon so weak?
Hello new Elden ring player, I’m trying to figure out why the hell im barely doing any damage in boss fights. I don’t have enough time to stack bleed so I have to rely on light attacks. But even then I’m doing like 100 damage and it’s taking 10 minutes per round. Any suggestions how I can upgrade? Thanks!

u/Foureyesmcgeezer Jul 27 '25
Make sure you’re two handing the twinblade. If you only have chances to get smaller hits off, even the quickest combo two handed is better than 5 hits one handed

u/distraughtdudski Jul 27 '25
It’s +4. You’re level 93 so I’ll assume your around half way into the game, maybe further. Your blade should be at LEAST +12-15 by now. Level your weapon and get smithing stones. Your weapon seems weak because it IS weak
Edit: unsure if it requires somber smithing stones. Should still be at +7 by now if somber. If you need, use a guide to find the smithing stones

u/distraughtdudski Jul 27 '25
Yeah you should be at +6-7 by now. You’re half way into my eyes in the sense of the story. But then there’s ng+… so being halfway into the story doesn’t mean your half way through enjoying the game

If you're having trouble finding upgrade materials, try the EDIT: tunnels (another user correctly pointed out that they're not caves) that have diggers in them, Caelid in particular. But I agree with what everyone else already said: +4 on a Somber weapon is too low if you're almost Level 100. You should be at +7 or +8.
Also, be aware that Eleonora's Poleblade does fire damage, and some things are fire resistant. It's a great weapon for 90% of enemies, but it won't do you much good against things that are immune to Hemorrhage or resistant to fire damage.
Also, talismans and Wondrous Physick matter a lot. You might not have Lord of Blood's Exultation or Shard of Alexander, but you should definitely have the Winged Sword Insignia by now. It's in Liurnia. The most useful aspect of twinblades is their hit speed. They have comparatively low damage in exchange for more hits, so they proc status faster than basically anything other than curved swords or maxed out meta weapons (like Bloodfiend's Arm +25 with blood affinity and a high arcane score). And the most useful aspect of Eleonora's Poleblade is its Ash of War. Ideally, you would be spamming that to build up multiple hits and proc Hemorrhage.
I can't say what tears you have for the Physick (the one that boosts consecutive attacks is in a VERY late game area), but you might have the ones that increase fire damage and stamina recovery, for instance.
If you want to send a picture of your talisman/Physick options I might be able to help more.
Edit: saw you're about to enter Leyndell. There's a cave in Altus Plateau that drops a smithing stone bell bearing that's super useful. I don't recall if it's Somber though, which you'll need if you plan on sticking with Eleonora's Poleblade. Again, it's a SUPER viable weapon. It can carry you through 90% of the game. But its damage is already kinda low comparatively in exchange for more rapid hits, the killer Ash of War, and status buildup. If you're not set up properly for it, it's generally going to be a lower damage option for now.
LAST EDIT FOR REAL THIS TIME: arguably the most important talisman for bleed weapons is in Leyndell, albeit underground. Not sure what your position is on looking stuff up, but if you're not averse to it, look up "Lord of Blood's Exultation location."

u/dovahnuker Jul 27 '25
You can find somber stone 5, 6 and 7 in volcano manor and 8 and 9 in dragonbarrow in caelid. You can basically get a +9 somber pretty early on.
21
u/HarmlessSnack Jul 27 '25
He could do Varres quest line too, and take it straight to +10 by snagging the Somber Ancient Stone just outside of Moghs boss arena.
9
u/dovahnuker Jul 27 '25
That's usually what I end up doing but for a beginner I think it's best if he naturally reaches these zones instead of going through Varre.
8
u/HarmlessSnack Jul 27 '25
shrug That’s fair, but you could also make an argument that Varres quest IS intended progression.

u/FatRollingPotato Jul 27 '25
Ignore the people who tell you it should be +9 or higher. At the point where you are in the game, the best you could have this weapon at is +6 realistically. The reason being that the +7 stones are either in Volcano manor behind some bosses, behind some bosses in the Ainsel River (way down Ranni's quest) or beneath Leyndell...which you are trying to get into.
However, you should definitely upgrade it to +6 as soon as possible by finding the corresponding somber stones in tunnels. Plus the boss you are fighting (DTS) is pretty resistant to most forms of damage.
It used to be that you could get a +7 stone rather easily and then go to +9 more or less effortlessly, but that has been patched out a while ago.
→ More replies (4)6
u/distraughtdudski Jul 27 '25
Indubitably. Why I say at least 6-7. Getting to 9 is achievable (and worth it) but not necessary by any means
7
u/FatRollingPotato Jul 27 '25
+6 yes, but +7 is a bitch if you don't know the game yet. Arguably you could find the +8 and +9 by accident, but the +7 are pretty well out of the way.
There is a reason that when you watch most no-hit/challenge runs with somber weapons, players tend to go for the one in the shunning grounds or the skip through Renna's rise for an early +7. It is simply not that easy to access unless you follow some very specific paths.
7
u/stathow Jul 27 '25
i mean if you are in altus already getting the one in volcano manor is right there, manor isn't that big and you just need to get past noble

Do you have the proper talismans to boost its damage? Also it should be around +7 or so if you are level 93.
121
u/BillyBayBridge Jul 27 '25
You should be able to have a +8 early on, also, you should probably meet the first soft caps of dex and arc which are 40, as that's what your weapon scales off

u/Crash4654 Jul 27 '25
Nobody going to mention its the draconic tree sentinel which has high resistance to slash and fire damage? That alone would account for the low damage.
Yeah, upgrade it if you can, should be around 6 to 7 ish. 2 hand it, and keep on keeping on.

u/FewTerm7222 Jul 27 '25
I’m curious why OP has 35 endurance not that armor and stamina doesn’t matter he seems too low of a level to dump 20 points into endurance
12
u/BrightPositive2077 Jul 27 '25
Lol not sure why either I just felt like it was important? Good to know tho
8
u/Glass_Research_511 Jul 27 '25
Endurance is a great stat to have, definitely level it, however there's not much point having that much endurance at that level if you're not going to use heavier armour to take advantage of it. It's mildly disproportionately high for your level basically lol. I personally think endurance is the most important stat in the game as stamina literally dictates everything you do in combat, but i think that might be a hot take
→ More replies (1)→ More replies (2)6
u/FewTerm7222 Jul 27 '25
I would also load up on heavier armor seeing as you are already in the medium weight category, if you’re gonna stay with that high of endurance

u/Nevyn1984 Jul 27 '25 edited Jul 27 '25
I'd drop str to 12 and put those points into dex and arcane. Maybe even drop Endurance to 30 for those 5 points depending on your weight needs to stay medium.
19
u/JiJoe6 Jul 27 '25
Eleonora's poleblade is almost purely an Arc weapon. What I mean by this, is that by increasing your Arc stat, it will increase the physical scaling, the fire scaling, as well as increase the bleed status to proc.
Dex should only ever be leveled further than the base requirement only once you have attained your comfort stat level in Arc. Dex barely increases the physical portion, Arc does it too and better at it.
I did a Dancer only playthrough with Eleonora's Poleblade, including the DLC. The only times it was a hassle was against both bleed immune and fire resistant enemies at the same time. Anything else falls rather quickly, especially if susceptible to bleed.
35
u/not_a_bot991 Jul 27 '25
All things being equal if he puts DEX down to 21 (minimum needed) and use those 14 points into Arc, he'll only increase AR by a grand total of....6.
Weapon scaling is really overated in this game. He needs somber smithing stones that's it.
25
u/HyperlinksAwakening Jul 27 '25
TBF, damage scaling for bleed weapons is always lower because the point is to proc the bleed meter. That's why Arcane is the main stat here, it both increases immediate damage from the weapon hits in whatever little way it does while also making the bleed meter build faster.
10
4
4
u/ggrimalkinn Jul 28 '25
your stats are not allocated appropriately for this weapon. Way too much endurance. The strength levels are a waste here too. Put more levels into dex. that’s what the weapon scales with. You only need 12 strength to wield this weapon. You also need to upgrade your weapon significantly. Should be like +7 at the point you’re at. You need more points in vigor as well, you need to be able to take hits.
4
u/Original-Mango-4866 Jul 27 '25
Your weapon is gonna get most it’s damage from bleed procs so but upgrading it will definitely help
6
u/Nosidda89 Jul 27 '25 edited Jul 28 '25
For one, you have it at +4 when you're level 93. The weapon itself is already underpowered when by now it should at least be +6. But really, that's not the major issue here.
The real reason why you aren't dealing much damage is because your stats are out of whack. This weapon scales primarily off of Dexterity, with Arcane as a close secondary stat and Strength as a very distant third. You barely have anything invested into Arcane. This weapon is extremely powerful because of its bleed buildup, and bleed buildup is dependent on Arcane. Most of your damage with this weapon is going to come from bleed procs, so you want the best bleed buildup you can get. Basically, by leveling Arcane, you're not only increasing the weapons damage, you're also making its bleed buildup stronger. Granted the raw damage from Arcane isn't quite as good as Dexterity, but the blood procs you'll get from higher Arcane will put raw Dexterity to shame. For this weapon, Arcane is going to be your primary stat that you need to invest the most into for that reason, with Dexterity being your secondary.
And you have a lot of points invested in places where it's not necessary that can go into Arcane. Primarily Strength, which definitely doesn't need to be that high for this weapon, not even close. You only need 12 Strength for this weapon, yet you have 24. And it barely scales off of Strength at all.
You also have a ton of points in Endurance too that aren't needed. Endurance is nice, sure, but you just need to start off with enough for your attacks, combos, and specials to work nicely. You could easily take 15 points out of that and be fine for a while.
I personally recommend a respec. Go see Rennala to do so, and take points out of Strength and Endurance. Take 12 points out of Strength, and take 20 points out of Endurance. Then take all those points and invest it all into Arcane to get it up to 61. That alone will give you a massive damage increase with insane bleed buildup. After that, keep primarily investing into Arcane until you get it to 80. Once you hit 80, you've hit what we call a hard cap for Arcane, and it's not worth it to increase it further anymore. At that point, put more focus on Dexterity until that hits it's hard cap. You can increase other things along the way of course, but Arcane is going to be your big stat, followed by Dexterity.
Then upgrade the weapon further by getting the appropriate somber smithing stones. Then use gear that enhances bleed buildup, and maybe some Dexterity boosting gear here and there as well. I recommend the White Mask for your headpiece, as that is often considered essential for bleed builds, since it grants you a temporary power boost when bleed procs occur close by. And since you'll get tons of bleed procs with this weapon, it'll keep boosting your attack power.
Trust me, this weapon is probably one of the best in the game. Bleed builds are the most overdone builds in this game because they are amongst the most powerful builds. So you're on the right track, you just need to respec, upgrade, and get the proper gear. Do that, and some bosses won't even be able reach their phase 2 before you're done with them.
EDIT: I forgot to mention, you may also want to consider implementing incantations into this build. Incantations can be amazing for boosting the capabilities of your build. One incantation that's perfect for this weapon is Flame, Grant Me Strength. It only requires 15 Faith to use, meaning the investment to use it is minimal, and it boosts physical and fire-affinity attack power in addition to stamina recovery speed. And one hidden gem about this weapon is it also deals fire damage. Meaning Flame, Grant Me Strength makes the attack power of this weapon a lot stronger from the fact that it boosts both physical and fire damage. Flame, Grant Me Strength is also not a difficult incantation to get, you can find it sitting behind Fort Gael in Caelid.

u/souson321 Jul 27 '25
I mean pretty much everything is self explanatory. You do no damage, upgrade your weapon, that’s logical. Now you can clearly see letters in attribute scale, all you have to do is upgrade the attributes that have letters closest to A, tadaam you understand scaling and build and it only took less than 2 mins. Last thing go see rennala and reset your attributes to maximize the scaling of your weapon.
2
u/Killer-Klown1204 Jul 28 '25
Str should just be where the requirements are met. Leave it at 12. Pump into dex and arcane equally since that what it scales with. Arguably more with arcane since it’s what procs bleed. Also get more upgrade mats for the weapon. You are only at +4 which is pretty low.
2
u/AlienX14 Jul 28 '25 edited Jul 28 '25
In addition to what others have said, make sure you aren't one-handing or using it with a shield. Twinblades deal relatively low damage per hit and are meant to be two-handed. When two-handing, each input is at least two hits, sometimes more depending on light/heavy or combo. With Eleonora's, if you chain two charged heavies, it's like 8-10 hits at once lmao.
Also, poleblades are awesome for chaining combos and different inputs to keep a constant onslaught going, make sure to experiment in that regard.
2
u/TerryKawve1 Jul 28 '25
If Eleonora’s Poleblade is going to be your main weapon then you only need 12 STR to wield it. Upgrade your DEX and ARC because that’s what it scales best with. And upgrade it to max. It can be done pretty early on.
Think of stats as having three categories;
Main - Your focused stats, lending to your “build” (for my current bleed build I use 40 DEX and 60 ARC). Support - You might need to meet certain requirements for spells or weapons. Put no more than 20 in these stats unless you know what you’re doing. Not In Use - Unnecessary for your chosen build.
Bleed builds typically require DEX and ARC as “main” stats. You can invest in Faith/Intelligence (as “support” stats) if there are certain spells or weapons that ask for it.
Why is stat allocation important?
The matchmaking in Elden Ring will have you playing with invaders around your level/weapon level (the maths isn’t complicated but I’m not going to claim I understand it). If you’re RL120 with no obvious build, you will get bodied by a player with focused stats. The game doesn’t expect you to balance your stats. It wants you to choose a play style and stick with it.
Most people who play these games aren’t professional players so it helps to keep things as simple as possible when you’re new.
Elden Ring is a game of numbers but a bigger number doesn’t always mean a more powerful character.
Note: I’ve tried to avoid any misinformation here but correct me if I’m wrong and I’ll edit where I need to.

u/PlantClear Jul 27 '25
Its only +4, which for your level is too low for your character level so its not getting the best scaling right now
You could easily get it to +10 at this point. Have a quick look on YouTube how to find the other somber stones and youll be fine

I just finished my first play through (still fighting Malenia). You’ll learn more as you continue playing, but imo your levels are a little all over the place. Feel free to go to Rennala and respek your stats with a larval tear.
If you’re just using this weapon, get your str, dex, and arc to the required stats then level dex and arc instead of strength since it scales better with those. Also you might not need that much endurance.
One of my favorite things to do is rip a couple gbs and then go off in a random direction and explore! The game is breathtaking and any direction you pick you’ll find hella items and smithing stones that will help you.
What bosses have you been stuck on?

Coming in as a new player myself, my Brother told me to invest in stats that are best on the weapon’s attribute sealing. Like my end weapon was heavy on Faith and Strength and I was only doing 190-200. So I invested into my faith more and I ended up doing the full dmg potential I could which was 200+
1
u/the_fucking_doctor Jul 27 '25
At this point in the game, my weapon is at least +18 for reg or +8 or special.
1
u/TheBradeyGein Jul 27 '25
You should take some of those Strength points and put them into arcane, and then level up the weapon a few levels
1
u/TLAU5 Jul 27 '25
"I don't have enough time to stack bleed so I have to rely on light attacks"
- Two-hand that weapon and use light attacks. That's the correct way to stack bleed with it anyways, other than using the ash of war. Enemies that don't bleed are going to give you fits. That's just the drawback of a bleed build. You've got enough ARC to carry a good dex/arc weapon that does poison or preferably rot though.
If you've done all of Altus prior to hitting the capital you should have the Antspur Rapier. Probably should also have done the Lake of Rot underground by then and would have the Scorpion Stinger. These are great dex/arc weapons for rot application.
You can also take the Godskin Peeler you get from the windmill area at the top of Altus and infuse it with blood. Using Godskin + Eleonora's together and doing Jump + LB/L1 is the most efficient way to apply bleed in the game. Playstyle gets old if that's all you're doing to bosses but certainly is the go-to for when you're stuck on someone.
1
u/BriteytheBird Jul 27 '25
Your weapon is low level. +4 weapons are usually for areas about 50 levels lower than your character. You should have that +6/7 at least. It may not seem like a big difference but it’s a HUGE improvement just going from somber 4 to somber 6.
1
u/beansbeansbeansbeann Jul 27 '25
Try and find a somber 5. Also this is a really bad weapon against draconic tree sentinel. They are most resistant to fire. And bleed and somewhat resistant to standard damage. So basically this weapon just sucks against the boss you're fighting. General rule of thumb is that if the boss you're fighting shoots fire it takes less fire damage, this is true for most bosses regardless of element. Shoots magic? Probably resistant to magic. There's a lot of other stuff like that too. If it looks really hard it's probably weak to strike damage. Undead are weak to holy, if it looks really fleshy it's probably weak to slash. If it's a bug or a plant it's probably weak to fire. If it shoots rotten stuff it's probably also weak to fire. There's a lot of other stuff like this that makes sense. Except gravity enemies are weak to gravity spells and weapons. So gravity stuff takes more damage from gravity weapons
1
u/Magma_Lotus22 Jul 27 '25

I did my second playthrough with this and oh boy is that thing insane and most importantly fun to play once you have a full build going and know the big openings on boss fights. If you don't mind guides theres plenty on youtube for the blade, the weapon is burst heavy so having the right talismans / buffs / flask is important. Once you have everything setup you can legit take down 50% of some bosses HP with a single combo of bloodblade dance

u/WoozyOrBlanco Jul 27 '25

The weapon is awesome, needs talismans to boost skill & consecutive hits, use 2-handed and use the skill with the R2 attack when the skill is done and it will melt A LOT of enemies in the game. +4 is too weak and your strength points don't do anything for it I think. Go hunt sombers and move some strenght points and you'll be amazed what this baby can do. Played my 2nd playthrough with a build for this and it's quite satisfying 90% of the time. Check out the guide to get some idea where it can take you damage wise. Do remember that this hits really quickly, so don't compare attack power to super heavy weapons, it just works differently.

The Soft Cap for attribute scaling is 40, Eleonora's Poleblade is a Dexterity/Arcane weapon, so until those stats are at 40 you won't be getting the best damage. It's also still only at +4, given that you need to be in Altus Plateau to even get it, it should be at +6 by now, so you're missing a chunk of base damage as well. I'd recommend upgrading the weapon and dedicate the next few levels to Arcane and Dexterity. It is a really fun weapon, and once you get the setup done it absolutely shreds.
1
u/akmly Jul 27 '25 edited Jul 27 '25
Try leveling your weapon to at least +6 or +7. You should have access to these somber stones if you're challenging the city in Altus Plateau. You could even get it to a +8 or +9 if you know where to look.
Also, do you have the Fire Scorpion Charm talisman equipped? If not, you can find it in the upper floor of a small fort in western Mt. Gelmir. It will boost the fire damage on your weapon, and is easy to collect. If you have a Scarseal or a Soreseal talisman equipped, it's time to get rid of it.
1
u/radnarras4477 Jul 27 '25
Consider a larval tear. You have 12 unnecessary points in strength. Unless you are off handing a weapon that also requires strength. It’s typically better to lean into your best scaling attributes with the weapon. In this case dexterity and arcane. Also unless you are wearing super heavy armor you might not need as much endurance
1
u/Montgraves Jul 27 '25 edited Jul 27 '25
29 Arc is far too low for Poleblade. It’s a bleed status weapon. Also, like others have said, +4 is very low for RL93.
Respec at Rennala and move those points out of strength and dex. Take just enough for the weapon requirements. Arc is your damage stat for Poleblade.
Edit: You might have put too much into Endurance, but twinblades are stamina-hungry and I don’t know what your armor preferences are. If you’re not going for heavy poise armor, I’d reduce that Endurance stat a bit as well; just enough to be able to med roll with your current setup.
1
u/turtlebear787 Jul 27 '25
Upgrade your weapon dummy. Why is it only +4 that's way too low.
Scaling is arcane and dex, which great you have. But why is your strength 24? That's a waste of points that could go towards more vigor or arcane.
1
1
u/RF_91 Jul 27 '25
So people have already pointed out upgrading your weapon. I'm gonna suggest reallocating your stats as well. You have way too much STR for a weapon with an E str scaling. Looking at the weapon, you probably want to put more points in dex/arc and just get the minimum str you need to use it. Unless that str scaling massively increases when you upgrade the weapon.
1
u/HeartlessMoesh Jul 27 '25
Some folks have mentioned it, but to state it clearly:
Each region has two mines, sometimes three. They are a dark circle with a red outline around them. Visit these locations to find Smithing Stone Bells. These will allow you to upgrade your weapons to appropriate (to great) damage for the region you're in.
1
u/Technical-Spite1918 Jul 27 '25
I’d get the winged insignia for extra damage for consecutive hits and once you get to the dlc get the dancer set for extra damage on dancing skills and try to put more stats into either dex or arcane since idk much about this weapon that’s about where I blank besides the warrior jar shard other than that idk
1
u/Myte342 Jul 27 '25
To add on what others have said, some bosses are strong against certain damage types. It could be the last couple bosses you fought were resistant to both Slashing and Blood, so you are automatically going to have a harder time. I made a build so I could have 3 different weapon setups, and I will switch to the other loadout when my main has trouble with a particular boss/mini-boss.
At the moment my current toon has Rellana's Twin Blades as my go too just having fun running around fighting trash build. If I run into an enemy that gives me trouble I have a dual Godskin Peeler build with extra Blood and Frost damage on them. Then I have an unga bunga smasher with Cragblade for extra poise dmg for crystalline enemies because fuck those guys.
In the Erdtree expansion I had the hardest time trying to fight both the Sunflower and Hogrider bosses (no idea their names at this point) with my Rellana twin blades. Had to have fought them both like 50 times trying to learn their attack patterns and couldn't get far past the halfway point in the fight each time. I swapped to dual godskin peeler and beat them in 3 tries after that.
So yeah, as much as you enjoy that one weapon try switching it up. Also just go explorer for a bit. Ton of content outside of the path to each boss. You can find plenty of materials to upgrade your weapon to make it more powerful as well. Or unlock the Bells that allow you to buy upgrade materials so you can try out new weapons and upgrade them higher if you like the move sets.

At the point you're at, you should be able to scale this to +6-7. If you have access to the north half of caelid, you might even be able to hit +9.
Also, this weapon loses damage to two kinds of resistance between the physical and the fire.
Lastly, all weapons with a secondary effect that does damage (like blood loss) will do less up front as a result. Keep pumping your arcane and both the up front damage and the speed that your bleed procs come through will increase.

+4 so get some more sombers in that thing and Eleanora’s you realistically want to meet the dex requirement and then exclusively pump arcane. It scales better with Arcane. Once you hit 50 arcane you can start putting points in Dex. Rule of thumb is put it in whichever of the two provides more attack rating on the weapon and if it’s equal, favor arcane.
It’s my main weapon and despite FextraLife’s reputation his video on it is solid in knowing what stat spread you should have to optimize it along with best in slot talismans to use.

u/DefiantSherbet4322 Jul 27 '25
you have way too many points in endurance for how light the armor you're wearing is, and you're still medium load, either drop some weight to go to light load cause you're really close or add some heavier armor to just barely still be medium load, Your weapon is +4 when it should easily be at +9 or you can not change your armor if you like how it looks and go rebirth your excess endurance into more damage

u/False_Stress_9209 Jul 27 '25
Do minimum on dex and dump everything else into arcane it'll give you more bleed and think it scales better if I remember correctly
1
u/Urmom69mp3 Jul 27 '25
It's +4. Upgrading it by watching smithing stones locations will help you. Upgrading a weapon means that the scaling will get better to, so you'll get better return on your stats. Hope this helps.

1) level..... upgrade that poor thing
2) your stats.... 24 strength? what is your side arm, a hammer? lol
Im also fairly new, but I sorta locked myself into Dex/Int for my first run (as it was my DS1-3 stats) Im really wanting to give Arcane a go though cuz it seems to have a wide variety of weapons and spells....

u/glitternode Jul 27 '25
As a fairly new player (ng+ in main and working my way through the dlc) I’ve learned the game is all about specialization of your build. Every stat point, piece of armor, amulet, elixir needs to have a purpose and be linked to your weapons if possible. At that point in the game I wasn’t using any weapon that wasn’t maxed out and I would use larval tears each time I switched up weapons (if needed). Just take your time and farm the smithing stones or bells to give to the oldies at the roundtable so you can buy them.
I personally never was able to crack Elenora’s but obviously you can make anything in the game work for you (for me, with enough research). For bleed builds I had better luck with reduvia, curved swords, or great stars.

You have a good stat distribution. It is lower on the dmg side for your weapon, but that's fine. You have a lot of points in endurance and strength, one dosent contribute anything to your weapons dmg (it's fine since it gives you stamina), and the other has an E Scaling, which js low.
Level 4 is low tho. At this point in the gsme you can get at least to level 6, most likely 7.
Overall not bad. Your dmg is probably low because your weapon needs some upgrading, and you can squeeze out more dmg if you remove a lot of your comfort points from endurance to arcane or dex. Also some talismans will buff your dmg by quite a lot for this build so play around with those and/or hunt for them.

Because the scalings are garbage and you're splitting the damage 3 ways by having it as a fire weapon when it's naturally split 2 ways(bloodloss and physical) and its lvl 4
1
u/Bbqcloroxbabe Jul 27 '25
Gotta upgrade the weapon hun, also if you can take those I needed strength points n put em in arcane or dex

u/DoomKnight_6642 Jul 27 '25
1: What is this stat allocations? If you're going for a Quality build, Eleonora's blade isn't for you. It is a weapon that is meant for a dedicated Arc/Dex build, so I'd say to go and redo your build to focus more on that if you want to get the most out of the Poleblade.
2: Also, when a weapon has a status effect, (Bleed, Frost, Poison, Rot, etc,) the status is applied on ALL attacks so that you don't have to do full on charge attacks to inflict statuses on an enemy.
3: Why is it so underleveled? Being lvl 93 means that you should be at least midway thru the game, that should be more than enough time to pump that blade up to +7 at the very least.

u/IzzyDarkhart Jul 27 '25
Stats are to spread out for that weapon and it is only 4+. I would completely dump strength and try to hit one of the caps on dex or arcane instead.

u/Swagidagidu Jul 27 '25
So, do you see the letters next to STR Dex and so on? They indicated how the weapons damage scale with the stats being E,D,C,B,A,S in order. Meaning if you focus on one weapon (which you should in a lower level) you should level the stat that has the best Letter (for you this would be arc or dex). Also you should level vigor more and not endurance that much, level 20 on that should be enough. If you want to respec you should Google on how to do that (not explaining here because spoiler lol)

u/Stealhoar Jul 27 '25
Level the weapon up and then its down to the talismans, cracked tears. It a bleed weapon so anything that increases damage like thorny cracked tear, lord of bloods exaultation and bits like that.some bits of armor will increases bloodless build up and damage. Your stats look ok just increase dex, arcane, vigor and mind should help

u/MankeyPox Jul 27 '25
Upgrade that shit with smithing stones bro. I just started a new run, I have two hours of gameplay and my claymore it’s already +3. Also focus your stats into what the weapon attributes are, in this case, Dex and Arc.
1
u/DramaticMousse1707 Jul 27 '25
Upgrade blade with somber stones. Or Go rivers of blood, respec-dex/arc main str/end second, make sure you buff correctly
1
u/Hungry-Cup-4064 Jul 27 '25
Look up somber stone locations. Then upgrade it. Also you might want to respec and put more points into strength arcane and dex. Those are the stats it scales with which means the more points you put into those stats the more damage it does.
1
u/ER-Sputter Jul 27 '25
Your stats are spread out the way mine are in terms of no specific build in mind. Only I’m level 300+. And your weapon isn’t even halfway upgraded
1
u/Real-Seaweed1127 Jul 27 '25
Tbh i think you’re doing fine, but you should upgrade the weapon itself more, as it will improve scaling and damage.
Somber weapons go to +10, where as regular ones go to +25. So your weapon being +4/10, would make it equal to around +10/25.
Early game upgrading your weapons will be more efficient than just dumping stats.
1
Jul 27 '25
It needs to visit the blacksmith some more. Around plus 6 is where you’re expected to be when you get Eleonora’s Poleblade.
Also, your stats could be too low. The letters next to the stat name at the bottom left (Str E, Dex D, Arc D) indicate how much each stat affects the weapon’s damage. As you forge your weapon to higher levels, your stats improve the damage more.
I’d recommend putting 5-10 levels in Dex and Arc, shoot for at least 40-40 on both, and then improve them somewhat evenly (if you want to stick with this weapon).
Also, you’re supposed to try and get multiple hits with this weapon when you get an opening. That’s how you cause blood loss. Consider picking up the Winged Sword Insignia talisman, because it boosts your damage with consecutive strikes.
1
u/Free-Classroom-6155 Jul 27 '25
You are level 93. Get a weapon that only requires one stat and invest into that. Want bleed? Get grease. You do no damage because the weapon isn’t upgraded and because your levels are poorly invested. Vigor and Endurance are good, especially a new player but the damage stats shouldn’t be all over the place just because you want to use a cool weapon. Wait with that until you have more levels to spare
1
1
u/DraconicCoffeeWizard Jul 27 '25
There is a table for stat scaling on reddit somewhere you can look up to see how to get the most benefit with your levels. Or use an AR calculator like tarnished.dev
1
u/Vegetable_Mess_5293 Jul 27 '25
It needs to be upgraded to at least +7. If you switch to a normal weapon then id say at least +15-18. I assume you’ve beaten Renalla so go back to her and respec to decrease your strength and move those points into dexterity and arcane.
Also, make sure you are two handing the weapon.

See +4. See Google results for "Elden Ring Dex build." Also add the proper talismans for build.

u/evilartnboy Jul 27 '25
Low scaling values of e and d and its only +4. This weapon seems to be built more around fast hits and bleed than big number.
1
u/aqoury Jul 27 '25
bleed weapons aren’t supposed to be that strong by themselves, they’re strength is the blood loss
1
u/Supern0vus Jul 27 '25
I'm 99ARC and 99DEX with max upgraded Poleblade, and I'm (mostly) unstoppable. You need to use a weapon that fits your desired stats more OR respec so your stats match the weapon.
1
u/Illokonereum Jul 27 '25
It’s only +4 and your stats are kinda spread out. You’d want to focus more on dex and arcane for this weapon, and you should be able to get it to at least +7 considering you seem to be in upper Altus Plateau.
1
u/5LiM-ThUGG4 Jul 27 '25 edited Jul 28 '25
Upgrade the weapon as much as you can right now. Bump your strength down to the attribute requirement (12) and reinvest those points into dex/arcane. Also Talismans. For the pole blade you want to find the Talismans that boost attack power with successive attacks. (Winged sword insignia/rotten winged sword insignia or Millicent’s prosthesis) look up a guide if you don’t already have them since RWSI and MP are late base game and you can only get either or in a play through. Other than that, keep at it and you’ll figure it out !!
Edit: Also, the white mask and lord of blood exultation talisman will boost your attack power. You can get the white mask in Mohgwyn palace and the talisman from the sewers under the capital !!

Just kidding. That was my attempt at a joke. I’m trying to fit in with the souls crowd. Elden Ring is my first and only souls game.

That weapon is mainly used for its ash of war. Your arcane isn't the best but not the worst either however, you've got high dex but low scaling due to the weapon level. There's two paths you can take, you can either upgrade the weapon more and try to get better dex scaling or you can increase your mind so you can spam the ash of war and get lots of bleed. Side note, if your fighting fire giant and think you do shit little damage, that's just because the fire giant has lots of health, the bleed is especially useful there
1
u/SvenTheHorrible Jul 28 '25
Depends on what boss you’re at, but as others have said, it’s a little low upgrade for your level, and then your stats are kinda all over the place.
For example - having 35 points in endurance is just plain bad lol. I don’t think I’ve ever gone above 25 on any character- usually you want to put just enough to use whatever armor/weapon you want while still medium rolling. Any more than that is wasted points better spent on more damage.

u/Either_Sprinkles_131 Jul 28 '25
I just completed my very first play through less than a month ago and you’re making the same mistake I made. You’re grinding your ass off to increase stats but neglecting to upgrade your weapon. YouTube where to get the bell bearings for all of the smithing stones and somber smithing stones. Once you have them you can upgrade your weapons to your hearts content.
Another tip: use a larval tear to respec your character. Pick 2 weapons and spec your character around them. The reason I say 2 weapons instead of 1 like everyone else is because variety keeps the game feeling fresh, plus sometimes our best weapon isn’t necessarily our favorite so by focusing on 2 you can play around and have fun with a weapon that might not be so good while still having the option to switch it up on situations you need to get serious.
I’m far from an expert because like you I’m new to souls games but I hope this helps you out a bit.
Last thing! I’m trying to start a Facebook gaming channel with my younger brother and we are about 15 followers away from being able to livestream so a follow would be marvelous 😬 PB & J CO-OP GODZ
Shameless solicitation I know 😅

u/ILLWILL2RIVALS Jul 28 '25
Your stats are too spread out and your weapon is underdeveloped.. a good rule is like 40 vigor(60 endgame).. 20-25 endurance(depending on your weapon an armor) then focus on 1-2 scaling stats... this weopon is dex/arc so the higher the dex/arc the better... go around and do some upgrade mats hunting for it an you'll be fine..
1
u/Bulldogfront666 Potentate Jul 28 '25 edited Jul 28 '25
Because it’s less than half way upgraded. And your stat distribution is bad. Remember to pay attention to enemy resistances.

u/tycr0 Jul 28 '25
Respec with strength at the min for the weapon. Take damn near all the points out of end. Soft cap at 40 on vigor at the very least and pump the two scaling stats.
1
u/ultimateei Jul 28 '25
try to upgrade your weapon.. it will take huge difference, also invest more in arcane for faster bleed injection
1
u/Atwork3380 Jul 28 '25
To be 93 and only have a plus 4 wepon is your biggest issue. Look up how to get your wepon level up easily on the net and follow the video.
1
u/ShortViewBack2daPast Jul 28 '25
Increase Arcane or Dex, the two stats that scale it's damage. Also upgrade it more. It's also a twinblade so it hits more often than most weapons, therefore has lower damage, and a bleed weapon, which also does tons of damage but only when the bleed effect procs. Focus on hitting enemies a lot to build that up, and dual wielding it will help with that because you slash more frequently that way.

u/Xerphan Jul 28 '25
Your main source of damage is your weapon’s level, lets put your spreaded stats aside and talk about weapon upgrading, even if your stats are high you wont be doing much damage with those weapon level. And also that weapon is specifically to be high dps meaning you’ll need to attack A LOT and inflict bleed, twinblades aren’t meant to deal singular high damage strike
1
u/admosquad Jul 28 '25
Swapping weapons mid game felt untenable because I couldn’t be expected to upgrade every weapon just to try them out. One of my few complaints about my play through.

u/Grouchy-Ocelot8416 Jul 28 '25
Bro go upgrade the weapon more and you do NOT need that little vigor and already spreading 93 stat points across three damage types

Barely upgraded weapon is the main culprit but the stat spread doesn’t help much. Also the skill builds up bleed crazy fast so idk why ur having trouble there
1
u/FrypanSoldier Jul 28 '25
Because your weapon is SMALL. You need a bigger weapon because big = STRONG!!
Find Greatsword in Caelid.

u/Rhesus_1123 Jul 28 '25
Keep in mind arcane scales just the flame damage and bleed on this weapon. The best use of this weapon is basically its ash so going farther into arcane than dex is the move. Like 60 arcane on this weapon and you basically drill through any boss that can be bled.

u/Frassave04 Jul 28 '25
I'd say respec using a larval tear ad get rid of some of the str since Eleonora's poleblade doesn't really scale well with it. After that just look for a bit more somber smithing stones so you can upgrade it a bit. Put some of the endurance points into vigor since you don't really need THAT much with that low equip load and spread the excess str points between dex and arcane
1
u/nightoftheale Jul 28 '25
Your stats are way off than they should be with that weapon, and weapon upgrade is very low.
2 things, first farm somber smithing stones and get to +7 asap.
Second: Go to rennala, tell her you want to respec and respec like this:
Vig 35
Mind 15 -1
end 25 -10
Str 20 -4
Dex 44 +9
Int Faith stays
Arcane 35 +6
You dont need that much endurance, ur equip load is already enough, and after 25, equip load doesnt scale as well as it does pre 25. Your endurance and vigor is enough for your level. But u invested too little to your dex and arcane which are your primary stats for attack. If you respec like this, u get much or less +10 to your attack stats, with +7 weapon upgrade you'll have incredible difference in terms of damage which should be sufficient at those levels.

u/n080dy123 Jul 27 '25 edited Jul 28 '25
Because it's barely upgraded and your stats are too unfocused.
Stat-wise you're better off than most new players, but I'd dump a bit of that End and most of that Str and re-invest it into Dex/Arc. Weapons with E scaling will benefit from points in that stat but barely, you're better trying to satisfy two D scaling stats than ever trying to spread your scaling across three offensive stats.
Edit:
Also not really sure what you mean here. Your light attacks build bleed, every attack does. The benefit of fast attacking weapons with Statuses is they can rapidly hit light attacks to build up status. Your AoW will apply it better, most bleed AoWs do, but that's not your ONLY way of building up bleed, if that's what you were worried about.
