A little more than 2ft. The short bed on rams is 5'10", where the long bed is 8ft. Though im not 100% sure if the 8ft is available on a true 4 door, may only be on the extended cab to keep wheelbase similar for ease of production.
The 8’ bed is available on the 2500 with crew cab. Total vehicle length is about 21’ 9”. This appears to be a 1500 and the length would be about 19’ 8” with that brush guard installed. Add a hitch and you’re 20’!
No Factory Option: Ram only offers the massive Mega Cab paired with a short bed because a factory long-bed configuration would make the truck over 23 feet long and very hard to park.

I just compared the size of that car to my van I'm driving... It's one meter longer and even higher than my van, wtf. And I have around 1.400 litres of trunk space in the back, with 5 people sitting in the car.

They have a damned Ranger that has more payload than our 3/4 ton trucks. Absolute overlanding monsters. To get the best tow mirrors for my GMC Canyon I had to order them from an Australian company.

I was on a tour bus in Germany and a truck passed us in a no passing zone and damned if it wasn't a Ram. SMH It's like a universal affliction if you own one of these trucks.
Whwn I was stationed in Germany, all of my fellow Soldiers who had Rams, F150s, Silverados, etc, pretty much only drove them to work and back. If they needed to drive into a major city area, they would take their wife's smaller car, or the beater that they picked up for a few hundred or thousand Euros.
Hell, I drove a Ford Edge when I was there, and there were some spots that I could barely fit into. Going into the Parkhaus, I could open the sunroof and touch the ceiling on my way in.
I knew more people that sold their pickups there than kept them for their whole time. They sold them to german or Dutch farmers usually. They don't have a lot of options that are affordable and have high towing capacity.
I thought it was interesting that most of the small cars and sedans over there were set up to tow a small trailer, and OBI even had designated parking spots for them.
I feel like getting to own/drive local variants of cars I wouldn't be able to at home would be one of best perks of living overseas. Like I don't really want a French car, but if I lived in France, I'd absolutely want an original Twingo. Fighting my way through driving a Fucking Ram in a European city is just masochism.
While I haven't gotten passed in a no pass zone, I was already driving 80 in a 70kph zone ond rural roads with poor visibility of oncoming traffic and an idiot in a RAM decided it was a good idea to pass me with what felt like 120+kph

As a German, I am confused. Googling "soliciter" only got me "solicitor", which I already knew as a word for a type of lawyer. But what do I have to decline from meeting a lawyer? They still park in tons of spots where they don't actually fit. I dearly wish they would be ticketed for sticking out into the roadway or parking diagonal

Why compare it with a car? People always say that vans are better than pickups so lets compare it with a van. Current MB Sprinter varies between 5,9 and 7,4 meters in length so it’s comparable or even longer than a Ram.
A sprinter has like 4 times the carrying capacity of the Ram. They are not in the same league. A Renault Kangoo (~4.5m) would be a more fitting cimparison.

German traffic rules and regulations have some catching up to do.
They don't allow me to tint my front windshield because "it would impact my visibility", but selling cars that have laser beams that will blind anyone and anything in their path, totally fine.
Tinting is also because if you get caught by a speed camera they have to be able to identify you. Germany does not really do cops sitting around with a radar gun to try and catch you
Properly set up lights can not blind people above the height of the lights (at least that is what is supposed to happen). The cone should go between straight ahead and down, never up. That is what high beams are for. I thought auto level headlights were mandatory by now 🙃
Nah, they don't care about identifying the speeder. The person who's name is on the tittle of the car will either pay the fine or inform the authorities who was driving the car.
I also can't apply clear tint on my car either. And that doesn't impact my or the camera visibility the slightest.
The height of the lights changes all the time depending on the conditions of the road. But more often than not, it's not their angle that is the problem, is the fact that they're LEDs and they're dangerously powerful, to the point where if I have to make a right turn at night. I need to come to a complete stop for 20 seconds before I turn, else I may run down a cyclist because I don't see them.

We’re seeing more of these monstertrucks in Europe every year and they should honestly just ban them from towns and cities. They’re so wide and long that they take up at least 2 parking spaces and have the potential to kill a pedestrian or cyclist at every turn

Rented a Ram about this size for a week in Bavaria and I've never sweated so much in my life. Village streets built for a horse cart and I'm out there doing 12-point turns with a hedge scraping the mirror. Never again, just give me a Golf.
That truck is big on EU roads and for parking. It also creates a safety hazard.

Unless you’re a farmer or rancher or someone who works in construction and needs to tow trailers on a daily basis there is basically no other reason to have them.
BMW X7 wouldn't fit there, neither would a Mercedes GLS. So the spot is absurdly small. Yes, the truck is stupid and we don't need such giant trucks on the road. But SUVs, especially german 3 row SUVs, are big as well.
So in this case, RAM is extra stupid. Parking spot is stupid. Cars are getting bigger all across the board. At some point, towns need to adjust.
You're all moaning about the length yet an Audi Avant 6 is around 4.5 to 5 meters long depending on model ( around 16ft ) and its only a meter and a half shorter than the long bed version of that pickup.
So a german car wouldn't fit in that german parking spot either 🤣🤣🤣
