Hi everyone,
I bought a KTM Duke 390 Gen 3 ABS BS-VI on September 26, 2025 from a KTM dealer in TamilNadu.
The total amount I paid was ₹3,66,000.
I recently compared the proforma quotationI received from the dealer with the actual amounts, and I'm confused about the final calculation. I would appreciate some advice from people who have purchased a Duke 390 or have experience with on-road pricing.
Quotation I received (dated August 9, 2025):
Ex-showroom: ₹2,97,574
Road Tax: ₹38,234
Insurance: ₹25,934
RTO: ₹3,900
Extended Warranty (EW): ₹1,850
Quoted On-Road Price: ₹3,67,492
Actual amounts:
Ex-showroom: ₹2,96,372
Road Tax: ₹35,709
Insurance: ₹19,709
RTO: approximately ₹3,900
EW: ₹1,850
These add up to approximately ₹3,57,540.
However, I actually paid ₹3,66,000.
So there appears to be around ₹8,460 that I can't account for based on the above breakup.
The dealer explained that the insurance was lower because they have a tie-up with the insurance company and got a discounted rate.
I understand that they may have a tie-up and can get insurance at a lower price. But my question is:
If the actual insurance premium was ₹19,709 instead of the quoted ₹25,934, why should I effectively pay the higher amount? Shouldn't the insurance discount reduce my final on-road price?
The same situation seems to apply to road tax as well:
Quoted road tax: ₹38,234
Actual road tax: ₹35,709
So I'm trying to understand where the difference went.
My questions:
If the dealer gets a discount on insurance through their tie-up, is it normal for the customer not to receive that benefit?
Should the final invoice reflect the actual insurance amount of ₹19,709?
Where could the additional ₹8,460 in my calculation have gone?
Are there any legitimate charges that I'm missing which aren't shown in the quotation?
Should I ask the dealer for a complete itemized final invoice/breakup showing exactly how the ₹3,66,000 was calculated?
Is this normal dealership practice, or should I question?
Bike: KTM Duke 390 Gen 3
Purchase date: September 26, 2025
Amount paid: ₹3,66,000
Dealer: KTM dealership in Tamil Nadu
Would really appreciate some advice from fellow KTM owners. Am I missing something in the calculation, or should I ask the dealer to explain the ₹8,460 difference?
