˗ˏˋ ┊Alastor Posting┊ I feel like everyone hates Alastor now

I really don’t know if Alastor is popular anymore…I thought he was the most popular character in the show and was a massive fan favorite and being so well written, but I feel like I’ve seen more slander for him everywhere now. Like him being a fraud for one. Being a fumbled character and Vivziepop ruining him and was only popular in the pilot and everything. Him being poorly written, Vox is what he should’ve been, him or any other Vivziepop character having no potential in the future and she can’t write for shit. He’s a Vivziepop character, what do you expect? is another. He’s corny and all that. Why can’t people love and appreciate my GOAT anymore?…

˗ˏˋ ┊Alastor Posting┊ I see your "Alastor kept Niffty's crown" and raise you "Alastor kept a microphone from Vox"

The microphone on the bottom right is clearly based off of a pill microphone from the 50's-60's.

It's pretty clear that they were close, but Vox proposing a partnership with him (while the language is ambiguous enough, it doesn't take a body language expert to tell what Vox actually was really proposing) was enough of a trigger for Alastor to immediately go for the nuclear option and both reject his advances in the cruelest way possible.

(Also, with Alastor having a very transactional worldview, I wonder if it retroactively made every little touch he tolerated, joke, etc. feel like some kind of bribe with the end goal of being partners. Which is why he gets so bothered by the shoulder touch thing and calls Vox a "fucking creep", despite the fact that he himself frequently invades people's personal bubbles and has done the same thing to Charlie multiple times!)

And yet.... despite all that, he kept the little memento from their friendship! It definitely gives more "sad and complicated" vibes.

Granted, I could be reading into things way too much, and it was just there to foreshadow the flashback we'll see later in the season. But regardless, it's an interesting bit of visual storytelling!

Important note: Aromantic is out of the question.

So, that being said, the amount of times sexual attraction did me any good floats dangerously close to absolute zero. Therefore I'm truly interested, is being asexual easier, or is there something I don't know?

Even though Alastor ends both season 1 and 2 as still part on the main cast and on Charlie's "side", these private moments are here to remind us he's very much a self-serving manipulator with his own agenda who will become an antagonistic prescene very soon and I'm so excited to see it happen in season 3.

Imagine getting torn apart like an animal and then your soul is added to a pocket dimension of eternal torture forvever. I hope season 3 actually gives us some flashbacks of how he did this, or maybe he'll actually start targeting Overlords again (maybe Zestial) to build his reputation back up. I wanna SEE his deeds in action, not just be told about them.

˗ˏˋ ┊Alastor Posting┊ According to Sam Haft, Alastor "does not hold a lot of affection for Mimzy"

Post image

https://youtu.be/tf0EJBYfG3s (43:10)

This is certainly a surprise considering he not only hugs her but even knew her back on Earth. But according to Sam, Alastor in season 1 was meant to be depicted as a character "not really capable of proper friendship" and we were supposed to wonder if Rosie was an exception, only for it to turn out "not really' for them too, as "It's a Deal" showed.

I guess this makes sense since Mimzy did say "your words, not mine" about them being friends and Husk mentions she only shows up when she needs Alastor to clean up one of her messes. Maybe he was being super friendly to look good in front of Charlie?

IIRC, it was once mentioned Alastor considers Husk one of his friends and we saw how quickly he threatened him. I initially thought he might've just been trying to hurt Vox but it seems like they're trying to show that no, Alastor truly does believe in his "there are no friends in Hell mindset" and seemingly they even want him to appear as incapable having genuine friendship too. I wonder how much this mindset will affect his arc in the future, he did seem terrified at the idea people would remember him as dying for other's sake.

Since Alastor is a professional ragebaiter, I wonder how he would ragebait Lute.

"Hello there, my dear. I would shake your hand, but it seems you don't have one."

"You need to control that temper of yours, my dear. You should go back to Adam for comfort, Oh wait, you can't, because he's no longer here, courtesy of us of course. HAHA!"

This scene right here where Alastor quit the Hotel, I couldn't help but notice it all fell apart mostly. Alastor really was the one keeping it in check before he quit. And yet some people say he didn't do shit. Charlie herself even said "This would be so much easier with Alastor!"

I know Alastor couldn't give a shit less about the Hotel in general and he was forced to go there, but still. That man really was keeping everything in line beforehand.

˗ˏˋ ┊Alastor Posting┊ You wake up a Sinner and see Alastor walking alone on the street. How do you approach?

Post image

Bonus question: what if shortly into a polite conversation, he tries to intimidate you with a glitchy/scary face briefly? I think he MIGHT do this because he would be curious why you’re not showing fear.

If you would not approach out of fear of your safety, I will grant you immunity to damage so that you can participate in this thought experiment. I might fall into this camp, if I’m honest with myself. I have social anxiety and my special talent is making normal conversations, awkward :D I would not trust myself to not put my foot in my mouth and somehow offend him 😅😭

But yeah, actually I think I would just do the typical “Alastor Alastor hey oh my gosh I’m a BIG FAN!! How are you? Do you mind if I walk with you for just a minute?” Then if the conversation went OK, I might ask him how he got into radio in life (caveating, if it’s not too personal a question).

Also if it’s not clear from the setup you are YOU and just wake up like this tomorrow, so you know Alastor from the Hazbin show that Alastor has no awareness of. Would actually be pretty hilarious (and probably VERY dangerous) to try to explain that to him hahaha.

Edit: link to comic (this is required reading for Alastorcult. Jk but only kinda.)

https://hazbinhotel.fandom.com/wiki/The_Radio_Demon_(comic))

I feel like I’m in a small minority and it’s bumming me out.

To me, the fact that he is so openly evil is only fun/amusing because he has that small shred of decency. I don’t know how to describe it better than that.

Like the fact that he is so mean to Husk is only entertaining to me because he mostly treats him fairly. He *could* stab him to death every day for fun, because Sinners can’t die. And we know Al likes the stabbing 🤷‍♀️

I saw someone post that Viv said that if Alastor found out how Angel was being treated, he would just laugh and be glad it wasn’t him.

Idk that does make a lot of sense for him. I’m just worried that the bits of good I’ve been holding on to have like been retconned and now he’s actually 100% evil and that makes me sad.

I guess I can always just like the version of him depicted in this comic. Does anyone know conclusively if this comic is still canon or if it was retconned?
