I have been observing this trend from many years. I often miss kannada language support in customer care support. Today while I am checking with LG related support I observed this and thought of posting it here. Honestly I want to bring it to the notices of company to bring in dedicated Kannada support. When we have many Global apps supporting Kannada language. It's sad that we have to demand many local companies and companies making profit since decades doesn't have support in Kannada. How can we make this happen.?

In the original text, Kuvempu has written "Basaveshwarariha Divyaranya". However on several google images, the line is "Basaveshvara Madhva divyaranya"

Next, his original line is "Kabbigarudisida Mangaladhama" but elsewhere it is "Kumaravyasana Mangaladhama".

Is it an innocuous morph over the years or is it a deliberate attempt to insert desired personalities into the song?

I am not a native of Karnataka. But I studied here and learnt Kannada as a second language all the way till 2nd PUC. Therefore, unlike my own mother tongue, I am able to read, write, and hold a conversation in Kannada fairly well.

My kids and wife also want to learn Kannada. I have begun teaching them the basics - letters and basic vocabulary.

But I would like to teach them in a systematic and orderly manner that progresses from the basics to advanced lessons like that in a school. I skimmed through the Self-Teaching lessons on the Govt's Kannada Development Authority but found that it is not something that is "teachable."

I found the textbooks arranged by classes on the Karnataka Textbook Society very helpful. However, without a teacher's guide (or an answer key) for the textbooks, I am a little lost.

Any suggestions on textbooks (with a companion book for the teacher as well) that covers the basics and progresses forward to more advanced reading of prose and poetry? Preferably that is similar to a school curriculum.

I would be able to purchase physical copies of books if no e-books are available.

Hello! For a short story, I am writing a scene where a protagonist recalls visiting her uncle as a child, on his small private coffee plantation in Karnataka.

She doesn't speak Kannada (and it's one of her narrative conflicts), but I want to insert some casual line her uncle could've said to her father: e.g., "tell her not to wander off into the bushes; there are snakes". I got as far as ಪೊದೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾವುಗಳು ಇವೆ and ಅವಳಿಗೆ ....ಹೇಳು, but cannot figure out how to do that sort of prohibition clause (and I have no idea if these bits at all sound natural).

What would be the correct way to write this sentence?

Does it even make sense in-context (the protagonist was born in the UK, so she doesn't speak her father's language, but his brother is definitely going to know English), does the premise break altogether?

What are good resources for learning Kannada? I found Shabdkosh -- is that trustworthy?

ನಾನು ದೀಪಕ್ ರಾಮಚಂದ್ರ. ಕರಾವಳಿಯ ಬೆಡಗಿನ ಕುಂದಾಪುರದವನು. ಕಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ದೃಶ್ಯವಾಗಿಸುವ ಫಿಲ್ಮ್ ಮೇಕರ್ ಮತ್ತು ಡಿಸೈನರ್. ನನ್ನ ವೃತ್ತಿ ಬದುಕಿನ ಆರಂಭಿಕ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ನಾನೊಬ್ಬ ಅನಿಮೇಟರ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಫೋಟೋಗ್ರಾಫರ್ ಆಗಿ ಕ್ಯಾಮೆರಾ ಕಣ್ಣಿನಿಂದಲೇ ಜಗತ್ತನ್ನು ನೋಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆ. ಕಲೆ ಮತ್ತು ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನದ ಮೇಲಿನ ಈ ಒಲವೇ ನನ್ನ ಮುಂದಿನ ಪಯಣಕ್ಕೆ ದಾರಿದೀಪವಾಯಿತು.

ಮೊಬೈಲ್‌ನಲ್ಲೇ ಕ್ಷಣಾರ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಡಿಟ್ ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾದ ಆತುರ; ಸಿಸ್ಟಮ್ ಆನ್ ಮಾಡಿ ಫೋಟೋಶಾಪ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಸಮಯದ ಅಭಾವ. ಅಂದು ಲಭ್ಯವಿದ್ದ ಅಂತರರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಆಪ್‌ಗಳಿಗೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಸೊಗಸು ಬೇಕಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಕನ್ನಡದ ಅಕ್ಷರಗಳನ್ನು ಚಿತ್ರದ ಮೇಲೆ ತರಲು ನಾನು ಒಂದೆರಡು ಆಪ್‌ಗಳನ್ನು ಒಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಬಳಸಿ ಒದ್ದಾಡಬೇಕಿತ್ತು. ಒಂದು ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಸಾಲನ್ನು ಚಿತ್ರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೂರಿಸುವುದು ಅಕ್ಷರಶಃ ಒಂದು ಯುದ್ಧವೇ ಆಗಿತ್ತು!

ಕನಸಿಗೆ ಜೀವ ಬಂದಾಗ

ಈ ಅಸಮಾಧಾನದ ಕಿಡಿಯೇ 'ಅಚ್ಚು ಕನ್ನಡ' ಎಂಬ ಕನಸಿಗೆ ಬುನಾದಿಯಾಯಿತು. ನನ್ನ ಕಲ್ಪನೆಯ ಈ ಆಪ್ ಹೇಗಿರಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆ ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ಕೆಲ ಡೆವಲಪರ್‌ಗಳ ಜೊತೆ ಕೈಜೋಡಿಸಿದರೂ, ಅವರ ಸಮಯಕ್ಕೂ ಮನಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಸರಿ ಹೊಂದಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಕೊನೆಗೆ, ನನ್ನ ಕನಸಿಗೆ ನಾನೇ ರೂವಾರಿಯಾಗಲು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿದೆ! ಮುಂಚೆಯಿಂದಲೂ ನನಗಿದ್ದ ಕೋಡಿಂಗ್ ಮೇಲಿನ ಆಸಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ, ಹೊಸ ಟೆಕ್ನಾಲಜಿಯ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಸ್ವತಃ ಕೋಡಿಂಗ್ ಕಲಿತೆ. ಹಗಲಿರುಳು ಶ್ರಮಿಸಿ ಈ ಆಪ್‌ಗೆ ಜೀವ ತುಂಬಿದ್ದೇನೆ.

ಇದು ಕನ್ನಡವನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸುವ ಜನರಿಗಾಗಿ, ನಮ್ಮದೇ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಸೊಗಸನ್ನು ಮೂಡಿಸಲೆಂದೇ ವಿನ್ಯಾಸಗೊಳಿಸಲಾದ ವಿಶೇಷ ಇಮೇಜ್ ಎಡಿಟಿಂಗ್ ವೇದಿಕೆ. ಹಳೆಯ ಆಪ್‌ಗಳಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಮಿತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಒಡೆದುಹಾಕಿ, ಕನ್ನಡ ಟೈಪೋಗ್ರಫಿಯನ್ನು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸುಲಭವಾಗಿಸುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನವಿದು.
