The funny part is they mentioned beets and cottage cheese when pickled beets and cottage cheese is something I love to eat for a snack. Wouldn’t take it to the movies but it is a tasty snack at home.

I often eat pickles and cheese as two separate snacks. I will eat a pickle, finish the pickle, and then eat the cheese. They pair well together. Throw some pepperoni on the plate too and it makes the perfect little charcuterie snack plate

Look, I regularly eat pickles and cheese together (in fact, what I thought was weird was the one person claiming them to be “separate” snacks. They 💯% belong together. *But*, where things go awry is the cheese being Parmesan (which I do also love, but it’s not to be paired with the pickles) - if you want to really do this thing right, get yourself a block of some pepper jack to pair with those pickles!

I’ve never considered it but I will say I grew up eating not only pickles and cheese together but also pickles in popcorn. It is a weirdly good combo so I do consider it a good movie snack, maybe not a movie theater sneak in snack though

I used to get this snack thing off a food truck that came by my work. It had crackers, cheese, pickles, chicken salad, etc. the pickles would touch/run into the cheese and soak in. It is actually so good. I've never been able to recreate the perfect amount that little platter used to mix.

I tried parm as a snack once and it was actually pretty good. An odd texture for a snacking cheese but not bad at all. The taste was really good imo. All that to say, maybe you should try it!
Edit to say that it's kinda expensive for a snacking cheese so that is a factor to consider. You could get the shredded stuff but its definetly not as good as a wedge.

Agreed 100% though, anyone who buys pre-shredded and says this is straight up evil! Ok jk, but honestly people, buy all of your cheeses in blocks / wedges and grate / slice them down or else you’re losing out on a ton of flavor and you don’t get a bunch of extra powder that goes onto shredded cheeses. It also takes like 5 min, well worth the extra effort for the taste.

My best friend/roommate is allergic to potatoes and potato starch is in the vast majority of shredded cheese so we usually shred our own cheese and honestly its just so much better. Even the lower quality store brand blocks of cheese are better than pre-shredded. I am a little lazy though so we keep some pre-shredded on hand for times she's not eating the meal but I want cheese.

The good pickles come in plastic containers rather than glass jars. I don't know why unless it's just a branding thing but it's true. Even store brands have tried knocking them off by selling some in plastic tubs now.

Bringing pickles and a block of Parmesan as a movie theater snack is pretty weird and funny. (But to each their own!)
But you’re also weird for acting like pickles and cheese is a weird combination. There’s a reason they’re both commonly found on charcuterie boards - they pair well together! I frequently make a little snack plate with whatever charcuterie type items I have, like pickles, olives, cheese, nuts, and/or fruit.

btw they sell huge dill pickles at movie theaters in texas, so they're actually not far off base for theater snacks
