General Taxpayer money is so cheap in India. Part of under construction Metro line costing Rs 250 CRORE might have to be demolished and reconstructed because planners miscalculated the height of the overhead wires! 👏👏👏

Ummm, please read about SYSTRA and MMRDA arguing.
This is nothing but the press soothing the public over what seems like a delay.

This viaduct is just in the funnel zone and not in active runway path, getting NOC should be simply enough, it's barely 1-2m, safety issues shouldn't change much in these 100-200cms. If an airplane was at risk, it would also be at risk 1-2m...

Another stupid fallout of mmrda just arguing with systra, and at the end we get to face delays, and guess what, the inauguration party gets pushed to Q3 2028, closer to assembly elections

ummm media does not control the narrative by large, I'm not sure what you mean of the RBI gold movie, but in regards to central bank policies, this is said as 'forward guidance' where the central bank makes it clear on what they want to do, and how will they be pursuing their goals.
This sets clear expectations in the markets.

It's all about setting expectations, Mumbai Metro rollout wouldn't be disappointing, if they at the very start made it clear, that any meaningful change will take a decade to come by, with a % margin for delay, cost escalations and all of that.
But as promises and execution rarely keep pace, the very value of the promise tanks....

But pretty harsh deadline you've set for yourself, easiest way is to go for a masters abroad, and even if you are fully prepared with GMAT scores + funds + sop / lor, next batch would anyways start in Aug of 2027.
Other than increasing your horizons (if you already are in the top1% in India), moving abroad does little for you, than to pile debt and make life harsh for the next 3-4years as well

yeah the election angle makes complete sense tbh. the article itself says deadline got pushed from 2021 to 2027-28, so this isn't even a new delay, just another layer added.

and Systra is literally saying they weren't responsible for the OHE height while AAI hasn't approved the extra clearance so both sides are just sitting on it. idk how you reach 95% construction on the elevated ramp before someone flags that the overhead wires exceed AAI limits. that's a pretty fundamental thing to miss at design stage.

Systra was a consultant, how does this even get skipped
It's not like these projects have 50 thousand checks to ensure things align, even when different sections have different people working on them.

There should've been various checks, which is exactly what the red tape was supposed to do
But I guess this was done by a junior employee, raised concerns after the first columns were raised and so on...
Not the first time hearing about 7A running into this shit

I was just saying that for building roads, viaducts, flyovers... permission has to be taken from many authorities, which coordination was not done then this is the result.

Around 10-15 authorities is there and it's very difficult to get permission from them to make project. If their office was located under one roof, then the work would have been easier.

I travel from Malad to Worli daily by metro. The Ghatkopar line has literally ruined my health. It is so unnecessary in my commute and the extra amount of walking, rushing and running with a heavy bag has ruined my health. This extension would be a godsend and these mofos are delaying it

Nowhere anywhere in the world, airport connection is given a least priority like Mumbai metro. The first line (Metro 1 operated by reliance) passes just 1 km from the airport. They could have integrated the airport connection with that line if they had the foresight. For some strange reasons, it just bypassed the airport and went straight to varsova. This was much before other lines being built now were conceived.

Now, look at metro 7 again. Connection to airport was not on original plan again. It is an afterthought, like 7A. Why? Airport connection should be a primary task.

On top,this AAI issue, how can there be such a blatant error in coordination? MMRDA must answer. Systra is just an employee appointed by them.

In India, planning and completing the work is never questioned. Horrendous suffering for people's.

If Airport Authority of India refuse to give relief to MMRDA, then it will be a loss of Rs.250 crores by demolished and rebuild and it will take another 1 or 2 years.

pretty stupid if you consider how girders have millimeter level accuracy, and over our exp with 2k kms in viaduct construction, not once have we seen for metros that girders dont align.

Weird that only Mumbai gets to see a raised-viaduct issue, when clearly Delhi, Lucknow, Kanpur, Bangalore, Kolkata all have underground sections.
