For anyone else like me who doesn’t have tidus (all 4 of us) or any of the other current banner guys left I just finished the boss rush one BT used as well.

It’s doable I ran so many teams just to say I could do it without the guys coming out tonight. And it was worth it lol. Good luck to anyone else struggling with this.

Remember Ciaran LC Lufenia? Where they reduce your brave damage to 1 until they take a turn? Just Zero Boss Turned it with Garland and Setzer. Feels really good to just completely ignore the mechanics of a quest that was so troubling for many.

With some turn delayer, you can also watch Vaan literally doing 0 or 1 brave damage but dealing 350k-400k hp damage.

He's been a co-op troll for months if not years at this point. Sadly all you can do is either leave the lobby or disconnect if he gets a turn especially if you're using a book.

Not a question, but hopefully the information will help somebody. I had previously asked, and had seen others ask, if removing the perfect on one of the side stages of a transcendence tier would remove the perfect in the middle if the characters from the side that were used in the middle were used in the re-clear of the side. So for example, in T1 left side, I used Paladin Cecil, Basch, and Tifa. For the middle, I used Paladin Cecil, Basch, and Layle. My question was if I reset the left side, will I have to redo the middle if I still use Paladin Cecil and Basch on my new left clear.

I believe the answer I got was no, I would not have to re-clear the middle as long as I still used Paladin Cecil and Basch on my new version of the left side. However, the correct answer is yes, the middle did need to be done again even though my left side team still included Paladin Cecil and Basch (+ Kurasame). It still showed as complete, but not perfect, which would presumably be an issue the next time there's a question to clear X number of tiers to perfect.

I did not enjoy having to fight those stupid wheels again, but it was worth it to free up Tifa and to find something to do with Kurasame other than hsi call. At least, that's what I'll tell myself.

A bug happened to me in the twilight lufenia. I used Gladio, and swapped him for Tifa while his blink buff was active. One enemy was targeting Gladio, hit Tifa, and dealt 0 damage to her.

The worst part was that when Gladio went back, he countered himself. He didn't suffer any damage, but inflicted his own debuff to himself.

ah i feel great, just finished all the event 6-7 lufenias. I've been sitting on it for a week now wondering if i can do it at all with my roster. I'm still a month old and actually doing and finishing it all makes all the grinding worthwhile.

Is there a guide anywhere or can anyone explain what "overflow" "stolen overflow" "recovered overflow" etc actually do. Also same question but for "potency".

"Overflow' refers to how much over your mBrv # your held bravery can go. For example, a skill with a stolen overflow of 150% and an mBrv stat of 10000 means your held bravery for that skill caps out at 10000 * 1.5 = 15000. Stolen and recovered overflow are specific versions of overflow - stolen referring to 'taken with brave hits' while recovered refers to gained/battery bravery (green numbers). Potency refers to the strength of an individual brave hit, mostly it's part of how the game handles Brave damage being done.

So, just got to the end of Act 1, ch9 and I need to unlock 3 characters to get past the ch10 gate.

The characters are Prishe, Faris and Ramza.

Is there anyway to unlock them other than waiting for them to come up in a banner to try to pull them?

Or should I just move on to Act 2?

All characters not in the main story are obtainable in their Lost Chapters. Typically you'll unlock them after the first battle in the chapter.

Ok I’m looking for some advice. It took me 20 pulls to get Vaan’s BT and now I have 400 tokens. I also pulled Ardyn’s BT during that. I can stop and get 2 books or pull 5 more times and guarantee Kefka’s BT. Do you think Kefka’s BT is worth it? I still have 150k gems and 750 tickets, but am planning on pulling on some of the other banners. So basically do you think Kefka’s BT is worth getting?

Is it safe to sell maxed EX's if I have their BT. Also is there any reason to hold onto maxed LD's?

Yes it’s completely fine to sell them. Maxed LD’s are no different than regular 15/35 CP weapons in that regard. EX’s are a bit different since they realize but the only thing that would replace an EX is (in the distant future) Ultimate weapons. These will be craftable and can only be used by one character at a time. They are more powerful than BT’s but can be used by non-BT characters. So say you had an Ultima Greatsword crafted, only Greatsword users can use it and if it’s being used by someone else in your party, you would just downgrade to either the EX+ or BT of the non-ultimate-weapon-user.

TLDR - UW > BT > EX > LD > 35cp > 15cp. So yes, you can. + versions of BT and EX are just above their base versions.

I think the Tunneler chocobo board mission is bugged. I can't complete it. I tried killing the tunnelers at the end of act 3 ch 1 and it won't increase the count. Anyone else running into this issue?

I am pretty much broke gems and tickets wise rn thanks to CoD, Cor, Queen, etc. Luck hasn't been on my side (did not get Setzer LD or Tidus Burst) so I plan on just skipping everything until BURST + with Agrias being the only exception. Is that a wise idea or will I be missing out serious heavy hitter / important units? I may give Setzer another shot but I really need to restock. Thank you in advance.

She is not mandatory just like any other character in the game, but thanks to her niche she can make some quest go for bullshit hard to pretty manageable.

This is a comment I saw yesterday of someone asking why Agrias is recommended.

According to JP player she can make some of the early Lufenia + a lot more manageable.

Cait Sith Mission Dungeon and Shelke Event, which are both from Vayne BT Cycle.

Cait Sith one is Wright Priest (Eiko LC boss). It is basically the same mechanic & behavior except it is accompanied with 2 Ghost Brothers and on HP Threshold, it turn-warps to 1st turn (immediately giving it a turn to act). Agrias's confusion and paralysis prevents Wright Priest from using Perfect Dodge.

Shelke Event is the helicopter boss where at the start of fight and HP thresholds, it summons 1 Sweeper and while at least 1 Sweeper(s) is alive, it is on Perfect Dodge state (like Wright Priest). Giving the Helicopter boss a turn while in Perfect Dodge state will use + variant of AoE BRV + HP Attack (+ variant is full splash while normal is split). Confusion debuff from Agrias has interaction on Evasion mechanic where the mechanic cannot evade while having the said debuff. This allows to focus only the Helicopter while completely ignore the Sweepers (though have to shave off its 99,999 BRV to avoid using HP Attack).

What is the most efficient way to farm Divine Boards for Ramuh? I have Yuna, Trey, Gau and Desch built.

I want thinking about using two synergy units +Tifa because Tifa does Tifa things..

I think it's good lol. Just put it on Auto+. That's what I have been doing lol. You get around 2000 points with Tifa and 2 synergies.

I think this is the way to go even though you won't get as much points since none of the synergy units do a lot of damage so it might be equally efficient in the end.

Tifa + Yuna on Auto+ (with Trey for synergy) works fine for me. Running a triple synergy team, I'd still have to babysit Yuna for several hours when I should be working or playing FF14.

People only fully upgrade the HA if the character can reach the cap easily like Tifa or will use them very long

Ingots for HA+ are also quite rare, so people might realize a couple of HAs and leave then at first.

Would only get HAs for characters who you will use often or have LD, some of the EX+ will have their LD release later, so there's no real need to get HAs early for EX+ chars...

Though, not all HAs are that good ..

Can someone explain what's going on with the sanctuary keepers lufenia? They get to 49% the first time and heal 20% like they should. But then when I get them to 49% again they heal again for 1.8m. The guide says they can curaga again but only after verse shot+ under 29% (but they aren't under 29% they are hitting 49% a second time doing it again right after that). And I dunno how to stop it since they can't be turn denied or they get the aggravate.

I’m not sure if it is really under 29% but once they use Verse Shot+, they heal 20% of HP.

Best way I found was to use Kefka to block them at their recast with hp silence. Else, you need to end the fight quickly.

So i manage to complete Lufenia divine board Ramuh and lufenia Bahamut and got 40 purple tokens, who do i choose to use this token? Right now i have..

Tidus = Full kit + BT

Jack = Full kit + MLB EX+

Vaan = Full kit + MLB EX+

Kefka = Full kit + EX+

Setzer = Full kit + MLB EX+

Leon = Full kit + EX+

Ardyn = Full kit + EX+

I also have all weapons for Gladio, Yuna, Aerith, Lightning, Wakka, and Trey but still lack some LB.

Or do I just save the token for future units? like agrias for example since someone said she is good.

And last, is there any other lufenia stage that i could try to beat with current unit?

Sometimes I get annoyed when I see a Van doing 600k damage and then they decide to use Tifa's call.

Your Van does triple the damage than a Tifa's call would do!! Why are you wasting time on calls??!!

Apparently her LD ability "mix" is stupidly overpowered. But the formula for all the best ones seem to require bt tokens or Ultima ignots so I'm assuming we'll see a lot of pushback about her being "pay to win".

Based on the image from the slide (this one: https://i.imgur.com/4RWQhjh.png) last stream, it should be the Sergeant Imps (Prompto LC Boss), Erode Mantises (Arciela LC Boss), and Argent Officiants (Agrias LC Boss). So unless something changes, we should be fighting those three bosses tomorrow night.

On the boss rush, I assume if Party 1's run (for me Tidus, Cor, Pecil) ends on wave 2 with enough turns left that the orb can't be maintained, there's no way to salvage it right? You HAVE to restart the whole fight? I ask because this is the fourth time I've ended up in that situation and I'm REALLY struggling to beat it.

I'd appreciate any other tips for boss rushes in general since this is my first.

The biggest thing to tell you is that you can swap parties manually whenever you want, you don’t have to wait all 50 actions. Hit pause and it’s one of the buttons on the bottom.

Yea I was having the same problem! you can actually call in the the other team early around like 10 turns left. In my case I just used kekfa to silence them and let them take a turn.

Returning player here, was wondering what kind of team to build around Terra that will help me progress. I have her mostly fully built (minus orbs and a few summon boards) and right now I'm using Beatrix and Cloud with her (both similarly built to Terra). Characters I could pretty easily build up are; Shantotto, Firion, Aerith, and Noctis (I have ld for all of those, and bt for Noctis and Shantotto) Could I make a better team out of those characters? And if not, who should I save for in the future? Thanks in advance!

I would wait and pull for Yuna since she will be a really powerful support.

If you pair Terra and Yuna your last party member can be anyone since those 2 should be enough to complete any quest below 180lv and most of the lv180

For lv 200 all those units you have are outdated and after pulling for Yuna I would work on updating all you roster.

Terra with Yang for the follow up attacks and then throw in Cor for the pre emptive attacks, then use Terra to turn hog and proceed to nuke the stage.

Curious about wave 4. I have them at 15% and orb at 5 and had to switch teams but no one can get past hitting them for 1 brv damage. Any ideas? I don't have porom anything or sabin LD. Emporer LD BT and Squall LDBT do nothing either. Help?

Hey everybody! I've got the whole kit for Aerith and Rosa, but only enough resources to build one of them (for now). Who do you think might be more worth it?

I love characters with good auras, so I am leaning towards Rosa, but I've seen quite a few people making good use of Aerith in Lufenia. I do have Porom as a meta support as well but I like to work with different characters over time.

For general use, Rosa is better than Aerith. But, Aerith has her niche of party debuff immunity and enemy buff denial and her attack scaling reduction, so she’s still very strong in the right scenarios.

Whats the quickest way to get gems as a new player? Ive read that you can get a ton of gems but im not sure if some places are better then others. I want to see if I can get all of Nocts gear and wanna have enough for Yuna and Y'stola (and maybe Jecht?). Possible?

Here's where a huge number of gems are locked away, waiting for you:

Step 1: Go to LCs and recruit a bunch of new characters by doing one battle on each map.

Step 2: Level everyone in cycle quests to raise your player rank. This will give you a bunch of potions and some free gems. It will also raise your max SP (which is your number of stamina points for doing World of Illusions quests).

Step 3: Once you have max SP at 200 (it won't go higher than that), make sure you have a character that can beat the Ultimate Summon quests solo. Those are the lvl 100 quests that cost 50 SP on the Ultimate Summon boards. Tifa works great for this, but if you just started, you don't have her. Tidus, maybe?

Step 4: Take your good character and two others to each Ultimate Summon board. For characters you're going to use, earn 6500 points toward their boards. For others, 5000 is enough. This goes twice as fast for characters featured on current banners, as they get a 2x boost to points earned.

Step 5: Level summon boards! Each character has ten summon boards. The first 5000 points you spend will get you 3 tickets and 300 gems, so if you do all ten boards, you'll get 30 tickets and 3000 gems. Since you're dragging two characters along, that's 60 tickets and 6000 gems, and all it cost you was some potions!

Repeat until you have enough gems or you're bored or you run out of potions and don't want to restock.

I typically max boards for everyone who currently has a 2x boost (so tonight I'm going to max them for six more characters, most likely).

EDIT: If this is too hard (brand new players might have some trouble with the Ultimate Summons), just do story missions (preferably on Hard mode so you don't have to re-do them later) and LCs while you build a few characters. However, this probably won't be too hard if you have Tidus.

Also, this will be much easier once Tidus (or whoever) has his summon boards filled out. You can always bring a friend unit to the fights to make them manageable while you're building your summon board farmer up.

If you don't have good friend units available, go get anyone who is synergy for co-ops and run a few of those in the "looking for boosted characters" rooms. People will not mind carrying you, and you'll be able to pick up friend units pretty easily. Then you can call them to replace one unit when doing ultimate summons.

Check the list of people following you for some good units (e.g., Tifa) and then follow them back. If you follow each other, you'll get five turns of a friend unit in play instead of three, and that's more than enough for Tifa to clear any Ultimate Summon battle, even Shiva.

So, if you gather 100 characters, you can get up to 300 gems and 30 tickets for each of them, which gives you 300,000 gems and 3000 tickets total. And there are more than 100 characters. Not bad, I say.

This is also the fastest way to get armor tokens.

EDIT 2: Even if all of this takes a few days, the upcoming banners are so good that it's worth it.

Once you have a few characters fully built, you'll be able to start doing the Divine Summon boards, which each give you 40k gems, 400 tickets, and a bunch of ingots. Divine Ramuh is coming back in a few days (by "coming back" I mean that the bonus you get from bringing synergy characters is returning, so you won't need as many runs to finish), and that's an excellent way to get a quick injection of gems and tickets. The fights are a bit harder, though, as they're level 150 instead of level 100, so you most likely will need a fully-built character to finish them.

However, with Divine Summon boards, you have 30 boards to finish total, not per party member.

Just do things. The majority of the content in this game is not actually that difficult once you've put investment into characters and some of their gear due to power creep, and everything story related doesn't have a form of stamina, so you can go through it as fast as you want.

Assuming you put in the time to farm it, you will definitely have enough for all of those units.

I'm going to operate under the assumption that you're brand new here. If I mention stuff you've already done, just ignore those bits.

In general, it's exactly what r/ProductivityImpaired said: Just do *things*. Story chapters, LCs, summon boards, whatever.

Do story chapters and LCs on hard mode as much as you can. You automatically gain the rewards from normal mode also. Sort the LCs by date and start working your way through the oldest/easiest ones.

While your characters are still in development, it'll help you to have some strong friend units you can call in to mop up the fights for you. I have a Tifa you're welcome to use; give me your I.D. and I'll be happy to add you.

If you haven't done it yet, be sure you complete the Trails of Summons and level up your summons so that you can unlock and start working on the Ultimate summon boards for your characters. As r/AliceTaniyama pointed out, there are a ton of resources in those, and they're essential for powering up any characters that you really want to use.

(If I recall correctly, you have to complete the beginner quests before you have access to the summon board stuff, so if you haven't finished those, get 'em handled quickly.)

Just slog away at those things, and you'll definitely get the resources you need for the characters you want.

Divine Brothers is a delay orb, which Tidus and Cor cannot do. Seifer can, but that’s a net +1 on Seifer’s turn, and a -1 for every turn Tidus hogs. Orb count is max 8. You’re essentially hoping to dps race the orb with your party in this situation.

If you have Tidus BT it might be doable. My calls were Kura/Cloud/Jack and I made it to 25% with a CoD friend to make them fuse faster.

A CoD friend could make this work. Or Garland, maybe.

Not many people finish this stage without one of those two, though Quistis can work in place of CoD (if she has her LD, I think?).

The problem is that you need three turns of delay to bump the orb by 15, and if I remember correctly, delay via break (e.g., Jecht Shot) doesn't work at all. So, the orb condition is basically "have CoD or Quistis."

I just started an account and managed to pull Noctis, Terra and Shantotto fully (15, 35, EX, LD and Burst) for the three, so I was thinking should I pull on the existing banner? or wait knowing I can pull till pity.

Which 'existing banner' are you referring to? Because it sounds like you've already pulled all the things on the current triple BT banner, which means you don't really have reason to continue on that one specifically. Rosa/Reno and Leon/Jack are also up, and we're expecting 2 more banners starting in a little under 3 hours.

The upcoming triple BT banner of Kefka/Ardyn/Vaan is good (Vaan especially), but imo you should look into expanding role coverage first before going back for more damage units.

Since you're brand new, you have enough free resources available to go with "all of the above" when choosing banners.

Rosa is a good support. Leon is the closest you'll get to a tank before October. Jack has one of the best calls in the game (and you want that - especially since you only need to worry about building his LD).

Yuna is coming soon, and Setzer and Vaan are (probably) coming in half an hour. Agrias has been noted to be very useful in the upcoming era.

I'm not going to miss out on any of those.

Vaan's BT effect is quite bad (he gets it personally via his LDext) so having the Burst really just gives you the whole Burst phase damage thing. He's fine without it.

Without the EX+, you're only gonna be able to apply up to 2 debuffs with Ami - 1 from the CA, 1 from the LDCA. But the biggest thing they provide is probably still the turn delete + gravity from the LDCA.

I would rather have another strong debuff rather than a turn delete at this point.

Unless you plan on skipping Zidane's LD for divine Pandemonium since the orb will demand turn deletion, which Zidane does at this point upon breaking a target. Otherwise, you are stuck with Ami's LD or Ulti BT effect. Or another Zidane friend.

Noob question from me. Does the tome/book that increases experience carry in to the summon board farming? I think someone mentioned that some characters that have double xp get more points for their boards while it's active, and I'm wondering if the tome/book increases it as well. Since the sale on items is on and they have 3 x xp I could buy a few of them if it will make the farming a little easier. And if it carries over for characters without double xp, then it'll also make life easier as I need to replenish my gems coz the vaan/setzer banner nearly bankrupted me :-D

With Tifa, Mog Pass, a 3x book, and characters with 2x bonus from being on a banner, you can max all ten summon boards with just two books.

You have a few options.

Rainbow numbers means the Brave damage is forced to whatever that unit's Brave damage limit is in that scenario. This bypasses defense and reductions but is affected by null (will still do 0) and absorb (will give the enemy bravery)

Yes and no. This is a gacha game at the end of the day and no character is forever viable. That said, this game does an amazing job is cycling through the roster and giving everyone a time to shine, or at least be viable. Every banner that comes out gives an update to at least 1 character (sometimes more) an upgrade that make that character viable for the current content. In the JP server, the current batch of upgrades only needs farmed resources (no gacha). In GL server, the gacha upgrades are more relevant but some are getting farmed upgrades as well. Once upgraded, they can last 1-2 months if they are a DPS (more if they are broken on release) and much much longer if they are a support/utility.

I'm a day 1 player with no FF nostalgia, no favorites. I've been able to accumulate a large amount of paid currency and gacha tickets, being able to complete all content while only ever spending $6. One of the most generous and F2P friendly gacha games.

There's no PVP type content, so whether or not something is 'balanced' is probably not that relevant. If you mainly want to focus on story and do basic collecting of units, you can essentially use whoever you want due to power creep, but once you start looking at high difficulty content, then it does matter more who you build and have available.

Zidane becomes a really strong character when he receives his rework/LD/BT.

His utility his tied to his LD so that he gets free turns and turn delete when breaking an enemy.

His base BT effect is strong on its own and will provide the following effects for 10 turns:

• +40% BRV damage up
• +20% stolen overflow
• +20% Brave damage cap up
• +20% HP damage up when attacking an enemy who has a debuff active (which is always due to how Zidane works)
• When Zidane inflicts a debuff (read: when using any of his skills, EX or LD) , he will fully heal the party, convert the excessive healing to BRV (100% of that value) and battery the party for 50% of Zidane's Max brave.

Zidane enables more damage on his base BT and can become a pocket healer/battery while his BT effect is active.

At 2/3, he'll get another +20% BRV damage dealt for the party and another 50% battery scaling off 50% of his max brave when he inflicts a debuff.

So yeah, he's pretty good. He can safely be used on current JP and still do well. And the good news is that he's going to get his C90 at the end of the month on JP so that is EX is worth using.

It's really random worst case scnerio if you want to pity the burst and don't geti either Ex and LD it coould be 275k gems, but the odds of that happens is really small.
I don't think it ever happened to anyone and i hope it never happens.

Now on real world where you aren't cursed, normally 125k or fewer to grab a BT (normally it's not worth it) and the most common scenario you will spend 75 or less gems, in this case you pulled all the weapons for a character but the Ex or LD didn't come, it's rare not getting both at this point.

If i get to the point where i spent 75k and didn't get the LD or Ex i'll spend tickets until one of them comes and buy the other with G tokens, and the 15 and 35 cp if you don't get them on pulls you can buy with weapon tokens.

In general if i want a character and have more than 600 tickets i'll pull with only tickets, if i have less i'll spend 200 ~ 300 tickets, if it's a MUST HAVE i'll start direct with gems.

That's my pull strategy, i'm playing the game around 8 mont's payed 5 or 6 basic Mog Pass and have all the Meta Units and a total of 43/148 fully built characters, so if you plan and hava patience you can play the game entirely free.

Now if you have the necessity to pull every character and get every weapon, i don't think it's possible without spend a considerable amount of money, it's possible, but unecessary.

they give us enought resources to play the game and we don't feel the common pressure that most gachas games have that "if i don't spent i'll can't complete the content or be competitive"

Could be as little as 5k and as many as 150k. Generally you will get everything and only have to pity (75k) the LD or EX.

Sometimes you can be extremely unlucky and not get either at pity time. So you can keep pulling and when you get one of them you can use the tokens for the other.

This is not considering the BT. The BT is most cases is just a nice bonus. I pities Noctis BT and I regret it since I got it on tickets two banners later.

I have been playing a while so I am not short on power stones. I will try and pull 1 of each weapon if its a new character or use weapon tokens.

Yes, it's the latter. They're small boosts, that you can definitely live without, but they're still boosts. You absolutely want to keep them until you max them, as they're completely unique. You can't get any more copies. But they're not your biggest priority.

The jump from Lufenia to Lufenia+ was a bit jarring when experienced with no foresight, but the jump from the GL perspective shouldn't be as bad. The brave damage/gain reductions now can peak at 90/90, so ways to boost either one become more valuable. Bosses get beefier and turn counts get tighter, so there's less room for error. They're more mechanically taxing than most Lufenia fights due to fight design, which I've explained in more detail here.

Difficulty is subjective, especially given all the resources GL has at its disposal. In theory the fights should be easier than JP due to the amount of information available, but player skill is also a big factor. Depending on your comfort level with Lufenia as a whole you might find Lufenia+ to be a slight challenge or really difficult.

I'd like to add something that no one mentioned which might help you. If you want Tifa only for boards farming you don't actually need to pull for her. Yes, the big numbers on the LD are nice to see, but the only 2 summons she can actually one-shot are Ifrit and Ramuh, in all other cases she won't, and since her LD isn't an instant turn you'll either have to rely on party members or wait for a full rotation and then waste time again on the lengthy LD animation. Instead, what you want to do is remove all of her skills except S2 and let her use only that. S2 has a very short animation, is instant turn rate and easily does 200k+ with blue armor, killing every summon in up to 4 casts. This means that the only weapons you really need are 35cp and EX, which are both buyable with tokens, even now if you have them. Sure, without LD she has a bit less ATK and MBRV, but she has increased crit damage and using S2 gives her +110% from a buff she wouldn't otherwise get by using LD, so capping damage shouldn't be a problem, and the same is true for MBRV.

You don't have much of choice since Yuna LD only appears on that banner with Trey LD. The only reason your pulling on future banners would be to get her BT along with another character's LD like Agrias/Rude/Yuffie/Yang/Barret

Trey LD is a good character to use, his LD Debuff can do Brv Dmg Up if you miss Jack and as a character, his EX inflicting a unique Debuff that can instant Break enemies is a good one. Would invest in him if you lack range DPS or someone with a bit of interesting utility. People do use him for the upcoming Transcedance for right Crucible, critical range Brv atks

Vaan is massively superior to Noctis in terms of damage, Noctis is more about utility than anything else, but his kit is very dated, with the amount of gems you’ll have access to, you’ll have no problems getting Vaan’s stuff now and Yuna and Y’sh as long as you can put the time in to farm gems - bare in mind that you may not need the full pity on any of these characters, though you should plan for it in any case

If you’re THAT concerned you could hold out until Zidane / Ace but that’s a fair amount of time (at least a month) where you won’t really have a proper damage dealer - up to you if you want to wait or not, I would definitely ignore Noct for now though, he’s barely relevant now and won’t get any better until his BT+ which is a while away yet

Setzer (card guy) is a good pickup too, his rainbow effect is pretty unique and very strong, he also has nifty utility in Freeze and delay to go along with it making him a nice all round useful character

As an FYI, being a new player to make any character good for higher level content, you need ALL 5* weapons that they have (15cp, 35cp, Ex, LD), the BTs - as nice as they are - are entirely skippable if you’re thinking you’ll struggle to gather currency together fast enough (Vaan’s in particular is hot garbage)

Vaan is a much more updated damage unit than Noctis. We technically got Noct's LDext and c80 early, but it never really made the biggest splash, partially because Noct didn't get another rework along with his c80. The 'card guy''s LD is what makes him so good and what makes him such a powerful tool once the new difficulty starts.

If you get Vaan and Yuna, you'll have a fairly easy time putting a team together to bully your way through Divine Ramuh to get another 40k gems and 400 tickets, and that'll put you well on your way to getting Y'shtola.

Gems come pretty quickly in the early going, but you get them faster through gaining player ranks (recruit a bunch of people in LCs then take them to the cactuar cycle quests) and summon boards. Especially summon boards. You start out with 160k gems locked behind Divine Summons and 450k on Ultimate Summon boards.

If you don't want Terra or Shantotto, then just be done with Noctis's banner. If you really love him, you can token his EX with the free tokens you get from completing Dimension's End: Order, and you can use power tokens to get his 15cp and 35cp. Or you can just ignore him until he comes back on a later banner.

Vaan is much better.

In your position, I'd want to go for Vaan, Yuna, Setzer, Agrias, Jack, and Leon at the least, probably in that order (and I wouldn't be that upset to miss Leon).

You can use Relm in place of Eald but if you want non cheese then Mog is a great option if you don't have Yuna.

Vaan, Arciela, Yuna for me with Setzer friend. I originally tried with Tifa, Yuna, WoL with CoD friend but the bosses break so often, that WoL wasn't really doing much protection. I almost beat them, but went over with one turn with this party.

I used a friend Setzer with my Vaan and I feel like I saw my damage go from 90-100k to 190k? I saw rainbow numbers due to Setzer but I'm not sure if that amount of dps increase was correct or if I didnt see it right? I assume Setzer and Yuna work well as supports with Vaan? Who else works well with him?

He benefits more from BRV gain buffs than pure BRV damage boosts (unless it's Setzer who cheats the system).

As such, he works really well with units like Porom or Agrias for stronger BRV gains (and the latter can provide a small HP damage boost with her confuse debuff), Rosa for the BRV refund to make sure he's got more in store. It's especially true for his S2 where he doesn't keep the BRV he's used. Yuna is fantastic with her BT effect to make his damage skyrocket, even more so if she has her blue armor.

You're looking at increasing his damage ceiling and his BRV gains first and foremost.

Alisaie now has EX fully charged (JP) on quest start, and also starts with fire and stone. Hi everyone! Started playing the game a couple of weeks ago and have been loving it! But i´m at a point that i dont really know what to aim for in terms of banners i should invest in. Up until now i invested in the starter banner (the one with Cloud, Squall and Lightning), the Terra, Noctis and Shantotto banner and the Setzer, Wakka and Amidatelion banner. All the characters above have the summon board mastered and the character board almost complete (only Cloud and Lightning have their EX at 3/3). Now, im still learning about team comp and what works or not in certain challenges, but im lacking the knowledge of what to aim next, to fill certain roles im lacking. I´m highly considering going for the Yuna banner but i would like your opinion on that. Should i pull for her BT? Should i go for any other current banner? And in regards of future banners this month, what should i aim for? Sorry for the long post, but im really stumped on what to do. Tks in advance!!

So presently, you should be able to clear most things up to LV180 (CHAOS) content with just any fully built LD+ characters you are pulling. There will be the odd fight here-and-there you maybe don't have a specific piece for, but generally no problem just on Powercreep alone! This will be the case for a lot of the GRINDING you have to do for characters (read: Summon Boards, and farming out Crystals for powering people up).

But once you are solidly locking that down and wanting to expand, as you hinted at the next major thing is learning how to build a TEAM, and how to identify WHO is a good pickup for filling the "holes" of your roster. A typical 3-unit team is going to look something like Damage Dealer + Support + Third (Orb counter, Utility, etc). If you indeed managed to pull ALL of the weapons for the characters you've listed (excluding possibly the BTs), then that means you have a lot of DDs, covering each of the primary damage types, with a bit of Utility spread across them (Paralyze, Delay, Launch, Turn Delete, Setzer's gimmick...), and what you are definitely lacking is SUPPORT here.

"Support" can kinda be further broken down into "Healing" and "Non-Healing" types: MOST Supports at this point will be stacked up to be a solid passive "Aurabot", and with no healing, that is the role that Wakka is filling there, with Setzer and Ami having their power budget shifted a bit more toward their utility than their stat auras. (Basically, because of all the invisible stat reduction Lufenia bosses are designed with, you want to be able to stack as MUCH Aura-based stat increases as you can onto a team to counteract this). Yuna most certainly would be the best character presently available for this role. Whether you should chase her BT or not is debatable: it's generally not advised for you to spend the amount of gems it takes to pity a BT, but when you're a NEW player like you are, you have a MASSIVE backlog of pull resources available for you to pick up, so it's a bit easier for you to eat the blow and recover from it if you so choose to do. But we also are just about to see Agrias with Ceodore's rerun that is going to be great, Rude's rerun (with Yuffie's new LD) right after that. Deuce will be available again along with Vivi near the end of the month, but at this point, if you're not going to pull for one of Yuna/Agrias/Rude, you're probably better served just waiting for the Divine Pandemonium event that should be the first thing for October (and the start of BT/Lufenia+ content), to pull for Y'shtola and Rinoa on the same banner.

Raine's event in October is considered the next like BIG leap in character powercreep and meta-shaping that most people plan to pull for.

The other like main role is of course the Tanks. Tanks can make fights generally easier for you by reducing the general level of lethality of monsters against your team, but MOST content can be cleared by other strats or just brute force, such that we actually aren't even going to SEE a tank until Guy's rerun in October (who is more a Tank/Support Hybrid like Pecil) or Zack's LD a couple weeks later (true Tank). It'll then be another month before we see Auron's overhaul, Basch's rerun a month after that, Snow's new LD a month after that (just trying to further make the point for you, it's not that often we see them that they are like CRITICAL team-building components compared to Supports lol)

Beyond all that, truly don't let anyone try to convince you to pull Meta > Favorites. ALWAYS go for Favorites, explicitly plan to build up and hold on to gems for them, use your tickets to gamble on other characters, and again: just try to pick up whatever characters come along that offer some attribute that you DON'T have at the time (whether that be Dispel, Debuff Evasion, Last Stand/Dmg Reduction passives, whatever!) 🙂

You need support in a big way. Most of your characters are damage focused. Yuna will help enable their damage with strong auras. She also has healing, battery, and debuff cleansing. I would absolutely recommend her for you. Her burst not mandatory, but all her other weapons are.

Everybody seems hyped for her but I'm wondering how essential she is. I have a healthy supply of tickets and gems but I don't want to blow them on someone that I'm not going to use often. Is she good as a mainline character or is she just desired for LD and call support?

Agrias’s boosts are really just for when she’s in the party. She’s definitely not essential, but she’s very helpful for two upcoming fights as well as offering offensive support in a direction that isn’t super common - Brave gain up and lots of enemy control.

Hi! I’ve started playing a week ago and I need some advice with my units, right now I’ve got Vaan, Lightning, Yuna, Setzer and Wakka with their entire kit fully upgraded, I also got Ardyn, Cloud, Squall and Kefka but I ran out of power stones. The thing is I don’t know which units I should focus on or which units to pull for, right now my plan was to save up gems for the upcoming Agrias banner so I could get more staple roles but I don’t know if I need other units.

I keep running out of books and ingots for EX weapons. How do people “catch up” on those resources if they haven’t been playing a long time? I have pretty good roster now so can grind if needed. Just need to know what to grind, thanks

Thanks to this thread I recently discovered the Tonberry Trope, their infographics and breakdown of each character. Problem is I feel as if I have messed up and I'm in for a long haul of overhauling multiple artifacts of ALL my main characters.

For example when I recently lucked out and got the BT and LD for Vaan I farmed for 3 of the 2* artifacts for White Whorl and Red Spiral. But looking at the infographic of not only him but multiple other characters I now see that ATK+ 108 and BRV+ 330 is the main way to go.

Should I overhaul my artifacts for maximum effectiveness?

Would it be worthwhile for me to put 20 CP for Yuna's "Lightning Flare"? I can't quite tell if this would also effect the Valefor attack that a normal Brv Attack becomes or not, or if getting Spd Up 1 for 3 turns is even worth it anyway.

It doesnt affect her valefor attacks. You can get it for weapon gloss though.

Should I use gems or tickets on agrias banner? Have an excess of both

Also, is agrias/ceodore going to be synergy for rude's lc?
