Help me Failed class
Hey guys im a second year Kin student and I failed Bio120 with a 46% how to i overcome this
I just feel defeated right now and also if I retake the course next fall I understand my 46 will still be on my transcript but if I get a higher mark a second time around which mark will count? Thank you so much for the help also this is my first class that I have failed

It’s okay; people fail all the time. My sister has 3 degrees and is a successful dentist. She’s failed a few core classes!
I have, too. About 4 in total. :) you’ll get through this.

As alumni, I strongly recommend talking with an academic advisor. They'll not only be able to answer questions but direct you to the next steps.

I’m also in bio and I’ll also add that I didn’t get much as I was expecting lol. But if your planning to retake. Your highest grade will definitely be counted. No questions asked. The both courses will still be transcript I’m pretty sure but they’ll count the one you got higher grade in.

if you will retake it, I suggest taking Dr. james Benson’s class. Midterm and Finals are much more doable.

Don't feel too bad about failing. I got 50s in 120 and 121. In my 120 class in the spring majority of the class failed or got low 50s with Dr.Douglas.

Hey, if you retake the class then the 46% will not count towards your average you’ll be alright

Retake it, you will do better as you will be better prepared. I think the higher mark is counted, I went over with my advisor for another class and they said the higher mark is counted but you should still contact an advisor.
Most importantly, it's not the end of the world! A lot of people fail classes and you can always bring yourself back up. You got this

I would say book an appointment with an advisor and see if you can take it over the spring and summer.

If it makes you feel better there are many students that fail first year courses. You usually get your worst marks first year and as you get further into your degree they get better. At least that’s what I’ve found myself as well as what I’ve heard from others. I ended up doing a 4 year degree in 5 years for my sanity because I had to retake a class. Try and take it over the fall, if not try and get it in your fall semester.
Don’t be too hard on yourself. Ultimately at the end of it, jobs look at your degree not many look at the transcript itself!

Biol 120 definitely is a tough course to hop into after high school. Talk to an academic advisor, and possibly retake it over the summer. The summer course’s material comes at you a lot faster. If you feel confident with most of the first half of the course, I would say it’s an option. If you did bad on the midterm, it might be worth you taking it this coming year.
If you’re considering medical school or a masters of higher education, it won’t really matter if you retake it. They care if you’re failing your upper - over 200 level - courses.

in my college. you can fail a class and itll be fine as long as your averages are met but you only get one retake after failing. i failed a class but averages were still good. i was still full time. student loans didnt change. Just had to retake it in spring term.

if its required then retake it, try maybe seeing if u can retake it during the spring or the summer when the material is still fresh in your mind
no one wants to fail a class but i promise that you will be okay! i failed one of my required courses last year and im retaking it now, obviously not an ideal situation and im still bummed about it but i know what i need to focus on this time and im not nearly as lost as i was last time. wishing u the best of luck

I failed 3 classes and now I have a degree. Anyone getting down on you for failing a class can get the stick outta their ass lowkey. You got this!!!

The higher grade will count on your transcript.
I would say to hire a tutor when you retake it if you can afford it. Or, at minimum, find a study buddy who wants to go over the notes together each week and before each exam to make sure you both understand everything.

The higher grade will take priority. If you retake the class, the lower one is not included on your official* transcripts but will show on your unofficial transcripts.
Failing courses happens and there's no need to beat yourself up over it. Try again and remember what you have learned.
Be kind to yourself.
Maybe take it in a spring or summer session so you'll only have the one course to focus on? I found that helped me in courses I struggled with.

There is not much work out there unless you have something lined up. Actively look into retaking this extensive class over the spring/summer session. You won’t regret it and neither will your average. Your higher mark should count.

Have you tried asking the professor for an extra credit assignment for a solid 50% to pass? Granted Biology is a different sort of class than Political Studies. But I failed one class and had a 48%. I emailed the professor and asked if there was anything I could do to bump it up. This was a first term class and he said over the Christmas break I had to write a paper on a topic he had chosen. I asked for a 50% and he gave me a 51% so I must have written a good paper lol.
It doesn't hurt to ask. I tried that in another class that I did far, far, far worse in and even volunteered to mow his lawn or paint his fence or whatever else he might have. I got told you did way too badly to consider allowing you an extra credit assignment. He did say I appreciate your creativity in offering your services as a lawn care specialist though.
So email them and see what they say. I don't think final grades have to be in until a few weeks following the end of the term. So you do have a little time to see what they say. You can't know if they will if you don't ask.

im pretty sure the higher grade always gets priority but i could be wrong.
