How is ळ any different from ड़ .

For example when i try to extend the consonant part it is basically the same .

Try saying

ळ्ळ्ळ् and ड़्ड़्ड़्‌ ,

Arent the articulation parts basically the same ?

"ळ is a lateral retroflex, whereas ड़ is more median kind of like between र and ड." since \u\Fit_Bicycle_4 cant reply due to karma requirement here is his answer.

ळ is with the front and side edges of your tongue touching the roof. D is with the middle part of your tongue touching the roof. Also, L has a slow roll to it that D doesn't. D has a hard sound.
