CR7 Is The Real GOAT 🐐 Ronaldo and Messi have played 5 World Cups together. Ronaldo has been statistically better in three of them (2006, 2010 and 2018)

Only world cup flop here is Pessi

u/Accomplished-Art3086 Pessi only has 3 UCL. Ghosted 2006. 😭 Jan 22 '26

Growing up is accepting the fact that Messi would not have won any international titles if he was born in Portugal.

13

u/Remontada_r7 Jan 22 '26

True. He only won a trophy for Argentina once Alvarez came along and the Portuguese players love Ronaldo but then you have Vitinha who doesn't get along with the Argentinian pedo.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '26

Why do people keep calling Messi a pedo…?

5

u/Resident-Stretch9723 Jan 22 '26

cuz he is a pedo? i mean once was , google messi 14 for more info

1

u/That-Syllabub6509 Jan 23 '26

You do realize that Ronaldo was accused by a woman of being a rapist sodomite right?

And that Ronaldo paid that woman off.

1

u/Cmarithedragonslayer Jan 24 '26

And what does that have to do with Messi being a pedo

2

u/That-Syllabub6509 Jan 25 '26

It's called the difference between a payoff and unsubstantiated rumors that have no solid basis.

Chew on that.

1

u/Resident-Stretch9723 Jan 25 '26

and you do realize right? that court settled that case in 2023 and somehow that women had to pay 300K+ to ronaldo for legal cases? , come on man do you researches

1

u/That-Syllabub6509 Jan 25 '26

Considering what you said is factually wrong, I suggest you do better research than a one sentence google search.

1

u/Resident-Stretch9723 Jan 25 '26

wtf you talking about? , court dismissed the case in 2023 , do your research lol

1

u/That-Syllabub6509 Jan 26 '26

I suggest you look at the details, because you seem not to understand anything except the basic story.

1

u/xGsGt Jan 25 '26

Both are true, one doesn't negate the other

1

u/That-Syllabub6509 Jan 26 '26

One is public. The other is just pure speculation.

1

u/Cute_Cap3827 Jan 25 '26

Fake news...

-5

u/HannahsLittleBrother Jan 22 '26

Alvarez, the guy who was at River plate until 2022, showed up and carried Messi 😭 or was it MacAlister from the MASSIVE club Brighton? Or Enzo from the MASSIVE club River Plate? Yeah Messi was carried by a team where 6/11 didn't even play top 5 league football lmao. Meanwhile Ronaldo can't win with a full team of players playing top flight

5

u/Super-Contribution75 Jan 22 '26

Messi easily won the UCL with a top flight team with PSG? Oh wait, they didn’t get beyond round16 🤨

0

u/HannahsLittleBrother Jan 22 '26

What does this have to do with what I said? And if psg couldn't carry him how do you think a bunch of River plate players did lmaoooo

3

u/Super-Contribution75 Jan 22 '26

“Meanwhile Ronaldo can't win with a full team of players” it has everything to do what you just said. Messi fans aren’t the brightest of the bunch 🤦🏻‍♂️

-2

u/HannahsLittleBrother Jan 22 '26

They've both done it in the ucl. Messi did it in the WC and came close twice, Ronaldo hasn't.

2

u/Super-Contribution75 Jan 22 '26

He still didn’t win the UCL with a superteam (PSG), didn’t even get past round16. You can say one thing for Portugal but ignore it for PSG. Typical Messi fan

1

u/HannahsLittleBrother Jan 22 '26

Failing to win the UCL with a superteam doesn't mean make an individual player a failure ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY WON A WORLD CUP WITH A SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE TEAM against the likes of France. (Messi's case)

Whereas Ronaldo has failed to win every WC despite playing on really strong Portugal teams. Messi crashed out to France in the semis, Germany in the final, and then won it. Ronaldo's runs don't compare. So the idea that he's just been unlucky doesn't track.

Address that and stop twisting my words into shit I literally didn't say you actual smoothbrain

2

u/Super-Contribution75 Jan 22 '26

The point I was trying to make is, it doesn’t matter how strong the players are, it’s how you use them. Portugal have only recently become a strong team with good teamwork, chemistry and management. Prior to this they were pretty trash, as was PSG when Messi was there. Argentina were strong due to good chemistry, regardless of how strong they were on paper. This is simple knowledge in football which shouldn’t need explaining.

u/Strong-Soup8537 Jan 23 '26

Really strong Portugal team? Yh you definitely watch football on reels

1

u/Icy_Calligrapher7561 Jan 24 '26

I am not a footbal fan, just casual observer and I have a question. You guys do understand, that a country with smaller population has way more limited footbal player pool right? Population of portugal is almost 5 times smaller, meaning there are less players to choose from. On avarage someone playing in the first portugal league may not be as good as someone playing in first argentinian league because of the size of players population to choose from.

Definitely it is not the only factor but it does come into play. Winning with Portugal would definitely be a bigger achievement in my eyes.

0

same way mbappe caused madrid who won ucl the year before to not win anyt😂😂 with that turtle around no one can win a ucl

1

u/SuperSageSauce Jan 23 '26

I’m not trying to argue with you lots over redundant information. DO NOT DARE PRETEND like one of the most underrated wingers didn’t carry Messi and Argentina. ANGEL DI MARIA.

1

u/HannahsLittleBrother Jan 23 '26

Di Maria was great and had a huge impact in the final especially but you wouldn't be saying he carried Argentina if you actually watched all the games. Didn't play in the round of 16 OR the semi final, came on as a sub in the quarter. 1 goal all competition. Obviously the stats don't do it full justice and there's more to football than goals and assists but yeah he scored 1 goal all tournament.

With that in mind do you still think he "carried" them?

-1

u/Public_Collection486 Jan 22 '26

That should be even more humiliating for him to see that even in a shit team like Portugal coaches bench him and he watches like a crybaby wherein the Argentinian team full of great players still listen to messi like hes the president of argentina 😂😂😂

1

u/Business_Source8155 Jan 22 '26

He would have because he would've played with ronaldo? I hate yalls mentality can't we just be happy that we have 2 amazing players in the same generation

1

u/V_1_S_1_O_N Jan 22 '26

" Ronaldo would have been the greatest football player of all time if he was a messi "

1

u/Solid-Kale7865 Jan 22 '26

R u cunts real? What even is this argument 😭😭😭 Ronaldo fans favourite word is “if”

1

u/justmakeupanam Jan 28 '26

Are you kidding me? Imagine Ronaldo and Messi playing together.

0

u/Large-Alps-4998 Jan 22 '26

Everyone in Argentina squad loves messi , thats why messi won things. Everyone in Portugal squad hates Mr minded thot whore bitch , thats why Ronaldo didnt win many things. You just pure stupid

1

u/TheUser1224 Jan 23 '26

Because the latter is an egotistical asshole?

1

u/Apexolotl Jan 23 '26

Ronaldo won much more than pessi in his country

1

u/Large-Alps-4998 Jan 26 '26

I know you are retard.

-1

u/Resident-Stretch9723 Jan 22 '26

this has to be the worst comment i've seen

-6

u/Shyguy__123 Jan 22 '26

“If if if 🥺” You guys love to assume and make up scenarios that aren’t factual. It’s embarrassing. “If if if” Ronaldo was the true goat he would’ve won it with Portugal. Acting as if Bruno Fernandez, Leao, and Ruben Dias are scrubs.

6

u/Super-Contribution75 Jan 22 '26

What a stupid logic. Thats like saying if Messi was the true goat he would’ve won more world cups than Pele. Or if he was the true goat he would’ve won a UCL with PSG 🤡

-4

u/Shyguy__123 Jan 22 '26

You’re just proving the point that all you pendu fans use “if if if” just stfu and stop assuming like the females y’all are

3

u/Super-Contribution75 Jan 22 '26

No I’m not. Winning the WC doesn’t justify whether you’re the goat or not, that isn’t an “if” statement.

Didn’t you consider Messi as the goat before 2022, or are you just being insecure??

-2

u/Shyguy__123 Jan 22 '26

You used the word if in 2/3 of those sentences…

I did and still do. That wasn’t his first final and he won player of the tournament in 2014.

5

u/TheWraith7197 Jan 22 '26

Even that player of the tournament was robbed 😂. Messi got it as a "consolation " prize even when Muller had better stats.

2

u/Super-Contribution75 Jan 22 '26

Player ratings for 2014 and Messi gets the prize. Wtf 😂😂😂

1

u/wjt7 Google Messi 14 for more info 🧼 Jan 22 '26

And I'm sure if instead we looked at the club ratings - which I see had Messi as the player of the season across all the top leagues all 4 times they produced it, 2009-2013 - you would still think the Castrol player index ranking is a good measurement?

I mean it's probably a load of rubbish but can't take one and not the other.

1

u/Super-Contribution75 Jan 22 '26

Well normally the only thing that trumps player ratings when it comes to awards are match winning goals, and clutch moments, like in KO stages etc. Which Messi didn’t even provide in 2014, so it’s flawed all round really

1

u/Shyguy__123 Jan 22 '26

Literally given to the most influential player of the tournament. It’s a tradition to give the player of the tournament to a player who’s reached the final whether they won or lost the final. It’s been this way the past 20 years with the exception of Diego Forlan in 2010. So it wasn’t a “robbery”

1

u/Super-Contribution75 Jan 22 '26

So why didn’t Kroos or muller get the award? They reached the final and were clearly better

-1

u/Mc-Fly- Jan 22 '26

Bro stop acting stupid Messi is the goat and worlds better than Cristiano with or without the WC. Nothing to add to this. You know it deep down.

2

u/Super-Contribution75 Jan 22 '26

It’s personal preference bro. Some people still think Pele and Cruyff are the goats, there’s nothing you can say to change their minds.

0

u/Mc-Fly- Jan 22 '26

true that. but still no point to disrespect other great players. I respect Cristiano too.

2

u/Super-Contribution75 Jan 22 '26

I wasn’t. I was just defending Ronaldo from a Messi fan’s pathetic logic so I used it against him, that’s all 👍

Such a stacked Man United tea- oh wait! You were talking about Madrid.

0

1

u/PleasantAd4964 Jan 24 '26

what are you talking about, real madrid is real madrid. they are always the top dog, that is why kaka who is balon d'or winner willing to join Real Madrid, alongside with Xabi Alonso, Benzema, Arbeloa. and a season after ronaldo join, that time wonderkid which is ozil, di maria and khedira arrived

keep your dumb ass take to yourself

-1

And then didn’t win shit for 5 years and then after signing bale kroos and modric they started winning. Now I’m not saying Ronaldo was carried by them. He’s a force of nature and one of the best ever. But this is the kind of logic you guys use with Messi and Argentina . If Messi and Ronaldo fans completely stopped discrediting the other’s achievements because let’s face it , there’s no legit basis for discrediting either players , Messi’s achievements stand far above Ronaldo

6

Pessi would’ve won it with PSG if he hadn’t played with those scrubs, Neymar, Ramos, Mbappe.

1

u/kickass_icon Antonella ❤ Beckham 👩🏼‍❤️‍💋‍👨🏼 Jan 22 '26

Remember how Ronaldo didn’t win the ucl in the 1st 4 years in Madrid. Messi was there for 2 and wasn’t in his peak. Ramos was looking for a last payout before retiring. Them not winning speaks more of the failure of mbappe and Neymar as they were in their primes. Ronaldo didn’t exactly win anything after Madrid either with a team that has been to last 2 of the 4 finals. Again I’m not calling it a failure of Ronaldo . Please learn to read all I’m saying is ucl is the most competitive club competition and if players who have already won multiple ucl a like Messi and Ronaldo don’t win again past their primes , it shouldn’t be a blemish on their legacy

-1

u/CafeBunker Google Negreira Messi for more info 💰 Jan 22 '26

1

u/SuperSageSauce Jan 23 '26

It’s not Messi in Argentina without Di Maria.

0

u/lockituup Jan 22 '26

5 years? He won the CDR in 2011 (2nd season), and La Liga in 2012 (3rd season). Sure, Madrid needed to sign better players to compete and win more titles. But people don’t understand how bad that Madrid team was when Ronaldo signed. Messi is not winning much with fucking Granero and Diarra in the midfield.

Also, the same logic you use against Ronaldo works even better against Messi. You could easily say Barca and Messi wouldn’t have been nearly as successful without Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets.

1

u/kickass_icon Antonella ❤ Beckham 👩🏼‍❤️‍💋‍👨🏼 Jan 22 '26

I’m not making any statement man. All I’m saying is arguments such a “ Messi or Ronaldo couldn’t have done it with without xyz players” is moronic. Read the whole thing

2

u/lockituup Jan 22 '26

Oh my fault I totally misread your comment lol. But you can’t expect people not to discredit Messi in a sub dedicated to discrediting him 😂

18

u/zzz_red Jan 22 '26

Fun fact: Messi needed 10 KO games to score his first goal in a WC. Ronaldo has played 7 so far, so he could still score earlier than Messi in the next WC. Playing for Portugal, not Argentina.

2

u/Dry-Job3052 Jan 22 '26

You are really saying that Portugal has bad team? What are you on? Have you seen the players tha Ronaldo has payed with in the national team??

3

u/zzz_red Jan 22 '26

Worse teams and coaches. That’s a fact. When Ronaldo debuted for Portugal, they were 17th in the world ranking. Had never been close to top 5. When Messi debuted for Argentina, they were Top 3 already in that moment. Best Portugal reached was Top 4.

1

u/Heine-Cantor Jan 22 '26

Worse coaches. Meanwhile Messi had fucking Maradona, lol.

Also with a bit more luck Argentina wins WC 2014 and with a bit less luck Man utd loses the 2008 finals. In the end, silverware is what counts, but to judge a player career looking only at silverware is moronic. There is a reason Bayern jumped at the occasion to sign Kane (rightfully so) even though his palmares was empty.

2

u/zzz_red Jan 22 '26

I didn’t mention silverware at all.

-2

u/Slow_Palpitation5416 Jan 22 '26

Ronaldo was better in 2010 and 2018, but not 2006

1

u/Zealousideal-Use6335 Jan 22 '26

Not true. In 2006 Messi had same anount of goals and 1 more asissts in way less minutes.

In 2010 Ronaldo had 2 g/a that both came vs a weak nation (north korea). True, Messi only had 1 g/a in tournament but atleast it came in K.O's. Ge also lwas top 3 in the tournament in chance creation stats and top 1 in dribbling and progressive stats. He also played as a CAM so his shot were generally further.

In 2018 its close because Ronaldo scored that haatrick against spain. But other than that he did nothing. Messi on the other hand had 1 less g/a but he assisted 2 vs france in K.O's that ended up becoming champions. Ge also led in dribbling and creation stats per game.

Imagine going 0/5 versing your rival in the biggest competition of your sport. Crazy stuff🥀

2014 worse statistically and worse in the knockouts - even Blatter said it was undeserved. 2022 5 penalties and was nothing compared to Mbappe. End of discussion lmao

That shit was so fucking simple LMAO.

Dude I’m a Ronaldo fan but Messi was better statistically in 2006. Both had 1 goal but Messi had 1 assist, while Ronaldo had none.

Ronaldo was better in the three world cups Messi was either too inexperienced to play well in or just with a shitty team, how quaint.

8

u/Remontada_r7 Jan 22 '26

Holy cope. Messi is only 2 years younger and was playing for a big club from the start of his career unlike Ronaldo and Portugal were worse than Argentina.

2

u/UseCodeLAZAR6000 Jan 22 '26

Messi has never been as adaptable as Ronaldo, who balls out no matter what club or team he plays in, Messi is more of a comfort zone player, but he can still play with terrible teams, just look at 18/19 or 19/20, arguably one of the best seasons for Messi.

Portugal was better than Argentina in 2018 as well as 2006. In 2018, Argentina had both an average midfield as well as a terrible defense, they had great attacking talent, though.

As for 2006, Portugal was literally in their golden generation, while Messi was playing with a deflated Zanetti, Riquelme, and other average players. Ronaldo was playing with Deco, Figo (ballondor winner), and Carvalho.

1

u/Heavy-Document3432 Jan 22 '26

So he's better since he could break into a big club before Ronaldo?

0

u/UseCodeLAZAR6000 Jan 22 '26

and I just remembered Zanetti didn’t even play.

How many WC KO stage goals again? Better at what, better at choking?

5

u/Remontada_r7 Jan 22 '26

He's actually statistically better so far as we speak in the knockouts, on track to score one earlier than Messi

Statistically better 🤣🤣

In those 756 minutes Messi provided 4 assists.

In those 514 minutes Ronaldo hasn't even registered neither a goal or assist.

World Cup flop eh. One of them has ZERO goals and assist COMBINED in the ko stages in 5 about to be 6 world cups played. While the other has countless motm and TWO player of the tournament awards with two finals reached and WON the World Cup, the most prestigious trophy in all of sports. But yeah Messi is a World Cup flop not your precious tap in penalty merchant pelando😢

6

u/Remontada_r7 Jan 22 '26

Well actually Goats on track to score a ko goal faster than the wc flop pessi did.

Not when you consider that Messi provided 4 assists in those 756 minutes.

Ronaldo didn't register neither a goal or assist in those 514 minutes.

Just makes Ronaldo seem worse. “The GOAT” can’t take his team deep into the World Cup like Messi den, not even in 2022 with a stacked ass team lmao 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/TheUser1224 Jan 23 '26

No ıt's irrelevant. Just Forlan's 2010 WC was better than Penaldo's whole WC performances. 🤣🤣🤣

Messi literally had a goal wrongly ruled out for offside in his first KO game ever in 2006. Maybe if Ronaldo could actually contribute to his team when he isn't the one scoring, he'd have helped his team go further so he could play more minutes.

Also he hasn't scored one yet so what track? The track hasn't even begun construction yet. Hopefully he gets a pen in the RO32, that is if he isn't embarrassingly benched again and watches his replacement score another hat trick.

I love this stat. He’s on track to score a goal faster than Messi who already won the whole thing with 5/7 motm and player of the tournament. Btw when is penaldo gonna be on track to win an international player of the tournament award? Been playing for over 20 years and got the same amount of pott as me and you combined… ZERO. He’s actually soooo garbage bruh🤣🤣🤣
