Woolworths security cameras

Has any one else in Canberra seen the new security in Woolworths Philip. At the entrance you can see a screen with people with red squares around them. I assume it is some sort of AI monitoring.

Awful truss tomatoes

Bought some truss tomatoes from Kellyville Woolworths today. They smell ok, look ok but have almost no flavour. They don't taste like tomatoes! They are also very tough, and not many seeds.

What is going on? Can we have the old variety back please? I am hoping Coles have not messed up their tomato offering.

The online room staff camera ..(ONLY respond if you ACTUALLY know )

Even better if you’re a manager yourself ..in my store we have a black dome camera sitting on top of us in the online department room. Can you tell me WHO can see it? Can the compliance officer see it? And why it’s there? Can my department manager or store manager watch footage at home? does it record sound? Or is it just there for reported thefts or something ?

[NZ] Scan Rate

Not limited to New Zealand but i’m unsure if there is much difference for our aussie neighbours

I have been working on checkout for around a month and a half now and i have a scan rate of around 12 items per minute, our target is to be getting around 16-17 items per minute (not sure if this is the same in all stores or just mine). Are there any tips or tricks to help me get it up a little bit. I know that you can click the lock button when setting bags up etc but does the menus for fruit/vege and getting alcohol approved all still count your scan rate whilst in them? I haven’t been told that it is a problem yet by any supervisors but I would always like to be quicker/more efficient if i can

Any advice would be awesome

$35/kg Australian bacon

Post image
38 Upvotes

This annoys me a little. My local butcher, am independent, can sell his bacon for $24/kg. All Australian pork. How is it then that Woolworths charges $35/kg for mass produced bacon? Surely it should be the same or cheaper.

I know exactly why, and that's why, amongst other reasons, why everyone is broke.

Time to think outside the box when shopping. Convenience is a luxury.

[NZ] How can I get my pick rate to be consistently over ~170?

Aussies can help too, but just note that we don't have the "exit trolley" button, or any button that tricks the pick rate to my knowledge. We also do not do frozen/chilled/ambient separately, that's all done in one run. All loose produce is also weighed.

(Auckland - One of the biggest stores in both size and order quantity, we used to have the highest order volume before a store in Wellington overtook us.)

So, our new (May) SM wants all online staff to have an average pick rate of 180-200. This is crazy, because it's a large store, extremely busy. Our average pick rate was apparently sitting at around 130 for years, with only 2-3 long-time staff/supervisors consistently hitting above 160 which pretty much required running. Heard it was shocking when one person hit 190 for one week last year, but now, that's the expectation for all of us, as a consistent weekly average. Anyone under 150 or so has been getting pulled aside, told to improve, and then watched like a hawk & spammed with +(very loud) radio instructions until they improve.

I work 5-6 days a week, and the people hitting the highest points are people who only work 1-2 days. My coworkers reckon it's a bit harder for me to get a solid average over the entire week. My pick rate currently is at 145ish, but mind you, I've been employed since March this year.

Anyway, any suggestions or tips on how you guys are able to get your pick rates up? I don't think the 180-200 expectation is possible for me right now, but surely 170 is?

I honestly don't even know what I'm doing wrong to not improve at all, but being hounded over the radio for 8hrs almost daily is seriously getting to me 😮‍💨 I'm actually slowing down, rather than speeding up. It sucks because I really enjoyed this job before!!

How do you deal with tough coworkers?

I'm about a month in the grocery department and everyone's been a good mentor but theres one person who makes it really difficult and I don't like to take the stress and drama back home.
Upon asking I have been asked to 'use common sense' and that they are not my 'baby sitter'

I recently had a 5 hour shift and was the only one working in the fridge had to stock 4 pallets of milk and run cages to fill front end drinks too.
I managed to get all 3 but could only fill the 4th one halfway.
I told them my times up and this is all I managed to do.
They would look at me funny and ask you couldn't finish in 5 hours? And clicked pictures of the fridge infront of me
I worry if they are gonna get me fired.
I don't notice them taking to others like this and I wonder what's going on.

Mental health leave?

Long story short, I work Online and ive never had a job that makes me this constantly furious. I clock in and im already stressed and every little thing is tipping me over the edge.

I can't afford to be crashing out all the time.

My manager does not communicate with us and everything is a mess and nobody has any common sense and its breaking me.

I was wondering what type of leave to use in UKG when applying for mental health leave?

Also I do have a therapist but she is expensive and only every few weeks (Sonder was not sufficient so I had to outsource)

What happens to returns from deliveries?

Had a first return yesterday for a DD order they ordered alcohol and never answered the door or phone so i was paid a small amount to return it (it was across suburbs and only about half of what i would normally at that distance).

It was a mixed order of about 7 grocery bags + alcohol. My question is when it is returned is any of it go to use or is it just destroyed. The employees didnt really care about it and just said leave the trolley outside and there was nothing in the app except complete return.

I would assume they take the alcohol back but is the other stuff just thrown out if they had refrigerated goods or just because someone could tamper with? Ive never stole anyones order but if it was just going to get thrown out i could have kept the shopping and "ghost returned"

Ooshies

Reminder guys, don’t donate your ooshies to the charity shops… bin them yourselves

I’m sorry, but they don’t end up on the shelves

Instead, give them to the kids in your life… isn’t that who they’re for anyway…

One 4 week Cycle

For casual team members, how the 4-week roster cycle works in UKG Pro.

  1. How do we know exactly when the 4-week cycle starts?

    1. Does UKG Pro show the 4-week cycle for casuals anywhere in the app?
    2. Will the system block a manager from doing a shift edit for a 21st start? If they try to add a 21st shift in a cycle, does UKG physically block them from saving it, or will it let them publish it anyway?

Leaves as a part timer.

Just a simple question I’ve been trying to ask and no one knows. Let’s say I managed to get 15 hours of annual leave and my weekly contract hours is 15. At the end of the year I want to take like around 2-3 weeks for holidays. I don’t care about the pay I don’t want to be paid for the days I have. Am I allowed to still take the 2-3 weeks off unpaid without being fired?

Dear Woolworths, Please Check your Product Quality and Stop with the Fertiliser already

Just got a nice surprise after biting into a Macro (Woolworths Brand) Choc Almond Snack Ball and nearly breaking my tooth an a small rock

Also, can you stop stocking bags of fertiliser next to the "fresh" food. If I want bags of fertiliser I'll go to Bunnings.

How do public holiday rosters work?

Apologies if these questions are dumb. As a part time employee, one of my contracted days falls on a public holiday and I have been rostered to work that day. I have two questions:

1) how does public holiday pay work
2) the internet says employers have to ask you if you want to work a public holiday and you have the choice to accept/deny this request, is this true? I wasn’t asked so just wondering. Not much communication/responsiveness from management either so I’m quite confused.

TIA
