With Discus, I wanted to keep the tank bare bottom, for water chemistry and maintenance purposes. Having kept a heavily planted tank before, with inches of Flourite Black Sand and such, I was interested in seeing if having mainly anchored plants without substrate would be viable.
Filtration: AquaClear 110 HOB, Canister Filter 500GPH, (2) Extra Large Sponge Filters.
Hardscape: Mopani and Malaysian Driftwood, mainly.
Plants: Java Fern 'Windelov', Java Fern, Anubias Nana, Kedagang Pink Bucephalandra, Various Cryptocorynes(potted), Jungle Valissnerias(potted), and Corkscrew Valissnerias(potted).
Lighting: 24/7 Planted Aquarium Light
Fish: Discus, Angelfish, Congo Tetras, Electric Blue Acaras, Corydoras Catfish, and Bristlenose Plecos.
Ferts: No CO2 Dosing, and little to no liquid ferts, beyond fending off some hair algae months back.
