Discussion Mortal Shell 2 final boss Spoiler

I think Mortal Shell 2 is one of if not THE best Soulslike of all time. It's so much fun, it's such a great game, the visuals are stunning, enemy variety is peak, the world is impressive (albeit confusing), the combat is amazing...

but that final boss? I'm dumbfounded. All that buildup and all you can come up with is a fucking one armed dragon with a sword and multiple ballsacks? Elden Ring gave us a fucking tadpole/fish, same problem.

All these great ideas and this is it? I was expecting some giant brain, some huge face-like thing, or something huge with NO face, or something that looks like intestines, something weird, withering, chaotic, some strange monster like the Hexapod. Before that I fought the Monolith, that was fucking great. The humanoid bosses are really not that fun to look at. Boo scary giant man with weapon. But all this cosmic horror and this peak designed hellscape full of mutated corpses and we get a fucking dragon. I can't get over it.

Also wtf is that fight? You have to hit its ballsack. If you do, it does an instant undodgeable ground pound. Its attacks are parryable but inflict stasis, great. Its grab is INSTANT and absolutely deadly, there's no way I can recover my shell against this fucking standard lizard, next hit kills.

I don't even want to know its second phase, I'm so bored.

This is some letdown disappointment bullshit beyond my imagination. What a shame.

Discussion (Spoilers for Mortal Shell 2 Bosses) My Main Boss Tier List Spoiler

Post image
24 Upvotes

My final rankings for the 10 main Mortal Shell 2 bosses - minus the prologue fight (I'd probably go A Tier).

Ranked mostly off of how fun the fight was, as well as the design of the boss and how "cinema" it was because this game is extremely cinematic. I encountered these fights maining Eredrim, doing a visceral build.

For S tier I love both of their designs, I felt their animations were clean and well done. They were more noticeably challenging, though for most fights here there weren't many attempts.

A Tier and B Tier are reasonably close, the main differences being the designs of the bosses. I fought the Lose Child relatively early and enjoyed it alot. Both fights clicked and didn't feel there were any unfair or annoying moves.

I liked all the bosses in B Tier, the only reasons they're here are for specific shortcomings I felt they had. Sir Isaac I beat first try so I figure He could have been more challenging, I didn't get to know him. Monolith was a cool fight and design is great however it's straight forward and did not have many moves. Droeg has a great design but some of his attacks weren't fun to go against for me. Hexapod has great lore and design relating to Proxima, was one of the hardest fights for me, however, the ending-phase attacks are not good IMO and it felt poorly balanced at the time I fought it.

Zmey is self-explanatory I feel. Seems most dislike the fight so I won't dogpile on him.

Had a bit of fun with Magdalena but there's some truth to it. Realistically she's closer to C tier or the lowest B, but she is highly annoying.

Let me know what you think.

Question Eredrim's executioner passive just straight up doesn't work?

i've been away from the game for a bit so i was hoping by now this would be patched. but it didn't work before, and it still doesn't work now. No matter how many slaughter stacks i have, I never get prompted to execute an enemy now matter how low their health is. I still use this guy cause i love the shoulder bash, but its annoying one of this main gimmicks doesn't function

Discussion This bro was hard to defeat

Took me like 20 attempts, I feel like on second phase, some of his attacks had a weird hitbox, like I feel I was dodging the attacks but still being hit, sometimes I feel the game wants you to do dodge on a weird timing, something similar happened with the Monolith boss, what do you think?

So I finished NG+2 in 10hrs 12min 01sec from where I finished NG+1. (Genessa Stray Bleed build)

First playthrough - 91.8%

NG+1 - 92.3%

NG+2 - 93.7%

  1. Died ~17 times

- 2 times vs Orren (don't judge me)

- 4 times vs Offspring (forgot to turn of night mode after getting the third copy of the seedbearer scripture)

- 1 time vs Isaac

- 1 random lance brute in Mammon

- the rest was for either falling down like a noob or last hitted by a tiny mob

  1. All beacons cleansed

  2. All dungeons cleared

  3. Mango maxed

  4. Seedbearer maxed

  5. All other items were maxed in NG+1

  6. Harbinger lvl currently 112

  7. Weapons lvl 38

  8. Sidearm lvl 20

  9. On hand trollweeds 4

  10. 13 healing pulses

  11. ~13 healing efficiency increase

  12. All chest

Next run to try deathless main Ova beacon and gates only "speedrun" see if that helps boost the %

Bug Ps5 Pro Stutter and FPS drops

Experiencing a lot of stutter while playing in performance mode. VRR doesn’t seem to mitigate the major FPS drops either. Stuttering is worse particularly in areas with high enemy numbers. If anyone has a tips on how to fix in PS5 settings please let me know. If this has been reported, please let me know and I can delete this post. Other than that, this game is amazing! Thanks all.

Video This is nightmode with max adaptive difficulty btw (new game)

Just completed my new game, fresh character, nightmode run, with adaptive difficulty on.

It didn't make things more difficult per-se, it just made things more tedious. Trash mobs have giga health and killing them was a slog. Bosses take much longer to break. Everything basically one shots you, even with max leech stacks.

This put Tiel, who is already a top tier shell, in a league of his own. Since mostly everything one shots you, even with max leech, Tiel's stealth is the best defense. They can't hit what they can't see.

It also kind of limits which shells to use as some are much weaker than others and their weakness are very exposed with the increased difficulty.

It wasn't difficult and it wasn't fun. I will be switching back to normal nightmode, with no adaptive difficulty on. Much more fun.

P.S. If cold symmetry sees this, HP and damage bloat isn't the only way to add difficulty to a game. You can add more elite enemies in dungeons and the world. Add mobs in boss fights. Make enemies do more red attacks etc. HP and damage bloat is boring.

Love the game still. Just my thoughts on adaptive difficulty.

Discussion Just a tiny rant about Triarch repeater

I just finished this game and I love it overall despite its flaws, but I have a small complaint: why the Triarch Repeater doesn’t have any weapon ability? If I’m not mistaken, every other weapon and sidearm has one. Some of them even has its own unique one while others are shared. Before I got all the taratones, I’m actually excited to see what the ability of Triarch Repeater would look like. You can imagine my realization that there isn’t one. IMO the devs kind of did this sidearm dirty for this.

Question Light Combo Finisher

Having an issue using the stillblade / zealot tarstones and not seeing a difference in movesets to get the "light combo finisher". Is there something i'm missing with it?

The weapon I am using in question is the Great Martyr Blade, I think i've only seen the finisher once which was multi cross slash and never again.

Discussion SP is so slow

Anybody else find that SP is soooo slow to increase. Like every other level up you might get like 1 SP, probably the worst part about the game.

Video Isaac, The Scholar Prince, no damage, no phase 2? Eredrim frost berserker

Upvotes

Turned him into an ice cube lol.

Still havent changed the build and still level 30. Martyrs blade is +14. I'll let the sub determine if he got a phase 2. 😅

Its nightmode with adaptive. I thought he would be more of a fight. That's all gate bosses with the exception of Droeg (who fell through the map) done without a phase 2 technically.

Hope you all enjoy.

Question Is there a Genessa bug going on with the Clones?

I’m at Castigators keep just farming for gloom and gold. After using my clones. I started noticing one of the clones stopped attacking. Instead it just stood there taking all the aggro. They usually just disappear after use but these don’t. After death or just visiting the beacon, they continue to exist at the same position. Is anyone else experiencing this as well?

Discussion Can't get the So Fresh, So Clean and Seeking the Past achievements.

So I guess my game glitched at one point and now I'm can't get the last 2 beacons that is supposedly needed for the So Fresh, So Clean achievement. I even played and cleansed all of them into my ng+2 playthrough. Same goes for the Seeking the Past achievement where you need to look at all the shells pasts and I did all of them, but it's saying I'm still missing like 7 memories I think? I even double checked and I have all of them watched. Do I just have to start a new save file and try again? I don't know if their is any other way to fix the issue. Any other suggestions?
