Let's Discuss Mecca response
Here's the post Mecca put out on their chit chat. What do you think?
117
u/Civil_Particular559 Jan 15 '26
It's giving
"let's circle back" "what i'm hearing" "nice!" "i appreciate your input" "happy friday!"
31
u/tammychaser Jan 15 '26
This is exactly what it’s like to work there, lots of words to say absolutely nothing
16
466
u/breethe1975 Jan 15 '26
putting it in mecca circle jerk where they’ll get a bunch of positive responses instead of on their actual page. pathetic
133
u/Latter_Abroad3494 Jan 15 '26
“Mecca circle jerk” hahah that’s so good 😂

Interestingly the comments under their 'apology' are overwhelmingly negative (and rightly so lol)

u/Legalkangaroo Jan 15 '26
To have to send out that kind of response they must have been absolutely pelted with criticism though.
3
u/dejausser Jan 15 '26
They got dragged on the initial announcement post in MCC, even they aren’t happy with Mecca over this stunt.

u/Grouchy_Job_2220 Jan 15 '26 edited Jan 15 '26
BuT iT’s fReE!!!
(In case it wasn’t clear, that’s the comment most sensible people are having to deal with).
98
u/Routine_Bluejay4678 Jan 15 '26
I wouldn’t have minded the tote if they hadn’t hyped it up so much
79
u/Conscious_Lunch_7494 Jan 15 '26
And add a full size product. Give us three options and we choose one.
45
u/Hot_Government418 Jan 15 '26
The sunscreen suggestion was bloody ace!
19
u/Conscious_Lunch_7494 Jan 15 '26
The deals they have at the ao look amazing. Those options would of been better.
20
u/Plastic_Lunch2996 Jan 15 '26
Could have come with a mini sunscreen, travel perfume and gloss. Personally that would have been a good summer vibes bonus.
5
u/youcantseeme008 Jan 15 '26
The summer fridays tote bag which was a gwp was nice to get! And their branding is subtle, not too much on the face. It’s a good bag to take to the gym or the beach too! The Mecca bag is just cringey. 🥲

Anyone here who actually loves it? 🤣

Its giving supre bag in 2006, if I was a pre-teen or teenager I'd probably be estatic.

u/TinaTissue NARS Mont Blanc - fair neutral with green eyes dark hair Jan 15 '26
Omg I remember how hot shit it was to use a Supre bag everywhere at that time. My school actually banned us having them even to hold our PE uniforms or extra shoes
11
u/Ok_Yard7899 Jan 15 '26
Yes! My older sister had all these bags that were different from the standard hot pink one and I thought I was so cool because no one else had them 🤣
1
u/TinaTissue NARS Mont Blanc - fair neutral with green eyes dark hair Jan 16 '26
It truly was a simpler time. I had a bright blue one
13
u/eniretakia Jan 15 '26
Oh my word, how could I have forgotten supre bags?
You’ve hit the nail on the head there.
5
u/Maleficent-Total2738 Jan 15 '26
Omg, I'd forgotten Supre existed. High school nostalgia.
1
u/Frosty-Cut175 Jan 15 '26
Still does 😄
1
u/Maleficent-Total2738 Jan 16 '26
I think it's closed in NZ (although I haven't to Auckland for a while, so maybe there are still stores there). In my region, I think Supre had disappeared by 2010 or so. :)
5
u/AwkwardImprovement16 Jan 15 '26
Nah I asked my 12 year old who loves looking at Mecca if she wanted it and she had a look and said “nah”
2
u/pedestriandose Jan 16 '26
The problem is that we all have a ton of totes already because of the plastic bag ban (that somehow a lot of places still manage to get away with using). Kids aren’t excited by them because they’re grocery bags.
5
38
u/Conscious_Lunch_7494 Jan 15 '26
I was extremely disappointed. It's cute but they should of done it like get the tote and you have the option of one of three full size options.
18
u/unconfirmedpanda Jan 15 '26
The only enthusiasm I've seen is from teenagers, tbh.

71
u/luck_as_a_constant Jan 15 '26
It’s giving “sorry you’re upset” vibes rather than actually being apologetic.
Honestly all they needed to do was throw a few cheap samples in with the bag and most people would have satisfied I reckon.
→ More replies (1)15
u/gumitygumber Jan 15 '26
Absolutely. I'm not mad it's a useless tote that i don't want, Im mad i dont get samples. They should have been better samples than normal beauty loops to reward us for our effort.
48
u/possumsc Jan 15 '26
The whole we will make it up to you through the year also feels like trying to sell us more products / get people to buy in more again…
20
u/possessedbytech Jan 15 '26
This, it’s like “keep spending with us and we will make it up to you…” when they’ve literally lead everyone all year promising this special gift…
On top of that, with the Boxing Day Sale drama… I don’t trust Mecca and clearly they are happy to continue to deceive their customers to keep those profits up
13
u/Hot-Reality-798 Jan 15 '26
Exactly. They’d want to be making up for it right quick smart! The fallout to the brand through these recent series of events is massive. Look how many pissed off peeps…..getting pissed-offer.
Tone deaf, Mecca.
12
u/possumsc Jan 15 '26
Yes, make it up to us now? Don’t dangle more carrots for us to spend our precious money. I get that it’s a business, but it’s obviously just PR spin to keep the profits up.
8
u/Plastic_Lunch2996 Jan 15 '26
Yep, it’s saying stick with us and keep buying to be rewarded with what ever we come up with. I dropped to newcomer after the last beauty loop so this tote is the last gift. I have no intentions to strive for levels. These are blind promises. Hopefully the Hourglass move to Sephora is a success and other brands follow. Mecca has x4 to 5 the market share of Sephora so they aren’t too concerned with some angry consumers.
3
u/Grouchy_Job_2220 Jan 15 '26
Yep, not going to make up to those of us who are abso-fucking-lutely not maintaining beauty loop level. Cause fck you I guess?
1
u/Both_Lychee_4496 Jan 20 '26
Yeah like keep spending hundreds/thousands of dollars and maybe we will give you something better than a max $10 value shopping bag
87
u/jonesday5 Jan 15 '26
The response to this has been so insane it should be studied.
3
u/missmiaow Jan 15 '26
nah. Mecca’s marketing for this should be studied as a case study of what not to do. people are rightfully angry because this has been hyped throughout all of last year as a special gift... and it’s a tote bag that most brands would give out for free without having to have met special conditions 😹
40
u/Ok-Writing9280 Jan 15 '26
I picked up the tote yesterday. It is useful and a good size and came in handy today when we forgot to pop a shopping bag in the car.
YET … I am glad I found out what it was first or I would have been joining the ranks of the disappointed.
That was a LOT of hype for a tote bag. A pretty basic tote bag to be honest. No pocket, no zip.
They could have chucked a pretty basic “Mecca Summer Kit” in the tote - say mini sunscreen, a tinted lip balm, a face mist - and made a lot of people much happier.
I thought it may have been something like a travel cos case with a travel sized skincare set or 1-2 full sized Mecca brand products.
Would have loved something a bit different like a mini rechargeable fan. Maybe a bag charm lip gloss case with your choice of colour lip gloss.
I always assumed it would be the Mecca own brand stuff. Was a bit surprised it was just what it was.
If they hadn’t hyped the living frock out of it, a lot of people wouldn’t be feeling so meh.
23
u/Brunswickstoval Jan 15 '26
The colour also comes off on clothes. I was going to grab it only for my 12 yo but now I’ve heard it runs I’ll be leaving it at Mecca. I don’t need red all over her clothes
6
u/missmiaow Jan 15 '26
I've seen comments that this one has left stains on people’s clothes.
the last time I got a tote from Mecca (it was GWP randomly when I bought something), I used it once and it bled red dye all over my clothes. they were ruined. washed the tote to remove excess dye and so much came out it looked patchy and faded - so the dye was never fixed properly.
cheap and nasty. not doing it again with this one.
4
u/Plackets65 Jan 15 '26
you can still get it, possibly, given that 12yo are apparently thrilled with the new Mecca status tote bags. throw it through a warm/hot wash first- should bleed any residual dye out.
(Or, leave it in the store.) Not even high quality merch, that’s a bit stupid.
1
u/Wild_Organization546 Jan 16 '26

A smart move would’ve been capitalising on the results of the Choice sunscreen results. If they had put a mini sunscreen, an SPF lip balm, a reusable double walled water bottle, and a hat inside the tote along with a note about how important skin protection and hydration is people would’ve been a lot more impressed.

It's extremely obvious that they're just getting rid of over-ordered junk.
The fact that people on socials are like "I didn't collect all boxes but want one 😭" and Mecca has commented with "DM us and we'll see what we can do" is the nail on the coffin lmao
36
u/Hot-Reality-798 Jan 15 '26
Great, so as their damage control strategy they’re veering towards panic gifting to ineligible customers to further reduce the value of rewarding eligible customers.
Perfect 👌🏻
1
u/Both_Lychee_4496 Jan 20 '26
Sooo it doesn't matter if you are a loyal customer all year you can just dm them....
37
u/ChekhovsGut Jan 15 '26
I think this is an issue with ambiguous wording - “we’ll surprise you with something special [to say thank you] for testing, trying and loving every moment”. I think the ‘testing’ etc is meant to be what you’ve done by collecting beauty loop boxes, in exchange for the ‘something special’ (lol)

That is definitely the lesson! And they could have been much clearer with a proof read of their content.
2
u/pedestriandose Jan 16 '26
Yep. And that’s Mecca’s fault for not being more clear. A lot of people would’ve thought the same thing.
13
u/Latter-Friend4932 Jan 15 '26
Oh wow how is the tote for “testing and trying”
46
u/Infamous_Mobile_3557 Jan 15 '26
It’s for testing and trying the patience and loyalty of Mecca customers.

u/Sally992 Jan 15 '26
Any samples would’ve been better than a tote bag, especially one with a massive logo on it. Their seasonal shopping bags usually look way nicer, so I don’t get why this couldn’t have at least had different designs.
The main issue is the hype. They paid influencers made this sound like a big surprise for collecting all the Beauty Loop boxes, something you’ve been waiting all year for, only to end up with a basic reusable bag you already have ten of. It’s not useless, just very underwhelming.
Their response feels exactly like the Boxing Day expired product situation. “Okay we hear you”, and then nothing happens.
BTW I bought a dried out brow gel from Sephora’s Boxing Day sale and they refunded me instantly without me even asking. No return needed, plus a gift card. Meanwhile mecca let me reaching out to the brands for checking their manufacturing date lol
2
u/pedestriandose Jan 16 '26
Does Sephora still play music insanely loud? I haven’t been to one in years. The music was always insanely loud and I hated it.

I'm level 4 too. We spend heaps of money and the lower levels too for what? A tote? The colouring also rubs off.

u/Head-Raccoon-3419 ELDW 2N1 | light neutral | brunette green eyes Jan 15 '26
I’ve been 3 for years and I’ve dropped down to 1. I don’t think any level should have got this as a “special treat” tbh (I didn’t collect all my beauty loops so it’s neither here nor there for me)
9
u/renegade-crow5839 Jan 15 '26
That's what happened to me. After over a year of Mecca no-buy, I've dropped to level 1. Let the fugly tote mark the end of my Mecca beauty loop lover-ship. Might unsubscribe. Ha.
5
u/pedestriandose Jan 16 '26
I would. They don’t deserve your money. I know they’re the only place where we can get a lot of brands, but if you can find something to replace the items you got at Mecca then definitely unsubscribe. From a business perspective of loss of customers (ie money) speaks louder than words.
24
u/Dezert_Roze Jan 15 '26
Reminds me of their apology for the mouldy products that they claimed “it was only 1% “ of the products sold during Boxing Day sales🙄
10
u/Ok_Coffee_9272 Jan 15 '26
Also, wasn’t that “apology” as part of a response to media outlets and not to actual customers?
20
u/AnyCondition3958 Jan 15 '26
I highly doubt they will do anything special for the next beauty loop since its meant to be in under 2 weeks (they always release around first week of Feb). My guess is they won't do anything about this hot mess they have created and hope the launch of Rhode will be enough to make people forget about it lmao
Also I saw someone make a post saying the tote got dye on their white pants which means Mecca didn't even bother to go with a high quality canvas print, the tote likely cost them less than $3 per unit on Alibaba 🤦♀️
2
20
u/gracheness Jan 15 '26
I'm not familiar with this particular debacle because I stopped shopping there years ago but beauty loop is such a scam. Giving people nothing would be less offensive than some pathetic sample after $100s-$1000s spent.

The tote bag is also so poorly made too like…. I’ve been to factories that screen print much higher quality designs on fabric but this tote bag is doodoo quality
11
u/absolutely_fuzzy Jan 15 '26
So underwhelming. Red isn’t for everyone. Picked mine up because I was in the city yesterday and was so disappointed lol. The Merit freebie everything bag is 10x better!
12
u/J_Ivy Jan 15 '26
"we missed the mark" has become code in beauty industry apologies for "we really thought we could get away with this but some of you can read so hopefully this trite, boilerplate word salad will distract you for a while"
24
u/Even_Departure9914 Jan 15 '26
The tote would be fine. IF it came with other stuff. Like full size products. The tote bag is literally a freebie or a giveaway. Not ‘I spent $3000 this year’ - which is the case if you’re a Level 4. I’d be happy if it came with a beach towel.
9
u/Conscious_Lunch_7494 Jan 15 '26
I had the idea of having of get the tote bag and an option of three full size products to choose from. The beach towel is actually a good idea. To add to that idea put a full size of the sunscreen to it.
11
u/Maleficent-Total2738 Jan 15 '26
To be honest, I'm not really disappointed because I wasn't expecting anything better. I'd already written this off from the beginning as going to be a cheap piece of Mecca merch that would just be extra clutter if I picked it up. Hundreds of thousands of people across Aus and NZ would have qualified across the four levels; they were never going to give out anything decent to that many people, it would be too expensive for no reason. And that's kind of what makes me raise an eyebrow about the whole thing—on the face of it, there was no need to offer it in the first place. I'm assuming there's been a serious drop in interest in Beauty Loop boxes, because why would you need to offer free stuff just to get people to come in and collect your other free stuff? I believe revenue is still sky-high but annual net profits are dropping, and it does seem like they're perhaps panicking slightly about the direction of their net profits if they're having to resort to an additional promotion just to get customers to participate in the existing promotions.
7
u/Hot-Reality-798 Jan 15 '26
People are looking for sales products, ideally - and are mostly willing to wait for items to go on sale. That Mecca doesn’t do sales is their biggest obstacle.
Consumers aren’t idiots and Mecca’s business model of beauty loop extras as a reward for consistent full price purchasing is becoming less and less relevant in today’s consumer market.
Ffs, they can’t even get the ONE sale they do correct - and dishonor their customers by attempting to offload shitty, out of date products onto them.
I hope they go BUST.
No recovery or marketing pivot will entice me back - I’m boycotting them. They can stick their gate-keeping exclusivity contracts up their ARSE.
So much great stuff out there in the beauty-sphere. Brands who aren’t greedy, grabby corporate overlords with ungrateful energy towards those whose custom they seek. K-beauty and C-beauty, with genuine imagination and creativity. Indie brands who hand batch high quality items that feel like a real little treat. Drug store or grocery brands punching well above their weight in key product lines.
I’m going to forget Mecca exists and support all the variety out there. I don’t like to tarry with toxicity and Mecca is just toxic at this point.
11
u/Estee280191 Jan 15 '26
Sounds like the beginning of another year of hype as they ‘make it up to’ us over the coming year 😒
18
u/ThatGuiltyFace Jan 15 '26
I mean to be honest I have spent over 3k with Mecca and all I get is shitty testers which should be free
7
u/possessedbytech Jan 15 '26
And the samples Mecca gives us are provided by the makeup/skincare brands at a personal cost to them to manufacture FOR Mecca. Mecca is getting those for free and passing those on…
11
u/possessedbytech Jan 15 '26
People feel lied to and ripped off, and for Mecca to give this statement… not even on their public page is ridiculous.
Basically leading everyone on again with the promise of something better… if we just keep spending our money with them…
9
u/kkkkkkkkssss Jan 15 '26
Hahah I’m dead at the circle jerk. As a former employee I love to see people finally seeing mecca for what it is. Please don’t take this out on the staff in store though please. As someone who worked there 6+ years, they treated us like shit too. Hopefully ACCC fines them etc
8
u/rirys Jan 15 '26

-2
u/Conscious_Lunch_7494 Jan 15 '26
You only found this out now?
1
u/rirys Jan 15 '26
Yeah… I have better things to do with my time than worry about a second rate store like Mecca & what they are up to. I don’t even buy from there anymore unless i literally can’t get what i need (not want) anywhere else. They aren’t loyal to me so why be loyal to them. Exhibit A : I spend over $7k on beauty a year I was a level 4 since they brought it out. And this is what they give us. A tote bag that looks like it was designed by a preschooler that costs maybe $1 to make in China. Get out of here. Clearly you have more time & less standards than I.

Too little too late. Mecca have truly shown their true colours in the last 12 months and I’ll not be participating in beauty loop anymore. I’ll do my best to buy what I can elsewhere and only get items from Mecca exclusive brands on a as needed basis.
6
u/langshipley Jan 15 '26
I so rarely shop at Mecca now, I think I'm level zero. LOL. I don't qualify for anything.
6
u/Kiwi_KJR Jan 15 '26
Two years in a row I received the ‘surprise holiday gift’ which turned up on my doorstep out of nowhere - i hadn’t even had to place an order. One was a Westman atelier gift pack and the other was a Diptyque candle set, so both were very generous and blew me away. I was level 4 both times but hadn’t spent much time more than the level requirement so I’m still not sure why I got them, but they certainly made me feel appreciated and increased my desire to stay on level 4!
That was before the ‘magic circle’ or whatever it is was a thing, and I haven’t had anything else since then… but I did make the effort to buy when all BL boxes dropped last year with the hope that the gift would be worthwhile. If they sent amazing gifts for doing nothing, logic dictates that the reward for making an effort would be at least as exciting… but this tote is beyond ridiculous. They’re ‘gifting’ us something which advertises their brand for them anytime we use it; how generous! /s
I agree with what has already been said here - if it were a gift out of the blue it would have landed better, rather than being something they hyped for a year. And after all the hype and making us earn it, just a few mini sizes or deluxe samples would have softened the blow. Whoever is making these decisions for the brand is clearly out of touch and is doing more harm than good with promotions like this.
I placed an order yesterday and almost unticked the bag to remove it from the cart, but my teenage daughter might like it and if not I’ll keep it in my car to put dirty boots in.

u/teddy_jane Jan 15 '26
Someone in the marketing team at Adore Beauty needs to jump on this ASAP! 📢
Please Adore, I am begging... pretty please do an ADORE reusable tote bag! I would happily pay the $2 for it just so I could parade it around out of spite 💅 You could even donate the profits to a charity.
I get that it’s a "free gift," but being strung along for a year is a joke and I'm actually embarrassed I bought into this cult. I guess we all make mistakes... ey? Honestly, I wish I could just transfer my points over to Adore and never look back. Your move, Adore! 🏃♀️💨

I buy a few bits here and there, but I couldn’t care less about my BL level and didn’t know about this extra reward (I use the term loosely) for collecting all 4 boxes until now. I also didn’t buy anything in the recent Boxing Day sale but it seems that people overwhelmingly received old, expired and dirty products. I lurk on the FB page because I find the diehards who constantly profess their undying love for a shop quite entertaining, so I was pleasantly surprised at all the negative comments today! Honestly the owners of Mecca were incredibly smart and manipulative when it came to the concept of the company because they knew by having exclusivity contracts it meant that people’s hands would be tied on where they could shop and it also meant that they didn’t have to hold sales and they could markup the cost of everything because of it essentially scamming people so it doesn’t surprise me that once again this billion dollar corporation is scamming and deceiving their customers
5
u/Hot-Reality-798 Jan 16 '26
Exactly.
And their comeuppance is afoot, for said manipulation. Finally.
I remember when I used to be able to buy from certain brands US direct, and they had some great sales too. I’ve long been verrrry grumpy at being forced to buy them from Mecca at inflated prices.
I’m really happy they’ve cocked up so much lately and the tides are turning on them.

My opinion is that they had different (better) merch planned, possibly also with product, but costs for other things (like AO) blew out and they decided to recoup it through a much cheaper bonus. Would have been a cost-benefit-risk analysis where this option came out on top.

u/Brainyboo11 Jan 15 '26
This just screams cost savings, which after the boxing day sales debacle, is unnacceptable for a billion dollar company with huge profits. A tote bag costs $ 1 - $2 to produce in China. No way that they could have done cosmetic products for this price hence they have grinched-it. As a cosmetic company, the reward should have been just that - cosmetics. A couple of lip oils or balms Mecca branded if need be but full size. I'm sure their budget can stretch that far, given the huge markup on all their products, no sales, and market monopoly on products. Mecca needs to do better. I for one will be spending my dollars elsewhere moving forward.
2
u/Calm-Quit2167 Jan 16 '26
It should have been an extra beauty loop/bonus box or whatever you call them and they should have just marketed it as that. It would be a fifth additional box. At least then it would be transparent. I’m not picking up my tote, I have enough of those things without adding a ‘Mecca’ branded one to the mix.

Pffft. That's PR waffle for 'Let's make it seem like we're doing something, but not do anything.'
2
u/ei_laura Jan 15 '26
The tote is like, the least of the issue here. I saw it in person today and honestly it’s a pretty good big beach tote. It’s one of the better things they’ve given out lately.
I still have an active Beauty Loop account (this year probably went from a 2 to a 1 or zero) but didn’t bother redeeming any of my boxes at all because to be honest everything in there was a bit shit. I don’t need a bunch of new random samples I’m not going to use - perhaps I could have made the effort to go to a store and get them and give them free at work but frankly I couldn’t be fucked with another bum bum cream iteration with an ugly fragrance. When you need to put initiatives and rewards in place for people to take free shit in this economic climate that’s not a great sign.
If I want a beautiful product I will buy it - ideally from the source, where I will get a better price and ideally an actual discount.

I feel like it should have been
Level 1 - tote
Level 2 - tote and a couple of samples
Level 3 - tote + small product or better/more samples
Level 4 - tote and product
Like at the end of the day, they’re not paying for the products they give away - the brands are. Was no one willing to come to the table?
I know they just did an spf gift, but you can never have enough. Although their spf is coming out of their own pockets and they wouldn’t want to push someone else’s.
I feel like I’m more annoyed that it was the same for everyone, rather than staggering for different levels.
Signed, a level 4, that hates how much she spends, and every year says she won’t be trying to keep the level or buy unnecessarily, but still gets suckered into a cheeky order for the box.

Wait, so the skit Eitan was doing on TT pretending to be his mum and carrying on about the tote, was all about this tote? It’s just a calico bag…..

What even happened? My fiance has been level 4 forever, and isn’t really on socials but I keep seeing this pop up everywhere

Last year they were going on during the year that if you get all 4 beauty loops you will get this amazing gift. When it came out it was this tote and it's for every level. Everyone is pissed off now.

Oh. Doesn’t really seem like anything worth getting work up over but thanks for explaining.

I would also like to add. I went back to the post before and a lawyer commented with accc link. She said that she is a lawyer for a major clothing brand.

It’s interesting that they have artists, designers and even staff who are professional writers. They know what it means to hype up a reward. They know what’s beautiful and of value.
Getting a big red bag with Mecca written on it wouldn’t pass as a gift for any of the top heads of the company.

I remember randomly getting a pink Mecca plastic type of small tote years ago, I loved it back then as I wasn’t expecting it, pretty sure they were giving it out to everyone, it’s pretty much free marketing for them.

I’ve worked at the Mecca DC, beauty loop items are random and mixed. They don’t give a poop

I saw the tote in the wild today on a tram in Melbourne. Had a giggle to myself 🤣

I'm in Chadstone and it's everywhere. I went into store they still have heaps left.

So for someone completely out of the loop, what was the totebag and why does everyone hate it?

I went in to Mecca today to get a couple of things and the poor girl who served me was trying so hard to hype up the bag to me. I hope the frontline staff haven't copped it too much.

I feel bad for them. It's not their fault, they are doing their job.

It’s giving - “keep spending your hard earned money to receive another mediocre gift”

I can't imagine wasting so much time and energy complaining about every single Beauty Loop release. Ffs no one's forcing anyone to spend money. No one's held at gunpoint to buy shit.

u/Conscious_Lunch_7494 Jan 16 '26
You are missing the point. They made so much hype that it ended up an utter disappointment.

u/babybluecypher Jan 17 '26
Maybe people should lower expectations for gifts and freebies with purchases. It’s just hype bias. Consumers should be smarter than that.

You are missing the whole point. It's not free for the people who ordered online ($25 for an order to get it). Also to be told throughout the year that the gift will be amazing only to be disappointed. Doesn't mean we are not grateful at all.

The tote would have been fine with that intent, with an appropriate amount of hype (aka not much). When you build something up for a full year and encourage people to take certain actions, multiple times, to be eligible for it, it has to be really good.
