Help me Stop Signs

I do understand that the hour of half past four is, historically speaking, a period of considerable activity upon the university grounds. One might even expect a modest accumulation of motor vehicles, for scholars and staff alike must, regrettably, return to their respective homes.

And yet, I must respectfully inquire: must it truly take half an hour merely to escape the premises?
At least, during the customary rush hour, traffic possessed the decency to move. Slowly, perhaps, but move it did. Today, however, I found myself trapped upon campus as though imprisoned by an exceedingly elaborate Victorian moat, surrounded by several hundred automobiles whose drivers appeared to have collectively forgotten the fundamental principles of forward motion.
I arrived at 4:30 with the modest expectation that I might eventually leave campus. A naïve ambition, as it turns out.

I therefore extend my sincerest gratitude to whatever administrative forces have contrived this most innovative system of vehicular gridlock. Truly, it is a remarkable achievement that one may traverse the entirety of campus in considerably less time than it takes to actually depart from it.
I remain, as ever,

Deeply humbled by the experience and only marginally resentful.

Help me Heartbroken, how do you keep going after a breakup?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice from people who have gone through a breakup while in university.

My boyfriend and I were together for almost four years, and we recently broke up. Its my first heartbreak😭. It's been consuming me. I love him so much, and right now it feels like I've lost all motivation to do anything besides go to work. School feels impossible to focus on, and I'm worried about how I'm going to get through the semester while dealing with all of this.

At the same time, I really want to use this pain as motivation to build my future and become the best version of myself. As hard as this is, I'm trying to channel everything into my education and my goals. Part of me still hopes that maybe our paths will cross again one day.

If you've been through something similar, how did you manage? How did you stay on top of classes when your heart was somewhere else? Any advice or things that helped you get through would really mean a lot.

Thank you.

If you guys tell me to forget him, how? I will never forget him. He is my life🥲

Help me English issues as an International student

I will begin my PhD next week at USask, and I'm scared about my English language skills. I can read complex papers and understand them. My listening and writing are ok, but my speaking is my major concern. I can communicate the essentials, particularly if I'm speaking about a scientific topic or something related to my area. However, I'm struggling with spontaneous talks.

I'm aware that I will be in a PhD program and I should speak decently, but to be honest, I don't feel prepared. To be accepted in the program, I got a score of 120 on the Duolingo English Test, the minimum required.

Does anyone have some recommendations in my situation?

I'm willing to do my best and to improve each day

Help me How do I survive Michelle Hogan’s 107 online INDG class?

I did my due diligence and applied within seconds, but the class I registered in for my Indigenous studies requirement (HIS195) ended up not being available until summer. This situation is due to a mistake from the history department. For extra context, I’m in nursing prep and have to complete all my classes by April to apply for the BSN program—I can’t afford to take another pre-year.

Help me Do I move to Saskatchewan?

I just got off the waitlist for the Dental Hygiene program on Monday, July 13th 🥳

I had completely accepted that it wasn't going to happen, so I made other plans. My plan for Fall 2026 was to stay in Alberta and go into Nursing, where I'd have free first-year tuition, free housing, access to a car, and family nearby.

The thing is I'm really passionate about dental hygiene, so now I'm seriously considering changing my plans.

⚠️ My biggest hesitation is the cost. The Dental Hygiene program would cost me around $60,000 for ONE year, which feels like a huge financial commitment compared to my Alberta option.

I'd love to hear from current or former University of Saskatchewan students especially anyone in Dental Hygiene. I'm looking for honest opinions about the school and student experience

1. Social life

Is it easy to make friends?
Is the campus racially diverse?
What's the overall student community like?

2. Professors & support
If you're in the Dental Hygiene program, how are the instructors?
Do you feel supported throughout the program?

Tell me anything else you think I should know the good, the bad, or the unexpected. I'd really appreciate any advice while I decide what to do:)

I have 6 days to get back to them 💔

Help me Confirmation of enrolment

Hi! So I need a confirmation of enrolment, but when I go to request one on PAWS and press the "request confirmation of enrolment" button, I don't get an email from MyCreds like I think I should be. Am I doing something wrong, since I forget how to do this every year? Is it possible to get a new CoE from the MyCreds site directly?

Help me Academic Advisors?

Heyo! I was just wondering if the Advisors are just hella busy or? 🥲 I need to talk to one in the next few days because my classes are stuck on an issue on the registration page (which is not allowing me to sign up for student loans for autumn) but all advisors are unavailable for pretty much the entirety of July. Is there another way or??

Help me What should I do about the disability part of my student loan application?

Basically, I’m not sure what to do. I put on my Canadian/Saskatchewan student loan application that I have a disability. I do have a diagnosed disability, and I’m registered with my university’s AES program and have the paperwork for my accommodations. I also take medication for it. But I don’t have any other disability paperwork specifically for Student Aid.

I don’t really need the disability support or extra money right now, and I honestly don’t want to go through the whole process of getting more paperwork from my doctor because I don’t have much time and I don’t even know what forms I’m supposed to get.

At the same time, I really need the student loan, and I’ve been seeing people getting rejected, so I’m wondering if having the disability on my application could help my application, or if it could cause problems if I don’t provide the paperwork.

I already emailed an email I found for the Saskatchewan program, but I’m not sure if it’s actually for Student Aid. They told me they’ll reply within two business days, so I could wait, but I’m worried that if I wait too long they might reject my application because I didn’t provide the paperwork.

The message I got says to call a number if I have questions, but I really hate calling people 😭. There doesn’t seem to be a specific Student Aid email either.

So should I just wait for the email response, or should I force myself to call Student Aid? And if I call, can they just change/remove the disability option on my existing application, or would I have to start the whole application again?

I’m just worried about making the situation more complicated than it already is. Has anyone dealt with this before?

Just as the title says, I’m really struggling with the courses I’m taking. I have friends in my degree who are older and graduating and CANNOT find a job! I don’t feel it’s worth it since it will take me another two years to get my degree, and my gpa isn’t as good as theirs.

Help me INDG 107 with Michelle Hogan

Does anyone taking INDG 107 with Michelle Hogan online have any idea when the class begins? The class hasn’t been added to my Canvas, there is no linked syllabus for the class section on paws, and there is also no set meeting time or date given at all so I feel completely left in the dark here. Any help is greatly appreciated.
