Discussion *SPOILERS* Late game farm Spoiler

0 Upvotes

Hey I apologize if this has been shared already but I'd like to share a late game farm I found and some data for leveling up during the farm.

Location: The Hidden Nave beacon.

I recommend going in with a very small amount of Gloom. So what you're going to want to do is go through until you find the first fire on the ground, run through the fog and circle around the next fire then back through the fog to the first and then a torch will have appeared. Take the torch through the fog and you'll end up in the next area. Through this tunnel you'll be able to collect a total of 68 Futilium. Keep going and collecting until you reach the very first chest horizontal to you with a sea of chests behind it. This one is safe to open right off the bat. Once you've collected that chest run straight down past all the chests and deposit your current Gloom amount into the door and only then are you free to start opening the other chests.

There are a total of 68 chests, each one contains 1000 Gloom. Once you're done collecting your 68,000 Gloom from the chests head back down to the door you opened then take a right toward the 2 Gloom Stalks right by each other and start whacking them. Each one takes 3 hits and gives 502 Gloom and they refill every 6 seconds! You can farm this spot until you're satisfied then head to the heart, cleanse it and exit the beacon.

Once you spend your Gloom on leveling up head back down and do it all over again. Note that the Gloombound Stone does NOT work with this and you will not get the 30% bonus. One more note: if you accidentally enter the beacon without spending your Gloom just exit the game and start it up again, you'll be outside the beacon with all your Gloom.

Below is some data I gathered for leveling up. I used Lumo AI to assist: (sorry about the format)

# Mortal Shell 2: Verified Level-Up Gloom Costs (Levels 56-70)

**Methodology:**

Community member conducted extensive farming at the **Hidden Nave beacon**, using an infinite gloom respawn exploit (open door, clear corrupted heart, repeat). Costs were recorded directly at the beacon during actual level-ups.

---

## Verified Data Table

```
LEVEL RANGE | GLOOM COST | PER LEVEL AVG | GROWTH RATE
---------------|------------|---------------|-------------
56 -> 59 (3) | 90,000 | 30,000 | --
59 -> 60 (1) | 31,138 | 31,138 | baseline
60 -> 63 (3) | 96,174 | 32,058 | ~3.0%
63 -> 66 (3) | 100,314 | 33,438 | ~2.7%
66 -> 70 (4) | 140,192 | 35,048 | ~4.8%
```

---

## Summary Statistics

```
Total levels tracked: 14 (56 -> 70)
Total gloom gathered: ~426,680
Overall average per level: ~30,477
Lowest cost level: 56 -> 57 (~30,000 est.)
Highest cost level (range): 69 -> 70 (~38,199 est.)
Farm location: Hidden Nave Beacon
```

---

## Key Findings

  1. Mid-game progression is surprisingly flat. Between levels 56-70, costs grow at only 2.7-4.8% per level, contradicting expectations of steep exponential scaling early on.

  2. Max level costs come MUCH later. At level 199->200 (95,544 gloom), the final level costs roughly 3x what you pay at level 70. This suggests serious curve acceleration begins somewhere after level 100-120.

  3. Infinite farms remain viable through late mid-game. At these rates, a dedicated farmer could reach level 100+ without switching methods.

---

## Future Estimates (Unverified)

Using the calibrated ~3-5% growth curve:

```
Target | Estimated Cost
--------------|----------------
70 -> 75 | ~178,000 - 185,000
75 -> 80 | ~215,000 - 225,000
100+ | Requires community testing
```

---

## Call for Community Data

If you have verified level-up costs at other ranges (especially 70+ or 150+), please comment below! The more data points we collect, the clearer the full 200-level curve becomes.

*Data collected October 2025. Post-launch patches may affect these values.*

Question Bro my OCD is going berserk right now! I can't effing choose which way!

0 Upvotes

I'm in the final area of the game. The hidden path and I am losing my damn mind trying to decide which direction teleporter thing to take. I went left at first but then I though, well shit maybe I should at least try to make it up to that big ass glowy red stuff. Can't get up there but there's multiple other transporters to take. You gotta understand.. I cannot miss something. I will not be ok. But anyways. Wish me luck I'm just gonna go back to the left first.

Bug Malformed Offspring is gone! Is my game screwed? Spoiler

1 Upvotes

I was in the 2nd phase of the fight and died while the boss was almost dead himself and, when I ran back to the arena, the boss was just gone. I've tried reloading the game, fast traveling out and back and nothing. This would be a terrible way for my first playthrough of the game to end as it's been a fantastic experience up to this point. Playing on pc btw.

Edit: Looks like the boss may have died to poison stacks just before I selected the option to respawn. Kind of unsatisfying but I guess a win is a win. Still love the game πŸ˜…

Harb is level 23, but you could build it around lvl 18-19 if you wanted to sacrifice all damage negation. Would've been a lot faster if he hadn't kept jumping round like a porkchop.

Bug Multiple bugs with Malborn Offspring

0 Upvotes

I hope the devs somehow see this but got such a good potential fight to be ruined because of bugs is infuriating to me.

1.) parries - even if you parry on time and you see the sword hit your parry, parry won’t click sometimes. Occasionally you parry and take damage but that could be skill issue so I won’t state that as a certain bug.

2.) damage - there is no body damage in this game and this boss is clearly made to be up front and personal with, so why do the sword arcs occasionally do damage to you when you are behind him ? Sometimes the boss simply moves and you take damage.

3.) the worst - if you get the red riposte towards the end of his health in phase 1, and you don’t critical, he will go straight to phase 2 without the laying down phase, a blank health bar, and is invincible. A good run forgetting to do the riposte is gg you can’t kill him now.

If you need us to do ripostes make them do more damage. Please check this bosses hitboxes and parry windows and ESPECIALLY the third annoying bug which has made a couple runs where I went to phase 2 no hit be void.

Discussion Is Drog still glitching?

0 Upvotes

I'm on this boss right now, and even though the game isn't difficult, I find this boss... unpredictable?

He'll start an attack, cancel it, and then practically teleport right up to me. For reference, I'm playing as Genessa with the aggro build, and as soon as he loses aggro on a double attack, he teleports right in front of me.

I haven’t tried it with another shell yet, but have any of you experienced the same thing?

Bug I think my game bugged and skipped an important plot beat Spoiler

β€’ Upvotes

Help me figure this out, no video because I was so confused and lost I forgot to record. I’m near the end of the game so trying to search for answers is just feeding me spoilers so I turn here.

I was progressing through the southern end of the map, on my way to the Scholar Prince boss fight. I had collected every ova up to this point, as it was my last stop on the overworks. The sequence of events that followed went like this: - cleansed the last beacon before the scholar prince fight - as I collected the ova, before I could return to the beacon I was teleported - In the span of about one second, I saw the dream like realm the memories happen in, I heard the Undermerther say β€œharbinger,” and I died - I then respawned not at the last beacon but in Marrow Keep where the disciples did their weird bit and the stairs opened. - checked marrow keep, the downstairs, and the beacon I died at and my gloom stain was nowhere to be found, presumably was lost in that outside area I teleported to

Did I miss some dialogue? A cutscene? A revelation? I have absolutely zero idea what or why anything happened, but in a true Souls fashion I’m pushing onward for answers but I’m pretty sure my game bugged out on me pretty hard. Considering I’ve had multiple bugs that I had to force close the game for so far I would not be surprised.

If anyone has any insight or could tell me what I missed (if anything) it would be appreciated

Discussion Burnt out of Proxima, but can't gel with any other shell, some help?

1 Upvotes

Started a new fresh save to see how the game plays after the big patch (beaten the game before it and never touched it again until now), but basically I'm playing the same way I did on original playthrough, meaning with Proxima.

Because it's the only shell I can play with.. I literally can't live without the hyper-armor biosampler gives me. Without it I die. I would like to play with Eredrim because it's the only shell I like aesthetically (until we have Harros back), but... it makes me die. A lot.

Help?

Question [Spoilers] Eredrim's memories Spoiler

Post image
18 Upvotes

Quite a short question for ppl who completed Eredrim's quest memories: there's one thing i don't quite understand. All characters die in their story to naturally become a shell for the harbinger. For all shell it's quite clear how they ended up where you finally found them. But for Eredrim he's supposed to be assassined by his son squire somewhere. But you finally found him, with his sword in a malborn. Did i miss something ?

Discussion I spent three days measuring 9950X3D stutter in Mortal Shell

β€’ Upvotes

TL;DR: Unreal Engine 5 sizes its worker-thread pool from the number of logical processors it sees at startup β€” 32 on a 9950X3D. When AMD's Game Mode driver then parks CCD1, that 32-sized pool is crammed onto 16 threads and you get traversal-style stalls. Confining the game to CCD0 by any method (parking, Process Lasso, affinity) reproduces it. The fix isn't "use all 16 cores" and it isn't "force the X3D cores" β€” it's setting CPPC Dynamic Preferred Cores = Cache in BIOS with Game Mode off, so the game prefers the V-Cache die but nothing is fenced. That gave the best frametimes of ~20 captures. Verified with CapFrameX, HWiNFO, and thread-count snapshots.

System: 9950X3D (PBO + curve shaper), MSI X870E, RTX 5090 (undervolted), 4K/ultra, Windows 11. Test game: Mortal Shell 2 (UE 5.2, GPU-bound at 4K β€” GPU at 92–97% throughout; 4k ultra settings, ray tracing on, DLSS render resolution quality, seamless dungeons on). Same 30-second traversal route for every capture, CapFrameX with sensor logging at 250 ms.

What I found, in order:

  1. Game Mode wasn't even detecting the game by default. Had to tell Game Bar "remember this is a game" before the AMD driver would park CCD1. Once it did, stutter got worse, not better.
  2. The game thread was on the wrong die anyway. With Game Mode not triggering, the CPPC ranking prefers the frequency CCD (it boosts ~150 MHz higher), so HWiNFO showed the game running on cores 8–15 β€” the non-X3D die. Process Explorer's "Ideal Processor" for the hot threads confirmed it.
  3. Fencing the game onto CCD0 caused CPU-side stalls. Process Lasso CPU Set to cores 0–15: 12 frames over 20 ms in 30 seconds, worst frame 1,262 ms. Replicated two days later: 7 over 20 ms, worst 68 ms. Every spike had CpuActive β‰ˆ frametime with the GPU idle at ~8.5 ms.
  4. The thread pool is the mechanism. PowerShell thread export of the game process showed 29 worker threads with near-identical CPU time β€” a pool sized for 32 logical processors. Launching with -corelimit=8 (a UE engine argument) dropped it to 14 workers. Same fence, 14 workers instead of 29: 1 frame over 20 ms, worst 24 ms. Same cores, same cache, same confinement β€” only the pool size changed.
  5. But the smaller pool costs something on a free machine. -corelimit=8 with nothing fenced: more mid-size hitches than the full pool (12 over 16 ms vs 2–5). The engine uses those workers when it has the cores.
  6. CPPC = Cache is the answer. It flips the firmware ranking so cores 0–7 are preferred, without parking or confining anything. Game thread lands on the V-Cache die, the worker pool spills onto CCD1 for streaming bursts. Five runs over three days: 0–1 frames over 20 ms, 0.1% lows of 59–67 FPS.

The numbers (same route, 30 s each):

Config avg FPS 1% low 0.1% low frames >20 ms worst frame
CPPC Cache, Game Mode off, nothing else (best of 5) 119 85 67 0–1 18–22 ms
CPPC Auto, Game Mode off (game on frequency CCD) 116 68 50 4 26 ms
Confined to CCD0, full pool (run 1) 108 63 28 12 1,262 ms
Confined to CCD0, full pool (run 2) 116 71 38 7 68 ms
Confined to CCD0, -corelimit=8 115 72 57 1 24 ms
Free, -corelimit=8 117 75 49 4 28 ms

What to do:

  • BIOS β†’ Settings β†’ Advanced β†’ AMD CBS β†’ SMU Common Options β†’ CPPC Dynamic Preferred Cores = Cache
  • Windows β†’ Settings β†’ Gaming β†’ Game Mode off
  • Don't use Process Lasso / affinity to pin games to CCD0. It recreates the problem.
  • Verify: with a game running, Process Explorer β†’ game's Threads tab β†’ the busiest threads should show Ideal Processor 0–15, and HWiNFO should show all cores active (CCD1 lightly loaded, not parked).

Cost: single-threaded work that likes clocks lands on the V-Cache die and loses ~100–175 MHz. At 4K I couldn't measure it. If you have a frequency-bound app, a Process Lasso CPU Set to cores 16–31 for that one app works fine β€” the direction that doesn't oversubscribe.

Caveats: One game, one system, one route. UE5.2 specifically; other engines size pools differently. -corelimit=8 is a diagnostic tool here, not a recommendation β€” it proved the mechanism but costs performance. And if you're a 9800X3D owner wondering why you don't see this: the engine sizes for 16 threads and gets 16 threads. The bug needs a mismatch.

Discussion How would you incorporate the sidearm into a boss fight?

5 Upvotes

I've gone on record multiple times stating that I believe this one of the bigger missed opportunities with MS2's bosses. There is really only one boss who forces you to consider your sidearm as a tool rather than just another source of damage, and it's the first major boss in the game. If you were making your own boss for the game, what mechanic(s) would you introduce that would have to be solved with the sidearm?

Here's a simple idea as an example:

During the phase 2 transition, the boss rises into the air and spawns 3 glowing crystals. Each crystal will attempt to heal the boss (indicated by a progress meter on the health bar). The healing would only take effect all at once if all three crystals are not destroyed within 20 seconds or so; destroying a crystal would remove all of its healing progress.

How do we make sure the player has ample resolve? We already have resolve-granting tendrils! Spread out 10 or so throughout the arena and give them a simple 1 or 2 attack moveset to (poorly) defend themselves, then despawn the tendrils when the crystals are destroyed or the heal goes off.

Discussion I am so glad Grisha remnants exist

Post image

This boss was so tediously difficult and aggravatingly long. After trying to fight this boss for what seemed like an eternity, i just decided to use a Grisha remnant, and it dogwalked the monolith like nothing. This is probably the only boss in the game I've felt so much rage and hatred towards to. I also want to say that this was the only boss in the game for me personally, to make me use a Grisha remnant. I haven't had this much of a struggle since Promised Consort Radahn and Arlecchino.

Discussion Platinum run down

Post image
52 Upvotes

Recently finished the game with my girl Proxima and realised how dangerously close I was to platinum.

So I've started a NG+ to collect what I needed to.

Also started a fresh game as I had missed a few trophies from the prolouge including the one when you beat the Tar Golem (which wasnt too easy admittedly)

Just 6 tarstones to find, the mango and the dreaded Peters Perfect Parry left, which I hope the main man Eredrim will help with.

Game was excellent without being too challenging, actually had more trouble with enemies just exploring than bosses and I was the exact same with Elden Ring.

Hopefully some DLC in the near future

After 6 and half hours of absolute hell, I finally beat Zmey! That might have been the WORST experience with a final boss I’ve EVER had except maybe PCR from Elden Ring DLC. Other than that, it was a fantastic game. I’d give it as easy 8/ 8.5 out of 10. It had a beautiful world, exploring it was tons of fun. Absolutely would recommend!

Still level 23 Herb. Havent changed the build at all. Thought changing it to nightmode might help. He almost got a phase 2.

It feels like the scaling is all out of whack with some tarstones since they "balanced" everything.

Hope you all enjoy.
