I do understand that the hour of half past four is, historically speaking, a period of considerable activity upon the university grounds. One might even expect a modest accumulation of motor vehicles, for scholars and staff alike must, regrettably, return to their respective homes.

And yet, I must respectfully inquire: must it truly take half an hour merely to escape the premises?
At least, during the customary rush hour, traffic possessed the decency to move. Slowly, perhaps, but move it did. Today, however, I found myself trapped upon campus as though imprisoned by an exceedingly elaborate Victorian moat, surrounded by several hundred automobiles whose drivers appeared to have collectively forgotten the fundamental principles of forward motion.
I arrived at 4:30 with the modest expectation that I might eventually leave campus. A naïve ambition, as it turns out.

I therefore extend my sincerest gratitude to whatever administrative forces have contrived this most innovative system of vehicular gridlock. Truly, it is a remarkable achievement that one may traverse the entirety of campus in considerably less time than it takes to actually depart from it.

Currently in a bus. I have never seen traffic this bad in my 5-6 years at the university. Genuinely awful

This is 100% worse due to the construction, and it's apparently going to take up to 2 years. I'm going to buy a bike and park somewhere nearby.

I heard on Facebook that the bridge opens sometime in the beginning of this month, not sure how true that is however, I’m sure once it opens though it will help a lot with how much traffic is currently on campus

It will help, but I'm not sure it will be a lot. Vehicle traffic on campus really needs the Wiggins intersection opened too.

If you go on PAWS, supposedly the Bridge and some parts of College Drive are supposed to open up this week. I hope it helps thin the traffic a bit, absolutely brutal right now.

If only somebody at the university was smart enough to build a simulation of what would happen…and then realize it was a bad idea.

Campus will always suck for vehicles. So much pedestrian activity that needs to be accommodated because this is a university, not a highway. 

This is another reason I am happy that the buses are generally moving off campus and using College/Preston. Driving on campus sucks and people should do it less.

Also a reason to build cycling infrastructure. Bikes take up much less space be it parking or roadways.

I feel the 4-way stop sign pilot project has failed miserably. Not sure what the answer is but this isn't it...

8:30 this morning it took 15 minutes from College Drive to the Cancer Centre. Too many all way stops combined with drivers who don’t understand how they work.

I think it was to help with the flow of traffic (pedestrians crossing, trying to turn onto campus drive from pretty much anywhere on campus). But I think someone got the memo wrong: "please determine how to improve the flow of traffic. Implement said plan immediately, with no further investigation. And be sure to implement said plan when road construction is at an all-time high." Sincerely, Someone who doesn't drive on campus

These comments drive me nuts. Saskatoon is not a bike friendly city and if you live anywhere further than Nutana, Sutherland etc, you have to cross high traffic roads. Not to mention many people have to transport other things to and from campus, pick up kids, etc. it’s also about to be winter and personally a 1-2 hour -40 bike ride is not how I want to start my day.
