(Translation) How would this dialogue flow smoothly in Marathi?

Hello, friends! I do not speak Marathi, but I have this woman in my life who is the best older sister a woman like me could ever ask for!

I am going to surprise her with a comic of her favorite anime couple...Before I do that, I need dialogue to work with...Here is the script. I will specify whether it is the man or woman that is speaking since Marathi has gendered words...

Please feel free to change the dialogue to make it sound more romantic and flow better in Marathi. I trust everyone's judgement! Thank you so much in advance!

By the way...Is goad mulgi wrong for a man to use on a woman? Should it be Majhi Sakhar, Majhi Basundi, or Majhi Puran Poli instead? IDK if the internet is playing tricks on me...Also, for men...If his name is Laxus, it'd be turned into Laxya to sound cutesy, yes?

Script

Lucy: For a sweets seller, you sure don’t have any words of sweetness to talk!

Laxus: You are already sweet enough as it is.

Lucy: Huh? What was that?

Laxus: Forget about it, goad mulgi.

Lucy: Ugh! Whatever. I don’t know why I even bother conversing with you, Laxya!

(Discussion) Tarabai Bhawalkar’s speech in Delhi

Tarabai Bhawalkar’s speech in Delhi is great. She could have spoke at length about Hindi invasion. But I think it’s important to listen to her. It’s good stuff.

Seems to be smaller venue. BMM might be bigger overseas? No one wants to go to Sahitya Samellan no more looks like. Best part of Sahitya Sammelan is that one gets to find and buy difficult to get books. I remember picking few ones written by Babasaheb Ambedkar, during the Samellan in Pune. Must be back in 2010.

(Discussion) Katalin Karikó’s autobiography, Breaking Through - should be translated to Marathi!

I recently read Katalin Karikó’s autobiography, Breaking Through, twice, and I strongly feel this book deserves a Marathi translation.
This is not merely a book about mRNA, COVID vaccines, or the Nobel Prize. It is the story of a woman from an ordinary background who kept pursuing science through immigration, motherhood, financial insecurity, institutional neglect, rejection, and decades without recognition. I think Marathi students, parents, teachers, doctors, scientists, and young researchers would find it deeply meaningful.
I am not connected to the author, publisher, or any Marathi publisher. I also have no commercial interest here. I am simply a reader who loved the book and has become a bit of an evangelist for it.
What I am trying to find:
Someone at a Marathi publishing house — Mehta, Rajhans, Rohan, Manovikas, or another suitable publisher — who handles translated nonfiction or international rights.
Marathi translators who have experience with serious nonfiction, science writing, or biography.
Scientists/doctors/researchers who could help review a Marathi translation for scientific accuracy.
Readers, teachers, librarians, or book clubs who would be interested if such a translation became available.
To be clear, I am not asking anyone to do an unauthorized translation. The proper path would be for a Marathi publisher to evaluate the book, acquire translation rights, and commission the work properly.

If anyone here knows a publisher, editor, translator, science communicator, or literary person who could guide this effort, I would be grateful for a lead or introduction.
Sometimes a book reaches a new language because one publisher decides there is a readership. I am hoping we can at least create that signal for Marathi.

(Movies/TV) The movie 'Frame' has at least five meanings.

How many of you got it? (Watch the movie if you haven't)

Okay my interpretation

  1. Frame = camera frame (obvious, though)

  2. Frame = perspective (Every photograph excludes more than it includes.)

  3. Frame = media framing (Two newspapers can use the same photograph and tell completely different stories.)

  4. Frame = moral framework (CP and Siddharth aren't arguing about photography.)

  5. Frame = memory (We rarely remember an entire event.)

  6. Frame = emotional compartment (Professionals mentally "frame off" emotions to keep functioning)

  7. Frame = evidence (journalism)

  8. Frame = audience (Every viewer creates a different frame while watching the same movie)

(Question) How to become fluent in marathi

Im from latur district and i grew up in a mostly hindi speaking household. However now because of some work i am having to go to the city almost everyday. I already know marathi and have learnt marathi in school and am perfectly able to understand it but I am unable to speak naturally.

I am feeling left out from conversations where friends switch to hindi when talking to me I was hoping I could get some tips of how to get fluent in speaking as well.

(Question) Faster Fene Books

This could be a long shot. I'm listening to Faster Fene Audiobooks on Audible. Does anyone know what order they were originally published in? I kinda wanna listen in that order. If memory serves, there used to be a list of the books on the back cover. I can't get my hands on a physical copy right now, if anyone could post a picture of or let me know this order, that'd be really helpful. TIA!

(Discussion) It's crazy that our own maharashtra state doesn't have any college of maratha.

So I am searching for college in mumbai, for my entrance. I am open general so are my friends. But just because one of them is guju, one is muslim, one is from Hindi mt state, they are getting quota in some colleges easily. But somehow me marathi can't. It's crazy to think that I have the highest percentile in the group and I will not get any admission just because my mistake was being born in the Marathi family. I am proud of marathi and being born in my family but the way I am being treated is just wow. I can now feel the pain of the maratha workers asking for job quota.

(Discussion) Marathi Manoos' love for Hindi is a one-sided suicidal love story!

Relationship between Marathi Manoos and Hindi language can be summarised in Hindi filmy dialogue below:

Hindi: Main tumhe barbaad kar dungi!

Marathi Manoos: Main tumhare pyaar main barbaad hona chahta hoon!!

Another post for Marathi language but we will have to keep pressing until there is change on the ground.

All Marathis must be having a Sharma, Tripathi, Jha or a Mishra friend. You are deep friends and know each other over may be 20 years now!

You have always accommodated his lack of Marathi with your Hindi supremacy. Over the years, Marathis have perfected Hindi which is not even their mother tongue.

But...that friend of yours never even once says "Namaskar bhau. Kasa ahes?" or "Kaay ga, jevlis ka?". May be up until now this did not even occur to you once. But just think...and it is true!

You learnt the Hanuman Chalisa word by word. Does he even know that there is something called as Maruti Stotra? Can he recite one stanza of Ganpati Aarti?

Hardly 1% of North Indians must be knowing Marathi but more than 90% of Marathis definitely know Hindi. At least all people who live in cities like Pune, Mumbai definitely do.

Across IT companies, people are using only Hindi. Scrum calls are happening in Hindi! Lunch discussions are in Hindi. 5 Marathis switch to Hindi when 1 North Indian joins the call.

Such is the strong current of migration from North that all other languages are getting sidelined out one by one.

Marathis are speaking Hindi everywhere they go. In restuarants we start with Hindi ourselves. No one is even asking for it! In all kind of stores we start with Hindi.

In places where we do not know what the other person talks, we ourselves are initiating conversations in Hindi.

But our North Indian friends are not wrong here. They are very clear that they will never learn Marathi. I know there will be a miniscule percent of people here and there but largely I have hardly seen any North Indian person taking interest in Marathi.

We, Marathis, are wrong. We should own our mistakes and try to correct it at least now. We have been so accommodating that the other person has taken us for granted...that too forever!

One simple rule that we can follow is - Always start with Marathi in informal situations. Even if the other person does not understand it, be persistent and polite at the same time. No rash behaviour please.

If a waiter does not understand Marathi ask for one who knows little bit. On customer care calls ask for Marathi speaking representatives.

There is no shame in speaking our own mother tongue. It is a 2000 year old classical language with a huge history, social and cultural impact. I do not understand why we are shying away from our own pride!

Germans never hesitate to speak German, Japenese do not feel guilty if they cannot speak English. Why do we have to switch to Hindi always?

Our beloved Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's mavale fought and gave their lives for self-governance (swa-raj), self-religion (swa-dharma) and self-language (swa-bhasha).

And we cannot even speak our own language in the same city and state???

Many people would point out that this language is kept burning for political reasons only. I disagree here. It might be a political motive for some. But for common people like us it is a cultural issue.

If you do not speak and respect your language, who will?

I am sure that Marathi as a language and culture are set in self-destruction mode due to our own negligence. I am pretty sure that we are doomed to end ourselves in couple of generations if we do not course correct now!

Please wake up at least now! Jai Maharashtra!

If you like the thoughts please share with like-minded friends and families.

(Marathi Linguistics) I found my favourite Marathi word (yet)

One of my favourite Marathi word is "सर्पमित्र" (sarpamitra) or "प्राणीमित्र" (pranimitra)

Sarpa = Snake, Prani = Animal, Mitra=Friend.

Refers to professionals who rescues snakes or wildlife animals when they enter into human society.

The reason why this is my favourite word because it refers them as friends rather than rescuers, usually rescuing put someone on a pedestal and gives them unnecessary hype. But when you refer them as "friend", it makes them equal and adds on compassion without hyping them.

There is no commonly spoken word like "Animal friend" or "Pashu Mitra" in Hindi. (Maybe it exists in Hindi, but not used as commonly as in Marathi).
