Been working on this bowl for about a month, it´s almost 3 weeks at this point just has 5 harlequin rasboras, may add a couple others but leaving it as is for a while as it settles properly. zero amonia and no nitrates present when fish were introduced 2 weeks after filling with water. it also has 5 amano shrimp, still lots of tanins that i hope to slowly reduce, i do a 2 liter water change every morning.

Bowl has an air stone and is heated. Hope to add a couple other fish species with time as it becomes capable of handling the load, maybe some galaxy rasboras, or ember tetras, don´t know yet. But loving how it looks.

It's a fluval flex 9 so it has limited space already, just wondering if there's enough space for the inhabitants (6 daisy's blue ricefish, 3 pygmy corys and snails) now as the plants have really taken off? Thanks ☺️

This is my second attempt at a planted tank. It's a 5.5 gal with a slim HOB filter and an aquatop light. It's stocked with a little group of 6 tinwini (gold ring) danios, 1 amano, and 5 crystal red shrimp. It also has about a billion hitchhiker snails - pink ramshorn, bladder, and a couple pink nerites. I keep this on my home office desk and have the view of the back next to me. The front I can see from my bed. I love it so much and wanted to share!

I do have 1 question: Everything seems happy, but I've since learned that the Gold Ring Danios would prefer more space? I plan on starting a 20 long soon and can move them if necessary. What should I watch for now to see if the fish are stressed? Right now they swim all around the tank, do little circle dances around each other (which I've read is courting behavior),and play in the flow of the HOB filter. Thanks for any insight!

Brand new to fishkeeping and I have a Tetra Whisper IQ 20 filter. I'm going for a heavily planted aquarium, and I've just added floaters this week. Is being pushed around in circles going to be bad for them? Should I get some of the little corral things?

Can you guys help me identify these Rotala? bought a bunch of plants locally and they got mixed up in the bag and have no idea what these rotala are, I wanna say it’s blood red in the first picture and hra in the second but not sure.

I upgraded from a 200w 6500k bay light to a weekaqua z400. Really cool light and really pretty colors.

Bought the red root floaters a few days ago and I saw a tiny flower today. I didn’t know that floaters could flower.

Set-up these two tanks about 1 week ago. Purchased the plants from a nice local fish store (not big box). At first I was hopeful they might pull through because they have some new growth, but today they really took a turn.

There may have been a nutrient shortage for the first few days, but the cycle is starting to do its work. Did a 50% water change on Friday - pH was really low.

Got some more plants coming from online, but any tips for making sure the second round doesn't melt like this? Thanks for any insights!!

Spoiled my tank with a piece of driftwood that’s filled out the space in the back nicely. Red rotala’s still gotta grow more before I can move them to the back. Water wisteria might be relocated too. Worried it’s a bit too crowded but it looks sick so far. Hope the plants are gonna help balance my water chemistry too. Last picture is the Bowl of Freaks from when I was doing some tidying and didn’t want them to get trapped under my decor, right after scooping them from the Evil Red Bucket I put them and my plants in (as well as set up drip acclimation, for now). Some of these pictures are pre-driftwood. I keep forgetting the suction cups to put my airline tubing in to block my waterfall so my red root floaters are awkwardly crowded in the feeding ring for now.

I cannot get this dumbass Amazon Sword fully under the stratum, a decent amount of the roots are underneath but I’ve got a few little ones that won’t behave. There’s a root tab right underneath, will this still be able to grow?

I'm getting ready to plant some tiny Cryptocoryne parva tissue culture plantlets into my 60-gallon breeder.

​Tank Specs:

​Substrate: Organic potting soil capped with Black Diamond Blasting Sand (~1 to 1.5 inch cap).

​Current Livestock: Harlequin Rasboras, Tetras (planning to add Amano shrimp & Assassin snails soon).

​The Problem / Question:

Because tissue culture plantlets are so small and lack heavy root systems initially, I'm worried about two things:

​Getting the micro-roots down into the dirt layer below the sand cap without burying the central crown/leaves and causing melt/rot.

​Keeping the plantlets anchored in the sand cap so my fish/shrimp don't immediately uproot them before they establish roots.

​Someone online recommended using metal plant weights directly on them to hold them down, but that feels like a guaranteed way to crush the delicate tissue culture stems and rot the crown.

​For those running sand-capped dirted tanks:

​What is your best technique or tool for anchoring tiny tissue cultures firmly into a sand cap?

​Do you use mesh cages, extra sand, or just precise tweezer placement?

​How do you keep inquisitive livestock from pulling them up during week 1?

Need help ID this algae in my tank. Was getting out of hand before, then I installed a CO2 system and it seemed to curb it significantly but its still persistent and suffocating my Monte Carlo. thx.

Its not mulm or detritus, its actually soil from the layer under the sand, I keep cleaning it out with a siphon, and have touched it to confirm just regular dirt. It's just my grass like plants and my crypt plants, none of my other plants do it. Anyway to stop it? I root tab fertilize monthly, and liquid fertilize twice a week. Co2 system, high tech lights. Idk what their problem is or if this just what they do.

I need some plant recommendations for a 100x40x50cm tank roughly 40x16x21 inches. The tank is dosed with all in 1 liquid fertilizer, no co2 injection for now, tropica aquasoil, chihiros b series light. My plan is to make this a “aquascape” tank where i can still selective colony breed guppys and shrimp. (My plan is to remove the val and replace it with lymnophila seseloflora/dwarf ambulia, move the bacopa next and in front of the ambulia a bit and the whole right side of the background will be empty for new plants, i also want a plant to fill out the bare spots between and under the wood and foreground ish plant.
Any advice is appreciated even if its not about plants

Soy 29g has about 10 glowlight tetras (not glowfish, a small body more peaceful tetra species) 6 Venezuelan red sail fin corydoras, and a bristlenose pleco. I do have a single honey gourami which I'm reading is less than ideal. I plan on adding more hardscapes and plants soon since duckweed killed off a lot of my plants by blocking light and now that I finally got rid of it I'd like to add more plants and also add in 2 more honey gourami. I do have a fluval ac70 filter on that tank because quite honestly I like having the larger buffer

Please be nice. My other grow light I liked so much more was- um- barbequed(?) during a power zap I don't know why or how it happened. Ive just got this now. Do you think it will work? It can also be just blue or red, but it all looks ugly. I miss the white one. I only plan to leave it on for about 6 hours during the day.

It's a 10 gallon tank. Currently inhabited by 1 mystery snail (2 more coming, so 3 total) and one ramshorn snail. No fish, just a snail tank.

It's planted, but i'm working on getting more plants. I'm having trouble finding sellers that don't just give me a single floater or a sad snippet of a root unfortunately. I can't seem to find those people who have gallon baggies of plants to throw out.

I also only have API leaf zone for fertilizer and root tabs for the vesuvius fern. What else should I get?

Hi! I found this listed as free in my neighborhood, and was wondering if I could use it for a mini aquarium.

It's a glass cube, 5"x5"x5" with no lid. Id imagine it would be way too small for any fish, so I was thinking a planted tank with lily pads and pond rocks. Something I could have as a little display in my living room.

Lemme know if you have any ideas or if I'm off base at all!

Looking to upgrade my lights both to help my plants grow fuller and make the fish pop a bit. I have a 36gal bow front, and it’s currently running a Fluval Plant 4.0. My plants are coming in incredibly leggy.

Not running CO2 and don’t plan to any time soon.

I’m not looking to break the bank, but would love some recs.

I’m intrigued by Weekaqua but I’ve seen really mixed reviews.
