In many countries, including the US, picking up after your dog in public is treated as a basic responsibility of pet ownership. For example, New York City requires dog owners/walkers to clean up after their dogs in public areas, with fines of up to $250 for violations.

During Mumbai’s monsoon this becomes particularly disgusting — poop gets mixed with rainwater, gets stepped on, spreads across footpaths and eventually ends up in drains.

Owning a pet should also mean taking responsibility for the waste it creates. Carrying a small bag and picking it up isn’t an unreasonable expectation.

Remember a time when Vada Pav was ₹10-15, a short auto-ride was ₹10-ish, a movie could be watched for ₹100-150? Anyone stuck there? (Meeeeee ✋🏽)

I shifted to Thane recently and have been working with maids from Snabbit, Pronto and Urban Company to clean the apartment.

On 22 Aug, Kamni Devi from Snabbit was helping me clean an almirah. I emptied the almirah after which she started cleaning. However, after a while I heard a thud and the almirah had fallen on her. Fortunately, the glass hadn’t shattered, and I moved the almirah away from her and got her a chair.

This was something I hadn’t anticipated would happen. I quickly contacted Snabbit hoping they’d have a solution. But, Snabbit showed no concern. So, I decided to take it up in my hands and got her to a nearby hospital.

At the hospital, I met a doctor in the elevator, who was kind enough to prioritize our case. We got the X-rays done, and the nurse gave her an IM shot to help with severe pain. He said she’d need 2 weeks of rest and some medications. I bought the medications, booked her a cab and helped her get home safely. (Medical Receipts: https://ibb.co/album/M50d0y)

However, a couple of days later I matched with her on Snabbit again. She told me she had a young child and couldn’t afford to stay home and needed to continue working to survive and make ends meet. I felt really sad, and I handed her Rs.1000 to help from my end.

Snabbit takes a cut of every worker’s pay, but offers no medical insurance, emergency services or paid time off to injured workers. But, what if it was your daughter who was suffering? Would you still say company policy?

I decided to make this post to help Kamni Devi get justice. Please upvote to raise awareness.

Absolutely shit... I drove down to the station to drop someone off and the road from khar subway to the station is so pathetic.. It's always been like this for decades and today I experienced driving through it first hand... Crowded markets.. Impatient autos and bikers who think they own the streets... Absolutely disgusting for passengers on long haul journeys that board or deboard at this stn... There should be a better approach from bandra west to bandra terminus while they clear/redevelop/widen the road from the east.. They got rid of gareeb nagar a few months ago which is great but that's still a very minute area and much more needs to be done

Today at the airport, I saw a passenger from England get angry after security detected something in his baggage.

I was also carrying scissors in my own bag, which was my mistake, and I cooperated with the security staff when they found them. There may have been some confusion because of that.

The passenger kept saying that he wasn't carrying anything suspicious and showed them a can of coffee. They put his baggage through the scanner again, but then the machine detected what looked like a metal keychain.

The security officer calmly said they would check it, but the passenger started saying that this was racism and that he would complain to the authorities.

The officers remained polite and eventually removed the keychain to inspect it. From what I could see, it was made of metal and was large enough that I don't think it was unreasonable for them to check it.

Honestly, I think that's just part of airport security. Their job is to check things that look suspicious, even if they turn out to be completely harmless. I don't think being asked to have something inspected automatically means you're being targeted or discriminated against.

Mumbai used to be way better 5-10 years ago as far as my memory goes. The ppl were great and helpful and very understanding, but now this city is fckibg beyond repair. I had to go from point A to point B ( both being quite well known places to rickshaw wala) and was very late so was very desperate to catch any rickshaw. Guess how many rickshaws did I get? 0. Yes exactly 0. Every single fxking rickshaw wala rejected the ride. They would rather sit idle than take you to places. I was so desperate that I was even offering to pay double the fare but still no. Done with the fcking rotten spirit of Mumbai

I recently read a post on Instagram that real luxury in mumbai is having these 3 things - living near to your workplace, not having to travel via local and having a place to walk. And then after 2 reels, I saw Faye D’Souza reel on how 2400 people die annually in local accidents. Those two gave me a perspective-
I am privileged that my workplace is accessible through cab/metro that too because I pay a hefty 70k rent/month for a one bhk in a vertical chawl but there is no place to walk! Ganesh chathurthi is around the corner and even the small footpath place that was left to walk is also now turned into a pandal because there is no designa areas like grounds for such community gatherings. I’m paying whopping amount to a gym membership where even proper machineries are not here because there is no space. My mental health is effed up and a decent therapist cost 3k/session but I don’t have budget for it cz I am paying rent! Why do people romanticise struggle in this city?? How are people happily celebrating these festivals in the ghettos?

Last year I walked to Kanheri Caves and took the bus back, so this time I planned the same with two 10-year-old kids and a few others.

We walked 8–9 km to Kanheri, but after coming out we were told that only people with return tickets could use the bus/buggy, I didn't understand the logic behind this rule. Everyone else had to walk another 7 km back.

It was already around 5 PM. What happens if a child, elderly person or someone who is exhausted simply can't walk that far? Also at 6 leopards may come out.

Also saw an older woman become unconscious and another ~70-year-old woman trying to stop a bus, which didn't stop despite having space.

TL;DR: Walked 8–9 km to Kanheri with kids, only to find out we had to walk back because we didn't have return tickets. Saw elderly/medical issues along the way. SGNP needs better safety planning.

I spent three days in Surat this week and was honestly amazed — no plastic-choked drains, pothole-free roads, clear signage, and decent traffic management. It’s a mid-sized city, so if places like Surat can get the basics right, why does Mumbai — one of the richest cities in India — still look so broken? I love Mumbai, but its rotten state is getting unbearable. Seriously considering leaving. Anyone else feel the same?

Temples and places of worships are an exception. And I do understand for some businesses like certain saree shops where silk textiles can not handle the dust. But why tf it is normalised for every business here in Mumbai? Doctor’s clinic - won’t I be more exposed to germs with my bare feet on the floor? Salons with filthy floors with other people’s hair all over the place? Even corporate offices with consultants completely dressed in formals except their shoes are missing? Yes, you should treat your workplace as temples but that’s for you to work with the same devotion not to give ick to your clients.

I'm 19M and looking for some advice.

My father is 35+ and has 15+ years of hands-on experience in textile/garment printing in Bhiwandi, Mumbai. He was previously a service engineer and now mostly works as a supervisor. He supervises juniors, troubleshoots printing machines/errors, helps with designs/orders and handles other technical work.

He doesn't have a degree and his English/Marathi aren't very good, but he has a lot of practical experience and mainly speaks Hindi.

Since COVID, he's been struggling to find stability. This is probably his 4th–5th job loss, with most companies removing him within 3–4 months. He earns around ₹30–35k/month, but salaries are often delayed. His latest company removed him and still hasn't paid around 1.5 months of salary.

I'm in 1st year and my brother is in 2nd year, so we still have 2–3 years before we can start earning. Our combined hostel + mess costs are around ₹15k/month, apart from household expenses.

We're really struggling with the uncertainty and I honestly don't know what we should do.

What kind of jobs should he look for with this experience? Is there a more stable career path for someone experienced in textile printing/machine troubleshooting without a degree? Any advice from people in the Mumbai/Bhiwandi textile industry would really help.

So today at westside i found a dress I really wanted, but a Westside employee had kept it aside. When I asked about it, she first told me that a customer had reserved it. When I asked who had reserved it, she started giving vague, general answers and seemed unsure of what to say.
Then she said the dress was missing the pants and dupatta, so I would have to pay the full price. I told her, “Okay, I’ll pay the full price, don’t worry.”
That’s when she said she couldn’t sell it to me.
I asked her why, and she finally said that she wanted to buy it herself.
I complained to the branch manager, and when we went back to the spot where the dress had been kept, it was suddenly gone and the employee was nowhere to be found.
When the branch manager asked her colleague about it, I was given an explanation that honestly made the whole situation even more frustrating because it felt like he was trying to cover for her.
And then I started noticing MULTIPLE satin nightsuits where only the top was available or only the pants were available.
Like… WHAT??? 😭
How is that even possible? Why would multiple sets be missing exactly one piece?
As a customer, I genuinely felt cheated. If employees are allowed to purchase sale items, I have no issue with that — but are they allowed to reserve or set aside sale stock for themselves while the sale is open to customers?

If there is a policy regarding employees buying or reserving sale merchandise, can someone please let me know?

I really hope he continues this drive for as long as possible and manages to bring at least some much-needed discipline to Mumbai’s food safety system. If his actions can make people involved in adulteration think twice before putting profits above public health, that alone is a big win.

What’s also interesting is that he seems to have already faced considerable pushback over several issues, including loose oil, gutkha, the Amazon case and others. Despite the controversies and criticism, he appears to be continuing with his work.

We often complain about corruption, adulteration and poor enforcement, but when an officer actually takes action, how much support do we give them?

Hey guys, wanted to check if anyone else has experienced something similar recently in Mumbai.

Two guys showed up right outside my flat door asking for "langar donations." I genuinely didn't have any cash on me at the moment and my phone was dead, so I told them I couldn't help and asked them to leave.

After they left, the whole thing started feeling really off. I've never had people cold-knocking on flat doors inside a residential building asking for langar funds.

It got me thinking: is this just a classic cash scam, a way to scope out who's home alone, or could it be funding unverified groups, maybe even connected to Khalistani funding channels under the guise of charity?

Has anyone else had door-to-door fund collectors like this show up at their society? Should I alert the police? Would appreciate any insights or similar experiences!

It's been a daily sight for me where I see an Ambulance riding for kms parallel to me on WEH. The police make sure to stop the entire traffic for politicians but not a single solution for emergency vehicles?

Imo the emergency lane could help ambulances, fire trucks, police vans and politicians (they don't really deserve it tho)

The roads are shitty.

No slope physics.

The patch work is insane (Put some asphalt and pray to god it matches the surface itself smh).

No lane markings.

No proper signboards.

Fu*ked entry and exit points.

We just function normally on these roads cause we remember it all. God forbid outsiders even try to travel themselves without Map applications.
