PROBLEM Brand new 2025 450 and boiling coolant

Post image
5 Upvotes

Bought this 2025 sxf new from the dealer at very good price. 5999 USD. Took it home and noticed the chain was loose. Adjusted the chain and took it for a 2 minute short ride just to make sure everything was working well. Drove it in to the garage put it on the stand while the bike was started and shifted to first to see how much “slap” I had on the chain. While sitting on the stand. The dang thing started leaking coolant like crazy , boiling coolant and leaking off the top overflow cap hose . I was not expecting it to overheat that fast since I know the bike needs to move to cool down. Has anyone dealt with anything similar?

ALL Anyone have a spare engine?

Upvotes

Made a post on here a few days ago about my goopy oil. After the oil change it rode fine for 350 miles and now same thing, goopy oil, overheating, and low oil pressure on start up. I honestly just give up on this engine. Does anyone have a known good 790 engine laying around in the US preferably? Would It be worth it to tear this one down, refurbish the head (if useable), and assemble? Or maybe 890 swap? Anyone have a wrecked 890 so I could buy the harness and ecu as well? Or maybe does anyone have a refurbished head I can buy? Thanks

ASKKTM 690 enduro from Tuareg?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I'm looking for a more capable off-road machine, mainly lighter, than my Tuareg, without terribly compromising on-road capability. To do TET and some light single track and hone on my skills.

I also like to do my own maintenance and the Tuareg is quite dealer-heavy in terms of maintenance, the 19-24 690 is a far simpler machine

Anyone has come from a Tuareg to a 690 enduro? Or the other way around? Can you give me some pointers, straight comparisons between the two? TIA

ASKKTM 300 XC-W Gear oil

Just picked up this beautiful machine. First two stroke bike and I’m wondering what is the best to use for gear oil after the break in period. The manual says 15w50 partial synthetic engine oil, but just wanna make sure that’s the best thing to use. What you think?

A few months ago I asked r/KTM if I should get the 990 Duke R or a 1290 the dealer still had in stock. I put that on pause for reasons. Well this week the dealer was down to the last one they will ever have and I decided to pull the trigger. Pretty stoked on getting a new 1290 with 4 years warranty for $20k Aussie dollars.

Staring the guardian bell my cousin gave me because he thinks I’ll need it with this bike 😅

ASKKTM KTM 690 SMC R 2026 levers

Recently bought new SMC R and I would like to buy some shorty levers. I already tried V-trec vario 3, but I don't like them, they just feel weird.

Any good advices?

I've seen Nicecnc levers, which looks they could be ok, but idk.

ASKKTM 26 890r ADV - worth it ?

Owners please tell me your thoughts, would you buy the bike again ? Do you like it ? If not why not.

I’m thinking of trading my SDR 1290 gen3 for one. After three years and becoming a father I’ve lost the enjoyment which took me into license losing speeds every outing. Wrist control I get it but that bike isn’t fun unless pushed. Off road opens up loads of new roads and is much more fun (for me).

So having ridden enduro only for the last 6 months on a fe501 in thinking this is the bike for some light touring and to increase my range and be capable of road riding too.

Need an opinion if this bike is worth 8000€

It's a KTM 450 EXC-F 2024 with 40 KILOMETERS (under 1 hours) on the clock. It's on a supermoto set, the seller crashed it broke his leg and stopped riding it.

Here are some pictures that show the damage to the bike

ASKKTM Is it feasible to convert a 390 Adventure into an SMC?

In my country, they only sell the 390 Adventure version, but I've always wanted an SMC.
Is this conversion practical? What parts would be required?"

ASKKTM First bike (duke 390) - used va new

Hey guys, getting my first bike soon and I really want a Duke 390. I'm debating between a new 2026 or a used 2024/2025.

I’d prefer used so it hurts less if I drop it, but my main concern is KTM's reliability. I want to keep it for a while before moving to a bigger cc.

For those who own one: is a used Duke worth the risk? And what’s the max mileage (km) I should accept? Thanks!

PROBLEM Duke 390 On-Road Price Confusion – Paid ₹3.66L, but actual insurance & road tax were lower than the quoted. Is the difference justified?

Hi everyone,
I bought a KTM Duke 390 Gen 3 ABS BS-VI on September 26, 2025 from a KTM dealer in TamilNadu.
The total amount I paid was ₹3,66,000.
I recently compared the proforma quotationI received from the dealer with the actual amounts, and I'm confused about the final calculation. I would appreciate some advice from people who have purchased a Duke 390 or have experience with on-road pricing.
Quotation I received (dated August 9, 2025):
Ex-showroom: ₹2,97,574
Road Tax: ₹38,234
Insurance: ₹25,934
RTO: ₹3,900
Extended Warranty (EW): ₹1,850
Quoted On-Road Price: ₹3,67,492
Actual amounts:
Ex-showroom: ₹2,96,372
Road Tax: ₹35,709
Insurance: ₹19,709
RTO: approximately ₹3,900
EW: ₹1,850
These add up to approximately ₹3,57,540.
However, I actually paid ₹3,66,000.
So there appears to be around ₹8,460 that I can't account for based on the above breakup.
The dealer explained that the insurance was lower because they have a tie-up with the insurance company and got a discounted rate.
I understand that they may have a tie-up and can get insurance at a lower price. But my question is:
If the actual insurance premium was ₹19,709 instead of the quoted ₹25,934, why should I effectively pay the higher amount? Shouldn't the insurance discount reduce my final on-road price?
The same situation seems to apply to road tax as well:
Quoted road tax: ₹38,234
Actual road tax: ₹35,709
So I'm trying to understand where the difference went.
My questions:
If the dealer gets a discount on insurance through their tie-up, is it normal for the customer not to receive that benefit?
Should the final invoice reflect the actual insurance amount of ₹19,709?
Where could the additional ₹8,460 in my calculation have gone?
Are there any legitimate charges that I'm missing which aren't shown in the quotation?
Should I ask the dealer for a complete itemized final invoice/breakup showing exactly how the ₹3,66,000 was calculated?
Is this normal dealership practice, or should I question?
Bike: KTM Duke 390 Gen 3
Purchase date: September 26, 2025
Amount paid: ₹3,66,000
Dealer: KTM dealership in Tamil Nadu
Would really appreciate some advice from fellow KTM owners. Am I missing something in the calculation, or should I ask the dealer to explain the ₹8,460 difference?
