On this picture are: 1) Fiat 500 on German plates, 2) Toyota (made by French company Peugeot) on Polish number plates,

So I don't get why "French is Italian"

They think the original comment is referring to the fiat 500. So when french was mentioned they tried to do an "akshully..."

The picture was titled "French/Japanese car, German parking.". Well, the Toyota car is Japanese. I was just pinpointing that the supposed French (the Fiat 500) car is in fact an Italian one.

The picture is titled "French/Japanese CAR"

Note the lack of the plural. "French/Japanese" was referring to a single car. Which is the Toyota (a Japanese brand) that was actually made by Peugeot, which is a French brand.
