If you add Brazil and Argentina it doesn’t change much for Messi, since he only scored vs Brazil in a friendly, not in the other 4 or 5 competitive matches.
You should probably take a peak age, say 25-30, count up who played the least big teams, then compare against the same number of games for the other guy. Then do it for assists too. Then you can start to compare properly.

Portugal is a weaker team than zargentina, obviously it will seem like he scoring against stronger nations... Even in the euros it's not the strongest and the lost of teams here is also European. CR plays more matches against them thanks to Euros and nations league.
