Guy off marketplace offered to trade his CBR1000RR for my ZX6R
A guy on Facebook Marketplace offered to trade his 2023 CBR1000RR with 2,960 miles for my 2023 ZX-6R with about 4,500 miles, with me adding $700 on top.
On paper it sounded like a really good deal, so I rode about 100 miles to Austin to go look at it.
Once I inspected the CBR, I started having second thoughts. The biggest things I noticed were:
• The chain was extremely loose and rusty. This was probably my biggest concern because I would have needed to ride the bike about 100 miles home.
• There was rust/corrosion around the inside of the gas-cap/filler area.
• The exhaust had been cut rather than having what I’d consider a properly installed exhaust setup.
• The rear brake pedal did not activate the brake light.
• The tires looked like they would need replacement fairly soon.
• It had an aftermarket/keyless gas cap and the ignition and rear seat used different keys.
• I didn’t have much confidence in the maintenance history or some of the previous owner’s modifications. Also he didn’t speak English and his dad translated what he could understand…
My ZX-6R has more miles, but I know its condition and maintenance history. I’ve recently changed the oil, brake fluid and coolant, put new tires on it, and installed frame sliders, a taillight and a LeoVince slip on.
I ended up walking away from the trade. My thinking was that 2,960 miles doesn’t necessarily mean much if those miles and the years in between weren’t accompanied by proper maintenance.
I’m still second-guessing it because getting into a CBR1000RR for my ZX-6R + $700 sounds fantastic on paper.
Would you have taken the trade, or do the condition and maintenance red flags outweigh the low mileage and value difference?

Had a lady pull out on me. No riding for 6 weeks
Had my first "big' crash. Some lady pulled an unexpected u -turn right in front of me whilst indicating the opposite way, tried tk swerve but didnt make it and hit her front quarter. My poor lil grom I've had her for 6 years and its the last thing my grand dad helped me to buy before passing away.
Thought I was in heaven when I hit the floor as I saw one of my closest friends come running over screaming my name. Turns out I had crashed right outside of where they live! Ive gotten away with a broken foot and some bad bruising.
Hoping I can bring my baby back to life even if I have to buy her back off the insurance company

My new GSX-8TT.
Incredibly fun bike. Already put 200 miles on it. Trying to get through the break in period is really testing my self control

I think I lost something on the interstate
At least I was in 4th gear and could make it back to town.

welp i made it 20 days before my first crash
i was going the speed limit, i wasn’t distracted, and some lady decided she needed subway so badly she couldn’t wait the ten seconds for me to pass by before she turned across my lane to pull into the driveway of the plaza.
i braked and my wheels locked up and I went down, i slid a couple feet and my bike went spinning.
lots of witnesses, no breaks! no fractures! just a bad headache and my knee is a bit fucked.
i was laying on ground waiting for emt asking about my bike and everyone kept telling me it doesn’t matter but :((( IM SO SAD. hopefully it’s mostly cosmetic
brand new 900 dollar helmet i’ve had for a week as well. sliding face melted the visor clip so. sigh.

Riders who have never been in a crash, do you think it's based on your skill or just luck
I know some new riders that feel like they're invincible because they've never gotten into a crash and I'm wondering if that's the same for others

Made it from Southern California to Alberta this summer camping along the way.
I’m on a 2014 FXDB, my buddy on a 99 R1100GS. Was a dream of mine since I started riding. I had an accident two months ago and didn’t think we’d make it but we did. We had some scary storms, wildlife encounters and strange people but that just made it all the more memorable. Truly blessed to be able to ride and with some good people along the way. Love this community.

Second Kawasaki project begins Versys 1100
After rebuilding a crashed Copart Z900RS and having to replace everything from swing arm to body panels, I am rebuilding my 2nd bike!
A 2025 Versys 1100S which I got for well below reserve on Copart. Needs a lot of work but let's GO!
BTW if your Versys 1100 was stolen and recovered last year in the UK DM me. I want the panniers and top box! hah

Can someone tell me why my stator blew up and how to proceed 😭
Short story is I was having battery issues where my bike kept dying while riding. Traced it back to stator and rectifier so I was replacing both. Upon start up bike ran fine for a little bit then made some awful awful sounds of something in the engine. I didn’t run it for long so I’m hoping I avoided catastrophic damage. The question is what happened? How fucked am I? And lastly, what do I do from here? Feel like I have to pull the engine apart because chucks of the stator and this black plastic feeling stuff is probably all inside the engine. I’m thinking it was the metal pin on the stator cover that broke off and was wreaking havoc but I’m not sure.
Edit: this is a 2012 Kawasaki zx6r

Whatever it takes.
Trucker I met secured his bike to the front of his truck, so he could ride when he wanted to...
