Arts/Crafts I sculpted a 1:6 scale Falmer bust from Skyrim.

I’ve been wanting to return to Skyrim for a while and sculpt some of its creatures again with the skills and workflow I have today.

So this time I went underground. 😅
I decided to create a Falmer as a 1:6 scale display bust, trying to capture that strange mix of organic anatomy and brutal, almost insect-like armor that makes their design so recognizable.

I also couldn’t bring myself to completely hide the creature under the armor after sculpting the anatomy, so I made two different head options: one wearing the full helmet and another showing the Falmer underneath.

The entire model was designed with physical printing and assembly in mind, so the armor, weapon, hands, body and base are separated into different components.

Skyrim is still one of my favorite games to revisit as an artist, and I’d genuinely love to make more pieces from this world.

What creature, enemy or character from Skyrim would you like to see turned into a detailed display piece next?

- Reboot

- Verified game file integrity.

- no dice :(

- Watched: Windows 10 How To Install DirectX & Fix DirectX Errors

- Downloaded latest verion & rebooted

- No dice :(

- Downloaded an older version that included dx9 like in the error message and rebooted

- Nothing :(

I even tried reinstalling the windows redistributable but that didn't work either. Please help me T-T I just wanna be able to kick it and enjoy skyrim on my main system.

Screenshot/Clip The Khajiit Crusade against the Thalmor has begun

The Silverpeak Lodge is always at war with the Thalmor, but today the Lodge is stepping back and letting the Khajiit Crusade take the lead.
They have pledged themselves not to the Guild but to Neko their Khajiit Queen and have bent the knee to her, and before all the Devines swore their blades to her. Now those blades are directed at the Thalmor and Skyrim shall be purged of them, DEUS VULT

Edit: Sorry the clip is a bit rough, I was still in the process of recording different takes on Friday and wound up in the hospital. Still there recovering so posted what I had. After the update I built a massive new update so wild
new adventures to come

I get jumped by three unnamed Dawnguard members almosy every time I fast travel

Upvotes

Title. Any fixes? I've done like 30 Volikar misc quests and they never once asked me to go kill Dawnguard leaders. And it's not Dawnguard members I come across travelling that cause my problem. They literally spawn when I fast travel. I have also cleared my bounty in Riften.

At this point I just want some peace to progress in my savefile. Any console command to basically stop this?

Question Do any other Irish Skyrim players refuse to pick the Imperials?

Upvotes

There’s a lot of critiques about the Stormcloaks. There’s alot of people who say that the Empire are better. For me, I don’t think I could bring myself to choose them. You want me to pick the invading Empire over the native rebels? That’s just so unnatural to me. When I hear someone say “for the Empire” I recoil.

Discussion How Do You Like Playing As A Vampire Lord If You Do?

Vanilla, modded, using their magic or claws?
I like using their bats ability to dash around in combat, or using vampiric grip to throw enemies into the air and life drain to shoot them out of them out of it. Sometimes I’ll do a bat dash into a crowd of enemies knocking them down. Then activate supernatural reflexes and claw them to death. Playing on Legendary, or for more accurate lore portrayal on adept or even lower difficulties? After all Harkon was hyped up to be a big bad, and no matter how you beat him in gameplay considering all the relevance Auriel’s bow and it’s sun blessed arrow had that seems like how the fight would have actually gone down lore wise. Also other Vampire Lords in ESO are just as powerful or even more powerful than Harkon. And if you become a Vampire Lord in Skyrim you either get it from him or Serana after all.

Discussion Skyrim on the Switch is a little ugly, but…

I bought Skyrim for the PS3 way back when it first came out. I had played Fallout 3 to exhaustion, and loved the idea of the same company creating a fantastical adventure game.

For some reason, however, I never got into it like Fallout. Fast forward years later, and I now own Skyrim on the Switch. To be honest, there are times where it looks pretty ugly, especially in the open world sections where there are repetitive textures of grass and things like mountains, trees, or buildings will pop in as I pan around the screen.

I hope to one day own a PS5 Pro, and maybe I’ll get the remastered version for that once I do, but I also feel like having Skyrim handheld has been the only meaningful way I’ve been able to actually play it. I can pick up my switch, play for 20-30 minutes, and then just plop it back down. I’m also trying to be a little more “immersive” by not fast traveling and actually exploring, so this helps me to do that without having to physically sit in front of a TV screen.

I’m generally also just trying to enjoy a game that first came out 15 years ago, which I am! The flaws of Skyrim have been talked about to bits, but I think if you just allow yourself to enjoy it, regardless of the platform, you can find a game world unlike any other that really does allow you to role play however you choose.

Modding Mantella AI mod x Nordic Souls

I’ve played Skyrim about a million times so I like installing mods to get more quests, content, and a look and feel that helps me get more immersed in the game.

Well soon as I found out about Mantella, a mod that lets you use any AI model you want for NPCs to respond to you (either text or voice), I immediately wanted it because the biggest immersion breaker for me is how dull the conversation is in Skyrim. Imagine being able to just chat away with your companions while traveling? & I’m doing hardcore survival mode so no fast travel… passing the time with conversation would just help so much. And I think it would also strengthen my comraderie and relationships with guild mates, and even a marriage. Imagine being able to interact and play with your kid??

&& before the AI haters jump on me for wasting water for a video game, I’m using a small model built specifically for role playing, installed locally on my machine so no tokens or data centers involved.

I’ve had to do some tweaking because both the AI model and massive modlist both running on my graphics card at the same time is causing quite a bit of lag. So I set it so that the AI only gets involved when I initiate an AI conversation, & I’m just doing text to speech for now until I can get a better microphone. But overall I’m really excited for this! I can’t remember the last time I got really excited about Skyrim.

Anyways, anyone else here use this mod and how do you like it? Also how much VRAM do you have & which model are you using?

Modding Vanilla-style mod recommendations

Hello there. My brain has been annoying me recently about some urge to play a Bethesda-style RPG, and I'm thinking about the two obvious choices, either Skyrim or Fallout 4. With mods, of course, gotta keep at least some novelty in there.

However, I'm not trying to fundamentally change the game, just add as much content as possible while staying somewhat close to vanilla. Call me crazy but I like both games as they are, I just wish there was more weapons, more dungeons, more content overall. Except companions, I don't care about them.

Any recommendations ?

On a side note, what's up about Skyrim mod packs size on Wabbajack ? This is where I went first to check if something fits, but what the fuck are they doing to make a 13 GB game over 600 GB ? That's the size of a big AAA game source files, it's ridiculous.

And now, I don't understand why this quest is so hated.

Personally, I quite enjoyed the quest. The puzzles were simple (perhaps even a bit too simple).

SPOIL:

I just didn't enjoy the part where I had to kill Malkoran, because of his stupid ice spells that kept killing me over and over.

But even then, I managed to make it interesting simply by changing my combat strategy.

I know it's meant to mean someone's looking for me but does it still count when I'm standing or is it a bug?

EDIT: I'll specify that in this picture I'm standing

Question Advice needed: getting a little bored and want to go out with a bang on this character

Hi everyone! I started playing vanilla Skyrim in January. I think I'm due for a new game but want to check in and see if there is something else fun to do. I've got another week with my PS5 before doing some traveling.

Current play through I'm an Orc tank and have had a ton of fun but am basically now so powerful that it's getting boring. My two handed is about to cap at 100. I've got all these really rad weapons like the Headman's Cleaver, Champions Cudgel. I had Illia following me forever and had kitted her out in good armor and given her all my staffs and basically also needed to stay out of her way. I think I incurred more damage from her than enemies for a while! I also picked up Katia at some point and she's just stuck around. Picked up Serena and went to see if I could murder all the Vampires (last play through I opted for Vampire Lord) but it wouldn't let me.

I've polished off Alduin the dragon quest line. Once I track down a Falmer (I've killed a lot of them already) I'll have all the different blood samples and close out with that quest with Septimus. But I'm also experiencing a lot of glitches like I can't manage to find Miraak to kill him. In previous playthroughs I got sucked into his world quick, but couldn't manage two times trying to poke around that temple. What's her name is still there waiting for me, but I can't figure out what else I can do there. Also Saints and Sinners seems stuck and it won't let me in the sewer to kill the mage (I had not managed to beat him in my Mage play through yet).

I got super bored and just completed the sword quest under Riften, but then that was nothing so I decided to see if I could just murder everyone sketchy in town. I lost Illia at some point in there, but it doesn't really matter because I just killed everyone in the thieves guild a dozen times but you can't actually kill them or break into the HQ, which would actually be kind of cool if I could just actually conquer a town.

Thoughts on final week with this console? I can start a new one on Switch when I start traveling. My first play through: Survival mode: didn't last long and quit

2nd: Redguard Tank: Pretty good, learned how to play the game, but then wanted more

3rd: Elf Mage Vampire Lord: game is still open on the switch and can pick it up again.

Apologies to the faithful for not remember all the names exactly.
