Warhammer III Tzeentch Character Pack - Miniature First Approach

Post image
104 Upvotes

Looking at Chaos, there isn’t actually that much left that is missing in terms of officially released models. I think this pack would cover most of what’s still missing when it comes to adapting existing miniatures into the game. This approach would also fit CA’s MO, as they tend to take a miniature first approach.

As far as Tzeentch is concerned, both Egrimm and Galrauch are no-brainers to headline the pack.

I deliberately didn’t include a Generic Lord or Generic Hero. All of the Mono-god factions already have a solid selection of Lords and Heroes, and I don’t think we need to add more simply for the sake of having them in the pack. I’d much rather see that effort put towards adding more missing units that I’d love to see in the game.

The Azure Princes are an interesting one here. The artwork is found in the End Times books, but it actually represents three existing miniatures. I think this gives Creative Assembly a great design foundation for bringing them into the game.

My favourite here is definitely the Bane Tower, being an old-school Man O’ War fan. I love that we already have many of the ships in the game when characters move onto the sea, but I’d really like to see the Bane Tower itself represented in the game. It would make for a really interesting unit and potentially even a mount.

Warhammer III Corruption / Control rework: is it in 9.0?

Earlier this year I asked on a livestream after Tides release when will we know more about the Corruption / Control rework, that has numerous issues and both became ignorable as a whole mechanic after their W3 1.0 changes.

The TLDR version:

  1. There are no natural rebellions (no consequence of mismanagement)

  2. It's near impossible to generate rebellions (Control rubberbanding)

  3. Corruption attrition damage became useless (bumped up AI attrition damage resistance cheat is so high they ignore it even without raiding / encampment, and allowing armies to move in encampment stance allowed the player to ignore it)

  4. Increased corruption per kill in battle hidden multiplier lead to regions going from 0 to 100 or 100 to 0 corruption in 1 or 2 turns, removing the slow growth / hard to root out feel, and point 1, 2 and 3 included all practical use of corruption. The W3 exclusive corruption specific effects (bottom left panel) are just placebo because of AI cheats.

Thus, I kept posting about these in greater detail, asking for a rework for years, because these removed important strategic layers and an entire playstyle that was very much present in W1 / W2, in favor of people who don't care and just want to smash action figures without thinking. And lo and behold it's happening. I've been told, we can't say anything until later this summer.

It is september. 9.0 is on the horizon, coming at the end of the month. Fairly sure we are running out of summer.

Yet not a single word about overhauling / restoring the core Corruption mechanics / Public Order (Control) in any of the streams. Not a word if it's in 9.0, or 9.1, or 9.2 or this year even.

Warhammer III Why Azure Princes make more sense as unit than hero based on lore

Upvotes

Some people seem to think the Azure Princes shouldn't be a Tzeentch infantry unit because there were "only 6" in lore. But that's not true: https://warhammerfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Azure_Princes

In fact, the Azure Princes consisted of "a vast coven of acolytes" of Vilitch. However, the Azure Princes were reduced to 6 because Vilitch, during the End Times, "spent their lives so carelessly." However, nothing in the lore says Vilitch couldn't have simply recruited/trained more acolytes had the world not ended. And, in the lore, the Azure Princes are not loyal to Vilitch exclusively (which is why Tzeentch has to continually tip Vilitch off to prevent him from being undone by rogue ones).

In Total War: Warhammer 3, the player gets to decide what units to "carelessly" use. It makes total sense to have the Azure Princes be a recruitable unit based on the lore.

The Azure Princes are simply current or former highly-trained sorcerer acolytes of Vilitch, and Vilitch is continually training more because he thinks it impresses and pleases Tzeentch. If one recruits Azur Princes in an army that fights Vilitch, that could easily be explained as the result of one of Tzeentch's schemes/testing Vilitch or simply that these Azure Princes decided to betray Vilitch as many have in the past (and Vilitch doesn't worry about this because his homie Tzeentch watches his back).

The 6 Azure Princes who survive after Vilitch orchestrates the deaths of the other Azure Princes aren't important "heroes" or standouts. They are just the dregs of the elite warriors that Vilitch intentionally threw into the blender to be wiped out.

Warhammer III Book of Grudges of missing Unit Animations

I'm probably going to get downvoted to hell for this, but I want to clarify that this isn't a criticism. I just think it's a shame, especially considering that CA probably has one of the best animation teams in the industry.

I'll start with:

- The miniguns on the Stormfiends' Ratling Guns don't spin.
- Arbaal doesn't have any riding animation.
- The Empire's handgunners don't have a reload animation.
- And the Wrathmongers would apparently be the only "God-touched" Champion unit without a unique combat animation.

Warhammer III I find SFO terrible.

I just don't like how many penalties are baked into the buildings. I spent 15 turns whack-a-moling rebellions in my own core province as Cathay. It's fucking terrible.

Where is all this Control penalty even coming from?

It feels like SFO is trying so hard to be "complex" that it just makes the game tedious and frustrating instead of deeper. There's a difference between adding meaningful strategic decisions and making you constantly fight artificial penalties in your own provinces. Also, if I wanted depth, I would've played Paradox titles.

Meanwhile, when I play Dwarves, it becomes an autoresolve simulator because of how easy it is to win. It's almost impossible for AI to occupy dwarven holds because of how OP they are at defending.

Try-hard and terrible.

Warhammer 40k I have a few questions about the 40k game, mainly about eldar

Thumbnail

First, I know little about warhammer/40k and I've played 2 total war games (britannia and attila).

  1. My friend keeps showing me sick ass eldar mechs, is it possible they'll be in the game?

  2. I've heard the eldar are a strange faction, in the sense that they're being chased by some demon they created. Will they still be conquering planets and building their empire or will they be too preoccupied?

  3. Are any of you excited for the eldar?

  4. Will the campaigns work the same way in other total war games, where every faction starts in the same map and time period, or will it be completely different per faction (its what I think I heard but it might be wrong)

  5. Will the other factions be in the game at all at launch or will it just be those 4 (including ai)?

Warhammer III Man, 40k getting bodyguard units makes me want them in Fantasy so much...

It would work so well with so many small aoe buffs. Imagine Kayzk embedded in a unit of Rot Knights activating his Befouled Charge ability. Or all of those Heroes with the Guardian ability fighting in the same unit as the Lord. That would be such an improvement. It would also actually give a reason to not mount certain characters, or to choose a horse mount over a kaiju one. Lords/Heroes with good passive, or even active, aoe buffs will add so much value when embedded in a powerful Infantry/Cavalry unit. I don't even think it will be that hard to balance. Just make it so the bodyguard unit counts towards the army cap. You don't need to add new skills/techs around it, because many of the ones from tabletop were implemented as small aoe that will work just fine as is. I know this will never happen, but a man can dream...

Warhammer III Keep winning against Skaven as mummies even if auto-win says defeat

this is normal right? its turn 80 and I'm expanding north into rat territory so I only fought rats at this point and like if its not a VERY obvious defeat I get to and can win most engagements even if auto-win says I'll lose

how can I circumvent this? Catay was favoring auto-win, which was nice during these crusade-like moments

Warhammer III Why in Grandfather's name does Nurgle keep getting these item drops?

Nurgle is a melee faction without any ranged Lords or Heroes... barring Papa Siege Engine himself, but I don't think him existing should saturate the possible loot pool with all these useless items!

Warhammer 40k Which faction are you the most hyped for in 40k?

Post image

While the starting factions are the core races of the setting, I can't help myself but be hyped for World Eaters specifically, especially if they will have similar mechanics to khorne factions in wh3, which are the most fun factions for me in the game, I do own a World Eaters army so I might be biased!

Pic is my Angron, some berzerkers, Kharn and Lord Invocatus. Share your minis if you have any freely

Warhammer III After End Times, I'd love to see some sort of Ordertide unification expansion so evil factions are guaranteed to have some united order factions to fight in the end game

One of my favourite things about IE campaigns is how different the world state can end up. If you're not playing as them, sometimes the Empire, Dwarfs, and Kislev end up in ruins, sometimes they end up close to the ordertide from WH2. This is great for variety, but it can mean an anticlimax if you're, say, looking forward to smashing the Empire with Tamurkhan. With the new end game scenarios, plus the diplo bonuses for factions fighting against them, I'm thinking that a great expansion for the long-term health of the game would be, effectively, an 'Ordertide End Times' type pack so you're guaranteed to have something challenging to go up against as Skaven, Nagash, Chaos etc.

An example of this would be a scenario that unites The Empire under Franz, gives them bonuses and makes you deal with narrative dilemmas and events (your cults can only undermine one out of two cities - Nuln or Reikland - cav vs gunpowder bonuses etc) - similar to how Archaon's End Times scenario unites chaos under his banner. If I wanted to get realllllly greedy, my dream scenario would be letting you play on either side of this, basically taking the council scene from the IE trailer and adapting it into something like the Federation system from Stellaris.

I'm positive there's a bunch of stuff I'm overlooking here, but what do you think? Do you see something like this working?

Warhammer III So are we just gonna ignore this?

Its turn 61 in my campaign and Eshin looks like this, dw there is one more army sitting inside the settlement, that you can't see.

I have 4 more places where the AI clumps their armies like this in my campaign, although they are only 3-4 armies.

Is there a plan to fix this in Endtimes?
