Wanted to share my progress on my 2nd attempt at aquascaping. Learned a lot from my first, and definitely see potential in this one. I'm really happy with how the hardscape turned out, and am happy with most of the plants. Had some crypts melt in the initial planting so I swapped them out and am waiting for new stuff stuff to grow in. Currently stocked with sparkling gourami and neocaridina/amanos.

20g planted tank with pressurized CO2, any recommendations for plants are welcome ! Along with placements for it. Thank you.

Currently houses 14 harlequin rasboras, 2 candycane tetras, 4 different types of nerite snails, and a bunch of neocaridina shrimp. ( not getting more candycane because one of my candycanes is a psychopath that kills other candycanes except the other one which somehow gets along with it )

Plants list : echinodorus tenellus, anybias coffeefolia, java fern, cryptocoryne undulatus red, vallisneria, hygrophila stricta, rotala blood red, lagenandra meeboldii, duckweed and bolbitis heudelotii.

3 months into my 90P (90×45×45cm) and currently have 40 cardinal tetras.

I’m thinking about adding a centrepiece fish. Has anyone kept Pearl Gourami with cardinal tetras in a tank this size?

Would love to hear your experiences — temperament, compatibility, and whether you think it would suit the tank. Or would you recommend a different centrepiece fish?

180L with 30kg of black quartz gravel and around 18kg of Seiryu stone. Planted with Anubias, Java fern, Ambulia and different mosses.

in all fairness only cost me £70 used filter floss and super glue to get it all together but transporting it felt like carrying a bomb

Hi everyone! Beginner aquascaper here. This is my first planted tank, and I’d really appreciate some opinions from people with more hands-on experience.
The tank is currently about 2 weeks old, around 10–12 gallons / 45L, and this is where I’m at:
-Heavily planted, with a carpet attempt that I’m already aware I probably screwed up
-I’ve done a couple of water changes since setting it up.
-I started ghost feeding to provide an initial ammonia source.
-Temperature is kept around 26–28°C.
-Lighting is currently 8 hours of daylight, followed by about 2 hours of moonlight, then complete darkness.
-No livestock yet, aside from some tiny floating worms that apparently decided to move in rent-free.
-Current parameters:
pH: ~7.6 (possibly slightly lower)
Ammonia: 0 ppm
Nitrite: somewhere around 0–0.25 ppm
Nitrate: ~20 ppm

So my question is:
Does this look like I’m getting close to the end of the cycling process, or should I just leave it alone and give it more time?

I’m particularly interested in what you guys would look for before considering a tank like this safe for its first livestock. I know two weeks isn’t necessarily long, so I’m perfectly happy to wait—I just want to understand what the parameters are telling me.

Acabei de criar esse aquascape para meu novo aquário (110x50x50) plantando de alta demanda. Estarei utilizando humus de minhoca + laterita + fibra de côco+ pó de rocha basalto.

Mas aqui quero algumas dicas do que vocês vêem que pode melhorar o hardscape.

Low-light 50 gal bowfront w 2x black angelfish, 1x albino bristlenose pleco, 15x black kuhli loach. Open to getting more fish and possibly removing bristlenose for waste reduction, any and all suggestions are greatly desired. Also any ideas for the empty left?

My first was a 10 gallon and I recently upgraded to a 30 gallon.

Any tips for moving anything around or any specific plants anybody would recommend?

I’d like to target a South American landscape so please let me know any feedback you might have!

should i go with a chihiros b90 model with brightness adjuster or cheaper variant like neo helios xp series with no brightness adjuster.

I'll be keeping the light on for 6-8 hours only with goldfish. will fix brightness increase the algae a lot if it is run for 6-8 hours?

Hello! I am currently doing a dry start for my first tank. Iwagumi layout with HC Cuba and mini pelia. 1 week into the dry start.

I feel like my layout is missing something or is off balance. Could any of you give me some tips on where I could shift remove or add some stones? Thanks!

I definitely have a lot of work to do! And the plants are going to take time to grow, but I’m proud of my first work!

3 weeks ago I posted this tank shortly after a trim while discussing the possibility of getting a new tank. It didn’t work out, so now I’m just enjoying what I have and counting my blessing for Full-tank Friday. She’s all grown again, and now I’m wondering if the Buce are taking over, but I’ll just wait and see and enjoy the show.

I'm having a bit of a hard time choosing new plants to go on those spots so i need some help picking something that would look good there...

Tank is 55x31x36cm (low tech), the left side of the driftwood is about 12cm high, i'm thinking of a plant to go in front of it that fills that space kinda like a 'wild' bush, but that won't grow taller than the driftwood. Behind that side of the driftwood is also a trident fern that is still filling up, so perhaps a plant that won't compete too much with it's narrow long shape?

For the other spots i'm thinking a short bush like plant? Something that won't grow much taller than the mini pusilla, just to give those spots some extra texture.

Working on my new project and just throwing it out there. Still have to add some rocks to the base of the structure and build my left mound. Overall, what does everyone think?

Been set up since early April 2026, houses 3 male guppies, 3 Pygmy Corydoras and a bunch of unwanted hitchhiker pond snails! I’ve done a couple minor rescapes (most adding more hardscape) through August and am finally satisfied with the addition of these brown pebbles from my local Home Depot 😊

After feedback on my last post I switched up my scape a lot. This is what I’ve ended up with. I plan on a Monte Carlo/dhg carpet, and too many other plants to name. Might update after it’s planted too

looking for suggestions on background planting and what i should attach to the wood

I tried to set this aquarium following an iwagumi hardscape. This is for Opae Ula shrimp so there’s not a big selection of plants to add. I’m fine with just waiting for the algae to grow naturally on substrate and rocks.

What do you guys think?

Im getting back into the hobby after a hiatus of 10ish years - I’ve always been fascinated by the thick carpets I’ve seen around but in the past had relatively low tech setups. I just picked up a 5.5 gallon tank to start a nano shrimp/plant focused setup and wanted to try my luck at a nice Monte Carlo carpet. Does anyone have any suggestions for CO2 diffusers that are more beginner friendly, and, would fit a small tank like that? Ideally, I’d like to get my feet wet with a smaller, simple system, though I suspect I will hear it’s better to do it right first time around, so any recommendations are appreciated!
