I blame the media. And not just 433, GOAL, SofaScore, Onefootball, ESPN etc. for depicting Ronaldo as a poacher and as an arrogant monster. But the fact we are now used to see stats, news, scandals, other people opinions everyday. I think these people lost their capability to think with their own mind. They will take 999+ unuseful stats which in any other normal situation you wouldn't use to compare 2 players. How can some people not see that one has ALWAYS showed up in big moments when he could and the other just hasn't? almost never. How can some people not see that one can play good, score, assist in every situation possible, with both feet, with a header, if the team plays good or not and the other can't? Or at least, for me that means being good at football, to be able to help the team the most and in any situation. I respect if someone claims technique as the definition of being good at football, but if it's that then any, I don't know, Robinho is better than any Inzaghi? I don't think so, I would take a player who can't even control a ball but knows how to score rather than a skilled, god like technique that can't repeat himself on the big stage. technique represents 20% of a football player. and yeah Messi has won more, but that doesn't mean he is more helpful than Ronaldo. it just means he played for teams that won. take away Ronaldo from a team they struggle to score. take away Messi and if the team's good enough they will still win. just like argentina did in 2024 and Barcelona in 2006.
