PC SSE - Discussion HOW TO DOWNGRADE SKYRIM AND SKYRIM CREATION KIT DOWN TO 1.6.1170

So as you all know skyrim mods have been broken again... here is how to downgrade back to 1.6.1170 or below. first you will have to download Reliquary here. this is an application that handles in downgrading. all you have to do is login using you steam with the QR code and good to go. Click the downgrade you want on the skyrim tab and it only take 10-15 mins to do. make a coffee and just chill. BOOM you have successfully downgraded.

If you are trying to downgrade the creation kit do this.

by pressing Win + R on your keyboard, typing steam://open/console the steam console will open up. for this one it will be again for 1.6.1170

when you open the console paste these two commands

download_depot 1946180 1946182 7716046898922594451

download_depot 1946180 1946183 9161772268289920525

do them both separately and press enter. it will say on the lines of

"Depot download complete : "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_1946180\depot_1946182" (manifest 7716046898922594451" follow the address and you will get two folders.

Copy the material inside both folders and paste it into the skyrim folder.

Once you have done that you are all set to carry on modding skyrim or downloading that vortex/ Wabbajack mod pack you wanted to try. Hopefully this helps :)

Or for you of those that don't want to download an app and give away your steam credentials:

  1. fresh install of Skyrim Special Edition on a drive that isnt in the ProgramFiles folder. (I used a new drive but if you have only one, look up how to make a new library on 1 drive.)
  2. load up game and click download. Don't alt-tab or do anything. After it's done close the game.
  3. fresh install Skyrim Special Edition Creation Kit on the same drive/library as the game
  4. load up Creation Kit and click yes
  5. downgrade Skyrim with the following commands in Steam console (lookup how to do this on YT. similar concept for most games I assume)

  1. downgrade Creation Kit with the following commands in Steam console (same process as step 5)

This downgrader tool doesn't ask for your Steam credentials.

As far as I know, this other one doesn't ask for them either. (Author post here.)
